Kelly has the ability to evoke visceral reactions with only her words, and I love it! I felt deep sadness and real fear. And so much more in between. What a wild and dangerous ride this was.

I read this weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. TBH I didn't love Kelly Andrew's debut, but she really grew as a writer and it shows in her sophomore novel. There are still a few places where I was totally lost and thought that things didn't add up, but they weren't as critical to the plot and I was just swept away by the prose and the relationships. I loved Wyatt and Peter! I can't call this a romance for *reasons* but it's the angsty love story of my dreams. Plus truly creepy horror elements make me recommend this in a heartbeat!

This was everything I wanted it to be and more. Chockful of the type of obsessive relationships that thrive in the heat of childhood summers, thrown atop the burning pyre of unexplainable magic. Our main characters are so easy to fall in love with, and watching them stumble and struggle their way out of a situation that none of them had any control over was incredibly rewarding. The prose in this was also amazing, it fit the sweltering oppressive feel of the setting perfectly, and the ending broke my heart.

This was an interesting story. It was very unique from anything else I've ever read. The author does a great job with the flashbacks to the characters childhoods.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing an eARC of Your Blood, My Bones. Keep reading for my honest review.

3.5/5 stars

Your Blood, My Bones is a dark story full of cults, human sacrifices, and all the things that go bump in the dark.

I wanted to love it, part of me DOES love it. I think it has so much potential. It has similar vibes to Starling House, but with a little less "big corporations are killing us all" and more "eldritch horrors will take advantage of your pain".

My biggest issue is the lack of actual magic system in place or any explanation for things. Wyatt is the most powerful witch in hundreds of years? Cool but what does this even entail? An "eldritch horror be-gone" inhaler is a thing? But you know, results may vary. And you can't just tell me there are worse things that will come through this mouth of hell and then never follow through on this.

Did I cry over Pedyr and the fact that his fate was sealed from the beginning of his life? Absolutely. How could I not?

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Scholastic for the eARC in exchange for a review!

This book was utterly fantastic! I could see how it could not be some people's cup of tea but I really liked it. Gothic, dark, vibes with thrills throughout. I loved Kelly Andrew's writing and the pacing was great from start to finish. The anxiety I had while finishing it - I HAD to know what was going to happen.

I thought this book was so VISUAL. I could just see everything happening in my mind. It really enhanced the book for me and heaps of praise unto Kelly Andrew for being able to illicit that in writing.

I walked out of my room and immediately told my boyfriend "it was *amazing*". I think it's absolutely worth the read, pick it up if you even thought about reading it.

I loved this book. Kelly Andrew just writes characters like no one else. Wyatt is so raw and the friendship between her and Peter and James is so nostalgic and twisted and complicated. I ate this story up. The relationships are so twisted and complicated and heart-wrenching. I absolutely loved everything about this dark and complicated friendship story. This book was like if someone turned Taylor Swift's Folklore album into a horror novel and it solidified Kelly Andrew as an auto buy author for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book! From beginning to end this book kept me enthralled. I love learning about Wyatt and Peters's past and the magic that her blood holds. The entire book I was rooting for Peter and Wyatt to survive the horror that is making its way through to the farm from the other side.
Also, I'm sure it said it somewhere but I didn't realize this was a young adult novel until it revealed that Wyatt our main character is 18 almost halfway or a bit further into the book. It was dark and twisty and filled with so much hope and desolation simultaneously and couldn't put it down.

Wyatt's journey to accepting who she is and the power she holds was amazing, and I loved learning all about her and Peters's past together. While it didn't give me the ending I wanted or hoped for, it gave me the ending the story called for. And I would absolutely love more from this world maybe following Wyatt's cousin.

This was a super unique story that gave me all the feels and I will definitely be adding Kelly Andrew to my auto-buy list.

“Dully, she wondered if this was what heartbreak felt like—looking into the eyes of someone she’d spent her whole life memorizing and finding nothing recognizable left over in their depths.”

This is one of the most unique stories I have read in a long time. If you are looking for a mysterious cult magic story with a side of yearning and heartbreak, this one is for you. Kelly Andrew's ability to convey the depth of her character's feelings while also completely setting the scene of intrigue and creepiness drew me right into Wyatt's world.

I was excited to get my hands on this ARC and while it did not disappoint, I believe readers should go into it with the understanding that this book is full for sorrow and is not a happy story and does not have a happy ending.

