Another great story from Katherine Center! Kept me intrigued and interested until the end! A great look into the screen writing world!

I think everyone needs to read Katherine Center books because they will easily put a smile on your face especially The Rom-Commers. Come on, who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers story about two screenwriters forced together to try and rework a script when one of them is anti love and the other is obsessed with love?

Emma is a caretaker and put her writing career on the back burner to take care of her dad after his accident, so when she gets a chance to work with a famous screenwriter she hesitantly jumps at the chance. Charlie is determined to hastily put together this screenplay so he can get another one green-lit but that all changed when he met Emma and she tore apart his terrible screenplay. Eventually the two of them begin to spend more time together, writing and doing mundane things like grocery shopping and making dinner while constantly debating the finer points of rom com movies that Emma begins to believe that Charlie might actually have feelings but does he have actual feelings for her.

Okay, I loooved this book🥺 When I tell you I went through all of the emotions reading this, I literally went through ALL of the emotions reading this book. I laughed, I smiled, I was angry, I was sad, I cried (more than once!!). Katherine Center really made me feel it all!

The plot was such a great plot for any romcom lover - I mean of course it would be, just look at the title of the book. What I loved about the story though, and what I love about all of the Katherine Center books I’ve read, is that there is always so much more to the story than just a romance book or a romcom. There were a couple plot points in ‘The Rom-Commers’ which were really serious and emotional, and I found that made me enjoy reading the book that much more.

One of my favourite parts of this book were the characters. I couldn’t help but fall in love with our main characters Emma and Charlie. Watching how their interactions and relationship changed over the course of the book, just filled me with such joy. I was rooting for Emma to teach Charlie what love was the entire time, and was quite entertained along the way.

This was by far my favourite Katherine Center book, and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance books, romcoms but also an emotional read.

This was my first Katherine Center book and I can confidently say I will be going through her entire backlist as soon as possible. This book was everything I want in a rom-com - banter, tension, character development, side characters that kept me interested outside of the main plot, and a romance that I could really root for. The writing style was so enjoyable and easy to read, while also having some beautiful, heartfelt quotes. This book was an amazing rom-com, showcasing the beauty of all types of relationships, not just the romantic kind. I laughed, cried, and was angry at points, but that’s when I know I’ve found a great book/author, because they make me feel such a wide range of emotions. This book perfectly encapsulates the nostalgic feel of a 90s/00s rom-com movie and I can’t recommend it enough.

I love Katherine Center's romances and this one was no different. This romance was romantic but also had some really emotional moments. Highly recommend.

I absolutely devoured this book and was smiling all the way through. Katherine Center creates such relatable characters that you just want to hug and Emma & Charlie were no different. She tackles tough subjects with so much care that it makes the happy ending pay off that much sweeter. Another fabulous five star read from an autobuy author.

Katherine Center has done it again. The Rom-Commers was an absolute hug of a book. I laughed, I cried. My heartstrings were tugged. I loved every page. I related so closely with Emma and her journey and I adored Charlie and his growth. The Rom-Commers will sit on my shelf as another Katherine Center favorite of mine. BRAVO!

As I type these words, I’m realizing that scene may be my Roman Empire but...

What do I love about this book? To begin with…EVERYTHING.

I consumed most of this on audio and let’s be real, Patti Murin didn’t really leave me any other choice. I will listen to just about anything short of right-wing propaganda if she narrates it.

Katherine Center, yet again, mixes the perfect amount of heart with humor. She makes platitudes palatable and relatable in a way that hits the heart instead of rolls the eyes. She is a marvel.

She even…wait for it…describes in detail one of my favorite Ji Chang Wook kiss scenes. I physically flailed and even sent her a DM. And then a voice message to bestie Sara. And then another text to a Ji Chang Wook stan.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this title. Especially on audio, if you’re able/inclined. Pre-order this with my full confidence. This title will be released on June 11, 2024.

It will be the perfect poolside companion.

Oh I love me some Katherine Center and WOW THIS BOOK. SOOO good. So much heart in this story, the Hollywood plot, well it's just a delightful page turner that I did not want to put down. I loved Emma so much. I also think there are lines in this book about how we tell our stories and what we emphasize that will stick with me and that's a really magical thing about fiction. This book is a defense of the rom com and it's simply lovely. I really enjoyed this reading experience, so much so that I bet a reading hangover is in my future. REALLY appreciate NetGalley for the early copy. Thank you!

Charlie Yates can write for just about any genre but when he's tasked with writing the screenplay for a romantic comedy it flops. His agent pleads with him to rewrite it and offers the assistance of a talented but unknown writer, Emma Wheeler. Emma has dreams of making it big as a screenwriter but when given the chance to work with her idol she has some regrets.

