This book was ok. It's a super fast read, but I feel like it was rushed. I fee like I read a book that someone took out most of the story and just left the creepy thriller-type parts. More character development would have been nice, I know the main characters background was brought up, but it seems as though that was an afterthought.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this advanced copy.

Wow....just wow! Nya is in her last semester of nursing school and moves into a dump. Can she make it work for the semester? Her roommate is a creep but Curtis, her boyfriend, swoops in to save her. Can she deal with a creepy roommate spying on her? The twist in this book is AMAZING! I am going to be talking about this book forever.

What a zinger! This book will have you turning the pages at break-neck speed!
The story is about a down on her luck college student who ends up in a dodgy living arrangement with a less than stand up bloke. The book is so good and fast paced with huge tension and a main character you can really get behind.
An absolute triumph!

Holy Crap! I read this so fast! This book follows a down on her luck college student who ends up in a questionable living arrangement with a creepy guy. The synopsis interested me right off the bat but I had no idea how good and fast paced this would be ! Noelle does not miss, I loved Run on Red but this is even better. High tension, fast paced and a main character you are rooting for. I can’t wait to read her next book!!

Let me start this with some unpleasant honesty: I was not expecting to enjoy this book. After being so angry at Ask For Andrea and DNFing it (you see, I went in blind after hearing how everyone, absolutely everyone loved it – everyone who loved psych thrillers! – I had no idea what it was going to be about, but it turned out to be PARANORMAL not PSYCH and it was such a letdown for me then, if it makes sense? I expected psych, but it was a ghost story, nooooo.), I really didn’t expect much from this one. Yet I wanted to read it. And I did.
And. It was unique. It was weird. It was so well written. It was creepy af, the creepiness level of this book was out of this world. The creepiness was also atmospheric. It was palpable through the Kindle’s % as I kept reading. It was good. It was more than good. It was perfect. It was anxiety-inducing. As someone who is crippled by real-life anxiety, I love non-real-life-related anxiety. It makes me feel good, it makes me feel safe, it makes me feel alive.
I absolutely loved Nya, the main character. Her struggles are written in a way that anyone who has struggled with basic necessities being met, will find it relatable.
I’m sure some will say that the ending was predictable, but I feel like it was not *predictable*. It was, like, the scene was set up and built stone by stone, revealing clue after clue, piecing a puzzle together. It was never meant to be a breathtaking shocker of a twist. It was a slow-burn-reveal of a twist. although I’m not sure why I’m using the words “slow-burn”, as nothing was really slow about this book, even the pace was perfect.
Yeah, and returning to Ask for Andrea once again, there was one moment when I was about to look up what others have said about this book, as I was starting to get seriously worried that this might be yet another sneaky ghost story. But. Nope. No ghosts, none at all! Only crazies. Human and alive, and crazy af.

Oh, and a bonus surprise. When I was done reading, there was a QR code that led me to… a bonus chapter. I have just downloaded it to my Kindle. Like, 10 minutes ago. I will read it, of course. But not tonight.

p.s.
and I really feel like I should apologize for my hate for Ask for Andrea, for bringing it up and for mentioning it here, yet how this book made me feel is something so so so different from what that book did... oh well.

OMG! Noelle never disappoints! I was so excited to be approved for this ARC! Very creepy and captures your attention! Short chapters are an added bonus for me because I'm busy and have a short attention span haha so it makes it easier to stay invested in a book! I look forward to more books from this author! Thank you NetGalley for this opportunity!

𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: i love Noelle. she’s my auto buy/auto read author and i was so excited when i got approved for this book and boyyyyy trust Noelle to keep you engrossed all through. 👏i just kept flipping through, wanting to know what was going to happen. the tension was tensioning. Noelle is sooooo gooood when it comes to being very descriptive. (she’s so detailed. omggg) cos if i was Nya, i’m definitely not staying in that gore shack of a house. i absolutely enjoyed the book. 😍😍

however, i felt there wasn’t so much of a plot twist in this book, as i figured out some of it. but there were, some revelations that had me in a shock and i absolutely loved it. this book was very tensing and you wouldn’t want to put it down. 😮‍💨

i love when an author does not leave me on a cliffhanger. thank you Noelle. 💜 also, i love the extra book ‘Bottom Feeder’ (ugh this title is so coooolllll) and how it shed light on what happened between Sid & Arlo. 👏👏 you should read this book already.

