Review of The Day After the Party by Nicole Trope – ★★★★☆
The Day After the Party is a gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from the start. Katelyn wakes up in a hospital, unable to remember her thirty-sixth birthday party. As she navigates her fragmented memories, she suspects her husband is hiding something crucial.
Trope brilliantly explores themes of postpartum depression, secrets, and betrayal, weaving a dual timeline that keeps you guessing. The tension builds as Katelyn’s journey unfolds, filled with unpredictable twists that make it hard to put down.
Trope delivers an engaging read that keeps you on your toes. If you love thrillers packed with intrigue and well-developed characters, this one is a must-read!
— TL;DR: A thrilling blend of suspense and emotion, The Day After the Party is a page-turner full of secrets and twists that will keep you guessing until the end.
The perfect birthday or the perfect nightmare? This is the perfect tagline for this wonderful book. I was obsessed with this book from the first page and it truly encapsulates the phase ‘just one more chapter’ because the powerful cliffhangers keep you turning the pages well into the night. The characters were wonderfully written and I loved the storyline. I highly recommend The Day After the Party another 5 star thriller you need to read.

Oh my!! This book was gripping from the very first chapter and didn't let up. That ending!!! Leah and Katelyn have been BFFs since age 6. After Katelyn's 36th birthday party she wakes up in a hospital having no memory of the what happened and how she got there. I could not stop reading and the more that was revealed the crazier things got. Do not miss this one!
Katelyn and Leah go way back. Like, way back. They have been besties for 30 years and are completely intertwined in each other's lives. There's only one problem. Katelyn can't remember her birthday party. This may not seem like a big deal, but her amnesia is hiding dark secrets that could change all their lives.
I really liked this a lot more than I expected. I wasn't exactly on pins and needles, but I was racing for the next chapter and definitely ready to throw my Kindle a couple of times.
The premise is great but the execution fell a bit flat for me and it was a bit dull in places. Some twists were a bit predictable but others took me by surprise. Good ending!
This book has potential but, ultimately, it was boring and convoluted. Nothing felt believable and I didn’t care for any of the characters.
This is the story of Katelyn and Leah who have been friends since they were six years old. Katelyn decides to hold a party for her thirty sixth birthday but is amazed to wake up next morning lying in a hospital bed unable to remember anything about it. We learn over the years that Leah has been intensely jealous of Katelyn as she has everything that Leah hasn’t. Katelyn had a tough childhood and Leah’s mother took her under her wing and Leah has resented their closeness. She is also envious that Katelyn has a doting husband and a lovely daughter. As Katelyn’s memory begins to return she starts to question everything in her life. This is a gripping story of friendship, marriage and betrayal which makes it a very exciting read and one I could not put down.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
Such a great author! She has outdone herself again! What a suspenseful, edge of your seat, page turner! I read it in one sitting! I seriously couldn't turn the pages fast enough! What a plot twist! Highly recommend!
Enjoyable read for sure. Definitely had a few twists that were unexpected and some that were but overall I liked it. Characters are well written, maybe a bit catty, but then again I know several like that in real life also. I recommend this for anyone looking for a book to get lost in for a bit
So good! I didn't see the end coming! I read this story in one sitting as I couldn't put it down!! Deserves all the stars!!!
I feel like the premise of this book has but done a few times before, but it was still an enjoyable read. It wasn’t as predictable as I expected when I started.
I tried so hard to really get into this book but I just could not connect with the plot line or the characters, It was a quick read but overall did not leave an impact on me.
Another book centered around amnesia. Could you imagine if this happened to you!? I honestly couldn’t, how scary. If that wasn’t scary enough, this was a birthday party from hell!! I will say no more! You have to check out this dark and thrilling novel with all the twists!
I had so many feelings throughout this book. Annoyed at Katelyn’s same thoughts on repeat but at the same time scared for her not knowing what happened and who to trust. And did she even remember thinking those same thoughts earlier? Sad for her world that came crashing down around her. I really connected to her childhood.
Thank you so much Bookouture, Nicole Trope, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
This book keep me guessing until the very end! I couldn’t put it down. I had to know all the details. This was my first book read by this author and I have since read more!! Thank you for the ARC!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. What did I just read? This was great! Very suspenseful domestic thriller!! The characters and story were very well done and kept me guessing. I did not see that ending coming.
I thought this was a good book, but it moved a little slow. The twist at the end was surprising though, so I enjoyed it!
This was a great book that had me guessing to the end.
The characters were wonderfully written and I loved the storyline. It was the perfect length - wasn’t too long and dragged out but also wasn’t too short that important bits of the story were missing.
Would definitely recommend.
