Ziggy is the youngest of the Bergman clan and is sick of being underestimated. She’s also the youngest player on the National Soccer Team. She’s ready for her angelic image to get a makeover so for some help she turns to her brother Ren’s best friend, the bad boy of the hocky team, Sebastian.
Neither of them expected to develop feelings for each other, but now that they have, it seems silly not to act on them…
Chloe Liese has quickly become one of my favorite authors. She is amazing and handles disability rep amazingly. In each of her books we get different disabilities. This book had autism and celiac disease. I didn’t know that going into it, but when she was talking about how Seb was diagnosed with Celiac, and how he worries at every function about having gluten free options, I legit cried. Every time the word pizza party or birthday party is mentioned I cry a little for my daughter because while she isn’t Celiac, she is allergic to wheat. Not the same, but similar treatments and we eat mostly gluten freeZiggy was also an amazing character and so multi-faceted. I have loved this series so much, and while I read it all out of order, it is one I plan on finishing because it is just that good. I really enjoyed how the characters are flawed but together they worked through them, and while yes it was obvious, they would fall in love, the journey was amazing. While I don’t always appreciate a slow burn romance, in this case it worked for me. I would have enjoyed it less had it happened sooner, which is saying a lot.
Thank you to the publisher Berkley Publishing, @berkleypub, and Netgalley @netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a cute little romance with a hero and heroine you can really get behind. I found the overabundance of people with chronic illnesses and irrelevant, but for some reason declared, sexualities a bit much. It made parts of the story feel forced. That said, I applaud the author's attempts at inclusion.
The last part of the book is pretty spicy, I quit reading at about 90% since I don't prefer that. I do still feel like I got a complete story.
The way Chloe Liese is able to peer into my brain and pour that onto the page is inhumane but also needs to be studied because that level of talent is absolutely insane. Ziggy’s road go to self assurance and maturity and independence I found myself on last year when this was originally published and it provided me with so much comfort to know that maybe I too will find confidence in my own autism.
Sebastian is such a hunk I can’t even explain it. His ability to communicate and learn and grow while maintaining his bad boy charm really did a number on me.
Hoo boy this book is perhaps my favourite of the Bergmans but we still have one to go Ugh I am so excited!!!
Such a good slow burn romance with adults dealing with adult things. I enjoyed the sports but it wasn't in your face. It had enough predictability to feel like a romance, but not so much that you knew every beat that was coming.
Well this was unsurprisingly excellent. There was never any doubt that I would love this story but I don't know that I was ready to get SO emotionally attached. I've read all the Bergman books and I've already attached to this family, but there's something about Ziggy that tugs at me a little more and I really loved the way that we finally get to see her come full circle. Having own voices autistic representation is so important and I love the way that Chloe Liese has been able to write multiple autistic characters and all of them are different and that's such an important part of representation is realizing that autism exists on a spectrum. Ziggy's autism is different than Axel's and it's different than Frankie's and it was phenomenal.
So basically we have Ziggy who is trying to get out of this role and expectations that her family has set for her as fragile and someone who needs coddling and then we have Seb who is bad boy extraordinaire and needs to clean up his act.
I love a grumpy sunshine book but I'm always skeptical when grumpy equals mean. Seb is listed as a bad boy and someone who causes harm to others and acts recklessly and I was a little skeptical. I really hate books where they have an asshole character who is nice just to his love interest but that is NOT the case here and I really should have been more trusting of Chloe. She would not do us wrong. Seb is not an asshole, he is traumatized and has reasons for his behavior. His reasons are not very good but he isn't a bad person. He is willing to own up to his behavior, apologize, works to actively do better, and has a lot of self-loathing to work through.
So basically Ziggy and Seb team up to help each of their reputations. Ziggy wants to add a few dark spots to hers and Seb needs to clean his up. What neither one of them was really expecting was for such an intense friendship to build. Their first few encounters are some of my favorite scenes. I love watching their friendship develop and seeing each of them open up to the other and form a super important relationship.
We love emotionally mature characters and this book has them. We have characters who are not afraid to feel their feelings and to admit when they were wrong. We have characters who allow themselves to make mistakes and do better. We have characters who are anxious and scared and not afraid to admit that. We have characters that know that they aren't perfect yet work towards progress instead of perfection.
This book is a work of art and I loved it so much. This is one of the first books in this series that I would say you could read as a standalone. I think a lot of the other books have much more involvement from the family members, and while the Bergman crew is still involved, it isn't as overwhelming as it is in some of the other stories. This book really truly is about Ziggy and Sebastian and each of their journeys of growth. Do I recommend that you read the entire series? Abso-freaking-lutely. Could you read this as a standalone? Yes if you must.
