Absolutely LOVED this suspenseful domestic thriller. I was engrossed from the very first page. A truly UNPUTDOWNABLE novel that had me flipping pages to get to the end! A woman wakes up after almost drowning, in the ICU. All she remembers is that her name is Becka. She doesn’t know the stranger who claims to be her husband or the life she lived. Becka grows to love her husband, but things seem to be amiss. She has dreams of another man and swears there was a car involved in her drowning, but her hubby says that just isn’t so.

Chock full of twists with a surprising ending! Does not disappoint! Great author! I don’t rate books 5 stars often, but this one definitely delivers!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture!

Freddie is the epitome of the devoted husband--searching all over the countryside for his wife when she is swept into the river due to unexpected flooding. He has the documents to prove that they are married. The beloved wife is Becka and she has a beautiful home waiting for her. How fortunate she is, right? As the days go by there are so many red flags. Becka is like the proverbial frog in the pot. What secrets is Freddie keeping from her? What about these dreams she is having that hint of other people who are close to her, but not in her new life? I quickly devoured this new thriller in just two days combining audio and digital. What really happened to Becka on the rainy night? So many surprises and quite a complicated plot that keeps the mind on alert for clues. Definitely planning to add Hayley Smith's debut title to my TBR. It sounds like quite the page turner as well.

Thank you to Bookouture for for both an audio and digital review in exchange for an honest review. Happy publication day tomorrow -- November 8!

What an adrenaline rush!
This psychological thriller is so exciting.

Becka wakes up in hospital without any memory of her life up to that point. Who is she? What has happened to her?
All she has to go on is a nightmare of water rising around her feet in a car.

Within a few days she remembers her name and the hospital staff introduce her to Freddie who has been keeping vigil by her bedside.
Becka doesn't remember him but he says he's her husband, appears devoted to her and provides the proof the hospital needs to release her.

But is Freddie the nice guy he appears? Along with Becka we discover discrepancies causing us to doubt him.
At this point I got the feeling Becka was in danger and was shouting at her to see the connections and willing her to remember her past.

Other viewpoints crop up as the book goes on but I won't tell you who because of spoilers.

Some twists I saw coming but that felt deliberate as it meant there were other shocks that completely surprised me.
The pace picked up as the story went on and the ending was just perfect.

I love the use of amnesia to provide suspense and it's done really well here.

Are all the characters and situations realistic? Possibly. Maybe not? Honestly I don't care because it was an exciting story told well where we really experience Becka's confusion.
Short chapters with a quick pace. Good luck putting this book down once you've started.

Becca has awakened in the hospital from a coma. (Or at least that's what she thinks her name is) she can't seem to remember anything. A brain injury from a drowning incident
Freddie is there waiting on her when she awakes. He is her husband and is ready to take her home. She can't remember him either. Nor does anything feel right inside the home that Freddie has taken her to that they apparently shared together before the accident
Becca still hasn't gotten her memory back. Even after talking to a neighbor, she just doesn't believe this is where she belongs

Such a loving couple was my first Hayley Smith read. I really enjoyed the multiple points of view, the short chapters, the way you are made to love a character and then later on feel that you were deceived and you don’t actually like them at all.
It really adds to the plot when authors involve the past and in this book we get a glimpse at some of the characters in high school as well as present day. I enjoyed how every character that is brought into the story added to my suspicions to help throw me off from figuring out the ending.
The descriptions of scenes were spot on and so easy to follow. I love when I can read and the book plays like a movie in my head. I could picture everything.
If you like suspense, revenge, amnesia, and flashbacks then give this book a read!
I rate it 4 stars!

Very interesting read! Keeps you guessing almost until the end. The characters were well written and had you feeling compassion or dislike for them throughout.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publishers for the ARC for my honest & mostly unfiltered review.
Well, I didn't really enjoy this book but it wasn't terrible. When I requested it, I thought I remember liking Ms. Smith's previous novel "The Perfect Girlfriend", but then I had a look back and I honestly didn't remember reading it, which is telling in itself. It's a quick read, and most readers will be engaged with the usual twists & turns, but it's pretty basic & formulaic. It actually reads just like the show, "Surface", that was on AppleTV a few months ago. Sidenote: This book is 10x better than that show, which is also telling.
So, yeah. You can read it. It's not going to change your life or anything, or contribute anything new to the genre, but it's a fine basic read. Woman wakes up in a coma with no memory of how she got there; starts to question everything, enter creepy husband and voila; you have yourself a thriller. 4/5 stars,

Hayley Smith writes such unique books. Her first psychological thriller was nothing what I expected and this one was just as surprising. The first bit of this book feels like a familiar “oh she lost her memory and is forgetting an important bad thing her husband did” kind of book. It’s so much more. It quickly gets so twisted and hard to put down. I love her fresh take on the lost memory storyline. I can’t wait until her next book!! Thank you to NetGalley and bookouture for my advanced copy!

Thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture and Hayley Smith for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Such A Loving Couple, to be published 8 November 2023. 4/5 stars for this intriguing domestic thriller. It was pretty intense, especially at the end. I enjoyed the different take on the relationships and the fact that this novel was unique in the way it started out, then progressed over time from a simple amnesia case to mistrust to a hostage situation. Great read. #NetGalley #Bookouture #HayleySmith #SuchALovingCouple

Omg omg omg!! So I felt this was a bit of a slow burn and the 1st third dragged a bit for me but omg, once you get onto the 2nd and 3rd parts of the story..... amazing! So many twists and turns. The tension is build so well and I had no idea what was going to happen next. Thr characters are well developed and realistic and the scene is set so vividly that you could be sitting in the hospital with the characters! Clever, intense, and with some amazing twists

When Rebecca opens her eyes she cannot even recall the name for a walkie-talkie so when the man in her hospital Ron introduces his self as her husband says don’t you remember me I’m Fred she takes his word for it after all why would he lie? Not to mention she even feels comfortable with him and attracted to him but as time goes on and she settles into this new but unfamiliar life. Everything is fine and she seems to trust Fred but will eventually find things that cause her to question what Fred has told her but it will be when she hears a girl yell mommy across the street that her memory slowly but surely comes back and the facts of Rebecca‘s life are totally different from the fairytale of Freds. This was such an Uber awesome awesome book! I never read past the first couple of sentences in a book summary so to say this book totally caught me off guard is totally understanding it this was an awesome book and after I finished reading it I am mediately went and download her other book and cannot wait to read that one. I will definitely be on the lookout for books By haley Smith. I want to thank Boldwood Books and Net Galley for my free Ark copy please forgive any mistakes I am blind and dictate my review.

Such A Loving Couple by Hayley Smith is a compelling read that kept me guessing from the word go. Just when you think you have it all sussed out, the author cunningly throws you off kilter with a twist that will have you questioning all of your instincts.

Becka wakes in hospital following an accident with no memory of what has happened, nor even of her own identity. A man, Freddie, has been by her side through it all, and is accepted by the hospital staff as her husband, though Becka has no recollection of their life together. As she struggles to regain her memory and slot the puzzle pieces of her past into place, discoveries made will have her questioning just who she really was before her accident, and where she truly belongs.

Told from multiple POVs, this one kept me guessing for the duration, and held me rapt from beginning to end. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
