I loved this newest katherine center novel. It was the cutest storyline between grump and sunshine. Very good banter between the new main characters.

If you love rom-coms, this is absolutely a 5-star, must-read book! It will leave you feeling all ooey-gooey and warm inside.

The characters absolutely leapt off the page, and in my mind, they are 100% real people that exist somewhere in California & Texas. They have depth, and backstories, and just layers and layers of history and personality and their own individual trauma.

Why only 3 stars? This is just my personal preference, honestly. I generally am not a rom-com person unless there is top notch banter, which is why I lean towards the enemies-to-lovers and sunshine/grumpy tropes more often than not, because there's usually better banter between the characters (I like more "com" than "rom"). This book definitely had it's moments! (The FMC, Emma, is the comic relief for sure!)

This is the first book I've read by Katherine Center, and it definitely won't be the last even though it's not typically my genre. That just goes to show you have vivid of a writer Katherine Center is, to get someone wanting to read outside their normal genre!

Katherine Center was my second favorite author; I've read all her books. After reading The Rom-Commers I can comfortably say that Katherine Center is my favorite author. The Rom-Commers is a joyous book about two screenwriters who come together to work on a project, each with their own motivation for doing so. As they struggle through the growing pains of learning to work as a team, they develop real feelings for one another.

I never want to post spoilers, but this book is all about the predictable arc of a romantic comedy and the imperative that after all of the struggle the leads end up happy together, so I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this novel has a delightful happy ending in which the two screenwriters do indeed end up happy together. It's the journey to the end that was so fresh and surprising. I laughed out loud several times.

I am not a rom-com reader generally, so if you are already a rom-com reader I definitely recommend this book. I also recommend it to someone looking for something that manages to be both light and meaningful. I especially recommend it for anyone who needs to be reminded to believe in love.

This was the cutest romcom I've read in a while. I loved the characters banter and although I would've loved to have more scenes where they were actually together I felt the drama of keeping them apart felt more realistic. It had the best amount of sadness, funniness, and love storyline that's really did it for me. Easy 5 stars for Katherine Center and only took me 24 hours to read.

Some things are just too good to be true, and for Emma, the opportunity to work with her idol, screenwriter Charlie is just that. Except that this is a romance novel, so we know from the beginning that things will work out okay and the way that they should.

After putting her life on hold for 10 years to care for her father, Emma allows herself to be pushed out of her comfort zone and go after her dreams. In helping Charlie rewrite what’s supposed to be a rom-com, but is quite horrible, she has the opportunity to educate him (and the reader) about the essential elements of a romance as well as the inherent validity of the genre. Center does this gently and beautifully, crafting a novel that serves as both instruction and entertainment.

For those of us already immersed in the genre, it’s a rewarding story of growth, trust, and love. For those who dismiss romance as fluff, she effectively presents the case for why it’s as legitimate as any other kind of storytelling. This is a book you can feel comfortable sharing with just about anyone you know.

Uhhhhh, why do I read Katherine Center books so fast? I have so many authors I love and Katherine is top 3 on that list. All of her books tackle some sort of issue and I always look forward to learning about something new. I am in love with the love stories she writes. One minute I’m smiling and the next she has me in tears. I can honestly recommend any one of her books and I hope you’ll read all of them!
Emma has given up her hopes and dreams to care for her father who is still suffering from a life changing accident. His round the clock care is a lot but there’s no one else who can do it. Emma is plugging on when she gets a phone call from her best friend and agent letting her know he has landed her an editing job with her favorite author Charlie Yates! Emma must immediately fly to LA to save Charlie from the worst book he’s written before his fans discover he’s lost his mojo.
Leaving her father in the care of her little sister is hard but getting to LA and discovering Charlie doesn’t want her there is a stab to the heart. What Charlie doesn’t realise is that Emma will win her way into his mind and heart without even meaning to and he’d be a fool not to accept her help. Emma brings a fresh perspective and teaches Charlie how to really experience what he writes, to try things out before his characters do, and how to write romance that feels real. The problem is that Charlie doesn’t believe in love anymore and it’s reflected in his writing.
The two will need to work together to accomplish a goal but along the way they will blossom into new people who can learn to forgive and love again.

The things that I liked about this book was Emma's backstory (her family situation in particular), the discussions about what makes a Rom-Com, and the interactions between Emma and Charlie, especially the discussions about writing. And for those of you who have read "The Bodyguard" (also by Katherine Center), it's nice to see Jack Stapleton again.
I also thought it was nice that Charlie (once he was converted) was so supportive of Emma as well.

There were definitely some comical scenes as well, and the book was generally the lighthearted kind of rom-coms that I liked.

The things I didn't like was the actual script that was turned in at the end. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I really felt that the wrong script saw the light of day.

Another great book by one of my favorite authors! The Rom-Commers has Center's signature wit, beauty, and sweetness. (It also reads like the plot of an actual rom-com movie!) This book follows writer Emma as she embarks on an opportunity to write with her favorite screenwriter, Charlie. However, working with him is much more difficult than she anticipated...

Although I enjoyed the plot of the novel, the characters were a little annoying. Compared to Center's other books' swoony love interests, Charlie wasn't that lovable to me. In fact, even after learning about all his trauma (please check the trigger warnings before reading this book!) I thought he was kind of whiny. And Emma was too much of a pick-me girl at times. Together, they didn't have much chemistry, but they could be funny together when they were writing or cooking or hanging by the pool. I really liked the family dynamics within Emma's family. I appreciated how the events of the book brought her family even closer together.

