I was literally hooked on this book right from the beginning. It was a right page turner. It was exciting. Thrilling. Had me on the edge of my chair. So many twists and turns. You will not get bored
This was a creepy, atmospheric read. While I couldn't understand why the MC would ignore so, so many red flags, it made for a spine tingling horror read. Thanks for the ARC! I'll be reading more Nelle West Ihli books in the future
Great book, quick and entertaining. Well written characters and plot that makes you guessing until the end. Recommended
So, for me, this was a letdown. I really like this author and I was super excited to see that there was a new book coming out… I really liked Run on Red and immediately went to NetGalley and requested this one. Unfortunately I seem to be on outlier island yet again… lets start with what I did like (this is going to be spoiler free - because I do think a lot of people will like this).
I found this book to be very enjoyable and fast paced, some things were a little outlandish, and there was a little bit of an eye roll at some of the characters choices...but I never wanted to put this down, and found myself zooming through to reach the end!
This is my third book by Ihli, and she never disappoints! Room for rent tells the story of Nya, who takes a room, sight unseen. You can feel the tension mounting, chapter by chapter. Knowing that without a doubt something really bad is about to happen. A definite must-read for thriller lovers!
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Predictable but enjoyable. I would have enjoyed the paperback vs the ebook arc.
Loved the suspense right when I’m thinking blah blah blah who cares 😂😂 BAM ! Oh okay. I need constant action !
I love this author and read all her work.
Thanks #Netgalley
Noelle is easily becoming a new favorite author for me. Room for Rent wasn’t my first read & it surely won’t be my last. Fast paced, heart pounding & genuinely hard to put down. Some twists may have been a little more predictable in this one versus previous books BUT still really good nonetheless. Honestly, it may make you question ever looking for a roommate that you don’t already know. Thank you NetGalley & Dynamite Books for an eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
Overall a well written book. However, the major twist was discovered early on at about 45-50%. I also felt like there were some loose ends that were not necessarily tied up at the end of the book. Well written and worth the read- just wish that more of the details were tied up in the end.
Creepy vibes from page 1 and I just HAD to read this in one sitting. Phenomenal elements to this story! A must read!
Nya only has one semester left at Boise State University before she graduates and she is completely broke. When she finds a furnished place online at the last minute that is half the price of anything else she had seen listed, she jumps at the opportunity.
Upon arrival, Nya discovers that not only is the house in worse condition than she thought it would be, but she also thought she was going to have a female roommate. Turns out that the Sidney that had listed it is actually Sid, a very dirty guy who does drugs and gives her the creeps.
She doesn’t have much choice but to stay because classes are about to start and she can’t afford anything else and it’s only four months. Suck it up, buttercup.
At least she meets a nice guy named Curtis at school that shares his dinners with her and finally makes her feel like she has a friend.
It’s not long before she suspects Sid is sneaking into her room and spying on her. How long can she actually stay in this run down place with a roommate that terrifies her?
I was so excited to get an ARC of Room for Rent because I’ve loved the previous books by Noelle W. Ihli. Her writing usually has you gripping the book and flying through the pages. Unfortunately this book didn’t keep me engaged. I didn’t like any of the characters and it was very predictable. The majority of the story dragged on until the last 30%. I would still recommend Ihli’s books and think some will still enjoy this book but others may not.
Thank you Dynamite books for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book!! It was definitely a slow starter for me, but once I was in, I was hooked! The twist was not what I thought it would be! Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of thrillers! It will definitely have me keeping one eye open for the next few nights. Haha
This is my first book by Noelle W. Ihli. I was hooked from the first page! It’s a slow build but you won’t be disappointed. There’s a lot of twist and turns. I was definitely at the edge of my seat, I enjoyed it because I can actually see this playing out in real life.
This was a 4⭐
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and was so excited that it was just in time for Spooky Season.
Nya is returning to college for her last semester of nursing. Unfortunately, her best friend and roommate graduated last term. As a broke student, her opportunities are minimal on where to live and how to afford necessities like textbooks and groceries. She quickly learns cheap rent isn’t worth her safety and sanity.
I found Nya an interesting character. I was intrigued by how she doubted so many of her thoughts because of being raised by extremely conservative religious parents. Her desperation and independence were relatable and it broke my heart she felt NEEDED to risk her safety.
I had hoped for a bit more tension and spookiness - I would say this is more thriller than scary. Not a bad thing, just not what I had been expecting. If I was expecting just a thriller then I would say it hit 4.5⭐ for sure!
There are some interesting twists and I definitely enjoyed this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dynamite books for this early read. This book was really good and it has solid twists in it . I read the authors’ previous novel and I was interested in reading more.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Room for Rent by Noelle West Ihli.
First off, shoutout to Idaho! It's not often that I get to read about my home state.
This is a solid three star read. It has a strong start, a girl escaping her super religious family in order to be a nurse, finds a cheap place to live with a creepy AF dude for a roommate. Unfortunately, it got stale, and kind of gross, really fast. I probably could have told you exactly how it was going to shake out within the first third of the story. Still a quick, fun, read.
I really liked this! I am a fan of this author after run on red and this gave me the thrills and chills, keeping the lights on, with good twists!
About a year ago, I discovered @noelleihliauthor when I read Ask for Andrea in practically one sitting. It ended up being one of my favorite thrillers of the year so I was elated when I saw she had a new thriller out!
Room for Rent probably isn’t the best book to read if you’re at a point in your life where you need to have roommates. It was super creepy and I couldn’t stop reading. I just had to see how poor, sweet Nya dealt with her roommate from hell. I was able to see one of the big twists coming pretty easily, but there were still twists I wasn’t expecting. Overall, this was a quick, suspenseful read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will say that I’m glad this didn’t come out until after my college days!
This was a great read! I've loved every one of Noelle's books! This one kept my attention throughout the book. The ending as a little predictable, but I still highly recommend due to the suspense and characters' relationships.
Nya is in desperate need of a place to stay while she finishes her senior year or college. What’s the worst that can happen? All alone back home she meets a man who seems to be at the right place at the right time. Will she survive the semester with a roommate from hell?
I really enjoyed this book. It was quick read!
