This is the third Lexi Bennett book I have read and the series is brilliant.
Another complex and unusual case brings Lexi and her team to a winery.
You could read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading all three in order so you learn the backstory of Lexi especially.
Detective Lexi Bennett is called to a murder scene of a dead woman the victim , and a crying baby. What follows is a protracted investigation with no real leads, more victims and no obvious evidence. A series of red herrings in the storyline attempts to distract the reader although the only person not seriously considered the perpetrator is a strong indication of involvement. Some of the bizarre actions of Lexi, the leading investigator on occasion may have been added to give a dramatic edge to the police hunt for a killer but seem ill judged , unprofessional and unlikely if we are to accept the premise she is an accomplished police officer. An ability to suspend belief and accept the actions of the protagonists leads to a cliff hanger conclusion in which the interviewers are aware any successful prosecution must be substantiated by evidence and proof of guilt. Is the leading detective determined enough to secure the facts and a confession ensuring the guilty are charged .Many thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
Well hello again DI Lexi Bennett. I was so looking forward to this author's next book in this thrilling series and finally the title popped up on my schedule. Time to sit back and enjoy, but I did not really have the time to sit back. It was more like I was glued to the edge of my seat, because this was such a roller coaster. And boy oh boy did I enjoy it!
Lexi is so determined that everything has to be put on the back burner when a new case lands on her desk. She even forgets to take good care of herself until she is forced too and she does not hesitate to put herself on the line in order to safe the victims.
One little sentence pushed me in the right direction and I thought I knew it all now. I could not have been more wrong. LOL
Great story with heartbreaking moments and filled with suspense, lies and manipulation. I loved it. 5 stars
Thank you
Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for the ARC of this book
Absolutely bloody brilliant.
This is the 3rd in the series and I just can't get enough of them - I love Lexi Bennett. Her character is so human and normal it is great. I love her team too and Ed is just so special.
The storyline was great, intriguing, edge of your seat - who was the murderer - I knew, I didn't, I guessed - rightly!
Twists, turns, a brilliant gook, that I cannot recommend highly enough.
What am I going to do now I've finished them all - I need more please Alison.
Another smashing book by Alison Belsham. I don’t know how she does it but yet another amazing intriguing gripping edge of your seat book. I love Lexi she’s one of my all time favourite book detectives. I love her little team loving getting to know more about them. The crime was actually shocking. The twists the turns the overall fantastic book everyone should read it and the rest of Alison books they will not disappoint
A complex case, with someone murdering women, and having a clear plan on how to do this, so clear that the person writes many details, plans, and feelings down. There is a vineyard in the midst of it all, and many quirky people are working there, and their relationships are quite messy at times.
Another complex case, with a few cases withing the case to be solved. I felt like this book was a bit different from the first two books in the series. This was very strongly focusing on the case, and with intense relationships between murder suspects, and Lexi did not have much time to focus on her own life, just a bit.
All-in-all a very good read!
The Innocent Angels (Detective Lexi Bennett Book 3) by Alison Belsham is such a good story. It was quite gripping and addictive. The Innocent Angels is a good serial killer thriller and hard to put down. The book is a thrilling and suspenseful roller coaster ride.
I love Lexi and her team, and I really like the author's writing style, which is engaging, with just enough details that don't bog down the story, and solid characters that you feel connected to.
A gripping story, and I look forward to more in this series.

I am really liking the Lexi Bennett series of books. I enjoyed the style of writing. A solid four star read. Great premise. Good characters. Page turner. Plenty of suspense to keep me guessing Would definitely read the next novel. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.
Thank god I got a copy of this book early because it’s been a long anticipated wait! I am truly obsessed with this book/series and the wonderful Alison! It has so much depth, anticipation and it’s impossible to put down! Lexi Bennett is my all time favourite FMC and this is by far my favourite crime series, if not all round series! These books just keep getting better and better! I honestly can’t recommend these books enough!
This is the 3rd book in the Lexi Bennett series. This book focuses on mothers and babies the mother being dressed in angel wings and unfortunely dead the baby beside her. Lexi must find out who is doing this. Lexi also has personal issues to deal with. I enjoyed this book and will read the next when it comes out. Thankyou for advanced copy.