The Rom-Commers is a stand-alone, contemporary romance. There are a lot of layers to the plot so it's hard to nail down a specific primary trope. They’re not quite enemies but not quite friends either. I would consider this a forced proximity situation more than anything else.

Beyond watching the development of the MC’s relationship, both of the main characters have extensive personal growth. I found Emma to be incredibly relatable in that she fully embodies the role of an older sibling and all that that entails. It was also interesting to see how her relationship with her family changes from the storyline.

Have you finished a book and thought “oh I want to reread this immediately”? That is how I felt after my first read of The Rom-Commers. I was fortunate enough to be able to also listen to the audiobook a few months later and I can conclusively say that the book was just as good the second time. Patti Murin is a fantastic solo narrator. She does a wonderful job bringing out Emma’s personality.

I’ve reached the point where I can’t choose a favorite Katherine Center book because the quality of her writing is just so consistently excellent. I don’t know what she has next for her readers but I look forward to it.

This was an excellent Romantic Comedy! I love Katherine Center's easy to read writing style. This book kept me engaged throughout and I found myself genuinely caring about the characters. No spice in this one!

A rom-com about writers writing a rom-com??!!! GENIUS! I loved every minute of this book. The plot was engaging and kept me turning every page, but still had all of the heart-warming (and heart-breaking) moments that are always a Katherine Center staple. She somehow manages to progress a plot while also throwing in lines that absolutely just tug at your heart strings. I can't tell you how many times I had to go back and re-read lines just to let them sink in completely. Moments of this book are definitely tongue-in-cheek and play off of the Hollywood romance movie scenes, but a lot of them are unique to Emma and Charlie's love story. I loved these characters and would love to see their story play out in a sequel, but that's just me wishing upon a star. Thanks for the opportunity to read The Rom-Commers as an ARC! I always look forward to all of Katherine Center's works.

The story was amazing. I think it’s Katherine’s best work yet. I loved how Emma learned to let go of what she can’t control and learn that it’s okay to live life and trust others can help carry a load she wasn’t mean to bear on her own. That she was open enough to fall in love despite Charlie’s response. I love that Charlie’s chased after her and made sure she knew just how he felt. Loved it

As soon as I finished this book, I wanted to rush to give a gushing review. But I felt like I needed to let the story marinate a bit before writing down my thoughts. Forget that- my thoughts are still the same days later. This book is AMAZING. Katherine center is a QUEEN who never fails to make me smile, laugh, cry, put a shocked hand to my heart and, best of all, dance.

Charlie won me over from the beginning with his corduroys. Emma won me over with her devotion to her family….and her high dive skills.

Everything I love about a rom com happened in this book about a rom com script. From a literal falling into you to the epic kiss (and a speech to go with it!). I adored nerdy Charlie and self-sufficient Emma. Plus, we can't forget about Cuthbert. There are so many things I love about this book, but I can't write them all down because then this review would be as long as the book. Suffice to say, GO READ IT YOURSELF!

But wait! The appearance of Jack Stapleton (and Hannah!). Plus that fork wave! I shall now carry a fork in my purse and use it exclusively to wave to people. So so so good. I giddily laughed until I swooned. Another absolute win from Katherine Center!

You can never go wrong when you pick up one of her books! Katherine Center will be the one you always have in your library. The Rom-Commers is wonderfully written and you will laugh so hard you might cry.

Wow I really loved this one! I’m a romcom girlie through and through and this gave me every single warm fuzzy feeling that those movies give me. I desperately want to watch this as a movie. Charlie was grumpy but adorable. Even when he was being the worst, I was still rooting for him hardcore! Ugh I can’t wait for this one to come out so I can buy a physical copy and reread over and over again.

Katherine Center hit it out of the park with this one... hands down my favorite book!

You can always count on Katherine Center for the feels. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions... and I loved every minute of it. A must read!

Katherine Center never fails to do it for me! This was everything I want in a romance. There was humor, angst, and just the right amount of heaviness and feelings. I will read everything Katherine Center writes. This book had me literally laughing out loud, then crying, then kicking my feet swooning. 5/5 stars. 10/10, would recommend. Are you looking for a DELIGHTFUL and heartwarming book? Center nails it again with a rom-com read that is so much more than just fluff. From the first page, I was cheering on Emma as she tries to transition from being her Dad's full-time caregiver to an up-and-coming writer trying to create the perfect love story. When she's tasked with helping the salty, jaded, and Hollywood-famous Charlie with a rewrite, Emma realizes she has the additional task of making him believe in the power of rom-coms and love. Somewhere along the way, this odd couple's rewrite starts to feel like they're crafting their very own love story. The Rom-Commers was a joy to read, and it will be a perfect beach read this summer! I enjoyed Katherine Center's newest book! Her ability to create tension between characters is unparalleled. The Rom-Commers is just as the title implies, a delicious romantic comedy, that engages the reader from page 1.
