This book was ok read though I didn't enjoy it as much as Run on Red. It kept me interested throughout but wasn't a favourite of hers.

This was a large no from me. It took me literal weeks to read and I have no idea why I didn’t just DNF but I think you get to that point where you’ve gone so far, it’s feels like a complete waste of time not to push through and see it out. Slow, slow, slow… Did i say it was slow? It was an underwhelming read. The premise is awesome, and this type of trope has been done before and well, but this time it fell flat. There wasn’t a whole lot happening and when it did, it seemed to happen all at once. I felt lie there wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between the FMC, and there was very little other characters in the whole story to interact with. This one wasn’t for me.

I truly appreciated this ARC, in return for a true and honest opinion.

This book was fantastic!!! Once I started I couldn't put it down and finished in four days. Nya is a college student who is trying to finish her last semester. She needs cheap housing and finds what sounds like the perfect option. When she arrives she quickly realizes that the rental and her roommate are much worse than she expected but she's determined to make it through the semester. Unfortunately for Nya things continue to go downhill.
This book was so good and had me hooked from the start. I did not see the ending coming!
I highly recommend this book!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!

Special thanks to Netgalley and Dynamite Books for a free copy of this book This fast paced thriller was so good! I just had to read it in one sitting. Noelle West Ihli did an amazing job in creating an eerie and quite gross atmosphere. The events felt believable as Nya, the main character, is desperate for a living situation and a little naive given her upbringing. You need to read this book!

Room for Rent by Noelle West Ihli is a captivating psychological thriller that draws you in with its intriguing premise and keeps you hooked with its suspenseful storytelling. The novel follows Grace, a young woman seeking a fresh start, who rents a room in a seemingly perfect house. However, she quickly realizes that her new home harbors dark secrets and the people around her are not who they appear to be.

Ihli's writing is sharp and engaging, creating a tense atmosphere that keeps the reader on edge. The characters are well-developed, each with their own hidden motives and secrets, adding layers of complexity to the story. Grace's journey from seeking solace to uncovering the truth is both compelling and relatable, making her a strong protagonist.

One of the strengths of Room for Rent is its pacing. Ihli skillfully balances moments of intense suspense with quieter, introspective scenes, allowing the tension to build gradually. The twists and turns are well-executed, keeping the reader guessing until the very end. The revelations are surprising yet plausible, adding to the overall impact of the narrative.

Overall, Room for Rent is a well-crafted thriller that explores themes of trust, deception, and the search for truth. Noelle West Ihli has created a gripping and thought-provoking story that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers.

Oh, my goodness, this book makes me want to not ever let my daughter send my granddaughter to college!! This was so suspenseful through the whole book. I have never read any of Noelle's books but now I need to read them all. This book was really quick read. I think I read it in 2 days tops. So, this book is about Nye who is a nursing student that was brought up VERY conservatively where college was not really what her parents had planned for her. Nye is the typical college student trying to cram as many credits into her last semester and get buy as cheaply as she can. She rents a room from a shady dude, Sid, who actually did not turn out to be her worst nightmare. Her worst nightmare was the "nice guy turned stalker" that she met her first day of the semester. Curtis/Arlo had a history with Syd. I don't want to give away too many details, but Nye breaks up with Curtis and let's just say he doesn't take it very well and unfortunately Sid ends up being in the middle of all of it. Sid ended up not really being a threat except for being a slob, smoking a little weed, and playing his drum. Nye gets an eye opener when she tricks Arlo into letting her take a shower. Hidden passages, cameras, and hidden room all makes sense from what she had been hearing over the past couple months. Definitely a page turner and I can't wait to read more of Noelle's books.

Nya’s roommate isn’t who she was expecting. She’s freaked out and scared that she’s putting herself in a bad situation, but she doesn’t have any other choice unless she wants to live in her car. Will she make it until the end of the semester?

I read this in one sitting. I HAD to know what was going on and I was SHOOK when the secrets were revealed. I was so creeped out and my heart hurt for Nya.

Thank you so much Dynamite Books, Noelle West Ihli, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.

Noelle Ihli is an auto-buy author for me, and I jump at the chance each time she offers me an early read!

This author expertly crafts her characters and then puts them in situations that the average person fervently hopes they will never find themselves in. Nya is a college student with a lot of baggage. She is not the stereotypical "eats ramen on weekdays so she can party on the weekend" college student. She knows poverty intimately. Raised by religious fundamentalist parents, she was supposed to stay at home and learn how to be an obedient wife and start a family. Nya has bigger dreams, so she sets off on her own, desperately scrambling to get by. She's doubled up on classes, so after one stressful semester, she can graduate and pursue a career in healthcare.

