I have read and enjoyed many Kerry Wilkinson books and this was no exception. Plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engrossed. I liked the idea of the story being told from past and present and the ending was a bit strange but hopefully left open for the next plot to get some answers. I highly recommend this book and author.

Leah and her three friends are having a sleepover - when Leah awakes in the morning her three friends have disappeared never to be seen again.
In the present day Leah is now a mother to Zac and is still plagued with haunting questions about what happened to her friends.
Owen is one of the missing girls brother and he is making a podcast about events, Owen thinks Leah is holding back and knows more than she is letting on. Leah agrees to talk to him on his podcast but then receives a waring via a text from a 'friend' advising her not to take part in the podcast. Who is this 'friend' - and what if anything does it have to do with disappearance.
With plenty of twists this is a great thrilling read - the story is well-paced and absorbing.

Leah and her three best friends get changed into their pyjamas, eat pizza and argue about what film to watch. They laugh together until the early hours. But the next morning, Leah blinks open her eyes and sees three empty sleeping bags. The other girls are gone.

Well-done, great twists and turns, I enjoyed this a lot.

Thank you to Bookouture & NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

The final two chapters of this story…. Wow! I did not see the twist coming at all, it was genuinely shocking. And now I found out there will be a sequel to this book, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Leah’s life has never been the same since she went to a sleepover at her friend’s house in high school. All four girls Leah, Jazz, Vicky, and Harriet fell asleep after eating dinner, watching Titanic, and drinking a little Vodka. But in the morning when Leah woke up, it was just her, the three other girls had disappeared into thin air.

The mystery was never solved, and now 25 years later Jazz’ brother Owen has come to town to film a documentary. Leah agrees to speak with him, but shortly before she does she begins getting strange emails. Someone is trying to make Leah convince Owen to stop the documentary. And it almost seems like this person is trying to blackmail Leah.

As time is running out to stop the documentary Leah is thrown head first back into trying to solve the mystery of what happened to her three friends, all those years ago.

The conclusion to this story was truly insane, and if you’re looking for a quick and fast paced thriller, this is the one!!

What I enjoyed:
-dual timelines of the sleepover 25 years ago, and current time to the documentary being filmed
-quick chapters
-a genuinely crazy twist at the end of the story
-a cliffhanger question that will lead perfectly into the sequel

The premise with this book was promising. However the layout wasn't that good. It was really a slooowburn thriller. It took some time before anything happened... And the ending dissapointed me a lot... I felt like what "was that the ending"? Unfortunately, not a thriller for me

Thanks to Bookouture and netgalley for this arc. When 3 of leahs friends disappeared on a sleepover that she was at, leah wonders why? Where are they? And why wasnt she taken? Or does she know more to it than she is letting on? Leah lives with her son zac, she is divorced. Owen is making a documentary on his sister as she was one of the girls that went missing, he also thinks leah knows what really happened that night. Leah starts to receive strange e mails only signed with ' A FRIEND' how do they know about the knife leah had and the missing ring????
This is a great read, lots of twists, had me hooked from the first page and kept me guessing until the end. Highley recommend

I would first like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture, and Kerry Wilkinson for allowing me access to an advanced copy of The Night of the Sleepover in exchange for my honest review.

If you’re looking for a book that will keep you guessing until the end, this is a great pick. The writing reminded me of Freida McFadden’s writing, and was similar in that this book was so quick to read, and the end of each chapter left you wanting more. You’ll be saying “okay just one more chapter” until you reach the end.

I did enjoy this book, however I am giving it a 3 star rating simply because it felt like 40-50% of the book was unnecessary information that could have been removed. There is a sequel to this book that will be released in the future, so having some of the information I found unnecessary may be important to a sequel, but I just didn’t find it necessary.

I love a good thriller where you think you know the ending and then it shocks you with multiple twists when you think there’s none left! The Night of the Sleepover definitely did that for me!

First off, the two timelines of the past and the present were awesome. The past being set in 1999 made it feel like something I could relate to being a 90s kid myself. The present literally being the year we’re in.
The short chapters and the way this book was so easy to read made me finish it in two days. Also the fact that I was hooked from the very beginning. I was sold on it just from the description to be honest!
Knowing there is going to be a sequel has me anxious for it to come out!

If you’re in a reading slump and need something that grips you from the first chapter, this is your book!
4.5⭐️ out of 5!

Twenty years ago, Leah attended a sleepover with three of her closest friends. It is a night she will never forget, but not for the reasons that one would expect. When morning comes, Leah is the only one of the four left, her friends mysteriously vanishing into the night, and never to be seen again. For years, Leah has dealt with the whispers and speculations in the small town where she grew up. How could she have slept through an event that, for some reason, has left her as the sole survivor?

Now, a documentary is being made about the night Leah’s best friends disappeared. Is the truth about to come out?

