Thank you to Netgalley, MacMillan & the author for an advanced copy of this book. This book was given in exchange for a review but these are all my own honest opinions.

I have been a nora fan for going on two decades & she very rarely disappoints with her novels. She never fails to put heart into her characters. They are real, they have stories, loves, tragedies & growth.

Thea suffered such a traumatic loss and Nora really captures what it is to grieve for lost loved ones and how life keeps going while you process it. Thea is lucky to have her grammie & her brother, and that they stuck together instead of letting grief drive a wedge between them.

The psychic part of this story made for a very interesting read and once again, made Thea very relatable for wanting to be normal and wanting to fit in. It was heavily focused on her gift, her development as a person. The romance was just a lucky happenstance. I loved the side characters and the levity they brought to what could have been a very dark and painful book. Nora really drives home the point that even in the midst of horror, life can and will go on. Joy can come after loss and you are never alone.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read Mind Games. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint! The characters are amazing, so strong and true. The story is brutal and beautiful. It's a story of loss and pain but also incredible kindnesses and deep love. Mind Games will grab you from the first chapter. You won't be able to put this book down.

Heart-wrenching and engrossing.

On what should have been a joyful summer vacation with Grammy in Appalachia, Twelve-year-old Thea and her younger brother, Rem, suffer the devastating loss of their parents at the hands of a psychopath.
Thea and her Grammy (to a lesser degree) have the rare ability to 'see' into the minds of others, and on this fateful night they bear witness to their loved one's murders. Thea can recall enough to allow authorities to capture the killer, Riggs, and send him to prison for life. But it doesn't end there.
Over the next several years, Thea grows and pursues her passion for creating video games. Complex worlds that she will use to break the evil Riggs, who shares her gift and wants her to pay for taking away his freedom.
It's a game only one of them can live through.
This book had me crying more than once. I ached for Thea and her family, and prayed someone would shove a shiv in Riggs's gut. But it was the inner strength Thea had to face the devil in his den that made this a five-star read for me- so good!

Thanks to the publisher, NetGalley, and the author for this enthralling story. Highly recommended.

I don't always enjoy Nora's paranormal stories. But I was pleasantly pleased with this one. It was full of close family and friends. Warm connections and lots of love. I like that a young crush is revisited. Yes there is the paranormal and dreams that are awful. Yes there is murder and mayhem. Mixed all together the book was one I could not put down. I actually liked the story.

Mind Games took me on a winding trail through the connected minds of two psychics, one of them a murderer. It's a unique story, a coming-of-age story, a love story, and a psychic mystery. I loved the family dynamics with the grandmother, Thea, and her brother. I enjoyed the relationship between her love interest and his precocious son. Just a well-woven tale with a lot of surprises and a rambling pace. Loved it. I want more of Thea.

A Nora Roberts book, this is the highlight of my year!

Mind games is a captivating tell of a young girl who grows into a smart, strong, and brave young woman. I loved that the heroine was a sword packing game designer. NR has a history for creating strong unique FMCs, but Thea was different in more ways than one. She was a nice combination of heart and strength.

The bond between Lucy, Rem, and Thea was powerful, just as you would assume for a family that has faced something so tragic together. Lucy was inspirational and laid the groundwork for the story to develop in the way it did. Thea was able to be the woman she was because of having a Grammie like Lucy.

The love interest was surprising! I did not see it being who it was, but I should have considering Thea unique talents. My guess she knew all along without realizing what it actually meant.

While I devoured this book like all her books, for the reasons clearly listed above. The setting is what did me in from the beginning. The story takes place in a small backwoods town in Eastern Kentucky. The kicker for me is Red Bud is located just a hair over an hour away from where I was born and raised. The description of the people, their characteristics, their beliefs, the way they came together to support Lucy, Thea and Rem during that horrific night and the rest of their lives. It reminded me of home and I was so proud and honored to have Nora Roberts represent it so well in this book. 🩵

Thank you so much to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Nora Roberts for allowing me to review what I am certain is my new favorite Nora Robert’s book. This will for sure be my favorite book of 2024. I loved every bit of this book. I enjoyed the various timelines in the main character’s life and I thought it all flowed seamlessly together. I especially loved the romance aspect and the ending was just perfect! Nora Roberts is a master at her craft and I can’t wait to read more from her! Thank you so very much for allowing me to read and review this masterpiece! I highly recommend this book to everyone!

4.5 stars rounded to 5!

Wow, this book was amazing! Nora Roberts really hit it out of the park on this one. It was unlike anything I have read in a while. It did start a bit slow for me but it really picked up and once it did I couldn't put the book down. I really liked all the characters in the book and really connected with them except Ray Riggs. He was just terrible and vicious. This book had a little bit of romance, suspense, and thrills which really worked. Nora's writing style really draws you into the book and this book is no exception. Another aspect of the book I really liked is the timeline. We get a glimpse of everyone at the beginning of the book when everyone is younger, then get to see their lives over 15 years later and everything in between. Overall, I would highly recommend this book. You won't regret it!

