I love Katherine Center! She features characters of varying abilities and personalities and they are so relatable. Her love stories are not dark, but are simultaneously realistic. As a Texas, I also appreciate that her books either take place in Texas or have Texan protagonists. The Rom-Commers is another hit by Center and I can't wait to see what she does next.
This book is a master class in contemporary romance. If you’re looking for a realistic emotional journey with great characters, a lot of heart and a happy ending, pick this up. My favorite Katherine Center novel to date.
The perfect rom-com about rom-coms!
I love Katherine Center’s writing. You can always count on her for a cute, light hearted read. This one was no different. Definitely recommend if you appreciate a rom-com or are looking for a palate cleanser.
Here's the thing. Katherine Center can do no wrong. She writes romances that I have no choice but to devour in a day, and The Rom-Commers was no different. I loved the characters, I loved the banter, I loved that I could go into the book knowing it would be sweet without being too spicy. Everything about this book left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside, and I've already recommended it to 3 people. It's just that good. This book is for fans of grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, and movie-screen romances.
Thank you St. Martin's Press for a copy of The Rom-Commers!
“The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center is a delightful read for anyone who craves a heartwarming, humorous, and hopeful romance that will leave them smiling, laughing, and believing in the transformative power of love and happy endings.”
The Rom-Commers is a classic grumpy-sunshine, Katherine Center book (if you know, you know). It is quite formulaic but dependable aka you know what you will get. A sweet read, perfect for fans of closed-door romances (like me!).
It did take me a while to warm up to the characters, especially Charlie, as he was painted heavily as an a$$hole and there wasn’t enough redeeming qualities for me to find him charming lol.
It was cute. Great banter. Solid 3 stars!
4.5/5
This was such a fun, binge able read! Charlie was so frustratingly lovable. This felt like a true rom-com in the best ways. The only reason I took off half a star was for the few times Emma broke the fourth wall and addressed the audience directly. It just felt unnecessary and didn’t fully make sense to me.
I love a Katherine Center book. This one was charming, funny, and enjoyable. Just like her others. And of course a happy ending which is always nice. Katherine never disappoints with her rom-coms.
LOVED LOVED LOVED!!! I eat up anything Katherine Center puts out and this one was no exception. I loved the premise and seeing them evolve from a majorly grumpy MMC to a swoon worthy MMC was chefs kiss.
I think that Katherine Center has a knack for writing very real characters.
And I LOVE that! I want to leave a book feeling like I just left my best friends.
I loved this book! This was such a lovely feel good book!
The Rom-Commers is a fun and light read. If you are a fan of Center’s previous books, I recommend. As a fan of Rom-coms, it was fun reading about a main character who wrote them.
I've never meet a a Katherine Center book that I didn't like I know that they are going to keep me laughing from page one until the end. That being said that while I loved The Rom-Commer's it wasn't a favorite. While I loved the heroine and liked the hero and loved the banter the ended felt a little rushed. And the sister's relationship was hard to read at times. I this one was the one book of hers that hit a little to close to home for my likening, in the sense that Emma's family looked a little to like my own even down to what Emma's sister said to her towards the end of the book. However, it was still an enjoyable book and I'm glad I read it. I just don't think it would be a reread. But I'm still looking forward to Emma's next book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
This was my favorite book of the month. Thank you so much for the early release. I loved it and need it for my shelves now. (And all other books by this author)
This wasn't my favorite Katherine Center book, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The main characters were cute and their relationship was fun. I will continue to read books by this author.
Another absolute hit by Katherine Center! She could write a new adaptation of the phone book and I would eat it up… Thank you Katherine and NetGalley for the chance to arc read this fabulous novel!
I loved this book! It was a different spin on a traditional rom-com and it is one of my favorites of the year that I have read. I am always thrilled with Katherine Center comes out with a new book.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book! I am a huge fan of Katherine Centers book and this one did not disappoint. Loved how well all of the characters were developed and the banter between the main characters. As in all of her books, she did a great job expressing the relationships and emotional connections between characters. Thanks again!
My new favorite Katherine Center book! Couldn’t put it down even though it was midnight :) Already looking forward to the next one.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press got the ARC copy of this book.
I have to say I really enjoyed this Romantic Comedy. It was full of fun, lots of laugh, and a beautiful love story. Both of the main characters were so easy to love, making it incredibly difficult to put down. This story touches on tough topics/situations that are very real. It made the story that much easier to love. I feel like this is a love story that fits any season. This story makes me eager to read other works by this author. Pick up this story. You will not regret it!
Let me start off by saying that this review is not typical for my reviews on Katherine Center books. For some reason, the rom commers just didn't do it for me. The trauma drama and unlikeable characters were too much for me. I wanted a fun, light summer rom-com read, but I felt this one was too in your face drama and honest meanness going on.
This missed the mark for me and it absolutely pains me to say it. I LOVE Katherine Center! She is an auto buy author for me! So not liking this book was so disappointing for me. Especially when just about EVERYONE has been ranting and raving nonstop about it since it came out. I finished this before pub day and it’s taken me this long to figure out the words to say to describe my disappointment. I did not like the characters. Neither Emma nor Charlie. ESPECIALLY Charlie Yates! Definitely one of the worst MMC’s I’ve ever read. Ugh I couldn’t stand him! He was such a D*#k! Emma? If she was a good character then that would have made up a little bit from what this book lost from Charlie, but she was horrible too. I would have thrown hands if my sister talked to me like she did! Damn sure not apologize to her! Like wtf!? I really don’t have much else to say. I will definitely but Center’s next book but I did not buy this one. Even with the pink sprayed edges, it was a hard no.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from NetGalley. This review is honest, unbiased and completely my own.