I have been staring at the wall thinking about the ending at least once a day since finishing. This book has put Kelly Andrew solidly on my Author list. I will be reading her other published works and looking out for any future books!

Thank you to NetGalley and Scholastic for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Your Blood, My Bones is a young adult contemporary dark fantasy about a teenage girl who inherits her father’s land that sits on the edge of two worlds.

When Wyatt’s mother took her from her childhood home five years ago she left behind her two best friends Peter and James. But when she returns to the farmhouse after her father’s death she is horrified to find Peter chained up in the basement. What no one told her was that Peter was an immortal child from another world and it’s only his ritualistic murder over and over for a century by her family that has been holding back the monsters from another dimension. It will be up to Peter and Wyatt to set aside their feelings for each other and devise a way to close the rip between the two worlds.

This is a creative, haunting and romantic novel about first love, sacrifice and the dark things that terrible people do for power. I loved Wyatt, Peter and James and I rooted for them the entire time. The setting and the monsters were appropriately creepy and the writing was atmospheric and beautiful. I enjoyed the pacing which was never dull or slow and kept me turning the pages. I look forward to reading Kelly Andrew’s debut novel which includes some of the side characters from this one.

Overall, this wasn't a bad book. It had an interesting story with some pretty cool things happening on this plot of land. What I didn't care for was the characters. Wyatt was constantly a TSTL character and Peter (I'm spelling it this way for simplicity sake because don't even get me started on his name) was just a useless immortal that didn't seem to fight for anything. Mild spoiler: If I had been murdered time and time again by a group of zealots, I'm pretty sure I'd be rather angry by now. However, I did really like his backstory and the role he has played here for so long. I also don't understand how, if her mother was so worried about her because she was unable to get ahold of her on the phone, why didn't she just go to the farm?! She knew exactly where Wyatt had gone! Guess we know where the stupid gene came from.

For all intents and purposes, Wyatt's father was practically a cult leader. Though in his defense, he sincerely wanted to change how things were done there. It finally came to a point where Wyatt's mother took her away and they left, never seeing him or the farm again. Until news of his death and Wyatt goes back with every intention of just burning the place the ground. But when she discovers her childhood crush bound in tree roots in the basement, she learns that there was a lot more going on there than she ever realized. And a lot more to her as well.

Wyatt quite literally never listens when someone tells her something, so she is constantly making the situation worse and worse. Basically, this otherworldly darkness has been held at bay by Wyatt's family for generations using their blood (and other ingredient) as a catalyst for spells. With her father dead, the wards are failing and darkness is coming thru more and more. Leaving Wyatt as the only one who can fix things. But she's different from everyone else and her magic doesn't work the same. Conflicting emotions when it comes to Peter and his role in everything doesn't help either.

Honestly, I didn't really like how this ended. Really, the last part in general was my least favorite. I'm not saying it was bad, but it just sort of got kind of meh at this point.

This was very well written, well realized characters and a plot that moved right along, at the end of the day it was a little too scary for me, but that's more of a personal qualm. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an older version of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (or other readalike titles).

-Urban fantasy
-Slow-burn romance that leaves you swooning
-Eerie settings
-Thrillers
-Cottagecore

I am thoroughly impressed with this book! I REALLY enjoyed it. Was I devastated at times? Yes, but it was worth it. It’s set on an old farmhouse that is very eerie and mysterious. 👀 AND there’s a creepy forest with a dangerous, ancient threat (I love creepy forests). I’m normally not a fan of urban fantasy, BUT this one definitely won me over! I LOVE the plot, the setting, the creepy vibes, the writing style, and the romance. Also, the pacing of the story is *Chef’s Kiss.* Bottom line, READ THIS BOOK. This is my first Kelly Andrew book, but it will not be my last.

Overall I enjoyed the plot and pacing. I was a little confused at times, but more like I must have missed a detail. Otherwise I liked that this was a stand alone story, the magic was interesting.

Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to review this gorgeous book!

If love dark, lush, gothic stories then this one is for you! The prose and descriptions in this book are absolutely beautiful. I was really excited by the concept of this book and Andrew's did not disappoint. This is one book that delivers what it promises and then some.

The character development was so well done in this book. I enjoyed every step of the journey as I watched them grow.

The world building is lush and dark and gorgeous and I had no problem imagining the world in the story. I also had no problem imaging the horrors, but honestly so worth it.

I would say you could read this anytime you want to dive into a story that will suck you in and keep you locked in until the very end.

Kelly is the queen of atmospheric writing!

