Review for 'Death At Paradise Park' by Ross Greenwood.

This is the second book I have read by this author. It is also the second book in the 'DS Ashley Knight' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read book one in this series 'Death On Cromer Beach' and would highly recommend it!

This novel consists of 101 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

Well, well, well Wow!!! Yet another absolute cracker of a book from this amazing author!!! This book sucked me straight in from beginning to the explosive ending. It was very well written with excellent evocative descriptions which put me straight into the storyline. The blog and the cover suited the book perfectly.

This is an absolutely fantastic page turning addition to this addictive series by the extremely talented Ross. Ross's fantastic evocative writing skills really bring the story to life. I loved the seaside atmosphere of Hunstanton , Norfolk, where Paradise Park is located, where you can hear the waves crashing and feel the wind in your hair while turning the pages. When I seen this book was written by Ross I didn't even bother looking at the synopsis until after I read it as after the first book in this amazing series I already knew I just had to read this book when it came out!!! I absolutely LOVED the first book and I must admit I am always wary when I love a book so much and have my doubts that the second and further books could be just as good but I am pleased (for once) that I was proven completely wrong (don't tell my partner!) by Ross and he had managed to make an ever more amazing read although I have no idea how that was possible!! In this book Alfie Hook is having his supper of fish and chips when it turns out to be his last meal! DS Ashley Knight and her team are called in to investigate. When they discover who Ashley is married to and then another killing happens at the same camp site things to downhill even more and the race is on to find the killer before they end up with another victim. The storyline is complex, intriguing and addictive and will keep you guessing throughout!!

The storyline is addictive and filled with suspense, tension, mystery and everything you could ask for in a fantastic page turner!! I loved all the twists and turns and throughout it kept me guessing what was going on and who was doing what. I would NEVER have guessed at the ending so a MASSIVE WELL DONE to Ross. I have read many thrillers and it's getting harder and harder for me to be surprised so great job there. I loved the storyline and just loved everything about it. It was all done perfectly!! An absolutely addictive page turner that kept my heart in my throat on the edge of the seat and absolutely absorbed me. The fact there were so many different red herrings, twists, shocks and possibilities that all would have worked perfectly I could not put this book down!!! I was so invested in the storyline that I was up until 2am!! I would LOVE to see this turned into a movie!!! I cannot wait to get stuck in to the next book in this absolutely addictive series!!

Although this is the second book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without reading the first book. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

THE characters were fantastic, solid and completely believable and I loved meeting Ashley and her team again. They have very quickly become fast favourites of mine and like friends that I look forward to meet in each new book and miss in between. The main protagonist is Ashley who I really connected with from the start of book one 'Death On Cromer Beach'. My heart went out to her with everything she was going and had gone through. Ashley has had some traumatic experiences in her past, keeps her feelings locked up, is lonely and has had her own personal struggles to deal with. However, this does not stop her and I absolutely love her sarcastic, kick butt attitude and found her to be an absolutely amazing strong female lead which is always a bonus for me being female myself. I absolutely loved getting to know her more in this book as well as her team and seeing how each of her team members worked individually and together. Ashley is a great person to lead a team and I loved watching her work with DC Hector Fade and some of their interactions had me laughing out loud, along with many interactions between Ashley and other team members and other characters between each other. I find it is important in any police procedural or murder to have some laughter between to lighten up the atmosphere and Ross did an ABSOLUTELY fantastic job doing this especially with Forensic pathologist Michelle Ma Yun's gallows humour!!

Ashley is an intriguing and complex character and I have enjoyed meeting her again and getting to know more about her and cannot wait to meet her again!!! There was a great eclectic mix of characters from good to bad which always helps to liven the storyline up. They all had such different and strong personalities and all suited the storyline perfectly.. There were such a mix of personalities and its hard really to say too much about any of them without giving too much away!!! Regardless of whether you liked, loved or disliked any of the characters they all work perfectly together to bring this story to life. I cannot wait to meet Ashley and more characters in the next book in this series!!

I absolutely love Ross Greenwood books and he is by far one of my favourite authors. I am gutted to say that I’ve really struggled with this series. While I really like the main characters I feel the storyline is too complex with far too much going. It is so confusing with too many names and people dropped into the mix. It also seems to drag on unnecessarily. If I didn’t know it was written by this author I’d never have guessed as it is nowhere near the standard of his other work. I don’t think I will be continuing with the series.

