I was able to listen to this book on my drive home.
I was immediately drawn in. I enjoyed the character development and familiarity of them. You could feel the venom of revenge and the need to right a wrong. Sorinda as the assassin and main character was brilliant! After reacting revenge, she is made Captain! She sets off with her new crew to find some spies as well as some old friends. I loved that Kearan made a returns still sober and still very much in love with Sorinda. You will have vulnerabilities revealed as well as growth of the characters. They have to face their past, learn and accept forgiveness, as well as hope for a better future. This book takes you on a wild ride!

You don’t have to read the two previous books to enjoy this one but I definitely believe you’ll fall deeper into the story if you do!

I had no clue that this was a part of a series, but I will definitely go back and read the first two books of the series now! I loved the tie between the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Mummy! Two of my fav movies. Loved the strong female lead as well. Great narration!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

If you have been following this series, this does not disappoint! The narration for this story was excellent and kept me so engaged. I loved learning about Sorinda, her life as an assassin and the refreshing turn of the series from the main characters to an interesting character like Sorinda. I would highly recommend this one. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Macmillan Audios for a chance to read the 3rd installment of a loved series.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this audiobook early. When I had requested it I hadn't realised that it's the third book in a series, but now I need to go backwards and read the others. It was so good with well rounded characters and a fast pace. I felt like I was actually there.

It took me less than 24 hours to listen to this audiobook of Levenseller's 3rd installment of this series. This is about the assassin, rather than the main character from the first two books. I did not read the 2nd one, as I didn't love the first book - I found it fun but hard to finish. This one largely felt the same way. I did enjoy the story, as well as the assassin's growth throughout the book. My main complaint is the lack of chemistry with the love interest. I honestly thought she had more chemistry with the thousand-year-old monster guy, despite his flaws. I also don't love the message of a reformed alcoholic. I grew up in a household with an alcoholic, and I know from personal experience as well as extensive research, that alcoholics rarely kick the disease. Even if they do, their brain chemistry is forever altered. However, despite all of this, I still enjoyed the journey, the story, and most of all, the narrator. She had a beautiful, soothing voice, and as I said before, it only took me about 24 hours to finish.

Sorinda is one of those characters that you love to hate. Or maybe you will just hate her. Either way, she is a strong female character who doesn't take BS from anyone. I really enjoyed this story. I listened to the audiobook (as I have listened to the rest of the series on audio as well), and thought the narrator did a great job. I love how this was part of the same series, but was a new character. I enjoyed the character growth as well. While you might hate Sorinda, her character growth throughout the story was done really well, which is something I appreciate. This book had me captured from the beginning and I really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend this one if you've enjoyed the rest of the series.

I just recently(ish) read the first two books in this series, so it was perfect timing to see this audiobook available on NetGalley!

I am so glad I got to read this book in audio format. The narration was perfect. Krissi Bohn gave a perfect voice to Sorinda's character and really engaged me in the story.

This book inspires such a sense of adventure that it's hard to not get swept away by it. The opening chapter is a fantastic way to grab the reader's attention (or mine at least, but I've always loved that darker stuff)! The book only keeps up that momentum as the story progresses. From navigating the sea in horrible weather, to battling with other pirates and sea monsters, to becoming stranded on a hostile and unforgiving land, there is always something going on that kept me turning the pages- or in this case, stopped me from hitting the pause button.

I loved learning more about Sorinda. It was interesting to see her loyalty in a different light, as we get her POV in this book and didn't in the first two. Her backstory is heart-wrenching for sure, and I could really empathize with her social awkwardness and the pressure she felt to be dependable and perfect all the time. Seeing her grow into herself throughout this book was a treat, and the role Kearan played in that growth was perfect. The return of some of the original characters, including Kearan, was so fun! I loved seeing how he had grown from the first two books, and the solid support he gave Sorinda was very much what she needed. They might not have in-your-face chemistry, but I liked that their relationship was more of an enemies to friends to lovers. It matched both of their characters and backstories perfectly, and I think anything else would have been implausible.