I wasn’t quite a teenager in 1994 but I remember going to sleepovers so this really took me back! The story was actually written very well, and gave you just enough to not want to put the book down. The plot and the characters are written well and believable. I thought I might have had it figured out, but then so many good twists kept me guessing until the shocking end.

Even tho I was ok with the ending I am excited that there is a sequel to this book.

Four girls go to sleep at a sleepover... The next morning, only one wakes up... Where are the other three girls? Twenty years later, the mystery still hasn't been solved. As a documentary is about to be made, the night is brought aback to Leah and she knows people still wonder how she slept through the night while her friends vanished. When she starts to get anonymous emails, she wonders who knew about the events of the night... Is she in danger? A brilliant mystery that keeps you guessing. Full of shocks and twists. Loved it!

The book begins with Leah waking up after a sleepover at her friends house - with vodka, pizza and 3 empty sleeping bags where her friends had been. Vicky, Jazz and Harriet disappeared in 1999 and ever since Leah has been left to try and figure out how and why. I liked that the time when they were teenagers were the same time I would have been as well so there were a lot of references that resonated with me.
Jazz's brother is directing a documentary being filmed for the 25 year anniversary of when they went missing. This is a quick easy read and I did want to carry on reading to find out what happened, however there was no big twist and there was some characters and references that weren't tied up or confused me such as the step mum character seemed to be maybe part of the storyline but then nothing happened there. Rounded down but 3.5 stars

I just finished reading The Night of the Sleepover by Kerry Wilkinson. #TheNightoftheSleepover #NetGalley

The story follows Leah who woke up after a sleepover with her 3 other friends. She wakes up but she is the only one there. For over 20 years, its a mystery of what happened to her friends. The author tells the story in the present and the past. In the end we find out what really happens. The ending was bit unbelievable. However it does say there will be a second book so this may fill some plot holes I found. I don't normal read book series but I will look out for Book 2 and it answers my questions.

Wow what a thriller, I did not see the ending coming at all. Lots of plot twists which I love

We follow Leah after 24 years after waking up after a sleepover to find her friends are missing. Owen the brother of one of the friends is making a 25 year anniversary documentary to see if he can unearth any answers to the mystery all these years later.

Leah is helping but keeps getting strange emails asking her to stop the documentary being made, what do they no? Interspersed with flashbacks to the time of the sleepover an absolutely gripping plot unfurls full of tension as Leah tries to figure out who is watching her

Please be warned there is a lot of reference to domestic abuse and how it affects children which may be triggering for some

OMG!! This book was amazing! I was enjoying it throughout the whole thing but the ending had me shocked!! There were plenty of twists and turns the whole time and pointing fingers to so many people who could’ve done it, I hadn’t had any idea how it would end and then when I thought I had gotten to the reveal, there was another shocker! This book was so good and the ending made it amazing!! Highly recommended!

I didn't particularly like the characters involved at all but the mystery still kept me going.

The reveal was pretty shocking but the twist in the reveal - whoaa I didn't see it coming! Therefore it ended quite well and I was happy with that.

Not sure why it's called "sleepover 1" - don't know how it should become a series but let's see.

Thank you Netgalley!

I recently had the opportunity to dive into "The Night of the Sleepover" thanks to an advanced copy provided by Netgalley. The novel immediately caught my attention with its intriguing premise, especially the use of dual timelines, which I've always found fascinating.

The past and present timelines in the book were, undoubtedly, a major highlight for me. It's a storytelling technique I truly enjoy, as it adds depth and complexity to the narrative, allowing readers to uncover secrets and connections between the two eras. This aspect of the book was wonderfully executed.

However, I must admit that despite my initial excitement, I couldn't quite capture that elusive "can't put it down" feeling throughout my reading experience. It felt like the story took its time to build momentum, and it wasn't until I reached the 75% mark that things truly started to get intriguing.

It's only in the latter portion of the book that the plot takes a dramatic turn and delivers a significant twist. While I appreciated the unexpected revelation, I couldn't help but wish for a bit more excitement and engagement in the earlier parts of the story.

In conclusion, "The Night of the Sleepover" is a novel with a promising concept, rich with potential. The dual timelines and the final twist are its strengths, but I wished for a more consistently engaging experience. Nevertheless, I'm grateful to Netgalley for granting me the opportunity to explore this book.

This book takes the reader through what happened the night of a sleepover with Leah and her 3 friends, 25 years prior. The book jumps back and forth from present day, and then night of the sleepover.

If you don’t want part of the book to be ruined don’t read any further. Spoiler alert!

When Esther told Leah what “really happened” the night of the sleepover, I found it strange that Esther didn’t try to do something to Leah once she learned the “truth” I thought Esther was going to try to kill Leah. I didn’t understand how she could just tell Leah that big secret and expect her to keep it.

I did like the twist at the end, when we found out what really TRUELY happened, but then felt it ended abruptly after that.

Overall a 3 start read for me