Noelle in her ‘Note from the Author’ said ‘I can promise you that I read every single review. Because each one is a new window into this story’ and trust me, she definitely does!!! 🥳

When Nya is left with one final semester of undergrad before graduating with her nursing degree, and her with her best friend already out of school and several states away waiting for Nya to join her in four months, Nya simply needs a place to bunk for a little bit. So when a cheap option pops up on Facebook, she jumps at it. But in person, the place, and her roommate are not at all what she imagined. And then she starts hearing strange noises at night, and her new roomie’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic. Now Nya’s not worried about her class load, she’s worried about surviving the semester…..because suddenly she’s wondering if she has a target on her back.

This book had a great atmosphere, because you could tell something was off with the whole situation almost immediately. It was just one huge red flag waving in the wind. But Nya just ignores everything and stays anyway - not good for her, but certainly for the story.

I have to say, this is one book where you’re able to figure out some things for yourself, but it’s still exciting, because I know I still absolutely wanted to see how things fit together and how they would end up. And it was really awesomely put together. There were some really creepy twists that were thrown in there and I was really taken aback at points. Like, “whoa.”

No spoilers, but don’t get ahead of yourself with this one. Just go with the flow. There’s an action-packed ending and some creepy plot points that you don’t want to miss.

It also makes me glad I no longer have to deal with roommates. Except my husband and dog; and they’re fine - I chose them, after all :)

So grab this book for a creepy fall read, and I’ll be watching for more from this author!

Noelle will make you re think having a roommate.

Nya is in her last year of college in Idaho. She finds a cheap rental and everything seems too bad to be true, because it is.

I have been obsessed with Noelle’s work since reading The Thicket. She can send your heart rate up page after page. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and this book only takes place over 2 short months.

This would be a 5⭐️ Read but I figured out the twist 60% through but still overall enjoyed the book. This book really picks up towards the end and keeps going until the very end.

Noelle really toes that line of horror and thriller which I love!

Nya is on track to graduate early. Her finally semester is here. She just needs to get through living at the worst house she's ever seen. It's just one semester, what's the worse that can happen? It's an old house so the noise she hears are normal, right? So what if her roommate drank her milk and lurks around, that's normal.... right....?
Noelle did a great job naming the name character Nya. Nya means Purpose which is fitting for her background but also Tenacity which is fitting for her present. Nya is tenacious is her pursuit of graduating early but also getting through the semester alive. Mid way I did expect one of the twists but I didn't expect a few others. Noelle laid out the crumps perfectly but you can't grasp all of them. If you have roommates, you may want to skip this one so that you can sleep tonight.
Thank you to NetGalley, Noelle W. Ihli & Dynamite Books for this ARC. This book is, fittingly, being released Friday, October 13th.

I was not shocked by this book, but I did enjoy reading it! The writing is very realistic which I am fond of and the level of creepiness was perfect.

This book gave me so much anxiety! Not only does it tackle how scary it is to be a woman in this world but it also showcased food insecurity, debt and religious trauma. 4 stars for this book.

I have yet to read a book by this author that I don't love! This one started off strong but did slow down in the middle portion and was a little repetitive ("suck it up, buttercup"), which is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. I did guess the twists but I honestly don't mind that at all. Looking forward to the next book!

Wow, what a suspenseful book! The details were great, and at times I felt as stressed out as the main character Nya was feeling. I could see the scenes in my mind, and it made for a really great reading experience. The ending was fantastic! I enjoyed this book and will definitely read more from this author!

I'd say, it was an OK read. I still enjoyed despite some parts being predictable. At the beginning I really got an eyebrow raised like, Nya can clearly see red flags on renting the place but... oh well she still went in, got me reading until the last page. It's a 3.5 rounded to 4 for me.

I loved Run on Red by Noelle West Ihli so requesting this new story was a no-brainer. I enjoyed this story as well, but some of it felt a little too much at times.

Thank you #NetGalley and #DynamiteBooks for letting me read this early. The story was unfortunately quite predictable, and I did anticipate how it was going to pan out about halfway through. But nonetheless it kept me hooked and I read it in a day.