I don't want to say anything too spoilery, so I'll wrap it up here by saying this is my favorite book in this series and one of my favorites by Tricia Levenseller as a whole. I was vividly picturing every scene that was described while also falling for the characters and, of course, wishing I was a part of their crew. The narration was excellent and I'm hoping Bohn continues to narrate audiobooks! I'd definitely recommend giving this book a read/listen, and though it's marketed as a standalone, I think you'll get more enjoyment if you read the Daughter of the Pirate King duology first.

When I tell you I happy danced when I got this ALC... just ask my coworkers who got to witness it. I am reminded, yet again, of how much I love the worlds and characters Levenseller creates. This story takes place shortly after the events of the Daughter of the Pirate King duology. It's marketed as a standalone, and could certainly be read as such, but I'd highly recommend reading the duology first to get the full experience. This story features lots of cameos of former favorites and continues the world building started there.

The fmc is a tiny bit prickly and standoffish. Rightly so, considering her past. The journey for her is as much about healing from her past as it is about the romance. I love how Levenseller writes romance! This one is no different, I ATE up the chemistry between the mcs. The mmc has some seriously swoony moments as well as his own past he is working through. I like that he's not written to be this beautiful, model-like guy, but a harsh pirate. The villain of this story was so NOT what I was expecting and it takes a severe turn I didn't see coming. Really, really liked this plot arc!

One of my absolute favorite portions of this story revolves around a certain familiar character from the duology who sneaks aboard the ship at the beginning. She adds so much to the story and offers some comic relief at times where the story gets a little dark.

Is it just me and my wishful thinking or is this setting up future books????

The audiobook was well done! Zero complaints here. I listened on 1.3x with no issues.

I loved this story & this audio narrator was AMAZING! This series has been the start of my fantasy reads and I have loved all 3. When I saw the main character wasn’t Alosa I didn’t think it would be a 5 star… I want more of her story. I was wrong… hearing Sorinda’s story was exactly what I needed. I was so emotionally connected to her from the start. The complexity of all the characters, the strength they have, the love for each other, & loyalty to each other inspires me!

Since I listened to it instead of reading a physical book I got a little lost in some of the magic, etc but it didn’t stop me from wanting to know more.

I love strong female characters and the enemies to lovers story line.

When will the next book be out?! I need to know more!!!

Women make the best pirates.

Like the first two books in the series, Vengeance of the Pirate Queen was INTENSE and nonstop, and Krissi Bohn was an exceptional narrator! Her cadence and emotion brought this story to life and drew you right into the suspense and intrigue of this high seas adventure.

Sorinda and Alosa are the fiercest pirates and not to be trifled with. I love how loyal these two are to each other, and how they never hesitate to offer support for the other. Along with their crew, this group of pirates is the perfect found family. I adored Sorinda in the first two books and am so grateful we got to learn more about her character. My heart shattered when she opened up about her past, but I loved seeing her finally work through past trauma, embrace forgiveness, and open her heart to being supported by the crew along with the hope of future joy and dreams.

This adventure is filled with so many fantastic, tense fight scenes that will have you holding your breath and on the edge of your seat. While it is the third installment in the series, this book can be read as a standalone, though I do think you will have a better reading experience with the backstory and adventures of the first two books. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a high seas adventure with sword fights, magic, found family, and strong heroines.

I was worried I wouldn’t like this one as much because it wasn’t about Alosa and Riden, but I loved it! Sorinda makes a lovely leadings lady. I couldn’t get enough of this story!

i really enjoyed the narrator on this audio and thought that her voice fit very well with the story. I was so excited to return to this world. everything about the world building, characters and writing is such a comfort to me. I found this tale to be exciting, full of unexpected things and yet also the same pirate shenanigans that i have come to love Levenseller for. I can't wait to see if there will be more!

Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is the third book in the series. It is sold as a stand-alone but a lot of the deeper plot points and world building history be lost if read as a stand-alone. I was a fan of the characters, pirate antics and humor of the previous books. This book focuses primarily on new characters with characters from the first books acting as support characters. The humor and pirate antics play a part in this book as well but were a tad subdued.
The plot is simple, Sorinda, assassin turned pirate captain is sent on a rescue mission to find and return missing pirates. Along the way, Sorinda finds self forgiveness, an undead suitor and a new perspective of her helmsman, Kearan.
This book was fun and a quick adventure that wraps up well. It did keep the story on the surface level, even when dealing with past trauma. I wanted a bit more depth but overall I enjoyed the quick pirate adventure.

