Such A Loving Couple by Hayley Smith and narrated by Candida Gubbins was an utterly compelling psychological thriller with breathtaking twists that will have you gripped from the beginning till the end. It was a book that is full of twists and turns that will have you turning pages and wanting more, especially as I did not want it to end.

I blink open my eyes, taking in bright lights and a white room. A man smiles warmly at me from the end of my bed. ‘Honey, I’ve been so worried,’ he says gently. ‘Do you remember me? I’m your husband.’ My blood runs cold. I don’t know where I am, or who I am. All I know is I’ve never seen this man before….........

This book was addictive and I loved it, it had so many twists and turns throughout that made this book a 5 star read. Superb audiobook and the narrator Candida Gubbins was excellent.

Big Thank you to Netgalley, and Bookouture audio for my Arc.

Becka has suffered an accident causing retrograde amnesia. She wakes to her perfect husband at her beside. Soon, she finds herself having strange flashbacks of a daughter and another man but who are they and who is this man who claims to be her husband?

It was hard to put this book down! I enjoyed the POV and suspense.

Hayley's books are always a great read and this one was no exception.

I've read a lot of 'woman looses memory after accident' type books, some better than others. This one was very good and at the start, reminded me a little of Before I go to Sleep by S J Watson, one of my very favourite reads.

A woman wakes up in hospital having no memory of how she got there or of her past. Freddie, the man sitting beside her, says he's her husband and will take good care of her. But can he be trusted?

Just when you think you know where this chilling read is going, the author cleverly throws in several curve balls in another direction completely. There is a sinister underlying menace throughout and this continues to build until the chapters separate into different voices. It's difficult to say more without giving anything away, suffice to say, I was hooked and couldn't stop reading.

The twists are totally unexpected and keep on coming, until you have no idea who you can trust.

If you're a fan of dark, well written domestic thrillers, make this your next read!

Thanks to author Hayley Smith, publishers Bookouture and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Love love love! I’m a huge fan of Haley Smith’s writing and her new book didn’t disappoint! Full of twists and turns!

I actually thought I had read this before and had to trawl through hundreds of previous reviews only to discover that I had in fact not read it - but had read many similar amnesia/fake husband types of books.
This however was in a league of its own! This is amnesia on steroids!! This is outrageous!! I am still shooken that all this happened in one book! Excellent writing, great suspense and a couple of good old fashioned psychopaths thrown in for good measure! It was bloody brilliant!!
And I have to LOVE a book where Karma steals the show!! If you are a woman who has ever been cheated on, lied to, deceived, or left for dead in a catastrophic flood, this is the book for you!

I am riding the amnesia train I guess, I have read several books this year with this theme suck me in each time. I have to admit this is in my top 5 fears. Becka wakes up in the hospital with no recollection of who she is or how she got there. Scarier yet is that she doesn’t recognize her husband of 20 years. Once home, things aren’t “fitting”, nothing seems familiar or right, The clothes in her closet literally don’t fit nor feel her style. The bathroom drawers are empty. Where are all of her “things”? Her husband doesn’t want her leaving the house, or talking to any of the neighbors, but why? Things are bizarre and I feel like I am spiraling right along with her. A girl shows up trying to contact her … saying Becka is her mother, but wouldn’t she remember having a child? When pieces start clicking, you’re in for a wild ride.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book was a ride. There are multiple perspectives, however they don't follow much of a pattern or create clear structure throughout the book. You've got a main character who apparently experienced an accident that has left her with severe memory loss, as well as a suspect husband, a jealous ex-friend, and an unknown man who gives the sense of deja vu. Right away, you're wondering if the main character can trust her surroundings and her super sketchy husband. This had to be the worst part for me-the superficial interactions between the supposed husband and wife and the glaring red flags that she just ignored while acclimating to her "life" she can't remember. The past and present are woven together to paint the picture of an unrequited obsession, unhappy marriage, and plenty of greed and deception. While I was able to finish this one and it kept me relatively occupied, I can't say this was a quality thriller or good writing. There were a lot of good ideas here that just weren't really put together in any clever manner. I enjoyed the ending though, and I have to admit that the author had me uneasy through the end, not knowing what I could trust, so kudos there. Thank you for this opportunity to read your book.

