Katherine Center is such a gem, her writing always brings me joy! I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, energizing romance read that conveyed truths about love.

A famous screenwriter has written a rom com that is absolutely horrible. A Texas writer becomes the key to making that rom-com come alive while documenting and proving how rom-coms actually can work and be successful. Their experience is funny, sad and feels real.

I absolutely loved this story! Katherine just knows how to help us feel what the characters are experiencing. She took two writers from different genres and made them come together for a unique and very cool story. I enjoyed these characters and could feel and imagine what they were going through. It was a great read! Four stars for this very enjoyable read!

The Rom-Commers is an entertaining and endearing novel about two writers whose paths cross unexpectedly. Emma is a writer, but due to family issues, she has largely had to put her writing on the back burner until the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself to work with a famous screenwriter, Charlie Yates. Will the two be able to successfully work together to create a screenplay one of them really cares about and the other doesn’t?

As usual, Katherine Center has created two characters you can’t help but root for during their time together. This is a nice light hearted romance for the summer!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

I have a love/like relationship with Katherine Center. Some of her books are so amazing that I would read them twice and then some fall a little short. The newer ones have been so good to me whereas some of the older books she has written aren't that entertaining. I have never given her less than 3 stars though. Until today...

I was so excited to read The Rom-Commers and so excited that NetGalley chose me to read it. However, this book didn't hit the mark. Even though it is her newest book, it read like it was one of her older ones, with very shallow, unlikable characters and not really having a plot line. This was another book where they LITERALLY just met and he is super duper famous and she is super duper not and she just starts living in his house on a whim and then they are all over each other EVEN THOUGH they just met and he is incredibly famous. Just saying, if I was incredibly famous, I would not let someone I just met come and live in my house for no other reason than I feel bad. Even if it's for the plot.

I got about halfway through before I couldn't do it anymore. I thought about saying "I didn't like it but you may" and "I still recommend this book" but I think once you get that far into a book and have to put it down, that means it's bad, it's not just you as the reader. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Katherine Center’s books always give me all the happy feels, and the Rom-Commers did not disappoint! This was definitely a romance that I was rooting for. The characters were relatable and the plot captures your attention. Did I mention it was also funny? Love a good Katherine Center book and cannot wait for the next. Definitely pick this up if you need a good rom-com read!

My Thoughts:
This was such a cozy, swoony romantic comedy. Our FMC, Emma, is an amateur screen play writer who has been putting her career on hold while taking care of her father. Her agent ends up landing her a job writing with a successful and famous screen play writer, Charlie, in LA. After much reluctance, Emma decides to pack her bags, leave her father in the hands of her younger sister, and take the job of her dreams. Except when she gets there, she realizes that Charlie doesn't really want her help, but they are forced together to write anyways. I really loved Emma and her family's dynamics. Her father was such a bundle of joy and I can see why she was so devoted to taking care of him. Charlie, on the other hand, made me so frustrated and angry at times. I really disliked him at the start of the story but started to understand and like him more towards the end. Definitely a quick, fun romance read.

i do fear katherine center ate quite hard w this one...i loved the hollywood vibes of this and how they were still contained within the house and each other. katherine center has a knack for making every hero utterly charming and her writing so whimsical and this one is no different!

Katherine Center has another hit with The Rom-Commers! While I loved The Bodyguard, I despised Hello Stranger. The Rom-Commers features a similar dynamic to The Bodyguard or Happiness for Beginginers with a strong female lead that is clever, dependable but going through some turmoil (Hello Stranger's lead was a flighty ditz). I adored Emma and Charlie's dynamic and story and enjoyed Emma's family <3. This is perfect for fans of Book Lovers or Beach Read! I

3.5 stars. This was okay! Katherine Center is one of my favorite romance authors, but the romance in this one didn’t quite do it for me. I felt the relationship between the two characters wasn’t developed enough and left me wanting way more. The ending was still satisfying, and as always, I loved the incorporation of medical terminology. Although a bit of a miss, It was still enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what she does next!

A hilariously sad but sweet rom-com that I couldn’t enough of.
What I loved—Emma and Charlie, I laughed and cried way too much, sooo swoony, rom-coms, all the quirkiness

I loved this one from Katherine Center. She has a wonderful way of weaving humor and heartfelt moments together. I could absolutely see this being made into a movie of some kind. I mean who doesn’t love a pet guinea pig and double grand gestures? This was such a fun read that I will be recommending.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.