I think this book's greatest strength was its beautiful prose. Many of the lines were so well-written that I had to set the book down, pause, and reflect. I definitely annotated the heck out of this book!

This is my first book to read by Katherine Center and I loved it. I have since added all the others to my to read pile. I fell in love with the characters and laughed with them.

I love everything Katherine Center writes. This was a slow burn for sure and there was lots of unnecessary building. Great characters! The main female and main male were complicated but likeable with their own trauma histories and being able to come together.

I loved reading about Emma and Charlie! An old friend asks Emma to help famous screenwriter, Charlie rewrite his terrible rom-com. Emma has always put her dreams on the back burner because she is the main caregiver for her dad. Now it’s Emma’s time to follow her dream and write a screenplay with Charlie. Things aren’t so easy though because Charlie doesn’t believe in love.

I truly enjoyed this book! Center has a great way of writing about real life experiences and still gives her characters and readers hope for a happy ever after.

Katherine Center can do no wrong! She knocks it out of the park again with this story of two very different writers navigating the difficulties of writing a screenplay. The characters are so real! They are funny, flawed, and fantastic. I read this one in a day!

This book gets ALL of the stars! But if you know me, you already know that Katherine Center is an absolute favorite of mine. Her books speak to me on a completely different level. She writes empathy, compassion, and gratitude like no other. Her books are a balm for the soul. Her latest is no exception. I’m still glowing after reading the last page.

Emma is a writer of screenplays. She picks up jobs here and there from her high school friend Logan who is an agent. For the last 10 years, Emma has been taking care of her father after his accident. She put her life on hold. Logan calls her with an opportunity too good to refuse: help Charlie Yates - famous award-winning screenwriter - fix his abysmal romantic comedy script. It just so happens that Charlie Yates is her FAVORITE writer. This opportunity is too good to pass up. Emma’s sister Sylvie steps in to help with their Dad, and Emma packs her bags.

Of course, I will give away no spoilers. This story is at times hilarious, at other turns, heartbreaking. Emma and Charlie’s banter is phenomenal. Their relationship develops in ways I didn’t see coming. Charlie has secrets of his own, and Emma is really good for him. Emma’s family is a group of people you wished lived next door. I adored her Dad. Her family story is incredible too. This book has all of the hallmarks of a brilliant Katherine Center novel. You will fall in love, cry, laugh hysterically, and then laugh until you cry. But in the end, she gives you a metaphorical hug and makes you grateful you had this story in your life.

I only have one criticism. It is the exact same criticism I give all of her books. I now have to endure the wait for her next book.

Katherine Center is simply this best and this book was a top book of the year for me. I loved it and read it in a day. Emma gets an opportunity to rewrite a screenplay with her idol Charlie. Its a romantic comedy and he hates all things rom-com. But of course, not all is what it seems. Center does an incredible job of building complex characters you want to root for, and creates a warmth that makes you never want to stop reading. This is excellent. No notes.

What can I say about Katherine Center? She is amazing! When I learn she has a new book out, I find myself smiling and itching to get my hands on it.
The Rom-Commers did not disappoint. Do grumpy and sunshine go together? They do in this book. Charlie is the grump and Emma is pure sunshine. Emma and Charlie are put together to write a Rom-Com. The banter between them was so great that it had me laughing out loud a few times. This might be my favorite Katherine Center book yet.

Amazing!! It was very cute and innocent. I LOVED the ending! Charlie is such a great character and I loved his evolution throughout the story. Such a touching story. Center does it again and I loved it!

Gahhh, Katherine Center does it again and in a big way. I just loved The Rom-Commers! It’s a story of true sacrificial love, and loving through loss, but also laugh-out-loud funny.

Emma Wheeler is an aspiring screenwriter and a talented writer of rom-coms. She’s unfortunately placed her goals on hold as she is the primary live-in caretaker for her dad, who suffers from Ménière’s disease. Her high school best friend, and publicist, approaches her to help Charlie Yates (the famous Charlie Yates AKA screenwriter she admires most and overall GOAT) to re-write his most recent project, a rom-com. Her younger sister immediately sweeps in and takes the care taking reigns, and she and her father encourage Emma to head to LA to work with Charlie. Emma quickly realizes that her friend only asked for help with the script without Charlie’s knowledge. Emma is happy and bubbly and infatuated with the idea of love and Charlie is grumpy and cynical and definitely does not believe in love. Will they be able to work together and re-write Charlie’s script without breaking the rules of rom-coms?

I devoured this one. The Rom-Commers is fun, comical, and heartwarming. I’ve read most of Katherine Center’s novels but this was one of my favorites to date. Emma and Charlie couldn’t be more different and yet they are perfect together.

The Rom-Commers is out on June 11, 2024 and you’re going to want to have it on your summer reading list.

ALL the stars!! Katherine Center is the absolute Queen of Rom-Coms and the Rom-Commers was another gleaming example! Quite possibly my favorite KC read thus far.

I loved this one so damn much! It is was one of my most anticipated releases of 2024 and I already cannot wait to reread with the audiobook! I laughed, I cried, and I swooned so hard. I seriously could not get enough of Charlie and Emma. They were beautiful, goofy, and their struggles felt so real and relatable. I could survive forever off the banter alone between these two. 😆 Although I couldn’t control myself whatsoever while reading, I did NOT want this book to ever end.

Reading a KC book always feels like the biggest hug. You get the best characters, the best stories, and the most amazing HEA’s. I thought I might break my iPad I was smiling and squeezing it so hard when I finished reading. SO GOOD!! 😍
