Y’all how have I waited so long to read a book by Katherine Center? She had my emotions all over, I just about keeled over from second hand embarrassment multiple times, I wanted to shake sense into characters while simultaneously giving them hugs. Like…. How? This was absolutely adorable and I can already tell it is going to join the very small list of books that I reread.

❤️ Tropes ❤️
💋 celebrity romance
💋 forced proximity
💋 Grumpy vs Sunshine

Emma had a promising career as a screen writer lined up until suddenly a massive accident put her off track. But a decade later, her friend called her to tell her that Logan friggin Yates needs her to help him rewrite a screenplay. She would be ghost writing of course, but it’s with her idol! And it’s her specialty, romcoms to his action movies that blow up stuff. But when she gets there she quickly realizes something. Charlie friggin Yates had no idea she was coming.

5 stars. Loved this!! Sweet and heartwarming without being sappy at all. Have read some others by her and this was by far my fav. Top 5 of the year.

I don't know why I'm always so surprised when I love a Katherine Center book. I must have this weird, highly specific form of amnesia where I forget that I love every single one of her books until I've devoured them. Bizarre.

Anyway, this book was so freaking cute with the most unconventionally lovable MMC and highly adorkable FMC. First half was a little stronger than the back one but I still really enjoyed it.

HUGE gripe though - the author wrote "wah-lah" instead of voila. Twice. It had me side eyeing my kindle and googling whether this was a flammable/inflammable thing where we've just now come to accept the grammatical mistake.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to #NetGalley for this ARC. This is my second Katherine Center book and again 5 star read. I loved both min characters. The banter between both of them is so funny. The family dynamics are also very enriching and full of love and overcoming regret. A must read.

37 pages. It took 37 pages for me to have laughed, tear up, get butterflies, get inspired and to fall for The Rom-Commers. Katherine Center is the best, so I’m in no way surprised that her newest novel is a pure delight. The main female character was so relatable to me and I loved her view and her heart💜 super cute, lovable rom-com!
Anytime you want a feel good, heart inspiring book, pick up something from Katherine Center.

Katherine Center's The Rom-Commers is a delightful and heartwarming journey that perfectly blends romance, humor, and emotional depth. This novel is a testament to Center’s ability to create stories that are not only entertaining but also profoundly touching.

Center's writing style is effortlessly engaging, with a perfect balance of lighthearted humor and heartfelt moments. The comedic elements are genuinely funny, adding a refreshing and enjoyable layer to the romance. The romantic plot itself is both sweet and satisfying, with just the right amount of tension and resolution to keep readers hooked.

Katherine Center’s The Rom-Commers is a delightful, feel-good read that blends humor, heart, and a dash of Hollywood magic. Emma Wheeler is an aspiring screenwriter who dreams of writing romantic comedies. Her big break comes when she gets the chance to re-write a script for none other than Charlie Yates—her writing idol.

Emma's journey is both relatable and inspiring. She's dedicated her life to her dad, and now she finally gets a shot at her dreams. Moving to L.A. for six weeks, she’s ready to prove herself. But things don't go as planned. Charlie Yates is a tough nut to crack. He’s jaded about love, thinks romantic comedies are a joke, and his script is so bad it’s almost funny.

Emma’s determination is what makes this book shine. She’s not just fighting for her career but for the genre she loves. She’s passionate, witty, and not afraid to stand up to Charlie. Their interactions are filled with sharp dialogue and hilarious moments, making their evolving relationship a joy to watch. And when that accidental amazing kiss happens? Pure magic.

What’s great about the book is how it balances the rom-com elements with deeper themes. It’s about following your dreams, the importance of love stories, and finding real love in unexpected places. Emma and Charlie’s journey from reluctant partners to something more is heartwarming and satisfying.

Overall, it’s a must-read for rom-com lovers. It’s charming, funny, and full of heart. Katherine Center has crafted a story that’s as much about the love of storytelling as it is about finding your own happily ever after. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first audio that i have actually fully enjoyed. Usually the readers annoy me but not this one.🎧

I loved Emma and I loved the little disclaimers to the audience.it made me laugh out load. This book was definitely a Rom com and I highly recommend.

This book would be so good as a movie, and i think Glen Powell and Sophie Turner would he perfect for it.🎥

The Rom-Commers was such a good book. I love a Grumpy/Sunshine trope and Katherine delivered.. Emma and Charlie were just wonderful. This book touches on so many topics, including care giving for your parents which I am doing. So, I could really relate to Emma's emotions surrounding being away from her dad.. Katherine captures it all so well. I loved all of the characters in the book and am looking forward to more!

Katherine Center is just my favorite. Just period. I loved Emma and Charlie and their realness. I loved their banter. I didn't feel that they had that thing.... that tingle....the spark. They just made me happy. I loved how Emma loves her family and I love how Charlie gets that.
this was a 5 star book for me!

Another great Katherine Center read! This one has a bit more serious undertone but still an excellent choice if looking for a rom com.

Hey friends! So, there's this Hollywood Screenwriter Superstar, Charlie Yates, who decides to switch gears and write a rom-com. Emma, a longtime friend of Charlie's agent, steps in to help him with the transition. The big question is: can Emma teach Charlie how to write a rom-com and understand love? It's a charming read filled with life lessons and insights about enjoying life. Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the great read!

An aspiring writer lands a job to rewrite a fake rom-com screenplay with a famous and hot screenwriter. Queue the disagreements, family drama, heartfelt gestures, sprinkle a bit of spice, serendipitous misunderstandings and finally a happy ending (which as we have been taught throughout the book is ESSENTIAL to a romantic comedy).

I enjoyed this light fun read. I have read several of Katherine Center's book and this leans more to a beach read than the puller of heart strings. Still an entertaining story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Emma has been the primary caregiver for her father for the past 10 years following a hiking accident. She put her life and her writing career on hold, until she gets the chance to work on her dream project with her favorite writer. People always say never meet your heroes for a reason, but will Emma and Charlie be able to set differences aside to work on the script?

I found The Rom-Commers to be sweet, poignant and laugh out loud funny! Despite the levity of the title, Center also touches on some heavier topics in this book. It draws attention to a little-known vestibular disorder called Meniere’s disease and the aftereffects of a traumatic brain injury. It also describes the life a full-time caregiver, and the stresses, joys and pressures that go along with that. I really felt for both of these main characters, and enjoyed their banter and relationship. I felt that it had a great balance of humor and heartache and I loved it!

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a little behind with my ARC’s but working diligently to get caught up. I loved everything about this book! It had characters that were easy to root for and a plot that was sweet and funny, as any great rom-com should. While parts of the story were predictable, some caught me off guard and I truly enjoyed every minute of this story. If you like romantic comedy, you need to read this book!

Each time I read a new book by Katherine Center I love her writing even more. This one is no exception. The writing is superb. The plot is interesting. I loved Emma, the female main character. I did not always like Charlie because of his words and actions. He did redeem himself in the end. Although rom-coms are fun light stories, there are some heavy topics in this story.

Charlie Yates is a well known and successful screenwriter. He recently wrote a rom-com that was bad. Emma Wheeler has been hired to help Charlie make his rom-com better. Emma is an unknown writer. Charlie does not want her help.

Charlie is convinced to accept Emma’s help. As these two enemies spend time together writing, their close proximity turns their relationship into companionship and eventually….

“If you wait for other people to light you up, then I guess you’re at the mercy of darkness.”
