I tried to enjoy this because I’ve really liked Katherine Center’s last two releases, but unfortunately I didn’t care for this.
My main issue was that I thought the male main character/our love interest was, well, kind of a dick. He was rude and belittled what Emma does for a living.
He was not redeemed in my eyes…

The cover and it’s sprayed edges are bright and striking and are absolutely gong to pull you in right off the bat.
However I LOVED this book and I’ll definitely pick up other books this author writes going forward. The complex back story, the hilarious and fun banter between the two main characters and light hearted moments really stand out and shows that this book was well planned.
Emma’s backstory is close to my heart — though I did not have to give anything up besides my own time I also had to help take care of my father up until his passing while my mom was working to pay the bills. I was able to relate to the struggle of wanting to be able to do what was needed to reach dreams, while also having a literal full time job being a caregiver.
Perhaps that’s why I relate to this book so well, but i devoured this book quick and would recommend scooping it up yourself.

It's another win for Katherine Center! I loved this novel; it might even be my favorite. In true Katherine Center fashion, both Charlie and Emma come into this story with a complex backstory that just pulled me in and had me invested in their happiness. It's grumpy/sunshine with great banter, lots of character development, and a sweet slow burn. I adored Emma and Charlie and the way they quietly fall for each other while trying so hard to avoid it for different reasons. Every movie reference and role-playing experience just made me smile and I loved all the side characters that flush out their lives. If you're looking for something steamy, this is not it, but tender affection and thoughtful gestures abound. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

A cute, young person story of rom-coms and romance. Emma wants so much to be a scriptwriter and is offered an amazing opportunity but Charlie is an obstacle on the way to her success. He is not a fan of the rom-com. Cute story on how Emma changes his mind!

I personally don’t think Katherine Center is the author for me. There is something I really don’t like about her writing, especially the dialogue. It feels cringey. Almost like Gilmore girls dialogue and I don’t like that show either.

I am a sucker for these tropes…they get me every time. I’ve been hanging on to this one for a while now and finally pulled it out over a little getaway weekend. I’m happy I did. It was lighthearted and what I needed to take my mind off of reality for a short while. Nothing ground-shaking here folks, just a quick, easy, enjoyable story.

Loved this one! I was not expecting all the real life issues that each character was experiencing and processing. They were so complex and going through it. I love when characters are relatable, especially in a romance. Because sometimes when your life is rocky or you have medical issues or are a caregiver, having a love life seems impossible and this book speaks to that. It is about a daughter who put aside her dreams and opportunities to care for her father who was injured, though she feels some responsibility and she had to raise her younger sister because of what happened while caring for him.
Emma gets a chance of a lifetime to work with her idol, a famous screenwriter. She is a ghostwriter and she needs to fix the rom com he wrote. Though when she gets to LA nothing turns out right AT ALL.
She definitely put Charlie on a pedestal and he fell hard and fast but he was an idiot. JK he thought he was doing the right thing. But that ending phone video message then his speech, aahh i almost cried. And the way that he was putting her first in the ending project. The bonus scene was so great! Wish you extended it to the helping of the clothes right after that scene I almost screamed lol. They were so awkward and inexperienced with actual romantic connection and close relationships that it was so cute to watch.
Loved how her family ended up with all the sweet relationships and after the stressful drama of an event at the end. It's so easy to say horrible things when something really bad happens.
So many possible tws for grief, loss of a parent, cancer diagnosis, check the website.

Emma had to put her career as a screen writer on hold after a terrible accident leaves her as caretaker for her dad. Out of nowhere, she gets a chance to rewrite a script for famous screen writer, Charlie Yates. Unfortunately, he's kind of a dick and knows nothing about writing romance. Emma will not give up this once in a lifetime opportunity. Can she convince him that love matters and romance is a worthwhile genre?
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It was so cute plus I love how Center always brings to light certain diseases that might not get the attention.

The Rom-Commers is perfect for anyone looking for a romance novel that also has depth. Katherine Center does a great job capturing both the lighthearted, sucker-for-love protagonist, as well as the cynical love interest.

