This was a really cute book to teach kids about saving money.
It really captured that feeling of filling your piggy bank up, because it really is a great feeling.
Definitely a good book.
When Mabel discovers that her piggy bank is full to bursting, her head also feels like it's bursting with ideas of how to spend all that money.
From unicorn water sprinklers to more standard toys and games, the little girl is literally jumping for joy on her much-abused bed as she ponders her options.
But then, after some gentle wisdom from her mother, Mabel realises that the smart thing would be to keep saving. Who knows what she could do with even more money! So she opens a bank account and initiates what will hopefully be a habit of financial discipline that will stand her in good stead in the years ahead.
This is a really cute and effective introduction to children on what they can do with their money other than spend it on immediate consumption. Recommended reading for kids in our consumption-crazy society.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC opportunity for this adorable children’s book.
This book, very sweetly, explains how cool it is to save money, as Mabel takes a trip to the bank with her mom to open an account. The illustrations were beautiful and adorable.
This would be a great book to help children get inspired to learn more about money and save money. Would recommend!
