Well, well, Kelly Andrew with another incredible book. I'm not surprised. This book was creepy, unsettling and beautifully written. Pick this up, immediately.
So good! I love Kelly's writing, it has a very literary quality. This had some scary moments and was achingly romantic. Recommend.
After her father's death, Wyatt Westlock returns to her family farm to find her childhood friend Peter chained up in the basement. As she uncovers her family's horrific past, Wyatt discovers that Peter is immortal and her family has killed him hundreds of times before in ritual experiments. Though she wants nothing more than to leave, dark forces are descending on the farm and Wyatt must master her unpredictable magic to repair the wards. But Peter just wants an end to his suffering--and that means he has to kill Wyatt.
Elements of supernatural horror and suspense weave together in this slow burn, fantasy romance, perfect for fans of The Raven Boys. Kelly Andrew's beautiful prose enhances this haunting story of childhood friends as they face the monsters residing on Willow Heath. Though slow to unfold, it's well paced and never boring; I was invested in every page, eager to unravel the secrets of Willow Heath. Narrated from a dual point of view, I loved both Wyatt and Peter's chapters. Both characters were well fleshed out and well written.
This has been one of my most anticipated reads, so a huge thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the advance copy! I loved this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Scholastic, Scholastic Press for an eARC of Your Blood, My Bones!
Absolutely incredible and full of twists and turns that you just don’t see coming until they smack you right in the face and your feelings. I absolutely LOVED this book! I am the biggest fan of The Whispering Dark and this has all the same eerie and spooky vibes. Perfect friends to enemies to lovers. Your Blood, My Bones covers themes such as bonds of friendship, love, loss, grief, betrayal, and forgiveness. Definitely going to have a place of honor on my bookshelf!
Three friends and their twisted relationship in a cursed small town, an immortal boy being sacrificed and killed over and over, a girl with a dark family legacy and deadly powers, and the boy who is not who he seems at all. Wyatt Westlock never thought she'd be back in her family's farmhouse, the one she inherited after her father's death and all she wants to do is burn it down. This farmhouse, this town, was the start of her heartbreak, and where she lost her two dearest childhood friends, Peter and James. Yet when she goes to inspect the house before setting it on fire she finds Peter strung up in chains in the basement left for dead.Wyatt doesn't know that Peter has suffered hundreds of ritualistic deaths on her family's property. Peter is semi-immortal and bound to the form, locked in a cycle of deaths and painful rebirths... and he's been trapped in the basement for five years waiting for Wyatt to come back... because he needs her blood, he needs to sacrifice and end her line in order to be freed. The spells that had protected the property have unravelled since Wyatt's parents are gone and now the ancient forces that lurk in the woods are getting ready to escape and destroy everything... but the only way to repair the words is to work with Peter, the only person who knows how to harness her powers, yet he wants her dead. Then there is James, the third friend, the one who is back as well, yet he doesn't seem normal and Peter is hiding a dark secret about James... The more Peter reveals to Wyatt about what was really happening in their childhood, what was being done to him and what her family was involved in the more she begins to unravel... yet one thing remains, this twisted love they have. Will they make it out alive? This was a tragic, heartbreaking, yet amazing read. The story has horror elements as well as such a touching story on friendship and love. Peter and Wyatt love each other despite everything, despite how they were never fated to be, despite how many secrets and blood stains they have, they love each other so much. The friendship between all three of them was so sweet. That ending was terrible, terribly sad and so heartbreaking but I understand why it had to be done that way yet I wish it wasn't I wish they all got their happy ending together after the horrors and atrocities they all faced. This book is brutal and angsty yet the romance was so well done and the story really grabs you until the end. I would absolutely recommend this for fans of darker romances and stories!
*Thanks Netgalley and Scholastic, Scholastic Press for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
This was an absolute masterpiece, thank you so much to NetGalley in the publishers for allowing me early access to read this. Kelly Andrews has an amazing way of weaving creepy tales, interlaced with love and feelings. I love the fact that she incorporated characters from previous works into this one, it really was a great addition. I almost certainly be purchasing, to add to my shelves, as well as gifting this book to friends.

I kept getting sidetracked with how the story was playing out. It’s a good concept of the book; however it felt it was jumbled all together between the past and present within the book.
Would I get the book? I’ll more than likely reread it when it does release. Would I recommend it to anyone? Unsure at the moment.
When Wyatt inherits her family's home and decides to burn it, she discovers something from her past that she can't shake.
I picked this up on a whim for the spooky season and I was not disappointed. The premise is pretty dark and morbid, especially if you're someone who strays away from ritualistic killings/religious imagery in your horror. However, I didn't feel bogged down. The characters were well-motivated and the story was very compelling. There's even some romance!
Thank you to the publisher for my arc!
Kelly Andrew has this way of ripping your heart out as you read her books and Your Blood, My Bones was no different. i have never cried so much when finishing a book. the found family/friendship in this book just hurt because you want everyone to be safe and happy and that is not the case. But overall i still really enjoyed this and do recommend this and the Whispering Dark!
