This is the fourth book of the Brits is Manhattan series. I have read the previous books and enjoyed them and this one also did not disappoint. This is a fun forced proximity story that had me smiling and laughing along the way. Sarah's best friend is getting married, and having lost her husband, this is not an easy time for her. But she does everything she can to make this the best wedding week she can for her friend. She doesn't need a comedian like Charlie messing things up, let alone have time for the well intentioned but not welcome set ups by her friends. When they accidentally end up having too many guests and not enough rooms, Sarah is forced to stay with Charlie. The more time they spend together, they slowly begin to let their guard down, and discover that have more in common than they realized.
This was a fun and easy read with characters that were relatable and endearing. I really had a nice time reading it. Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.

Unfortunately this is a 2.5 star read rounded up to 3.

You have Charlie a cranky, smug, asshole of a comedian (not a very good one, I didn’t think he was very funny)
And then Sarah who has some trauma of her own being a widow not wanting to let anyone in. And projecting on others.

This was a forced proximity: one bed scenario. They seem to hate each other, hate the situation they’re in. Trying to just get through their time for the wedding and avoid each other.

They get together finally very very big slow burn there. But it almost comes out of the blue? I didn’t really feel the passion unfortunately. This book fell flat for me. And wasn’t my favourite.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this in advanced in exchange for my honest opinion.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this one. I thought both main characters were written in a sort of childish way and I didn't really like them.

This is the first Laura Carter book I’ve read. It being the fourth book in the series did make me feel like I was missing some background knowledge on the world. This book was well written. It was an enjoyable opposites attract romance, it is always interesting to see how an authors meshes two different personalities, This was an easy read and very enjoyable.

Laura Carter does not disappoint. Another great read from this author. Might be a bit predictable but what’s wrong with that- it works.. I loved it.

It‘s okay but I did have a lot problems to finish it on time.

Cute story
Cute characters

I expected a bit more tensions and drama, haha

I love all the characters here. Charlie is great and can see parts of Sarah that no one else sees. Sarah has this need to help her friends in everything and everyone loves her. Her friends are so protective of her and its the sweetest thing ever. It made no sense to me that they both had to share a room when Cady was also single and they could have shared the room while Charlie took the smaller one. Nonetheless it made for a good story where they start feeling all those wonderful romantic vibes that go around in a wedding. I find Sarah's grief so heartbreaking and her reluctance to move on is explained beautifully. While Sarah is American I found that some of the mannerisms were off.

Not a big fan of this book and I couldn’t get myself fully into it. I think I enjoyed the idea and the blurb of the book than the actual story.

The Brits In Manhattan is one of my favourite Romance series, I love they are all based around a different couple and their story but all the couples are connected in some way and it's build great friendships/relationships throughout the series. If you like a hilarious heartwarming romcom, characters with great chemistry then this series is perfect I cant recommend it enough.

Honestly I wanted to dnf at 5% and I genuinely wish I had because it just got worse and worse. I lasted until 13% before realizing that it just wasn’t worth the pain and discomfort to keep going. To put it plainly, it was offensive and poorly written.

At a whopping 5% we are introduced to our male MC (Charlie) and I almost quit the book after one sentence. Who in their right mind uses the term “moobs” as a self-descriptor? Followed by a comparison of his comedy act to the human gestation period? Hard pass.
Then we get to his actual comedy act for Jake’s stag night and honestly the comedy wasn’t funny AT ALL. Charlie blames it on Americans not getting British humor but… if it’s not funny then it’s just not funny. The joke about the harem and the Me Too “apocalypse” was so UN-funny I thought I must be missing something and I reread it only to discover that it was, in fact, meant to be a joke… If you ask me, this book is a joke.

Once Charlie and Sarah meet, it just keeps snowballing into toxicity. Charlie is an asshole and then wonders why she’s mad at him? Because you’re a horrible person.

And who tf writes the line saying that a character “looks like a puppy has just taken a dump in her mouth.” EXCUSE ME WHAT? Immediately stopped reading. I am unable to even try to keep going after this.

Overall, the writing was bad, it was inconsistent, and the characters (Charlie) were appalling.

I didn't care for this book much. I found the characters a bit bland and boring and wasn't able to connect with them so it was a bit difficult to read this. I felt bored throughout most of the book and couldn't bring myself to root for the characters or their romance.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I personally found the book to be a bit boring. It definitely struggled to get off the ground, and the background on every single other character and the inner monologue felt a bit like the start of a high school movie. "And that's Brian Chad, the HOTTEST guy in school..." Overall I just wasn't able to get very into it, and found myself skimming too much.

I’m not going to lie, I almost DNF’d this book within the first 10% just because I didn’t like Charlie’s POV. He eventually grew on me though and I was glad I continued this book.

I felt like the author did a good job of giving us a good, strong build up of a romance but I felt very let down by the ending. There was so much angst and unrequited feelings and I was expecting a much bigger “I love you” scene than we got at the end. It was very underwhelming.

But, I liked the rest of the book with Charlie and Sarah’s journey of overcoming their hardships and insecurities and finding their way to each other.

I also had no issue reading this when I haven’t read the books of the other couples.

Charlie is a comedian and Sarah is a widower. they meet at the wedding when friends try to set them up. But they don't hit it off right away. They find themselves spending a lot more time together, they they wanted, and soon sparks start to fly.

It's a cure story, but I had trouble with the writing style, it wasn't my cup of tea.

Weddings are always hard for Sarah after she lost her husband way too soon, but she tries not to show it as she plans the perfect London wedding for yet another of her friends. British comedian Charlie uses humor to hide the pain of his childhood in the foster system. He's well aware that most Americans don't get British comedy, but still can't understand why the wedding planner seems to hate him from the beginning. And as the only singles left in wedding party, these two are constantly thrown together in one awkward encounter after another. They are total opposites, so why are they so drawn to each other?
This is like a guided tour through London as two frenemies navigate their slow burn attraction. Despite losing her husband, I hated the way Sarah treated Charlie through most of the book. Even at the end I found myself thinking he could do so much better. She should have been the one groveling in my opinion! The banter between friends, the fun setting, the great humor, and Charlie's character were what kept me reading to the end despite my dislike of Sarah.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Always the Bridesmaid is the fourth in Laura Carters’ Brits in Manhattan series and this book focuses on Sarah. Sarah has signed off love since her husband was killed in a motorcycle accident, so her role in her best friends wedding is simply to organise everything and stay busy enough to not think about the last wedding she attended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enter Charlie, a happy go lucky comedian who from the outset ends up on Sarah’s wrong side. While they both manage to rub each other up the wrong way, their forced proximity before the wedding has them opening up to each other in ways that Sarah never imagined.

I really loved this story and although I got a bit frustrated with Sarah at times I really liked how as a reader we got the whole group dynamic with the wedding and then got more with just Sarah and Charlie.

I would definitely recommend this one and this series to anyone who loves an enemies to lovers romance!

Thank you to Laura Carter, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Always the Bridesmaid is the fourth book in a series but can be read as a standalone. You can definitely tell that it’s the fourth book in the series based on the couples’ situations though.
Sarah is definitely a people pleaser when it comes to this vacation/wedding in London.
Charlie is a friend of the wedding couple and has to pick Sarah up from the airport. These two definitely do not hit it off in the beginning. She’s thinks he’s rude and a little crude.
He’s a comedian though even though Sarah doesn’t think he’s funny until she sees his first show.
These two had an odd relationship/friendship in the beginning and Sarahs past was keeping her from moving forward.
He falls first, forced proximity, enemies to lovers whirlwind of a romance with ghosts from the past.
