I thought the cover was stunning and enjoyed learning about the rare form of amnesia. I also loved the Family Across the Street and so did my Bookclub so I do enjoy this authors work and will continue to read her stories. This one I just didn't love as much. I didn't have any characters to root for and found parts of the book to be overly repetitive. I do feel like this is a reimagined version of a popular movie from 1993, but won't list the title for spoiler reasons and I feel it would be better read in a Bookclub setting for discussion as there are a lot of items to discuss and theorize over.

So much drama! I love the short chapters and alternating POV between Katelyn and Leah. Couldn’t put this down!!Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Leah and Katelyn became best friends at six years old. Katelyn had a neglectful mother, so Leah’s family became her surrogate family. Now that they are in their thirties, Leah envies the life Kately has built. She desperately wants that life for herself. On the night of Katelyn’s birthday party, Katelyn suffers transient global amnesia (TGA) and cannot remember anything that happened that night. Deep down Katelyn knows something definitely happened that night, but she just cannot remember what. If she remembers, it may destroy her relationships forever.

Nicole Trope is one of my must-read authors, but this one wasn’t my favorite of hers. I liked the idea of the TGA. I also enjoyed the storyline, including the flashbacks to different points of Leah and Katelyn’s friendship. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters. The characters were underdeveloped compared to Trope’s other work. Additionally, this felt like more of a domestic drama to me than a thriller. For these reasons, I give it 3/5 stars.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. This story follows two best friends over the several decades their friendship spans with the central focus being the night of Katelynn’s 36th Birthday party. After suffering an episode of Transient Global Amnesia, Katelynn is left trying to piece together the party, and her relationships with her closest loved ones. This book is filled with twist, secrets, adultery, trauma and touches multiple topics that people could find relatable. The last 40% of the book is where things really picked up for me and I’ll be looking for other novels by this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookutoure for the ARC.

Katelyn wakes up in the hospital two days after her birthday party with no recollection of the party. She, her best friend, and her husband all have secrets. If Katelyn regains her memory, will these secrets come out?

I think the pace here was a little slow for a thriller/suspense. There could’ve been more suspense layered in to really build it for the reader.

Thanks for the review copy.

I enjoyed this book but did question how they were all best friends when they didn’t even seem to like each other! A little predictable in places.

I spent quite a bit of time wondering how these characters ever became friends or lovers, because they did not seem to genuinely like each other most of the time. As a result, it did not seem hard to understand why they turned on each other. I did really like how the temporary amnesia of one protagonist added an intriguing element to the story, leaving the reader wondering what exactly happened and who betrayed who. The pace of the book is fast and it is not very long, so it is a quick, fun ride through a story of friendship and how it changes from childhood through the challenges of adulthood. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Whew what a story! Have to say - everyone of the character was in one way or another super awful - I think Leah takes the cake though.

Even Katelyn, who suffers transient global amnesia (TGA) and can’t remember anything that happened that happened at the party makes it hard to feel 100% sorry for her.

This story has everything, toxic friendships and relationships, cheating, lies and we try to piece together what happened and who is trying to hide what and why.

Also it discusses the topic of post natal depression which is still considered a taboo! Well done!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

A twisty (and trope-y) read about Katelyn and Leah who have been friends since forever. Are they really friends? Both of them tell this story, which moves back and forth in time, after Katelyn wakes up in the hospital after her 36th birthday party with amnesia about the events of the evening. Who can she trust and what's the truth about all that happened and was said that night? No spoilers from me. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Took me while to get into this but by about 25% I really enjoyed it, very well written with interesting characters and I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline which kept me involved all the way.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I can definitely recommend.

This started off a bit slow but once it picked up there was no stopping ut. I hung on for dear life as the drama and thrill poured. Such a wild ride; I had no idea what would happen around the next corner. Riveting and fast paced.

This book is so overly dramatic. I saw someone describe it as a soap opera in another review and they are correct. There is amnesia, divorce, lies, sex, bad childhood, oh my! It does make for a fun read because anything could happen. Is there an evil twin? You never know. It did make for a fun read. It starts a bit slow, but about halfway it really picks up quickly. Once things get rolling, they don't stop. I couldn't read these types of books often, but it's fun for a little escape. Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy for review.