I am a huge fan of Ross Greenwood's work and have been for a while now. I just love the way in which he writes such gritty and gripping stories. Ross's latest book is called 'Death At Paradise Park' and it is the second book in the series featuring Detective Sergeant Ashley Knight. I couldn't wait to dive in and so I settled down for what proved to be an intriguing afternoon of reading. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Death At Paradise Park' but more about that in a bint.

The fact that I saw Ross's name on the cover of a book that I knew I hadn't read yet was enough to grab my attention and draw me in. I started reading the story and I soon realised two things - firstly that I was in for a treat and secondly that I wouldn't be doing anything other than reading for the rest of the day because I wouldn't be able to put the book down. I was spot on with both predictions. I picked the book up only intending to read a couple of chapters but I was blown away by the story and by the characters and I was still sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. By this point I had formed my own suspicions as to what was going to happen and how the story was going to develop. I knew that I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered off in the opposite direction. My book wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it went everywhere with me. I just couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. I was so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I didn't realise just how quickly the time was passing and the speed with which the pages were turning. All too quickly I reached the end of 'Death At Paradise Park'. I found 'Death At Paradise Park' to be a gritty, gripping and at times rather tense story, which certainly kept me guessing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

'Death At Paradise Park' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Ross Greenwood. Ross certainly knows how to grab the reader's attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story and then some. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fairly fast pace throughout. The story is told using a dual timeline - one timeline narrates events as they happen in the present day with the other timeline narrating events as they happened in the past. The timelines interlink really well and the story flows seamlessly as a result. Ross certainly cares about his characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which he describes them. He makes the characters seem just as real as you and I. I also loved the way that this story contained a nod to characters from the series featuring Detective Inspector Barton. I love the way in which Ross makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That's how I felt anyway.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Death At Paradise Park' and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Ross's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

DS Ashley Knight is back and the lovely Norfolk setting is plagued with murder yet again.  Alfie Hook meets and untimely death after being stabbed while enjoying some fish and chips near the Paradise Caravan Park, Ashley along with her 'fast-tracked' young police constable, Hector Fade soon discover that Alfie is connected to an ex-criminal who has been released, so they think it will be a relatively case easy to solve. That is until a second murder which takes place at the Paradise Caravan Park throws a spanner in the case - they are seemingly two unconnected murders that just coincidentally happened so close together, but Ash and her MIT team must discover the connection quick before the body count continues to rising.

Ashley Knight, as deputy SIO under DCI Kettle, from Norfolk’s MIT, together with the very effective team of DS Bhavini Kotecha and DCs Hector Fade, Barry Hooper, Jan Pedersen, Emma Stones and Sal Freitas, investigates the murder of Alfie Hook, found stabbed in his works van in a chip shop car park in the seaside town of Hunstanton. Alfie is well known to the police, being the husband of a woman who has recently been released from prison. They have to wonder if his death is connected to his family and the bigger criminals they associated with. The man’s last movements take them to Paradise Leisure Park where they soon discover a second body at one of the exclusive lodges. Could one of the other inhabitants hold the key to both deaths? And without evidence and a firm motive, can the detectives move fast enough to prevent more deaths to come?
There were some great additional characters in this story, such as Hans and Helga, and Verne and Bertie, who brought a little humour into a tale of chilling and very clinical murders. Hector is really proving his worth and the whole team work very well together, as well as being good friends and offering much needed support to each other. The plot is very twisty and produced a multitude of very plausible suspects in an engrossing and complex storyline. I very much enjoyed this second outing for Ashley Knight and I am definitely looking forward to more stories in the series.

The second in the DS Ashley Knight series, Death at Paradise Park is a thrilling continuance to the series.

It's a fast paced, page turning police procedural and it was brilliant to be back in the company of Knight and her team. She's definitely a character that I can see myself becoming emotionally invested in as the series furthers.

With twists and turns aplenty, suspense by the bucket load and a killer at large, what's not to like?

Highly entertaining, enjoyable and another five star win for Greenwood.