Emma has a complicated life, bound to her family and dreams of being a screenwriter. Literally, the dream job has dropped in her lap. Her writing hero Charlie Yates needs a re-write on a rom-com. But he's so eccentric!!!

Many thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this book! This was my first Katherine Center - how, I have no idea. If her other books are anything like Rom-commers then I will be reading all of her backlist. This was a heartwarming, enemies to friends to lovers tale of a legendary Hollywood screenwriter and his biggest fan, a budding talent who has been held back by family duty. After her families life is upended by an accident, Emma is obligated (by choice) to help raise her younger sister and care for her ailing father. 10 years has passed, and while she has passively dabbled in her passion of writing Romcoms, her ex-boyfriend turned Hollywood manager provides her with the chance of a lifetime. Re-write/co-write a Rom-com with her Idol. Of course, he has had his own challenges in the past 5 years, and has no desire to write a rom-com, let alone re-write it with a nobody.

The friendship between these two characters is heartwarming and laugh out loud funny. Both characters are grossly flawed and fully 100% redeemable. I was routing for them the whole time.

If you have not read anything by Katherine Center, I implore you to pick this one up. A perfectly bingeable summer read. Thank you St. Martin's Press for a galley of this book. I look forward to her next one as well.

The book begins as an enemy-to-lovers book. Emma has always wanted to be a screenwriter but instead is taking care of her father. Now she is given the chance to work with her favorite screen writer but it does not begin as she had hoped. After Emma’s sister comes home and takes over the care of their father she is given the chance to work with Charlie Yates who she likes, but he does not know she is coming or that she is there to help fix the horrible screenplay. He just did it because he wants to get a movie of his made. Once you get into the story you find out what Charle’s problem is and it's centered around love. The rest of the book is a back-and-forth of fun and sometimes talking about each other's past to help with moving on with the book and the future. I found this to be a good read.

It's rare I DNF a book, but this unfortunately was one of those cases. This book just was not for me, and it's all because of the male character. He just was not likeable. He was offensive and condescending, and I just couldn't get over that. But Katherine Center is such a good author, I suggest you please read the book and decide for your self.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I loved this book! Just devoured it. I couldn’t put it down it was so good.

If you love a good rom-com you need to pick this one up. It was easy to read and I read it faster than I anticipated.

“Two screen writers who write a script together, fall wildly in love.”…But there’s so much more to it.

I’ve only read one other book by Katherine and I can’t wait to read all her others!

Go get yourself this book right now, or be sure to add it to your TBR!!

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for a DRC. The Rom-Commers is available now.

If you love good banter this one is definitely for you! I always enjoy a good chuckle when I read any book and when it comes from back and forth banter between two potential love interests….all the better. Katherine Center never disappoints with her words and writing romance ABOUT romance seems to be her specialty! If you are looking for a super spicy rom com this is not that, but a fun and unique love story it definitely is.

Emma Wheeler, an aspiring screenwriter, moves to L.A. for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with her idol, Charlie Yates, who despises romantic comedies and collaboration, forcing her to fight for her dreams and the value of love stories while navigating an unexpected romance.

This was my first Katherine Center book but it will certainly not be my last. The Rom-Commers is the story of Emma and Charlie. Emma is an aspiring Nora Ephron and Charlie is a famous screenwriter himself. When Emma gets the chance to work with Charlie, she jumps at the chance, leaving her home for LA. Quickly Emma realizes there might be a reason why they say never to meet your heroes.

Fun, sweet, and light-hearted, The Rom-Commers is a perfect read for rom-com lovers everywhere.

I have always enjoyed Katherine Center's books. It is not just about romance but more about people getting to know each other and people growing. She also always brings in teaching/learning due to different health conditions in her books.

I liked Charlie and Nora. They both had a lot of hard personal things happen in their lives. Nora is sunshine despite all that has happened and having to give up her dreams to take care of her father. Charlie is the kind of grump who has been beaten down, which is why he is as grumpy as he is. They fit each other so well. I love that they both realized that they deserved to be happy.

My biggest issue with the book was at the end with Nora's sister. I feel like the blame was too heavy and that Nora should have been more apologetic when she discovered what really happened.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Katherine Center for the e-ARC of this book. This review is my own opinion.
