I was only able to get to 8% as it continued to crash each time restarting it. I restarted my system and it did nothing to help out I would love to try again when the systems are fixed and it can play continuously

Edit** I was able to listen without delays and prior to March 2020 I exclusively read only phillip margolin book and he remains my favorite political thriller author this is my first phillip margolin book since March 2020 and I need to fix that. Our family would each rush out and buy a Paperback and when we were done we would race to see who could pick it up next. Updated rating as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this quick whodunit. The events intertwined easily, and the plot was easy to follow. The ending tied up loose ends and the reader was spectacular. It was easy to pick up and put down for a busy schedule. I definitely recommend!

Betrayal by Phillip Margolin
Robin Lockwood Series Book 7
Narrated by Therese Plummer
Hooray! Rockin’ Robin is back in previous form. I was so bummed by the prior book in this series that I could not believe it. It was completely ridiculous. This book is much more like earlier books in the series and I enjoyed it immensely. It wasn’t really too hard to spot the culprit but I didn’t care. And to top it off, Robin has a new romantic interest. A minor complaint is that there is a main character called Mandy and a minor character called Amanda. Just made me have to stop and think for a second when Amanda was mentioned.
Narration by Therese Plummer is always excellent except for the mispronunciation of the name Nguyen. Luckily he was a character who only appeared in one scene.
Looking forward to the next book in this much loved series.

This book is the latest and the Robin Lockwood series. She’s an ex fighter turned lawyer. She’s smart, she’s fearless, she takes no sh!t. She’s a female protagonist we all want to be.

In this book, she’s coming off of the death of someone very close to her and trying to figure out where she goes from here. Trying to put the pieces of her almost happily ever after, back together.

As usual, she has another complicated case, with lots of twists and turns. Legal thrillers, or something that Philip Margolin excels at, especially in this series. I’m not someone who is very big on series because I get bored after a while but I love Robin Lockwood’s character so much that I could totally see myself reading this series, even if it goes on and on forever.

This is one of those books that as I’m listening to/reading it I can actually picture everything in my mind as if I’m watching a movie and I just forget that I’m reading.

I highly recommend this series. The books are quick reads, and you’re gonna love all the characters. One thing I missed in this book was Regina Barrister. She was such a great character. I have a terrible memory, but somehow I remember her character so well. I loved the relationship she had with Robin Lockwood.

I highly recommend this book and I think you’ll love it too.

There’s lots of crimes going on in this book as well as loads of action. I was thoroughly engrossed in the audiobook. The characters were colorful, the bad guys were really awful, and the good people won in the end. In the meantime, there were four murders, a slimy insurance crime, some assaults, as well as a few others crimes that could be a spoiler. I’ll be sure to look for more books by this author.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio, NetGalley and Phillip Margolin for the early release of the audio book for a fair and honest review.

Quick read, and I enjoyed! I was definitely not expecting the ending that happened! Sick and twisted that these things happen in the world we live in. The character development was good and I liked how the author kept us guessing.

The reader did a great job!

Betrayal is the newest book in Phillip Margolin’s Robin Lockwood series. I have enjoyed the series, which now has 6 or so books already published, and while Betrayal is a good legal thriller, it is not quite up to the standard the others set. Robin continues to struggle with the grief of her fiancée’s untimely death three years earlier. But that struggle does not diminish her effectiveness of a lawyer when she’s called upon to represent a former MMA opponent - one who outclassed her in their one match, a defeat that confirmed her decision to quit the MMA circuit and attend law school. The set up for the quadruple-murder case that her client now faces is fine, but early clues helped me figure out the “who done it and why” well before the end. The ending held no surprises for me, although other readers might feel differently. Margolin fans, of which there are many, will be eager to read Betrayal, as will other readers looking for a more-than-adequate legal thriller. The narrator of the audiobook really enhanced the story. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Superlative narrator. Interesting story. Very likable protagonist. I'm a big Phillip Margolin fan. I would read anything he writes. I would rank this book as better than those written by most authors, but not his best, and that would be because the plot felt a little thin in the last quarter of the book to me. It did not keep me from enjoying it and I still enthusiastically recommend it.

BETRAYAL is a book you won't want to miss out on. This is a fast-paced murder mystery thriller. I enjoy a good courtroom trial and this one had it. Robin was such a strong character and I liked her determination to prove her clients’ innocence. I didn't predict the ending and that was just an added bonus. Betrayal is book seven in the Robin Lockwood series but it can read as a stand-alone.

Many thanks to Macmillian Audio and NetGalley for my gifted ALC

3.75. My bad for not realizing this was part of a series. I’m sure it would be rated higher if I had read the rest and been more invested in the main character. However, I enjoyed it a lot so I will definitely be going back to read from the beginning. I did call the twist early on, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.
Narration was a 5/5 for sure!

This new Robin Lockwood crime thriller is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone book. This story has it all: murder, legal drama, romance, and MMA fighters! I really liked the main character, Robin, who is a tough female criminal defense attorney. My only negative to this book, is that some of the facts were repeated in different points in the story and it was unnecessary. Overall, I did enjoy listening to the audiobook and think the narrator made the story better than if I was just reading this one.

Thank you @macmillan.audio for allowing me to listen to this audiobook ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

I was able to arc read this from Netgalley. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this beauty! I have never read any of other books by this author as this was number seven in the series. Although it played out as a stand alone but maybe the whole series connects. I don’t know but at this point of time I am a huge fan and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series and any other stuff from the author!

Quite riveting to say the least! There were numerous plot twist and I could never guess what it would be ahead of time (makes for an amazing book for me). It had me going back to make sure I had the details right. Amazing read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