Set in the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Hunstanton this book evoked many fond memories. The storyline is clever with several seemingly unrelated murders in a holiday park and a murderer determined to evade justice, the ending was a complete surprise! Thoroughly enjoyable.

The second book in this police procedural series turned out to be almost as engaging and engrossing as the first one "Death on Cromer Beach". This is a police procedural crime series that I intend to follow.

Once again DS Ashley Knight finds herself leading a murder investigation with the assistance of her 'fast-tracked' young police constable, Hector Fade. I very much enjoyed how their relationship developed over the course of the two books. Ashley finds herself confiding in the young policeman which proves therapeutic for her. Their banter and jibing adding greatly to my enjoyment of the novel. The rest of the Ashley's MIT team included DC Barry Hooper (who is attracted to Ashley), and the newly pregnant DS Bhavini. Even the peripheral characters in the book were interesting to get to know, however slightly.

DS Ashley Knight was an intelligent, lonely, and quite damaged protagonist. She has had a lot of 'life lessons' that have caused her to be empathetic to others. She is in her forties and single.

The setting, the Hunstanton area in Norfolk, England was well described and atmospheric. It proved challenging for the police team as it was some distance from their offices and required them to spend a lot of valuable time driving back and forth.

The homicide investigation takes up just two months after the last book, and is a challenging one for the team. Bodies keep turning up... Secrets and lies abound among the residents. Why would someone be killing the middle-aged residents of a caravan park? The manner in which the victims were killed was varied, and looked to be expertly executed. They suspect an assassin. But what could the motive possibly be?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of this novel, but I thought that the second half was a tad convoluted. Despite many suspenseful moments, it just seemed overly long...

With strong characterization, this book should appeal to many fans of the genre. All in all, "Death at Paradise Park" was a very enjoyable police procedural and I look forward to further books in this series. Recommended!

EXCERPT: Cursing, Alfie moved the container of food off his stomach to the passenger seat. If there was one thing he hated, it was an interruption to his eating.
Moving swiftly, the person scraped their coat as they slid between Alfie's wing mirror and the back fence to reach his window. They materialised beside him. Alfie's eyes widened as he recognised them. Without a pause, they climbed up onto the van step, so they were at eye level.

Not all is as it should be in Paradise. In fact, it seems that if you reside in Paradise Park, you're likely to wind up dead before your allotted time. Unfortunately, the author gets carried away and there are bodies behind every door. It was all just too much and, although I finished this book, it was quite OTT and I didn't enjoy it, and that's a first for me with Ross Greenwood's books. Usually I love them.

Death at Paradise Park is far-fetched and far too busy to the extent it becomes confusing. It's not well-balanced and the dialogue was often wooden and unrealistic.

If I had been given this book with all references to the author blanked out, I never would have guessed it was written by Ross Greenwood.

Very disappointing. This is a series I won't be continuing with.

THE AUTHOR: I was born in 1973 in Peterborough and lived there until I was 20, attending The King's School in the city. I then began a rather nomadic existence, living and working all over the country and various parts of the world.

I found myself returning to Peterborough many times over the years, usually when things had gone wrong. It was on one of these occasions that I met my partner about 100 metres from my back door whilst walking a dog. Two children swiftly followed. I'm still a little stunned by the pace of it now.

A murder in Hunstanton is quickly followed by another, and the only connection is Paradise Park. DS Ashley Knight and her murder investigation team are besieged with suspects but short on evidence and motive. The complex investigation draws the reader into the story and keeps its secrets well. I like the twisty plot, the realistic police procedural and the characterisation.

Death At Paradise Park is actually book number two from the ‘DS Ashley Knight’ series of books.

This book definitely had me gripped right from the get go. As soon as i started to read it i was pulled in and from then on it just had me turning the pages faster and faster until i had finished it!!

It was an action packed story full of glorious twists that kept me on my toes right up until the very end!

I really enjoyed this book and was definitely not disappointed. The characters were ‘real’ and i loved getting to know everyone and become immersed in their story…..

Paradise Caravan Park - not all that well named, lol. Ashley and her team investigate a series of murders that have occurred there and the threads that connect them.

Very good storyline, and the tale drew me in and kept me reading long into the night.

