I was so excited to get back to the world of the Pirate Queen! Sorinda has always been a bit of a mystery, so being able to see inside her head and heart this time around was fun. This story is full of danger and adventure! I do wish there was more background on the siren artifact and the people protecting it. The narrator did an amazing job as well.

This was so fun to listen to, I loved the adventure and the slow burn enemies-to-lovers vibe between Sorinda and Kearan (I loved Kearan so much by the time I finished this). I liked seeing Sorinda's character growth throughout as well. I do think I would've enjoyed it more if I read the previous books as even though this one could be a standalone, it references characters and plot points from the other books in this series. Overall a sweet slow burn romance and fun adventure!

Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for the ARC!

I remember back in 2017 when I first read Daughter of the Pirate King and I was immediately entranced by how unique it was reading a pirate adventure novel at the time. As I revisited this series this year, all the joy and excitement from this series came back to me like it was yesterday. In this new installment, Vengeance of the Pirate Queen follows one of Alosa’s most trusted members and best friend, Sorinda, as she goes on a rescue quest and captains her own ship and crew. Filled with the same romantic tension from Daughter of the Pirate King and a vividly imagined world setting that was expanded from Daughter of the Siren Queen, fans will enjoy the level of internal dialogue and high-octane action as much as I did. I am so thankful to not only Tricia for bringing some of my favorite characters back to life but also to the fans who find delight in how riveting and action-packed this series is.

The narrator, Krissi Bohn, did a wonderful job reviving this series after a years-long hiatus from the last book. Since this book focuses on a different character with a different narrator, I was worried how well this narration will go when I've been accustomed to Alosa's narrator. But Bohn made Sorinda a fantastic characterization with depth and conviction. Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is a fantastic addition to the series.

Okay yeah, this was pretty great! Vengeance of the Pirate Queen quickly throws you back into a familiar world with familiar characters. This book follows Sorinda's POV as they go on another adventure, with her as Captain! She showed character growth by the end. I loved how fast paced and action packed this story was. There was always something interesting happening. I loved how morally grey so many of the characters were. I mean, pirates. Duh. I definitely recommend this one to fans of The Daughter of the Pirate King duology.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book was all around pretty perfect. I was immediately drawn in by the cover. Then, I read the word pirate and was sold. Unfortunately I did not realized it was third book till I was about to start reading . . . so I had to go back and read all three. And I was NOT disappointed. I was suddenly very glad I hadn't found this series till book 3 because once I entered the world in book one I did not want to leave and I was glad I didn't have to wait for a future publication. That trend continued all the way till book three. The world was still great, the characters were sti8ll well written, and the story was exciting and well paced. I loved the narrators, too!

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was in a trilogy but I did read from the author it could be read as a stand alone as it is a third in this series but it was ‘helpful’ to read the others as well.

I love the writing in this perfectly. The strong female MC made this all the better for me. I’m going to have to read from book one now and get the series.

I did read that others hated the cover because it doesn’t match the other covers. I haven’t seen the other covers but for me this cover is what drew me to read this book and I absolutely love the cover.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for allowing me to read this book. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone! I was not paid for this review and it is my honest opinion.

I'd like to thank NetGalley for giving me an audio-arc in exchange for an honest review.

It's been many, many years since I had the pleasure to read about the adventures of Alosa and of course Riden, and I thought that their adventure was over and I'd never see them again.

I was *sort of* right.

Vengeance Of The Pirate Queen follows Sorinda as she goes from assassin to captain, taking a crew to find missing pirates. And then things just get wild. We do get a few glimpsesof Alosa! But tbh, I didn't miss her as we got to really know Sorinda, and, of course, Kearan.

Ugh, Kearan. SWOON.

The characters were excellently written, and watching their relationship bloom was fantastic.

Onto the plot, because things got intense real fast.

The book is marketed as the Mummy meets Pirates of the Caribbean and yeah. That's exactly how I'd sum it up. This book had it all: undead, immortals, a powerful artifact, monsters, intense battles, and of course the walk. You know, the one in PotC where they're under the water and coming for the ship? Yeah. YEAH.

I absolutely adored this book and highly recommend it. Especially if you enjoyed the Daughyer of the Pirate King duology, you'll love coming back to these characters and watching this new story unfold.

I devoured this audiobook. I did not want to put it down.