This was a good, twisty mystery with lots of possibilities as to whom the culprit could be. I enjoyed it for the most part, although it was slightly annoying when Lexi [spoiler] right after someone tried to [spoiler]. Girl, come on! I know you're a bit distracted, but you gotta keep your head in the game.
I’d like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I was a fan of the first two books in this series so I was excited to start this one. Unfortunately, while still a good read, I had a harder time getting into this one, it didn’t really pick up for me till halfway through. All in all still a good read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
This is the third book in the Lexi Bennett
detective series, and I was very excited to
receive an ARC from Netgally. Especially
since I read the previous books and loved
them!
Detective Lexi Bennett, at her core, is an
excellent profiler who tirelessly fights for
justice on all her cases, despite any
obstacles in her way
This new case finds Lexi called to a tunnel
beneath Elvington Vineyard, where a young
mother was found dead, wearing nothing but
angel wings. Her terrified baby crying beside
her, also in wings
Was it suicide? Murder?
Alison knows how to write a story that will
pull you in from the first page. Her
characters are so well developed and
nuanced that you can't help but love and/ or
hate them.
I love how the suspect pool is so vast,
making it difficult to pin down an actual
suspect. So many are lying and hiding
secrets that I was guessing up until the end.
The Innocent Angels delivered a clever,
suspenseful, and engaging story with twists
that left my jaw gaping. I look forward to
reading more of @alisonbelsham books in
the future
Book 3 in the Lexi Bennett series is well written, perhaps a bit less enjoyable than the first two, but still a very good read. The plotting is very clever and the developing characterisation is good. I especially like Ed and I hope we see more of him in future books. I failed to like any of the characters and I did guess the killer, but it's still a very good series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
Book 3 in the series….. This book…wow! A dark and disturbing thriller that had me desperate to read just one more chapter. A cast of shady characters, a gripping story, everything I want from a book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Detective Lexi Bennett does not give up on her cases no matter what obstacles are thrown in her way. In this 3rd book in the series she is called to a disturbing scene at a winery.
A young woman's dead body, naked except for a pair of Angel Wings and her baby crying beside her. Is it murder or suicide, ritualistic or folklore? At each turn there appear to be suspects galore, Lexi and her team have to work hard and dig deep to solve this case.
This series is really growing on me, in each book we see a little more of the characters. From the first to last page the tension did not let up. A great read
Im grateful to have received this advanced copy from Netgalley and Bookouture with no obligation to leave my review
I really like this series, but I have to say this one didn’t do it for me as much as the first two. It just didn’t have the same pizzazz. With that being said though, it was still a good story. Most of the characters in this story were absolutely terrible people, and it was great to see them get their just desserts. I also love the friendship that has formed between Lexi and Ed. I hope that he makes more of an appearance in future stories, especially considering how this one went for Ed. The series is overall is fantastic and I look forward to the next one!
Huge thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
WOW What a gripping book this was to read even after i had worked out who the killer was.Lexi Bennett is back and into another horrid case that pulls at the heart but as we know Lexi never gives up she is a fighter for the victim/victims.Alison Belsham writes such gripping books and I do love a leading woman 5*
Iam a big fan of this series and book did not disappoint... Lexi has just finished her Marathon run when tom gets the call that a woman has been found murdered at the wine yard vinery. When Lexi gets there, they find that the woman's baby was buy her alive, but both were dressed in angel wings. but this case is so complicated.as everyone there is lying. And then another woman is found dead on the property. Lexi and her team have to connect all the dots to who the murderer is before they kill again a very addictive read.
A body of a young mother was found in the tunnel beneath Elvington vineyard, her terrified child beside her in the dark. Both are wearing Angel wings.
Detective Lexi Bennett is called to the scene and realises there are many suspects, as it is harvesting season. But who would want to see this young woman dead? The owner of the vineyard claims to be the father of the child.
A few days later, a second woman is found dead in the vineyard, and her baby is crawling close by, both are wearing Angel wings.
These seem like sacrifices, and Lexi has to find the murderer before there is another death.
This book is so well written! The police investigation, the many suspects, the motive - it all ties together in the end. I like Lexi, she is a dedicated Detective, and is not afraid to ask for help.
This was definitely an edge of the seat thriller, and I wouldn't have guessed the murderer, in fact, I was quite stunned when I found out.
I have to award 5/5 stars. Alison Belsham kept the tension going through the entire book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