After reading and loving the first book in this series I was eager to see what was next on the cards for DS Ashley Knight and her team. When a local man is found dead in his van behind a fish and chip shop, well, it does sort of look like it is going to be a case that is not going to throw up too many surprises. Well, that is what I initially thought, but the author took such an amazing and complex route to get from the beginning to the end. I should mention I did not read the synopsis for this book before requesting it.

It starts with one body that then leads the team to Paradise Park, a holiday complex that houses tourists as well as more long-term guests and owners, with lodges and all the things you would expect of a site of this sort. The thing you don't expect is a second body at the park or what follows...

Along with Ashley, you will get to meet the rest of her team. There is a good mix and there is already a good sense of camaraderie. Even Hector, the newbie is getting to find his feet. With such a complex case on their hands, it is a case of all hands to battle stations as such. With so many things to deal with and the bodies mounting up you would think the team would have more to go on. The links they have are tenuous and this makes for excellent reading. There wasn't a point in the story where I thought I actually knew who did what. I am wondering if the author was the same as he wrote I and if he was following the characters. It is a complex caseload for the team, but I have to say the author did an amazing job keeping it easy to follow.

There is quite a few characters in this story but they soon become memorable, some have more of a part to play than others, but they all have something to input. This made for an intriguing story and one that felt tense throughout.

This is a fabulous second book in the series and it is one I would definitely recommend to fans of police procedurals, crime and thriller reads.

Death at Paradise Park follows the same team of detectives from Death on Cromer Beach as they investigate more murders but this time, at a caravan park. The setting was interesting as it was set in a diamond class caravan park where the residents were quite unusual. The team begin to investigate a murder which happened near to the caravan park but with no leads, the killer goes back for more.

The plot was well planned and it was written extremely well. There was so many parts to this book and it all had a good pace to it, the twists were also placed well in the book. I couldn’t even begin to guess what happened and who was involved. The ending was shocking and the build up towards the end was exciting to read. The book had many layers and I could feel the emotions from the characters. The book was gripping from the start and I was so eager to read more and more.

The characters were well developed in the story and I enjoyed learning more about the police team after meeting them in the first book. Some characters were very quirky and mysterious, this made the guessing game for me worse as I was suspecting nearly everyone throughout the book. This book was definitely a page turner and the suspense got intense when certain characters true colours begun to show.

I am very excited for the next booking the series and I am intrigued to figure out how the stories are going to be interlinked. I will always recommend books written by Ross Greenwood,I have enjoyed every one that I have read.

Between all the people that have been killed? Lots of suspects i enjoyed this addition to the series, there were lots of twists and i didnt know how it would end, highley recommend

I'm really enjoying this series. I do like the team Ashley Hector Barry Bhavini Michelle Joan Sal Arthur Emma and Jan. Twisty and gripping. I didn't see that coming. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.

Although it is the second book in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. The book is a slow burn with no discernible motive or suspects. I’ll be honest, it felt like the author couldn’t decide who he wanted to be the killer for about 80% of the book and then realized it was probably time to wrap it up and then a lot of stuff happens in a very short amount of time. I did like the setting of being in a caravan park in the UK. When I think of the UK my first thought isn’t about it being a big place for camping, so it was interesting choice. Overall it was a decent read.

This is the second book in the Norfolk Murder series and DS Ashley Knight and her team have a busy time as soon after a murder is reported behind the chip shop in Hunstanton another body is found in a hot tub at Paradise Park caravan park. There is lots going on in this book with twists and turns galore. It is a fast paced read that keeps you gripped from the start. I look forward to seeing what happens with Ashley and her team next.

This is a nice little page-turner with lots of red herrings and mysteries abounding. The characters abound at the trailer park in question, and then their additional family members that tie in add to a bounty of suspects for each murder that occurs. It's an interesting mix with a likable detector squad, that can't get a grip on one murder before another occurs. As they start to hone in on a suspect, they realize, they don't really know what they think they know, and the story takes a new twist. You'll be eating late into the night on this one! Don't miss this new title that is released today!

Death in Paradise Park was my first book by Ross Greenwood. I didn’t realize this was a book in a series. I had a hard time following all of the characters and the unfamiliar English words to the point that I simply gave up and just read to finish the book. I realize that I am one of a very few who didn’t rate the book highly.
