What a great read. The dark atmosphere with the 2 characters and their backgrounds leaves you wanting to keep reading. As their relationship unfolds, the harder it was to put it down.
First thing from this author I had ever read, and I will definitely be coming back for more.
As expected, Kelly Andrew wove together a deliciously dark romance that had me hooked from start to finish.
The depth of the characters with their past and present woven together with trauma and lies was beautiful.
I hadn’t put the names together before, but when Lane and Colton showed up, I was delighted. The doors in the sky was such a cool allude to The Whispering Dark and I was happy to see my favorite characters.
This book was a gloriously haunting tale bringing magic and horror together. I would read it forever if I could.
I really wanted to like this book, but honestly, I just couldn’t connect with the characters. They seemed to change from scene to scene. And the banter between the mc and his love interest was excruciating to read.
Completely loved this book, this was my first time being introduced to the author and I have to say I will be reading more of her books. The ending made me cry, but also the writing was amazing and the plot was easy to follow. Scifi with a bit of horror. The romance was everything and I just loved it. I have no other words.
A captivatingly intricate tale of love delving into loyalty, fate, and the shadows we hide within ourselves. While the start was sluggish, once the pace quickened, I found it impossible to set aside. This book was expertly crafted, it elicits feelings of fear, intrigue, insight, and a unique sense of romance.
I want to thank NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review as well as the author for this free copy.
Thank you for an ARC copy of this book.
This was a beautiful book. It was so unique and not like anything I’ve read before. At the beginning there was a lot of switching between timelines which I found a bit jarring at first. But it was important for the story and the farther into the book I got the more hooked I became.
This is really an incredible growth story and part of me doesn’t even have words to describe it. It was creepy, and intriguing, and almost like fantasy mixed with horror mixed with true crime. There were so many twists and surprises it really kept me flying through this book.
An absolutely beautiful story about the danger—and necessity—of choosing love in the face of horror. Andrew crafts three teenagers who are as flawed as they are compelling and forces the reader to bear witness to their rise and demise. One of the best books I've read this year; I wouldn't be surprised if it dominates bestseller lists in 2024.
This book was SO good. I was scared of the dark and unable to put it down even when it was keeping me up at night. The writing was beautiful and tragic and full of longing! Parts felt a little “out of the blue” but it all came together in a heartbreakingly hopeful way.
I really wanted to like this one but I couldn't for the simple fact that I couldn't read it.
There were no accessibility features which baffled me because I've had other books on this site that all had at least 2 accessibility features. I'm not picky, I just need one but alas, there were none. The font was incredibly small so reading with eyeballs was not going to happen. I tired using apple's screen reader but the way the book was formatted, it didn't go from chapter to chapter like I was expecting, instead, it cut off in random spots and I couldn't figure out where to restart every couple minutes.
I got about half way through (part III) before I gave up trying. I was expecting a romance but instead, it was a horror that wasn't scary or atmospheric. I'm not really sure what this book was trying for but I feel like from what I read, this fell really short.
WOW. this one really surprised me. this was such a dark, atmospheric read that truly tests the limits in the best way possible. all the relationships are so richly developed and addicting, and her writing is truly so captivating with such a gothic edge. i’ve never read something quite like this and, as not to spoil, i implore everyone go out and read this for themselves for a darkly enthralling read
Surprisingly exposition heavy for a book meant for a younger crowd. It surprised me. I imagine it will go over alright with young adults, probably a three to four star range.
Thank you to NetGalley and Scholastic for the ARC.
This was a really good book, I was completely hooked from the first page and stayed up way to maye reading because I couldn't put it down definitely recommend
Thank you so.much to NetGalley and the publisher for this book.
Took me a while to get into.it, but that was all me. To much going on. When I was finally able to slow down and relax it was smooth going.
Worth the read.
Recommend!
I absolutely loved Kelly Andrew's first debut and Your Blood, My Bones was one of my most anticipated reads for 2024. This book has such a fantastic way of building creeping dread and fear, mixed with compelling characters, and twisty plots.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the book and the characters were likeable. However I think it would have been even better if we heard more on Peter and his past lives. The book felt extremely slow while Wyatt was at her ancestral home and i was raging at how they just seemed to sit around waiting for the wards to fail. Peter says he'll treasure l teach her but then only tries 1 time. He just keeps secrets and she doesn't really dig trying to get to the bottom of anything. I was so frustrated for most of this book, why didn't Peter just come clean and tell her James was actually the beast? He just let the beast be in the house close to Wyatt. Finally the action starts happening at the end and it just felt so rushed and I think the ending would have been stronger with more indepth writing for the final scenes. I will say I did like that it wasn't a "happily ever after" ending though.

Andrew's sophomore novel improves upon her ability to craft a haunting, memorable novel that defies genre conventions. In YOUR BLOOD, MY BONES she cunningly weaves together elements of romance, horror, and fantasy to create a suspenseful world in which we never know where the story may take us from one page to the next. Each of the three main characters—Wyatt, Peter, and James—take on voices of their own that leave their own impressions. My only critique of this novel is the way in which Peter's character arc was handled. Without spoiling anything, I only want to say that his character had much more potential than was utilized and his ending subtracted from the impact and message of the overall story. Otherwise, this was a stellar novel that I enjoyed deeply and barely put down from the time I picked it up. This may even outshine Andrew's debut novel!
Kelly Andrew DOES NOT miss. Yet another 5 star read and I don’t think I can even begin to express how much he his particular book means to me.
Her writing style speaks to me in ways I would never expect and this story is a beautiful example of that. I’m still processing the story and will update this review later once I can get a better grasp on my emotions but I’m already adding this to my automatic book recs to all my friends.
I really enjoyed this book but the ending left me wanting. It felt frenetic and rushed. I would’ve liked to see it developed a little more, like the other parts of the book. I liked the character development and loved the arc of the story. An ending that spectacular should have a little more time dedicated to it instead of feeling like it was done in a hurry.
Kelly Andrew delivers another spooky, madness-tinged read that is sure to delight fans of her previous book. Although loaded with a lot of backstory and recollections, Wyatt and Pedyr's present-day conflict is original and worth the push. Wyatt's growth from oblivious child into a young adult who must grapple with the weight of the dark world the adults created is equal parts addicting and devastating to follow. The ending was a little grim for me personally, but I can see how other readers would appreciate the diversion from normal contemporary fantasy-horror expectations.
A solid story perfect for fans of juicy, descriptive writing that fearlessly delves into the occult.
Thanks netgalley and scholaatic for letting me review this book!
Wyatt Westlock sorrento get childhood tucked in the secret places of Willow Heath, her family home, with hee best friends- clever, cruel James, and quiet, mysterious Peter. When her father passes she returns after five years of estrangement to burn the house to the ground, but stumbles upon dark secrets and magic she never knew, and a beast she must destroy.
The premise of this book has all my favorite things- young love (triangle?), dark secrets, begrudging imortality, magic, begrudging imprtality!? Yes, please. But there were a lot of things about the community at Willow Heath that I wanted to know that were never explained, and much about Peter's predicament that I wanted much more from, without even mentioning James. If I don't think too hard about it, I still like it, but i wish a different person escaped in the end. For a young reader, this would be a winner though. 3.5/5.