Woohoo! What a fun thrilling amazing adventure. Loved that these characters were actually cutthroat pirates and fought and killed. Usually YA is pretty vague in allowing its villains to be villains.

I'm not a fan of romanticizing pirates and assassins. Not sure why they have to be pirates rather than sailors? Why assassin and not a bodyguard or something? This story makes a big hullabaloo about the main character's awful life and all the people she has to kill, but then also how torn up she is about people dying completely out of her control but blaming it on herself. It doesn't actually make a lot of sense.

Rather formulaic fantasy that I found more redundant than adventurous. From the beginning through the end, I could not be convinced to feel anything for the characters or their drama.

I received and audio copy to listen and review. Voluntarily and honestly from NetGalley and MacMillan audio. The narrator is excellent! She was wonderful to listen to. She did the different characters very well and wasn't silly for the male voices which was awesome.

I loved The Daughter of the Pirate King (and its sequel, Daughter of the Siren Queen), so it was a blast returning to the that world and some of my favorite characters. In this standalone, Vengeance of the Pirate Queen, we get to see the Queen's assassin, Sorinda, in action. The book starts with a bang, and it doesn't really ever slow down. When Sorinda returns from her most recent assassination, Alosa has a new job for her--she names Sorinda captain of her own ship and sends her and her new crew off on a rescue mission. Unfortunately, Kearan is assigned to the ship as her navigator. When they met, he was a dissolute drunk, but lately he's been changing his ways, and yet Sorinda remains unimpressed.

Together, the crew sets off and sails into uncharted waters in search of the missing girls. They fight a sea monster and end up shipwrecked on an inhospitable island protected by fierce strangers. One thing leads to another and suddenly they're having to deal with having woken up a vengeful immortal who is determined to make Sorinda his bride.

Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is fast=paced and action-packed--a walloping whale of a tale with a sizeable splash of adventure, a dash of romance, and lots of walking undead.

The narrator Krissi Bohn delivers an incredible performance as Sorinda. I was completely sucked into the world of pirates, sirens, and monsters. If you loved Daughter of the Pirate King, you're going to love Sorinda and Kearan's adventure! Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillan Audio for my advance listening copy.

I enjoyed this pirate adventure that focuses on the Pirate Queen Alosa's assassin Sorinda. This adventure focuses on the fearless assassin Sorinda who refers to herself as the monster in the dark that one should be afraid of. Sorinda is a vicious assassin who takes pride in working for her Pirate Queen and enjoys seeking vengeance. I loved Sorinda's take no prisoner heroine attitude, but at the same time shows her vulnerabilities that deal with her past. Sorinda is given the task by Alosha the Pirate Queen to bring back her fellow pirate crew from her unit that have been taken captive. Sorinda is nervous because this will be the first time that she will be captain of a pirate ship, and she is isn't confident in her ability not to endanger the lives of her fellow ship mates. Pirate Queen Alosa sends Kerean to assist her on this journey but Sorinda does not wish for him to be on the ship. Kerean frightens Sorinda her because he sees through her and is able to ruffle her feathers. I loved the banter between Sorinda and Korean. I also adored the little Stowaway named Rosalind. She was adorable.
On this journey Sorinda and her crew will fight dangerous beasts and the walking dead. I enjoyed the adventurous of Sorinda and her bandit of pirates.
I also love the cover of this book. No it does not look like the cover of the other books, but the cover is new and refreshing. It also fits the description of Sorinda in the book, and it is beautiful.
I highly recommend. I want to thank Net galley and Macmillan audio for this opportunity to listen to this arc audio. I enjoyed the narration. I give this read four stars.

Thank you Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Young Listeners, and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this book. I really enjoyed this wonderful story with greatly developed characters, non-stop action, and fabulous writing. I’m only sorry that I discovered the series with this book, so am going to catch up and read the first 2 books. Definitely recommend this fun, exciting read to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy.

I really enjoyed both Daughter of the Pirate King duology, and so I was excited for Sorinda’s story.

I’m not sure if it was me, the narrator, or the story itself, but I had a hard time getting into the story and connecting with Sorinda. I found that at time the story was repetitive, and felt long.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for thé ARC in exchange for am honest review.
