“A High Tide Murder” is the second instalment of the Cannabis Café Mysteries, a cute new cozy murder mystery series that began last year. I read the first book last year and am happy with how this one built on it. You can read this as a stand alone but I think it’s better to read the series in order.

Chloe is a 28-year-old owner of her new “Baked by Chloe” cannabis café. Only open for a few weeks, the café has been benefiting from the high tourism and traffic because of the Surfing competition happening in the small town of Azalea Bay.

Chloe is friends with the brother of one of the athletes, Ethan, in the Pro Challenger Surf competition, and they quickly become friends as well. Ethan and his best friend Aaron have been surfing together for most of their lives and are sharing a crappy motel room while in town for the competition.

When Aaron shows up dead in their room of an apparent suicide, Ethan can’t believe it. He knows his friend would never end his own life. The police however are busy due to the competition and aren’t suspicious of foul play. Chloe, the amateur sleuth, solved a murder last month and so she gets involved and works on uncovering what happened to Aaron.

This was a lovely book and fun to read. The unique setting of a Cannabis Café is fun and educational. The author takes great care to teach about THC, CBD, and their recreational and medicinal properties.

This book featured a budding romance as well which added an extra layer for Chloe, since she swore off men and moved home in the last book after finding out her fiancé had been cheating on her and got someone else pregnant.

The ending of the book also sets up what may happen in the next book so I am excited to keep up with this series.

3.5, rounded. It is nice to see that the second book in this series is as high quality as the first one, and the "novelty" factor isn't going to be what carries this series. Lots is happening in this book, and it really highlights the community that will be at the center of it.

This is the second book in the Cannabis Café Mystery series. While it can be read as a stand alone, you will have a deeper insight into the characters if you read book one. This is your standard cozy mystery - small town, shocking murder, super nosy lead character, and non-involved police force. The insertion of the cannabis café does make this a tad bit different in that it touches on a topic that could be construed as sensitive. The café does play a definite part, and you do learn about cooking with cannabis.

This book does follow the typical plot of cozies with Chloe (the main lead), doing really questionable actions in the pursuit of finding the truth. There is a surfing competition and a man is dead - is it suicide or murder? While suicide and mental health issues are mentioned, this topic is not delved into. There are many characters introduced, and many were not really actualized. It might have helped to have less characters, and to have got to know a little bit about them, to help connect with them.

Tourists are plentiful in Azalea Bay due to a surf competition, and it has brought many people into Chloe’s café. Aaron Gill is initially thought to be a contender, but then his friend Ethan finds him dead in their hotel room. Ethan doesn’t believe that Aaron would have taken his own life, but it they don’t find evidence to prove otherwise quickly it may not matter.

Chloe is run off her feet with the long lines of customers, but that doesn’t mean she won’t jump at the chance to bring guilty parties to justice.

This book was the second installment in this series—I read the first book as well. I’ve really enjoyed both books and look forward to others in the series.

Emily George is back with book two in her uniquely set cozy mystery series.

Chloe thinks things are settling down after she solved a mystery in her small town. She's opened her cannabis cafe and everything is going well. It doesn't take long, though, before there's a new mystery for her to solve.

The characters and mystery were interesting and well done. There was also a nice cast of secondary characters and they, and the cafe, added a lot to the story. I am looking forward to seeing what's next in this series.

I have long been a cozy mystery fan and have always wanted a little more, mysteries that push the envelope beyond the idyllic setting and cutesy characters. This series does the trick! It has all the cozy mystery vibes but takes it up a notch by adding in the cannabis-laced treats available at the café. Chloe is fun, smart, and savvy, and although I’m not sure exactly why she felt compelled to investigate this particular murder (it’s usually because a friend is wrongfully accused), I enjoyed following along with her as she tried to find the murderer.

The blend of the cannabis cafe, interpersonal relationships, and the central mystery captivated me from the start.

Chloe's passions for cannabis benefits and her strong family ties added depth to the narrative. While the mystery was somewhat predictable, I still found it engaging and enjoyable.

A High Tide Murder by Emily George, book two in the Cannabis Café Mysteries series, is a very well written mystery that will keep you entertained from page one until the last page. Chloe recently opened a cannabis cafe in the small coastal California town of Azalea Bay. The town is hosting a surfing competition, and everyone is shocked when one of the competitors is found dead. Was it suicide, as the police claim, or murder, as Chloe believes? Chloe, of course, feels obligated to investigate, making some questionable decisions concerning her safety along the way. There is no shortage of suspects since the deceased had some issues with money and girlfriends.

