While I didn’t need a third book in this series, I loved diving back into this world. The story was amazing and I definitely caught that bit of open ending for someone else’s story to be told in a potential fourth book
This is a fun read. I love this whole series. Pirates, sirens, mermaids. Give me all the fantasy love. I wish this was around when I was a young girl. Women can be tough and soft.
Tricia Levenseller can do no wrong in my opinion, and it continues to apply with this book. This was such a wonderful extension of the Pirate King world, and I absolutely loved getting to return to it. It’s action packed, full of heart and adventure, and a simply fun, wonderful read.
When I requested VENGEANCE OF THE PIRATE QUEEN, I didn't realize that it was the third book in the series. When I finally read all three books, I realized that the first two were more of a duology, and this book was more of a standalone, with some of the characters making a brief appearance.
This was an entertaining book. It is the kind of fantasy book, especially for a standalone, that I enjoy. It was creative and fun! I like Tricia Levenseller's voice as an author. Plus, I haven't read many books about pirates, so that was a new experience for me! I'll definitely look for more books from the author!
I enjoyed the narration as well. It was more fun than reading the other two books!
I have enjoyed this entire series, but this one is definitely my least favorite. I was red the biggest fan of the narrator, she sounded like the whole book was spoken as an out of body experience, and I could get as invested in this book as I have with the others.
I had such a great time reading this book! I've really enjoyed her books, but I didn't think about picking up this series until I had the chance to read this book, but I'm glad I did, because I enjoyed the whole series, they were all so good!
Sorinda is an assassin, who we didn't really know much about in the first two books, so I'm glad that we got this time to get to know her and follow along on this adventure! And boy, was it an adventure! From a rescue mission to a a survival mission, to dealing with the bad guy, yeah, there was a lot and I loved it!
I felt so badly for Sorinda, the weight that she carries, of the guilt from her past, that was a heavy burden. That she keeps everyone at arms' length, I understand, but I'm glad that with Kearan's help, she started to move on and move forward.
There aren't really sirens in this book besides Alosa, but the impact on this story, loved it, with the whole King of the Undersea. Loved watching them work to overcome him, especially with what he did to her. It was so entertaining to watch how they won the day!
This was a fantastic read and I can't wait to read more by Tricia Levenseller! And if we get more books following other characters in this series, I would absolutely read them!
This book was just okay. I wish it was more exciting like the original two books in the series as I really enjoyed those. I needed to have more sympathy for the FMC as she was quite cold throughout and felt the explanation came a bit too late. Unfortunately the romance fell a bit flat for me too. It kept my attention enough at the end to add another star but I felt it was also a little too late. At this point, the author is a bit hit or miss for me. Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an audio arc of this book!
Thank you Netgalley for the Audiobook Arc in exchange of a review.
I started listening this one but didn't hold my interest. I thought the concept was good but I wish I could have connected with the characters and plot more.
Vengeance of the Pirate Queen by Tricia Levenseller was a great book. This is one of my favorite series. I love sassynheroin's that can back up their talk and this series delivers.
I did not realize this was the third book in a series, until I read some of the other reviews. This book is perfectly enjoyable as a standalone. I loved Sorinda, an assassin, who is sent on a rescue mission which goes deeply awry and they very nearly do not make it out alive. Great world-building, fun, fast-paced action, and good characters. Highly recommend. The only small issue for me was the believability of the age of all the characters, but it will go over well with the target audience.
Great audio narration.
Pirates, action, adventure, and king of the sea? Sounds good to me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This series is so much fun and I’m so glad that it continued to book three. I love the excitement of Levenseller’s writing and the fact that it’s “closed door”. Daughter of the Pirate King will always be my favourite in this series but this one may be my second favourite. The main characters are top tier and I love their respective morals. Macmillan audio, as always, has great production and match excellent narrators to the story.
Author: Tricia Levenseller
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Audio: Macmillan Audio
🔔Content notes: heavy violence(swords, guns, fantasy violence), death, mild language throughout (d****, he**, sh**) passionate kissing described, closed door
Thanks so much to NetGalley, the author, and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook ARC of this great story.
I LOVE that Levenseller has finally given readers a Sorinda and Kearan focused story in this world! Sorinda's backstory is absolutely heartbreaking and explains a lot about who she is in present day. I really appreciated the dynamic between Sorinda and Kearan, it felt very realistic given the trauma that both of them carry.