I liked it. Short, well written, descriptive chapters quickly pull the reader through an intriguing story of memory loss, as a result of an accident, and devious plans. I didn’t see the end coming.
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture and Hayley Smith for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC..

* ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

This author is new to me so I was quite open minded while reading the book. While I loved the plot, the story was too slow. The efforts put in by the author are visible throughout the book but the writing style in particular is not upto mark.
All in all, it was a satisfactory read but not a book I will be revisiting anytime soon.

totally unputdownable! Had me gripped throughout. Is Freddie feeding Beca a pack of lies or trying to protect her? Will her memory ever come back? Then the final twist at the end!!

This is a thriller that will keep you guessing!
This was a very hard book to put down due to the writing style and plot being amazing!!

Becka wakes up in a hospital without any memories when a man claims to be her husband. Becka tries to piece together all her memories and the story makes you feel like you’re right there with her!

In this domestic thriller, a woman turns up in hospital after a huge accident. Circumstances of the accident are unknown and Becka has no memory of anything before it. Her husband shows up and is ready to take her home. She does not know or recall anything about him because of her brain injury and he is not triggering any memories...

I thoroughly enjoyed this, with many twists and turns and surprises.

It started out with me thinking I was reading another Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson type (and essentially the subsequent copy of Before I Go To Sleep in Do You Remember? by Freida McFadden). However, this took an unexpected turn, ended up entirely different and was fantastic. It also kept me hooked and turning the pages.

As for my one star reduction, there were just a few too many parts where the author was spoon feeding (if I can call it that). That is, instead of letting the reader use their brain just a tiny bit, all the suspicions were spelled out too much. It did effect some of the intended shocking parts I think.

Would recommend this one to domestic thriller / psychological thriller fans! There's also some crime mystery as a side story. I would suggest going into this on blind.

I am grateful for my Goodreads friends who brought this title to my attention 🥰

Whoa! This book is so incredibly intense and good! It isn’t your typical story like you see on a Lifetime movie when a woman wakes up with amnesia and a man takes advantage of that. It’s so much more with an intricate story wrapped up in it.

Hayley Smith is a talent and knows what she’s doing when writing a #psychologicalthriller!

Thank you, Hayley Smith, Bookouture, Bookouture audio & netgalley for my ecopy & #audiobook! All opinions are my own.

this was a fun memory loss story! I'll be honest I had no clue where it was going to go. But the more POVs that were added to the story the more the story started to click. And it was clicking in the absolute best way! This one took so many twists I never saw coming.

This book was definitely interesting, however I did find it hard to stay engaged. There were a lot of characters and plot lines that felt revert underdeveloped. It made sense for the plot but I feel like the book was too short for such complex concepts. It was interesting and had some twists. I just wish the plot was more concrete. Bouncing between characters and point of views was very confusing and there were no time markers to establish how much time happened and when things happened.

Such a Loving Couple was my first book by Smith, and a brilliant introduction to her work.

I soon found myself addicted to the plot and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I needed to know the truth about Freddie and why he was so determined to keep a mother from her daughter.

It's moderately paced, with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, and an ending that I didn't see coming. The characters are strong, credible and this situation could well be real.

That must be so scary, waking up from a coma, forgetting part of your life and then being told that this is your husband and he's taking you home

I can always tell how much I've enjoyed a book by how quick I've read it and how much I enjoy getting to bed at night to read but #SuchALovingCouple took me alot longer than usual to read. Unfortunately I found at least the 2st half very slow going. I kept thinking that I had read it before but then remembered it was so similar to a film I had seen once.
It did speed up towards the end but not enough to make up for dragging beginning I'm afraid. Thank you for the copy #NetGalley