Both MC's are queer and disabled. Ziggy is bisexual and autistic and Sebastian is pansexual and has celiac. I am living for all of the neurodivergent queer representation 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I am intensely intrigued for Viggo's story. I have loved him since the beginning of his chaos gremlin days and now his romance novel obsessed chaos gremlin persona and I am so excited for his HEA.
I have devoured all of this series so far and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend it. Go read all of them! This one did not disappoint.
If Only You was one of my favorite books in the Bergman family series so far. Ziggy and Seb were a great couple and I loved their story.
4.5 ⭐️ I LOVE THIS SERIES and couldn’t recommend it more. Chloe Liese always knows how to handle difficult topics with such grace and in a way that really makes your understand and connect, and I give her praise for writing fabulous inclusive and diverse stories. If Only You is book 6 and Ziggy’s story. It had a lot of parallels to my favorite of the bunch, Always Only You, as both FMCs are on the Autism spectrum while the MMCs are professional hockey players/ teammates.
While Ziggy and Sebastian’s relationship starts off as a fake friendship, I loved watching them slowly become real friends and ultimately recognize they want more. There were so many swoony, tender and honest moments that made me fall for these characters.
The Bergmans are by far my favorite book family, and as always, I loved how we got to see so much of all of them in this story and hear all the life updates! Now I’m sad there’s only one more brother left.
What to expect:
-Professional athletes
-Brother’s teammate
-Opposites attract
-Neurodiverse + Celiac rep
-Slow burn romance
"we deserve the chance to be seen for who we are in our present, not for who we've been in our past"
If Only You is the sixth (!!) book in the Bergman Siblings series and like fine wine and a good cheese, the Bergmans get better with age. Ziggy is someone that from day one (okay book two) I knew that I would relate to on a whole other level. Ziggy is someone who's always faded into the background but now she's trying to redefine her role in her family. Sebastian is on a downward spiral unsure of how to change the public perspective of him. Together they help each other discover and embrace their authentic selves.
If Only You features:
- fake friends to real friends to lovers
-brother's best friend
-sports romance
-Bi FMC & Pan MMC
- bad boy & good girl
- autism & celiac disease rep
- a burn so slow the pages catch on fire
I devoured this book. If Only You is lyrical, whimsical, genuine, vulnerable, and hopeful. I loved watching Ziggy and Sebastian love themselves and each other. Their openness and willingness to get messy - to be themselves even when it was scary, was inspiring. Their journey to self-love paved the path for them to fall in love and you don't want to miss it.
With every new book of hers that I read, Chloe changes the perspective I have of myself in the best way. I read this after spending a day wishing that I was less emotional, less me, and it quickly changed into me remembering that I'm loved and special because of who I am, not in spite of it. Chloe did that by weaving Ziggy and Sebastian together. I saw bits of myself in both of them.
CW: abuse by a step-parent (past), family tensions, parental abandonment (past), self-medicating with alcohol
i’ll never stop loving the bergmans and wanting to be part of their family!!! ziggy’s story was the stuff of dreams, i mean, the brother’s best friend? a hockey player?? A BAD BOY?!? with celiac?! SIGN ME THE HECK UP. i love ziggy and also want to BE ziggy to get my hands on seb, my GOSH.
phew, i loved it.
10/10. no notes. nobody does representation in books like @chloe_liese. biggest fan forever.
Chloe Liese scores again with her newest release, If Only You, which is a 5 out of 5 stars phenomenal brother’s best friend sports romance novel. This is #6 in the Bergmans series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. However, once you meet one Bergman, you will want to meet them all! Chloe Liese continues to deliver incredible love stories with fantastic disability representation while also giving you the best kinds of feels.
This book. This book!!! I don’t think I have enough words to properly explain how much I love this book. These characters & their story completely captivated me. This book revolves around the youngest sister & professional soccer player, Ziggy as well as Sebastian, who is her brother’s best friend & a professional hockey player. They are both looking to revamp their public images & decide to use each other’s company to hopefully achieve said goals. The events that follows include family dinners, angry yoga, books, games & so many adventures.
It was such a delicious slow burn of a story with the tension & chemistry between these two constantly simmering & moments of their sparking attraction close to boiling over. My heart was fully immersed into this story. I adored both of the leads.
As someone with chronic stomach issues, I was excited to see that represented & the agony that it creates depicted. I am also neurodivergent, so I am always grateful for more representation there with Ziggy being autistic. It was heartwarming & joyous watching both of these characters grow into their best selves after going through such difficult times.