Mind Games starts off with Thea and her brother Rem going to their grandma's house in Eastern Kentucky for part of their summer. It's their favorite 2 weeks of the year. Their parents dropped them off and went back home to Virginia. One night, Thea see's her parents get murderer in their home. Her grandma Lucy saw something like that too. It appears they both have this gift. Both Thea and Rem will be staying in Kentucky with their grandma where they will live now. Thea was able to use her gift to put the man that killer her parents in prison but she finds out quickly that he has the same gift as her. He had been using it for bad things. The rest of the book explores their connection that Thea desperately wants to sever. Thea also meets Tyler and his son Bray along the way which changed her life for the better.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book was good!

It was slow to start but once it got going I was really interested in it and didn’t want to put the book down. It’s a similar vibe to Carolina Moon. If you have read that book and liked it. You’ll really like this book.

The characters are great and you root for Thea, Rem, and Grandma Lucy the whole book. I want a grandma like grandma Lucy!

Definitely worth the read!

5 🌟 for Mind Games!
When a book makes you feel ALL the feels the way 'Mind Games' does, you know you're in for a wild ride! Gripping! Compelling! A rollar coaster of emotions and action packed in with a beautifully build world that draws you into the heart of this family. I had a driving NEED to find out what happens next! I've always loved the work Nora Roberts puts our and this book is no exception! This time she brought us to my own backyard of Kentucky and that just enhanced my enjoyment factor! A must read for romantic suspense lovers with a plot twist I was NOT expecting but completely appreciated!

Another gripping read by Nora Roberts! This one had parts that made me very sad, very anxious, and very happy for the main characters. I started out resenting the parts including video game creation, because I don’t play video games and didn’t want to take it up. I still won’t, but it worked in this story. I will encourage readers to keep reading. The clairvoyance of two characters is what made me anxious. It’s rare that my dreams are fed by what I read, but I woke up very uneasy after reading this! From beginning to end, a winner. Some individual sections were masterfully drawn to pull the reader right in. I think our Nora Roberts fans will be pleased with it.

This is the best book I’ve read in a long, long while. It’s given me a massive book hangover. It hasn’t left me. The book shredded my heart a few times. The villain is despicable. We follow Thea from being a 12 year old and having her parents brutally murdered, to a 28 year old who is an amazing person. There are so many wonderful characters. This book is soaked in turbulent emotions. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow!!! This book was amazing! The story begins when Thea, a 12 year old girl with a gift that helps her see into the minds of others, is spending the summer with her brother, Rem, and her Grammie, Lucy (who also has the gift). Thea sees something terrible happen to her parents and she wants to do everything she can to catch the man that is responsible.
The whole story is a work of art. There's a little mystery, a little thriller, some romance, and even some magic that will keep you hooked from the first chapter. I loved seeing the characters grow throughout the story and I loved seeing Thea do so much with her gift. This book is an absolute gem and I highly recommend you read it. Just do it!

Love, loss, and a psychic connection with a killer. These are the tenants of Thea Fox’s life from the age of 12 when her parents are killed and she sees it all. Not in person. Thea’s thousands of miles away for her yearly vacation with her grandmother. But in her mind. She watches as her parents are brutally murdered. From that moment on she has a psychic connection with their killer and, because of that, is able to identify him.

In prison for life, the killer now taunts Thea in her mind, playing twisted games with her until she learns how to block him. She grows up, graduates college, and even helps the police solve a few cases with her talent. Along the way she finds a love that promises to be everlasting.

But the killer is never far from her mind.

I hate spoilers so I won’t give any. Suffice it to say there is an epic battle that ends the book – and, in true NR style – it’s a whopper!

Like any Nora Roberts book, this one is more than a simple story. It’s everything a story should be and much more.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martin’s press for a sneak peek. I adored this story and wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Suspenseful and intriguing are the words that come to mind for Nora Roberts new book. I loved the characters and the love of family. Hard at times to swallow the words of the villain - the cat and mouse games of the mind games. But they make for a good story. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

I’ve been a huge Nora Roberts fan for years and this book did not disappoint. While is deals with a some different situations than I’ve come to expect, it was great. We follow the characters through more than a decade of life. We see them through highs and desperate lows as the years flow by. It’s a long book but somehow still leaves you wanting more. Great story. Great characters. Great spin on a coming of age/family drama/ love story.

I’m not sure what Nora Roberts book this is for me, but I love that after all these years, her stories still surprise and engage me and don’t feel like a retread of her previous work. The only downside is that if you start it, it’s extremely hard to put down and not just stay up all night reading.