I thought the mystery Sorinda and crew were sent to solve was interesting, though I wish we had been given more of what happens next at the end, it felt like it wrapped up too quickly. Hopefully we'll get a 4th book in this series!
Krissi Bohn does a good job with the audiobook narration.

I love this book so much. This series has inspired me to travel down a pirate rabbit hole. I will absolutely be purchasing a physical copy to go on my book shelf with the sprayed edge editions of the first two books. I will say that it did take me a bit longer to connect with Sorinda's character than Alosa's in the first book but I was able to get past that. I absolutely loved getting to see more of Kearan! He was one side character I was always interested in. Unfortunately, I did feel like the main conflict wrapped up much to quick and felt a bit anticlimactic...
Vengeance of the Pirate Queen follows Sorinda, an 18-year-old assassin in the service of the pirate queen, is tasked with leading a crew on a rescue mission instead of her usual assignments. Despite her annoyance with her talented 20-year-old helmsman, Kearan, and the lack of privacy on the ship, the mission takes a dangerous turn when they awaken the King of the Undersea, leading to a fight for both her survival and the fate of the world.
I really enjoyed this audiobook and story as a whole. I'm a huge fan of the Daughter of the Pirate Queen series so I was very excited to read this one. I loved learning more about Sorinda as a character and her story, especially with her romance with Kearan. I loved how the book delved into both of their backstories and taught you more about the characters.
Despite the Netgalley app having some difficulties playing this audiobook for me, I did enjoy the narrator and felt they really portrayed Sorinda's voice well.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an audiobook galley of this novel. All thoughts and reviews contained within this review are my own.
This was SO fun!! What a lovely continuation of this trilogy. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrator for this book too! Thoroughly enjoyable.
So is it smart to start a book thats number 3 in a series without having actually read the prior books? Probably not but I like to live a little dangerously now and then. Even so it was still an enjoyable story and at sone point I might go back and read the other books.
I really enjoyed this audiobook story about a young woman, who is the daughter of the Pirate King, and her escapades and adventures. She has romance, undead walking through water, and epic fights. The narrator also did an excellent job bringing the characters to life. I recommend this to any readers that enjoy romantic adventures, fantasy, or just a fun audiobook. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me a copy of the audiobook, in return for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Young Listeners, Feiwel & Friends, Tricia Levenseller, and Krissi Bohn (audio narrator) for the opportunity to read and listen to the audiobook of Vengeance of the Pirate Queen in exchange for an honest review.
Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is a seemingly stand-alone companion novel to the Daughter of the Pirate King duology. While some characters make a cameo or are referred to here and there, it is not necessary to read the original duology in order to enjoy this novel.
This novel follows 18-year-old Sorinda, an assassin who works for the pirate queen. Instead of tasking her with an assassination, Alosa tasks Sorinda to captain a crew for a rescue mission. While not what she was expecting, Sorinda obliges anyway. Unfortunately, the helmsman is 20-year-old Kearan, whose attractiveness she can neither deny nor ignore.
During their quest across the sea, Sorinda and her crew awaken the King of the Undersea, a seemingly unkillable man who can control the dead, and is half-dead himself. The Undersea King seems to have a thirst for Sorinda, seeking her as a partner. With a search for a device to bring him down and keep the dead at bay, Sorinda and the crew put their mission aside to ensure their own survival.
Between sea monsters, storms, the King of the Undersea, and growing feelings for her helmsman, this book is full of adventure, risk, and romance. As a companion novel, it also functions as an enjoyable stand-alone with a self-contained adventure.
Recommended for teen readers, lovers of adventure, and seekers of swash-buckling pirate tales, this book has an excellent plot with fun cameos and references for those who have read the original duology.
I really loved listening to this book! The narrator is perfect for the main character, and she gives other characters a distinct voice. The plot was engaging and I saw a lot of character development which is my favorite part of a book.
This book is an offshoot from a series and the claim was that this could be read as a stand-alone. This claim is true; I didn't feel like I was missing anything from outside the book. The story focuses on the characters in the book and the actions reflect that. Tricia Levenseller did a beautiful job with this boo0k.
Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
I've enjoyed this series so far and this was a good side story. I enjoyed learning more about Sorinda and would definitely continue the series if there is more. The narrator did a great job as well.