I really loved this book! It was full of adventure and I loved how the author developed the characters! I was never bored because of how well the author kept the story going. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.
I loved the story, the world building and meeting the different characters. I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading it.
Y’all I’m bawling my eyes out right now.
Full on CRYING.
This did not end how I expected it to. I thought I had to all figured out and then I didn’t and I just started bawling.
This book.
This FUCKIN BOOK.
There were some places where I was kinda confused. Things weren’t described, kinda just put there and we were expected to go along with it. I kinda get why things were kinda spotty with Pedyr considering all the secrets he held, but even during his chapters some things just didn’t make sense. His deaths, in general and how his different lives worked. Like the tear in the sky and how him and the beast got to Wyatt’s world in the first place. How Wyatt and her family were essentially witches. The way Wyatt and Pedyr went from being kinda enemies to lovers. Pedyr didn’t really hate her, and Wyatt really did love him, but the way it worked just was kinda weird. The beast in general. And why Wyatt had to be the one to open the locket? Was it because of how much she loved him or because if Pedyr had to do it, he wouldn’t have? same goes for the bond. Why were those two bonded? What happened to cause it? Why did Pedyr have to sacrifice what he did?
Like I said, just a lot of questions… I like having things tied up, especially if it’s a standalone.
And the ENDING.
THATS WHERE THE PAIN STARTS.
SOOOOO
MUCH
PAINNNNNN 😭😭😭😭😭
I can’t stop crying. Like why. Why did it have to be Pedyr.
So anyways. Yes. I totally recommend this book. You need to read it. Have your heart ripped out like mine was.
A big thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
Haunting and incredibly beautiful, this book was one that I couldn’t put down. The setting was spine tingling and the characters are incredible. Within the first few lines describing Wyatt’s, to say the least, complicated relationship with her father, I related to her immensely. And James and Peter are characters that readers will swoon over; monsters or not. Definitely a must read for anyone wanting to venture into the woods with this trio at their side. Just be careful, after all, it is the mouth of hell.

I AM SO ANGRY.
This can't be the end?!?!? Please tell me it's not the end?!!?
I'm sorry. I'd need a couple more months to recover from this (if I ever will).
I don't know if I'll ever be able to write a more thorough review. My heart is hurting. I am super stressed. I am in denial.
Excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep.
Cruel and beautiful and miserable.
From start to finish, I was hooked. This was worth every moment I spent reading it. The whole book felt like a kiss goodbye. The pacing of the novel is perfect, with a careful balance between suspenseful moments and quieter, introspective scenes. Andrew expertly built tension throughout the entire story.
Everything that was explored was so haunting, the dynamic between our main characters was so cruel and compelling. Their exchanges felt like silence, it was so interesting to read their interactions. The atmosphere was so vividly dreadful and claustrophobic, so deeply immersive.
The plot was a bit muddy, but it almost made the story feel more like a fairytale. If you enjoyed the climate of House of Hollow or For the Wolf, this felt similar.
Great premise with great potential, but I unfortunately did not connect to the prose. The opening chapters felt so info-heavy and outline-like, like I was being told a story rather than reading a story. And the main "hook" of the blurb happened right away in chapter 1; I think this throws our characters together too soon before we really get to know them and leaves the reader unsure what's going to take up the rest of the story.
This is the second book I've read of the author's, so perhaps her writing style simply isn't for me. But I'm also not sure the writing/plot would hold my students' attention through the entire book.
I was a huge fan of Andrew's debut novel, THE WHISPERING DARK, so was excited to read her next work. I'm pleased to report YOUR BLOOD, MY BONES does not disappoint. This book is everything you want from a dark, creepy, supernatural-tinged tale. While there's plenty about this one to make you shutter, there are also deeply emotional moments that were unexpected but lovely, and added another layer to this story. Andrew is on my auto-buy list after this one.
The writing is beautiful, entertaining and fun and the characters so exciting. Having read the author’s debut I couldn’t help but notice how polished author’ writing has had become already. I was hooked on to it the since the very beginning, and found myself being fully absorbing everything about it from page one. It had great characters with great arc and development that had a very engaging and solid plot line.
As always, thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. First off, honestly I love this book and devoured it in 2 days. The author did a good job creating a somber, creepy atmosphere that surrounds the characters.
The story follow Wyatt as she makes her way back to her recently deceased father's farm. When she goes through the house, she finds her former friend chained up in the basement and he intends to kill her in revenge. The events that follow unravel decades of secrets and sinister practices. With a blood moon quickly approaching, evil things come lurking near the farm looking for a sacrifice. Wyatt, her former friends, and Mama the goat - oh, and the chickens - must find a way to survive.
The plot was well paced and the setting was perfectly creepy. From the woods, to the old chapel, everything tied in nicely to create the atmosphere where something evil was approaching. Wyatt was an ok FMC, I wouldn't say she was particularly strong or independent. If one of the farm animals decided to eat her, I think I'd be ok with it. Peter and James were far more interesting and I was rooting for them instead. Overall it was a pretty good book. I'd love for there to be a sequel.