Ms. George builds up the story by adding mystery and suspense with twists and turns, making it so you will not want to put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery and loved the way the author keeps you engaged all the way through the book.

What a fun book! I hadn't read the first book in this series, but I had no trouble jumping right into this story and this town. (and I will be going back to read the first one!) I was so intrigued by all the aspects of this book; the weed cafe, the surf competition, the various relationships, and of course the mystery. Everything was seamless connected and I cannot imagine the energy Chloe had to have to keep it all going, but she did! I loved reading about her passion for the many benefits of her cannabis products and her commitment to meeting with and using local growers. Her love for her family jumps off the page and I love how it is such a big part of her story. I don't know much about surfing, but was easily entranced by the thrill and the skill of it and the massive surfing world surrounding the competitors. The mystery was tricky and so well done - and I was absolutely shocked by the ending!

I already cannot wait for more of this series!

Book two in this series and I fell in to it from page one, we are back in Azalea Bay with Chloe and her wonderful family and friends, her cannabis café Baked by Chloe has opened and it is a huge success, Chloe is working hard to keep up with demand and the annual surfing competition is starting, it is an exciting time until, one of the competitors is found dead.

Aaron Gill is a very good friend of Ethan another competitor, who is the brother of one of Chloe’s friends Matt, Aaron has been struggling with personal matters but is a strong contender for the competition but when Ethan, Matt and Chloe find him in his hotel room with a note and a bottle of tablets everyone is devastated but Ethan knows he did not take his own life and soon Chloe is doing what she does best and that is investigating but will she put herself in danger again?

The clues are adding up but the police are convinced that it was suicide and Chloe and Ethan know different and when a young woman is attacked things heat up and Chloe puts herself in danger will they tie up the clues and find the killer before the surf competition is over and everyone leaves town?

This is such a fabulous story fast paced and filled with awesome characters who join in with Chloe to unearth the killer, of course the food in the café is so yummy and we learn a lot about legal cannabis use and how it helps so many people. I do highly recommend this one to any cosy mystery lover and I am eagerly awaiting more trips to Azalea Bay with Chloe, Grandma Rose, Aunt Dawn, Jake and Antonio.

Ethan firmly believes that his friend Aaron, who was the odds on favorite for a surfing competition, was murdered and he enlists Chloe to investigate in this second in a fun new series. Chloe, trained in Paris, has turned her talents to CBD to help those dealing with medical issues. She also sleuths- and she's darn good at it. Yes it's a classic cozy but I liked this (as I did the first one) for Chloe's grandmother and aunt and the rest of the gang. It's got a good heart. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Chloe Barnes has just opened up her a new cannabis bakery and her thc and cbd treats are a huge hit. Business is booming thanks to an annual Pro Surfing competition that has brought surfers and tourists alike into town.
One of Chloe's new friends has a Australian half brother competing in the event, Ethan Wilson. Ethan has a Best friend who's a favorite to win it all, Aaron Gill. Aaron's been having a tough time and when he is found dead, it is ruled a suicide. Ethan refuses to believe it's possible and asks Chloe to help find the truth. The truth ends up being much more complicated. Chloe and her family are lovely and you quickly fall in love with them and want to root for them. A great cozy series and one I can't wait to read more from.

Fairly predictable mystery, but it was still a good read that I enjoyed. I only thought it was predictable because I solved the mystery before the characters did.

What she does not have time for is assisting in a murder investigation. However, when her good friend's brother's roommate is discovered dead, she finds herself deep in the middle of the investigation.

A High Tide Murder is well-written and has all the elements of a great cozy mystery, including fun recipes at the end of the book. I highly recommend A High Tide Murder to anyone looking for a well-written cozy filled with fun characters, a small-town setting, and an exciting mystery. I'll definitely be continuing with this series. I can't wait to see what Chloe and her friends get up to next.

This book has all the elements of a cozy mystery. A cafe, a baker who snoops around, family, cannabis, a surfing contest, murder a maybe boyfriend, the snoop almost getting killed in the process of finding the killer. It’s pretty standard. Is this the season of mermaids? I keep getting books with mermaids. The characters are likable enough and it moves along well.