Katelyn and Leah have been best friends since they were six years old. Now, Katelyn is having a party for her thirty-sixth birthday and she couldn't be happier. She has a loving husband, and adorable daughter, and her best friend. But something happens that night and Katelyn wakes up in the hospital the next morning. She has no memory of anything that happened at the party. She is sure her husband and friend are hiding something, but what?

I love that Nicole Trope's books grab your attention from the first page. The story alternates between past and present as well as both Katelyn and Leah's perspectives. While I alternately sympathized with both women, I really didn't like them very much. All they did was complain about their lives and feel sorry for themselves. The men in their lives were equally unlikeable. It was a fast paced read and I found it hard to put down, however, the ending felt a bit flat to me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy in return for my honest review.

A woman with a seemingly perfect life wakes up in a hospital after her birthday party, with no memory of the night of the party or the full day she has been hospitalized since. Trying to put the pieces together and sort out her missing memories from the amnesia means uncovering secrets and uncomfortable truths about the days and even years before the event.

A twisted thriller about marriage, friendship, and parenthood.

The Day After The Party was my first Nicole Trope book and it won’t be my last. It was a fun entertaining quick read.

🖤Frenemies
🖤Adulterous affairs
🖤Amnesia
🖤Both POVs

Katelyn and Leah have been besties since they were six years old. But are they best friends or is their friendship filled with jealousy and really toxic?

When Katelyn seemingly gets amnesia for a short time right at the end of her 36th birthday party, secrets and affairs are on full display.

I enjoy this type of premise and this was a fast popcorn thriller for me. Yes it was fairly predictable and a little repetitive as we hear the same things happening from each of their POVs, but I still enjoyed it and I’d enjoy domestic suspense type thrillers this is for you!

I’ll be back for sure to read more from Nicole and appreciate my early copy! The cover here is fab too. ❤️🖤

Pages: 243

Katelyn is celebrating her thirty-sixth birthday with family and friends. Their home is decorated with fairy lights.
The invitation read ~
Winter Wonderland is the theme
Dress in silver and white if you want to be seen.
Please let us know if you can come.
27th of May for tremendous fun.

~The Day after the Party - Katelyn wakes up in the hospital.
Her husband if there and has written a note telling her what happened..
She has something called ‘Transient Global Amnesia’ and now will not able to form new memories.

This is my fifth Nicole Trope story. I love her psychological thrillers and look forward to the twists and turns. However this one is more a Domestic Drama and not so much a thriller.
I had a hard time connecting with the characters. In fact, I had to stop to get it clear in my head who was married to who!
I am glad I hung in there – as I do love Nicole Tropes stories.

She tells us in her “A Letter from Nicole” that this story is about TGA and the research she did on it but
also about toxic friendships. Leah and Katelyn had been friends for years – they loved each other yet had
a lot of jealous. To me this part of their relationship was so sad.
This story made me think about my friends – those from my past as well as current and I am ready to do an email blast to tell them that I am grateful they came into my life!

Didn’t love this story but I definitely will read another Nicole Troupe story!

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granted me this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for October 30, 2023

Leah and Katelyn have been best friends since they were six years old, always there for each other. Sometimes though, friendship isn’t what it seems.

After Katelyn’s thirty-sixth birthday party, she seemingly loses her memory, and secrets between friends, and their lovers are exposed.

The Day After the Party is full of twists and turns and is the first book in quite some time to keep me up at night, desperately needing to know how it ends.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Another great Nicole Trope thriller! This story follows two childhood best friends Katelyn and Leah. We bounce back from their childhood days up until the night of the event. Each woman has their own secrets that are slowly spilling out as Katelyn tries to figure out why she blacked out at her party and ended up with temporary amnesia. She is trying to connect the pieces together to determine what actually happened that night. But along the way, she is unsure who can she trust, even those the closest to her. I thought I had it figured out multiple times...but my jaw dropped at the very end!

Katelyn and Leah have been best friends since 6 years old. On the night of Katelyn's 36th birthday party, she has an episode and loses her memory from the night. Nobody knows why exactly, but there are secrets that need to be uncovered!

This is a story about friendship, jealousy and betrayal. It was like reading a soap opera episode.

The book didn’t wow me but it was a quick and easy read. The twists weren’t that shocking but I did like the plot and enjoyed the book.

This book was more of a slow burn instead of thriller. It was definitely a bit repetitive at times, and the ending was a bit predictable.