Katherine Center has such a beautiful way with words, I really love the way she writes and how she crafts her characters and their world. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Emma and Charlie were both screenwriters, but he was a very successful one and she was a “failed” one. They ended up working together, which Emma was ecstatic about, at least in the beginning. Charlie was less than thrilled.
The banter between these two was so good. I enjoyed seeing them fall for each other, though Charlie was trying his best to deny his feelings. And he was kind of an a**hole, at times.
But the romantic gesture at the end? So dang cute.

what a bummer it was to give this book 2 stars.
I love Katherine Center and usually give her books at least above a 4-star, so this shocked me. I just did not like our MMC for the majority of the story. in fact, I found it hard to believe that he even liked our FMC. sometimes he was actually rude and disrespectful to her. this book would have benefitted from a dual pov. That way we could have maybe had some explanations on the choices that the man made and actually be convinced that he cared whether the FMC lived or died.
Additionally, our FMC put a lot on the line to be with this guy and to stick around. This made her seem a little unlikable and dumb because the reader was going, “WTF, girl, just leave?”
I like my romances to give me butterflies, including the little gestures that people do to show you they care. not a journey of a MAN deciding to give her the time of day.

I loved HELLO STRANGER and have enjoyed every other Katherine Center I’ve read so I was excited for this. I felt as if I couldn’t connect with these characters and didn’t find myself invested in this story like I usually am with her books.
Thank you, NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for this ARC!

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for this Advanced Readers Copy of The Rom Commers by Katherine Center!

In The Rom-Commers Emma Wheeler is a girl with a whole lot of writing talent— and a whole lot of responsibility, caring for her dad who needs round-the-clock help. When she gets a chance to work with big-time screenwriter Charlie Yates, it's an opportunity way too big to pass up. Emma's little sister comes to help their dad while Emma heads to LA.
Unfortunately, Charlie didn't ask for help. And he definitely doesn't want the help of “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Yikes. Emma's got grit, and some creative ways to convince that man who doesn't believe in love that maybe love isn't so bad after all. This is a fun read and you may even recognize some characters from Katherine Center's previous work! Love a full circle moment!

I adore Katherine Center and this book was another winner! Her characters are generally loveable and the storyline made me laugh. I really loved and related to Emma, the main character.

This book balances humor, romance, and character so well! I was invested in the story immediately and couldn’t help rooting for the two main characters. The premise of a famous screenwriter needing the help of an aspiring one sets the characters at odds to start, but they gradually get to know one another better in a story both entertaining and full of emotional depth.

Thanks to Net galley, Katherine Center and publishers for this ARC. . Kathryn Center is one of my favorite authors. When I see her new books, I try to grab them and read them right away.. Please look forward to a new book by this author. This one book I read is part of my book club, and I must say I was left wanting something more from this book. I didn’t find it Interesting or as good as most of her books. I I have a little library box in front of my house and I tend to put most of her books that I’ve read in there and they seem to go pretty fast. So there’s that. I will continue to read her and hopefully everyone else will enjoy her as well.

This book is everything to me. It was funny and romantic and sooo emotional! Tears were pouring down my face and I couldn't do anything to stop them! But in the best way possible.
This book read like a romcom (of course), but it also had so much to say about life. There were some extremely wise words in this story, and I will be rereading it to feel all the things I felt again and to take in Katherine Center's wisdom a little deeper.
The fears of the FMC were super relatable for me, but also the fears of the MMC were relatable. I loved their romance plot, but the plot with the FMCs family was engaging, too.
A perfect book doesn't exist, but this was pretty dang close.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

DNF @ 33%. I won't be reviewing this on my blog.
Enemies to lovers is a hard sell for me in general, especially when the author makes it more of hate to love instead of enemies to lovers, which I feel was done here. I am also not a fan of main characters who loathe rich people, but then, when they fall in love with them and change their ways, it's now OK that that person is rich. Those are the main reasons, but I also found the heroine to be really annoying. I can get past that, but I need a good story to offset it. I just couldn't find that here.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.