Sebastian as a hero was just incredibly swoon-worthy. I have one word, bookstore! This is the type of story that makes you just giddy to read it & I honestly didn’t want it to end. The love I have for this fantastic fictional family of the Bergmans is unreal. I am not ready for this series to end, but thankfully I cannot wait to read the next one.
I highly recommend this book & the entire Bergman series to anyone in the mood for wonderful romances with the best kind of family & filled with so much heart, humor, heat & amazing disability representation!
The author also makes playlists for their books that you can listen as you read if you are wanting & able. They are an excellent & eclectic group of songs I always enjoy & find new songs to add to own playlists, which is rad.
The new Berkley edition of this book comes with a BONUS epilogue that is all the sprinkles, whipped cream & cherry on top of a perfect sundae of a novel. I so appreciated the fact that this wasn’t a one or two page add-on. I am grateful for any & all extra scenes of the Bergmans. This epilogue delivered such a beautiful & sexy peek of an update on their lives. Now I am counting down the days until Viggo’s story!
It’s an honor that I’ve received an arc of this, which I don’t take lightly. I am just continuously so thankful for this opportunity as well as so grateful for Chloe Liese for her continued representation of the disabled community. It’s a joy to read & witness & gives me so much hope. Thank you times a million.
Massive thanks to the author, NetGalley & Berkley Publishing for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.
Content Warnings: This is an open door romance with consensual sexual intimacy. There is also a character on the autism spectrum as well as a character with celiac disease. It includes the topics of self-medicating with alcohol & substances as well as past with a verbally abusive step-parent & abandonment of a parent. This was included at the beginning of the story, which I always think is super neat.
I will post to my social media & Amazon around release day & add links once I do.
So far out of all of the Bergman siblings I relate to Ziggy the most. And OMG I loveeeed this book!
This series never ceases to bring a smile to my face!
Ziggy I love you so much! I could related to so many different parts of Ziggy.
I loved her kindness, her heart, and how she learned how to express herself. Tough Ziggy is absolutely amazing!!! Everything she went through was so inspiring!
And OMG Sebastian!! His growth was great!! I love how he found a home within the Bergman family and how hard he fell for Ziggy. He took her on a bookstore date, dressed up as one of her favorite book characters, and learned how to swing dance for her!!! SWOON!
The bonus epilogue was EVERYTHING! Truly soo damn cute and filled with even more growth and love with Seb and Ziggy! oh, and of course a good dose of extra spicy time as well!! ;)
I really had the best time reading this story!
From one of my favorite romance series ever, I was so thrilled to see it here with a new cover. Read it read it read it, every single thing I've read by this author is beautifully written with very human characters and believable plots while still hitting all the good notes.
As the baby of her large family, Ziggy is tired of being treated with kid gloves. After an unexpected run-in with hockey bad boy Sebastian, she decides a fake friendship will help both their images. Chloe Liese once again writes a story with strong emotional development and representation of both characters on the autism spectrum and with chronic illness. Pick up if you enjoy good girl/bad boy pairings, super slow burn sports romance, or hockey players with hidden hearts of gold. This is the sixth in a series of novels about a Swedish-American family of seven siblings. Newcomers will appreciate the appearances by the other siblings if they start with the first book.
These two ♥️ Ziggy and Seb slowly finding their way to their love was so good. I loved reading their story unfold through friendship. The respect they have for one another’s time was so nice to see.
The steam!!! Thank you for that bonus epilogue. We needed that. The initial kiss was fire! Slow burn but so worth it!
Chloe Liese has my bookish heart. The Bergman Brothers series is full of five star romances, but Ziggy's story quickly became my favorite.
So many wonderful tropes-- where do I start? You've got best friend's little sister, friends-to-lovers, a *smidge* of enemies-to-lovers, etc. etc.
Sebastian's whole journey of self-redemption was beautifully written, as was Ziggy's transformation into the confident, independent woman she always knew she was.
I loved this book. I LOVED THIS BOOK!
I love Chloe Liese’s books and this one was no different. The characters are always great and I love that they feature the entire family so you can still hear about other characters even after their books are done.
Chloe Liese brings me so much joy, and this book just added to it. It was nice to watch Ziggy grow up throughout the books to come into her own, and to stand up for herself. In true Bergman fashion she new what she wanted, and did not give up even when it got awkward or uncomfortable or hard.
I absolutely loved how Chloe Liese build their characters. They were relatable in ways I wasn't expecting. I so loved and enjoyed reading it!
Chloe Liese is becoming one of my favorite authors.
I will devour each and every book she writes.
They are all immediately five stars because shes just that amazing.
Ziggy and Sebastian are probably my favorite.
