I am enjoying this series of books. A well written storyline with great characters. I look forward to reading more in this series
This is book number 3 in the series. This book grabbed me from the very first page. I simply couldnt put it down. I love a female detective story and loved how we got a look into her personal life as well.
Another brilliant book in the Lexi Bennett series by Alison Belsham. I loved reading the previous books and hope there will be more in this series. Loved the storyline and I was engrossed from beginning to end. It kept me guessing right until the end. Couldn’t put it down.
I really enjoyed The Innocent Angels by Alison Belsham. It had an engaging plot and believable characters. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Such a thrilling read, I couldn't put it down. The twists kept me guessing and left me breathless. A fantastic book
This is a twisty little mystery that keeps you guessing right till the very end.
The 3rd and hopefully not last book in the DI Lexie Bennett series. Young women are being murdered, their infants left with their mothers. Can Lexie solve the case before another child loses their mom.
#TheInnocentAngels #NetGalley This is the third in the Lexi Bennett series. I have not read the first two but I don't think it mattered. A gripping thriller with lots of action that kept me turning the pages. I did guess the identity of the culprit early on but it didn't stop me enjoying the book.
Another extensive case for Lexi Bennett!
This book is full of twists and turns... Just when you think you've sussed it, you probably haven't!
Once you start you definitely won't be able to put this down. I loved the vineyard setting which brough something a bit more unique to a serial killer thriller.
I have now read all of Alison's books to date and they are just amazing. So well written.
This was my first Lexi Bennett book and I'm just as impressed as I was with the other series from Alison Belsham (Sullivan & Mullins). The author is fantastic at keeping the anxiety level up (in a good way) and I was on the edge of my seat. I absolutely love Alison's writing style, and she's one of my favorite thriller/detective story authors. She's on my auto-buy list.
The Innocent Angels is a powerful detective story with ritualistic crimes and many suspects who all keep dark secrets. Lexi is a dedicated detective and a believable character. I like the differing points of view that give the reader an omnipotent view of events, the characterisation and the atmospheric ethos.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
"The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness."
This was a good police procedural thriller with lots of twists and turns along the way. The plot was intriguing, and I was invested enough to make me keep on reading. I liked the different POVs and I'm always into having a POV from the villain as it makes for a much more interesting read. I liked that we got to see the killer's childhood history because it really helped the reader get a better insight into their mind.
However, they were two things that bothered me with this read.
The first being the FMC, I had problems connecting with her. The second being how obvious it was who the killer was. I had the book figured out at around the 75% mark which isn't bad, but it completely took away from the shock value for me.
Overall, it was a good read, and I also liked the ending, despite the fact that I wasn't blown away. It didn't wrap up too quickly and as a reader I like seeing the detectives put the final nail in the coffin when it comes to wrapping up the case.
I give this one 3.75 stars.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Author and Bookouture for my eARC copy of this read. All opinions are 100% my own.
Wonderful. Loved, loved, loved this one. Thrilling and absolutely addictive. Love this series and this author. Do read this one. You will love it.
The third book of the Detective Lexi Bennett series "The Innocent Angels" has the Detective investigating the murder of a woman who has been left naked next to her crying baby in a dark cave of a winery. When Lexi and her team discover that there is a personal connection between the woman and the owner of the winery, the team try to ascertain who had the most to gain from the murder. But the murder of another woman within the winery, someone who has no connection with the suspects, throws a curve in the investigation. What starts as a regular whodunit becomes a convoluted mess of lies, half-truths and hidden motives, with the team trying to catch the killer before he claims another victim.
The story started off on a promising note with the murder case strange and complicated enough to hold the reader's interest. But three latter half of the story fails to live up to the expectations it created. Certain events are long and winded; particularly the fight between Lexi and the suspect in the end was too lengthy. The identity of the murderer was easily guessable; the final twist regarding the matter just doesn't land well as there is no proper lead towards it.
Overall, this is a not-so-bad police investigative thriller which doesn't reach the point of greatness.
GRIPPING police procedural thriller, well written in a great story line with lots of suspense & great characterization .Enjoyed totally & RECOMMEND the whole series. Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC in return for my honest review.
This is the 3rd instalment of the series, and I requested it as reviews said it could be stand alone, and I believe it certainly can. There were some links to the previous books, but not enough to lose me in the story.
I didn’t.figure out who the killer was which is great for me as I spend the majority if most books trying to guess!
I would definitely download the first 2 books.
First of all, I love the Lexi Bennett books. This is book 3. The first two I listened to as audiobooks and this one I read. The author does not disappoint in her third installment of the Lexi Bennett series. I truly hope she'll write more with this character. This story was interesting and kept me guessing as always. Very well written, great characters, great story with all the right twists and turns. I recommend not just this book, but the whole Lexi Bennett series! Fingers crossed that there will be more to come!
The Innocent Angels is book three of Alison Belaham’s Lexi Bennett series and I liked it a lot. Lexi is on the hunt for someone killing mothers while their babies are present. It has just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. I saw that this was the last of the series, but I’d be down to read more!
I didn't realize this was a part of a series when I requested it, but it does well as a stand alone book. A good, solid psychological thriller. 3. 5 stars rounded up to 4 because it ended well. It did drag some through the middle and just seems to go in circles for awhile. But I do recommend.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
The Innocent Angels is the 3rd book in the Detective Lexi Bennett series and it is a great series. The description to this one had me intrigued and the book did not disappoint. It was fast paced and kept me guessing right the way to the end. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
Lexi Bennett is called out to a local vineyard. In the caves below a young woman lies dead dressed in just a pair of angel's wings. A baby- also with wings sits crying beside her. This is definitely a start that keeps the reader engaged- what is behind the way she is posed? Who left her & the baby there? The vineyard owner seems only intent on getting his harvest in & nobody is particularly helpful. When another girl & child is found on the vineyard grounds Lexi is mystified. Can she catch the killer before any more bodies turn up?
This is the third in a very enjoyable series. It could be read as a standalone, but as always I think you get more out of a book where the characters have had time to develop. It was a great read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book- already looking forward to the next one!