The only place she can find to rent is a run-down, vaguely ominous home. When a strung-out man answers the door, this was more than Nya could bear. She fled, but desperation made her return. You may be thinking, "That's totally unrealistic! Hasn't this girl seen any horror movies or watched any true crime docs?" Well, you can stop all of that because Nya's fierce determination to break out of the confines of how she was raised was so well imbedded into the reader's mind at this point that all you can do is cheer her on.

As expected, strange things begin to happen. Despite barricading the door, it's open in the morning. Personal belonging are moved or missing. And despite being told to never go in the basement, the thumps she keeps hearing through the night pique her curiosity...soon, an alarming string of events will have her questioning if she will survive another night in this house.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
While a bit predictable, I still enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and had some decent suspense. Good job by the author. I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a little backed up with my ARC’s but working diligently to get caught up. I really found this book interesting! The plot was easy to get sucked into, I just wish the big reveal hadn’t been so glaring obvious for me. I always love guessing how things will turn out but this time it wasn’t near as complicated as I hoped for. I still enjoyed the story regardless and know others who like psychological thrillers will too!

I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!

I was really excited for this book based on the synopsis. Sadly, it was a letdown for me. Room for Rent was WAYYY too predictable. I spotted the ending coming from a mile away. I also did not find the book very suspenseful or thrilling, but perhaps that was due to the predicability. Parts were also super boring. Was a bit of a struggle to get through.

The characters did not do it for me, either. I didn't really care for any of them. I found Nya really annoying and naive!

I will still read other books by Noelle in the future. I think Room for Rent is a bit of a dud, which is an outlier for her!

Thank you Dynamite Books and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest revoiew.

This felt way more like YA then I was expecting it to. The thoughts/actions of the narrator were just so naive and the twist was very predictable. If either one was done better, the book would've been more memorable, but now it's going to be forgotten by me.

Enjoyed this book a lot! It was scary to think that this could really happen. I guessed the ending but still really enjoyed it.

I absolutely love this authors writing and her ability to immediately draw me into the story, but unfortunately this one was just an okay read for me compared to her other two that I loved. Same compulsive writing style, but I just wasn’t super interested or invested until the last 15% or so. Regardless - if you’re looking for a fast paced popcorn thriller that you can finish in a sitting or two, give this a read. Thank you Netgalley and Dynamite books for my review copy!

“Room for rent” honestly, this book was not what I was expecting, it’s entertaining but I think it lacked suspense, some parts were exciting like the beginning of the story but it got boring in the end, it felt rushed, the characters lacked personality, to me there was no introduction, I wish it was more interesting but this story still was enjoyable to read but it is not a story I would be able to re-read unfortunately. I would definitely check out other books she has written though, just this one was not it for me.

Pheww. Talk about unsettling(but in the best way possible)

"For anyone who's survived a roommate from hell. My you never have to label your food again."

Imagine this: you are disowned by your very religious family because your beliefs just aren't the same. Trying to make it through the last semester of college in a new town with no money, no job, and no where to stay. And your new roommate gives you the absolute HEEBIE JEEBIES. But it's only four months. Things can't get that bad, right!?! What else could possibly go wrong!?!

ALL THE THINGS!!

Ihli grips you from the very begining with this unique fast moving plot.Chalked full of unsettling, sometimes claustrophobic twists and turns that will have you jumping at every sound you hear in the night.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dynamite Books for gifting me an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honost thoughts and opinions! I'll defenitly be sleeping with one eye open from now on! 🖤

Nya is a college student who is looking for a room to rent as she finishes her semester. She finds a roommate, but unfortunately he is more than she bargained for. Fear and anxiety are her new best friends as she struggles to figure out who Sid really is.

What I expected to get was a simple story about a roommate gone wrong (kinda like Single White Female). Well, I sorta got that (without giving anything away) and so much more! Fast paced and gets way creepier as you go along, Is it the house or the roommate? I could not put this book down. For the record, I will never EVER live with a stranger.

Nya is desperate for uni accommodation. It's her final semester and the stakes are high. So when she finds an affordable room she snaps it up immediately. It's rundown, dirty and dreary and it turns out Sidney is not the female roommate she was expecting but is in fact a creepy man that barely leaves the house. Soon, her things start to go missing from the kitchen and it seems someone has been going through her belongings. She's suspicious and feels unsafe but it's all she can afford. What's really happening in this house? Is Sidney the roommate from hell or is there something more sinister afoot?

Reading this book was a rollercoaster that had me on edge the entire time. Just when you think you've a grasp at what's going on, or what's coming next, Ihli turns everything on its head. The writing was so engaging but also unsettling as it created such an eerie atmosphere. You couldn't help feel for Nya throughout this book! Such a sweet soul trying to find her place in the world to only end up in this house of horrors. The book builds to a very explosive finale that had me shook. I can't wait to read more from this author, always have a fun time reading their work!

Thanks NetGalley, Noelle W. Ihli and Dynamite Books for this copy! 🩶
