⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks a mil Netgalley and the Author Sue Watson for the chance to read this one prior to its publication date in exchange for my honest review.
Angela Wilson invites her whole family to celebrate her 75th birthday in a stunning Lodge off the coast of Cornwall - She invites her Ex Daughter-In-Law Fiona, her two Grandchildren, her son Scott and his new wife Danni and their new baby daughter Olivia.
Angela is hoping they will all get along and have a wonderful time. She hires a gourmet chef to come stay at the lodge with them to do all of the cooking so all her guests can enjoy themselves.
All sounds like it would be perfect....
Or does it....????
I liked the sound of the plot for this one and while it started out strong, I think it lost it's belivability as the story went on.
I didnt really take to any of the characters and was never fully invested in their stories.
That being said, there was plenty of deception and twists throughout.
I did enjoy it but it just lacked something for me - I think I've read a few too many psychological thrillers recently and maybe need to change genre for a while as they are just not hitting the spot.
Overall, this was a bit of a slow burn thriller for me but still one I flew through quick enough.
A dysfuntional family winter thriller.
Looking forward to seeing what Sue Watson comes up with next.
A solid 3 star rating from me this time

Loved this book , have read lots of other books by this author and they are all so good. Great characters and great stories. An insight into a completely different world. So well written. This is a must read thriller.

The lodge by Sue Watson is a great thriller. It did start of little slow but the character development and story was worth it. I would recommend this one anyone looking for fast read. 4 out of 5 stars

This one was a ride! There is something so terrifying about books set somewhere snowed in—and I can’t get enough of them.
The Lodge had a great plot, a cast that all had reasons, and a satisfying end.
I’ve been looking for a new thriller author to get lost in as I like to consume everything when I find one I like, Sue Watson feels like a good one to dive into.

A great book from start to finish
Will have you hooked from the first page to the last
A great storyline
Thanks NetGalley

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair an honest review. Another great page turner from Sue Watson, this one is filled with deep, dark secrets that I couldnt get enough of. It follows the Wilson family who get summoned to a remote lodge for a family getaway by the family matriarch, Angela. Angela wants to be surrounded by all of her family for her 75th birthday. Angela's son Scott, and both his ex wife and his current wife are invited along too with his new baby and Scott and Fiona's teenagers from their marriage. The Chef for their stay is a young woman by the name of Jenna and it seems from the food she is preparing that she may not be the professional chef she has claimed to be and that she may be at the lodge for other reasons. One of my favourite tropes is an isolated thriller and when a storm hits cutting everyone else off from The Lodge tensions start bubbling away as secrets start unravelling and the storm continues to rage outside. A captivating, atmospheric read that will see you through a blustery stormy weekend in the best of ways. #bookouture #netgalley #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #getlitsy #thestorygraph #bookqueen #bookstagram #suewatson #thriller

The Lodge by Sue Watson was a fun, suspenseful read that kept me on my toes. Right from the beginning, the story pulled me in, and I couldn’t predict where it was going. The ending especially caught me off guard—it’s rare that a thriller manages to stay one step ahead of me, so that was a big plus.
The characters were what really made this one interesting. Each of them had a complicated side, and I kept switching between liking them and doubting them. Just when I’d start feeling sorry for one of them, a new twist would make me question their intentions all over again. It felt like I was right alongside them in that snowed-in lodge, constantly reevaluating who could be trusted.
As for the setting, I know the whole “isolated, snowy lodge” theme is pretty popular in thrillers, but this one didn’t feel tired or predictable. Watson managed to give it a fresh twist, making the setting feel intense and claustrophobic without leaning too hard on typical lodge-in-the-woods vibes.
Overall, The Lodge is a solid pick if you’re after a mystery that keeps you guessing, with complex characters and a setting that adds to the suspense. Definitely worth the read!

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

A dysfunctional family travels to a winter holiday arranged by the family matriarch who deems the gathering as her last birthday. They are snowed in and remain at the lodge until roads are cleared. A dead man is discovered near their lodge. The death brings the police. The story is told from multiple points of view as each character bares their hearts (almost) and feeds on their hate and prejudices toward each other. Each one has a theory about who killed the dead man and each one could be the killer. The power of the story is the mental workings of the characters. Read the book to its surprising ending. You won't be disappointed.
I received a copy of #TheLodge# from #NetGalley# and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.. Thank you, #NetGalley# and #Bookouture#

What a jaw dropping read!!! Had me on the edge of my seat, so many twists & turns it had me guessing all the way through!!!

Holy heck! My head is still spinning. This book has so many twists and turns. Excellent writing and storyline. At times, I had issues with keeping the characters straight...but that didn't take anything away from the rollercoaster ride that this book is.
Thanks to netgalley, Bookouture and the author for the advanced copy.

When a family, complete with ex wife, new wife and baby, grandmother and previous family children all arrive at the Lodge to celebrate Angela's birthday. She hints it might be her last and dementia is closing in fast. With a major storm and a murder it follows a tried but true plot with everyone a suspect. I enjoyed the read and the characters. The final chapter is a stunner. Enjoy.

First of all I loved the title and cover for this book. So having read most of the author’s books I kind of knew what to expect. But wowsers I wasn’t expecting that. This book is so darn good I loved everything about it. I was totally hooked from start to end and listened to the audio in one day.
The narrator is awesome and really brings this story to life. I literally didn’t know who to trust. I mean you have an ex wife, the new wife, the mother in law and Scott trapped in a lodge. What could possibly go wrong?!
I loved that this story was set in the snow at Cornwall instead of the sunshine. Making the story more dramatic.
I also love how the story is told, alternating between Danni and Fiona. Building the story up layer by layer which keeps you on the edge of your seat.
This is a story full of twists and turns and suspense. I couldn’t listen to it fast enough. The Lodge is my new number one favourite by Sue Watson. She has really excelled herself with this cracking read. It is without a doubt a five star read.

This was quiet the adventure and a lot of dysfunctional family drama with some twists and turns along the way. This one wasn't really for me because of all the people involved. It also was a very slow burn which at times for a thriller will make me loose interest.

A dysfunctional family in lockdown. The elderly mother, her son and his wife and baby, his ex and their children and the strange Jenna.
A murderous hit and run, followed by so many lies and secrets. Then someone goes missing to be found dead. The police hindered by the amount of snow to even get to the lodge.
Meanwhile my head was spinning by all the secrets, who did both crimes and why. Also what has young Jenna got over the family, weaseling her way into their lives.
The ending wow what a moral dilemma.
Great mystery thriller, I really enjoyed it.

Oh this was a fantastic read! I love a good winter setting. It made me feel like I was in the actual snow while reading it. The twist was great!

Another fantastic book by Sue Watson.
A great mystery full of twists and turns with a cast of great characters. Read it in a few days, didn’t want to put it down.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This book was SO fun in my opinion. I knew I absolutely had to read it based on the description. It did not disappoint. Such a wild ride.

I love a book that is set in a lodge/cabin in the snow. Full of drama and told by multiple POV. Loved the characters . I honestly couldnt put this book down.

Sue Watson can sure write characters I love to hate! She has done it again in The Lodge. I don't think there was a single character in this book that I liked, but the family drama was like a car crash you just can't look away from.
The matriarch of the Wilson family calls everyone together for her birthday - and I mean everybody. Her son and his first wife and their children - and her son's SECOND wife with their child in tow as well. Obviously drama unfolds - how can it not? But then a body turns up and no one is allowed to leave.
Will they all kill each other before they get out of here?
I loved all the cold weather vibes of this story and the lodge setting. And of course loved all the drama - addictive fun read.