An eighteen-year-old assassin is tasked with captaining a pirate crew sent on a rescue mission. Along the way, Sorinda must deal with working with twenty-year-old Kearan, whom she decidedly does not have feelings for; deal with a stowaway, who reveals her softer side; fight off sea creatures; traverse treacherous waters; face unexpected enemies and supernatural forces; and push herself to the brink in order to protect her crew.

This one is full of action and adventure on the high seas, danger on an uncharted island, and a bit of romance, too.

Fair warning: if blood bothers you, this may not be the book for you.

Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is book three in the Daughter of the Pirate King series but can be read as a standalone.

I listened to the audiobook version and was transported by Krissi Bohn’s narration. She infuses her voice with bravery, steel, vulnerability, and humor to fit Sorinda’s moods. I highly recommend this one on audio.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Macmillan Audio and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

Well. This was a twisty, turn adventure! I binged the first two books in this world and was SO excited to get this audio for Pirate Queen just before a long road trip. I was all in with sea monsters, the white walkers and Sorinda. We all loved Sorinda and Kearan in the first two books and getting to see their story come together was so much fun. It was like coming into a comfortable world, but with all new games and rules. This is billed as The Mummy meets Pirates of the Caribbean and I am going to level that up with a layer of Game of Thrones. This is fast, fun and perfect for readers of all ages.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series enough to want to read this new book from the moment I saw it announced. I was excited to see how things continued especially knowing it was going to be Sorinda's story (plus Kearan). I think I liked this even more with how the characters had matured and the author's writing has also matured. This book had some really unexpected turns and I loved it! I was completely surprised by a twist and how it directed so much of the book. I was cheering for Kearan to "get the girl" as it were with Sorinda and enjoyed how that played out at the end.
The audiobook version was really well done. I enjoyed the narrator who made me feel like I was part of this fantasy world and right there with Sorinda. She really held me captive and was easy to listen to and follow along with the story. It definitely felt like listening to a storyteller recount a tale. I recommend the audiobook version.
I received an advance listening copy of this novel from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 stars. There is some swearing (mostly the “s” word) and some violence.

Was able to read this ARC due to the generosity of NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and Tricia Levenseller. I enjoyed Sorinda's 'awakening' in this book... she thought herself unworthy of family or love only to be proven wrong and made stronger through the trials and tribulations of a mission that she did not want to undertake but did at the behest of her captain, Alosa. Hopefully, another of Alosa's crew will get their own book to tell how they became who they are. Regardless, Sorinda is one of my favorite assassins and characters in this series.

So fun to be back in the YA world of the Daughter of the Pirate King! It had been a couple of years since I finished the first two books in this series, but I was mostly able to jump right back in.

This is a story of two of Alosa's crew members who didn't totally get along in the first books. Alosa calls on Sorinda to lead a crew on a rescue mission and sends Kearan along to help. All kinds of adventures come up but the story really lies in Sorinda's growth as she becomes a leader for the first time. Kearan doesn't allow her to stick to the shadows she's used to (for assassinating) but turns out, is a great support person. If only Sorinda will let him in!

The audiobook narrator did a fantastic job. She was easy to listen to and told the story so well that it kept me hooked from the get go. Would highly recommend the audio!

okay first thing’s first: did not realize this was the third in a series of pirate romance novels, and this is the only one i’ve read. That being said, it’s a standalone so it didn’t matter!!

Here’s what I liked: the side characters were fucking delightful. There’s one character whose entire purpose in the novel is to get the stoic love interest of the MC to admit he’s his bestie. Incredible. 10/10. I also did enjoy that it was a bit of a mystery plot and they were on a rescue mission. I find those plotlines compelling!

What I didn’t like: the siren commentary. Yes, sirens traditionally lure men into the sea. Totally, but pirates were a haven for queer people and also you cannot look me in the eyes and say with a straight face none of these characters were queer. So why were sirens treated as a threat only to the male pirates? I found it a weak choice, and it reeked of comphet. I also hated the fact that we have no idea how old the love interest is but he’s been pining over the barely 18 MC for years. Yuck.

All in all, I enjoyed this book, but I really struggled with the love story and certain world building choices.

rep: Black MC, indigenous group

spice: none

tw: on page murder, discussion of murder of an entire family, maiming

This book is perfect for anyone who loved the original duology.