This book is the perfect cottage-horror-core with a little bit of heart-wrenching romance and I ate it up. The star of this book to me is the setting and then way it was written. I could just *feel* the house rotting and being reclaimed by the land as the book progressed. I love the dynamic between Peter, Wyatt, and James, and I think having the story focused on a trio made it more interesting than it would have otherwise been if it were just two main characters. It’s a little bit spooky but not too scary for people who aren’t fans of horror. I think the straddles the line of genres really well. I will definitely be reading whatever Kelly writes next!

This is one of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. I honestly had to read this book with a thesaurus open next to me because I had to look up so much of the lush, beautiful prose. I loved Kelly Andrew's debut, The Whispering Dark, so I had extremely high hopes for this follow up and I loved this book even more. Andrew writes beautiful, character driven stories that will completely horrify and disgust you in the best ways.

I don't think it is necessary to speak on the plot of this book other than to say that Wyatt is left her ancestral home and returns to burn it down only to find the boy she loved and left there...and oh yeah, he has to kill her to be free. Intriguing plot summary, no? But what the book really is, is a lush, devastating portrait of power, love and death and what we will do to hold on to those things. The friendship and love that tethers the main characters together in this book is heartbreakingly rendered in this book I had trouble putting down, even when there were copious amounts of descriptions of spiders.

This book isn't for the faint of heart--the lush and gorgeous descriptions and prose of this book are a double edged sword: not only will you get beautiful descriptions of the love these characters have for each other but also the eldritch horror that lives in the woods. I deeply loved this book, horror phobe that I am and Andrew has proven herself once again an absolute menace with a laptop and an active imagination.

Thank you so much to Scholastic and NetGalley for the opportunity to live in this world briefly and for allowing me to read an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Beautiful. Tragic. So worth your time. Your Blood, My Bones is exceptionally atmospheric in the worst and best ways, every moment full of tension, lush forest, and unimaginable, hungry monsters. Although I wish we had more time in the world's mystery and magic, I do see why it is purposefully open-ended, to foster unease within you as the plot unfolds. The romance was sweet but not overly so, its just enough to make you feel for their impending tragedy and wince. These relationships are complicated. People aren't necessarily good but they're doing their best in the circumstances. This is a book without a cookie-cutter storybook ending, and it does not hide this, but you can't help hoping for one anyway. If you're interested in horror, mystery, murderous cults, undead, and unfathomable horrors...I'd highly recommend. Even though I have already read the book through Netgalley, I will be buying it when it releases. The story really spoke to me.

TW: child murder, mild torture, violence, grief, animal death (off page mostly).

Thank you Netgalley & publisher for this e-arc of Your Blood, My Bones by Kelly Andrew.

This is a fantasy novel. 3.5-4+*; one unique aspect is a tragic and grotesque romance and the mix of genres.

Synopsis:
The protagonist Wyatt Westlock returns to her family's farmhouse with the intention of burning it down after her father's death. However, her plans take a drastic turn when she discovers her childhood friend Peter chained in the basement. What she doesn't know is that Peter is immortal and has been ritually sacrificed by generations of Wyatt's family to keep dark forces at bay. Despite their shared history and unspoken love, Peter is bound to kill Wyatt, the last of the Westlocks, to break free from his cycle of death and rebirth.
As Wyatt and Peter navigate their complicated relationship, they must also confront the encroaching darkness that threatens to consume them and the farm. With vivid descriptions and a palpable sense of foreboding, Andrew weaves a tale of forbidden love, ancient curses, and the lengths people will go to protect those they care about. As Wyatt delves into her family's dark secrets and grapples with her own burgeoning powers, she and Peter must confront their intertwined fates and decide whether they can defy destiny and forge their own path.
"Your Blood, My Bones" is a blend of romance, supernatural horror, and mystery that will captivate fans of dark fantasy. With its richly drawn characters and atmospheric setting, it is a story of love and sacrifice that lingers in the mind after the final page.

Things I liked:
• Rich Character Development
• Atmospheric Setting
• Compelling Genre Fusion

Things I disliked (if you can call it that):
• Evocative Writing; Sparse Explanations at times
• Unpredictable Ending
• Character-Centric Focus

Super atmospheric and creepy. The Midwest, middle of nowhere setting created such an isolating feeling. Mixed with the bittersweet nostalgia of a childhood friendship gone awry. Another tension filled horror with such unique plot and characters. So happy to have gotten the chance to read this early.