Sometimes when a new instalment is released so far out from the original publication so of the canon events, characters, etc become almost recognizable. This book was the exact opposite. The characters remain true to who they were when we last saw them.

It was nice to be able to see more of Sorinda as she was shrouded in mystery previously. This also gave me hope we will be seeing more books from this world as some other characters’ secret back stories were hinted at.

I definitely got the Mummy meets POTC vibes but I also saw a lot of influence from the white walkers in GOT.

This book isn’t overly complicated, nor do I feel like I’ll be left thinking about it now that I’ve finished. However, overall this was a fun, easy read, and it did exactly what it was meant to!

When I originally read the Daughter of the Pirate King duology, I loved the pirates, action, and side characters, but I felt that the characters were a little bit shallow and the romance rushed. However, when I got to the second book and a romance between Kearan and Sorinda was hinted at, I kept reading for them. So I went into Vengeance of the Pirate Queen ready to love the characters and romance, but wary of the writing style. Luckily, I found this book to be a great improvement on the first two. The writing style was more mature, as were the characters, who had the depth that I was looking for in Alosa and Riden. Although I found the first half of this book a bit slow in terms of romance and adventure, the second half more than made up for it. I loved seeing Kearan and Sorinda's story unfold, and this story's quest and monster were very interesting.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen; it is one of my favorite duologies of all time. Because of that I went in to this book with really high hopes. While I did like this book, it just wasn't as special as the original duology.

This book is a spin off from the Daughter of the Pirate King duet that follows the assassin Sorinda on her rescue mission given to her by her boss and friend Alosa (The FMC from the original duet). On this journey she is given Kearan as a Sailing master to assist her, but she already has her mind made up about how she feels for him. On this journey they accidentally wake up the King of the Undersea who controls the dead.

This book was a little bit slow to start. I feel like I wasn't really invested in this story until about half way through the book, but from that point on I was hooked. This book was also missing the tension that I wanted from the main couple. Sorinda and Kearan just didn't have much chemistry together and it felt like they were together out of convenience for the story, rather than because they were crazy about each other.

I would recommend this book because I did enjoy it, but it just fell short of the masterpiece that was the Daughter of the Pirate King duet.

I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, so I was really excited to read the third installment. Vengeance of the Pirate Queen did not let down. There is something about the way these books are making that make me forget I am reading.

The pirate queen, Alosa, sends one of her best assassins, Solinda, on an important mission that has nothing to do with an assassination. Solinda is tasked with a rescue mission to save crew members Alosa had infiltrate one of the land king’s ships and who have failed to check in. Going with Solinda is Kearan, who has shown Solinda more affection than she would like. The journey does not go as planned and from sea monsters to an island filled with a variety of threats, including the King of the Undersea who can control the dead, the trip turns into a wild adventure.

I absolutely loved that we got a new perspective in this book. I loved reading Alosa’s story in the first two books, but it was really nice to see Solinda’s story in this one. She is in the first two books, but in those I found her to be a bit mysterious and I was curious about her. She is both damaged and strong in a complex, but intriguing way.

I loved every moment of this book, and it was an easy 4 stars for me. I am very hopeful that there will be more books in this wonderful series.

Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is the third book in the world of the Daughter of the Pirate Queen duology. It’s technically a standalone and I think you could read it without having read the first two books, but I think having the character background made it a lot more enjoyable!

The characters and world building were my favorite parts of this book. Kearan and Sorinda are fabulous and I love their chemistry. I thought they had great character development as well, and while this was still a YA, it felt slightly older than the DotPK duology, which I enjoyed. We also got to see some more cool magic and creatures!

I would definitely recommend picking this one up when it comes out November 7 if you liked Daughter of the Pirate King!

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this ALC!

- It's been a while since I read the Daughter of the Pirate King duology, but I think I liked this one even more! It's also supposed to be a standalone set in the same universe-for people who haven't read the other two, don't worry because it is not vital; for people who have, you'll get to see a lot of old favorites!
- I loved the worldbuilding/magic in this one! It was such a departure from the sirens/pirates, while also really building upon that. It also was kinda creepy, so it would be a great Halloween read!
- I really enjoyed the cast of characters! There are a few who I hope get their own spin off after reading this one (Rosalind specifically)!
- The romance was well done, but I found myself more interested in some of the fantasy elements!
- I really liked the narrator, and I found it really easy to get invested in the book! The pacing is great, so I ended up reading this one really quickly!
