When Becca wakes up to bright lights and a white room, she learns that she has been in a coma in the hospital. Becca doesn't remember anything—not even her own name. The nurses tell her that her husband, Freddie, hasn't left her beside since her accident a few days ago, and how lucky she is to have him by her side. Becca leaves the hospital with Freddie and goes home to a beautiful house, fancy kitchen, and manicured yard. At first, they seem like the perfect couple. But deep down, Becca knows that something isn't right. As flashes of Becca's memories slowly come back, dark secrets will be revealed.
Full of unexpected and shocking twists, this book was utterly unputdownable. I was completely absorbed in the plot and absolutely devoured this book. The story is told from three points of view in a nonlinear timeline. With each change of perspective, I thought I had it all figured out. Spoiler alert: I had not figured it out. This book was a wild ride from start to finish. An excellent psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end!
Thank you to Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.
It felt painful to try being in Becka's shoes. At first, I thought everything was perfect for her even if she lost her memory. But soon, small details start to surface. And nothing seems quite what it seems to be. And the last twist, whaaaat. Well, let's say that I'm happy all turned out well for that one character. It's the second book I read from this author and it's even better than the first I read !
The twists never stopped with this one...It was divine!
I read the entire book in one sitting, and that rarely happens for me.
It is absolutely un-put-downable, and I devoured every page quickly to learn what would come next.
Until the very last page, I didn't see where all the twists were going.
There were moments when I thought I had things all figured out, then there would be an entirely new line of narrative that took us a completely different route and SMACK us with another total shocker!
This domestic thriller is an exhilarating read, it was easy to get into it right from the start, and it kept me enthralled the entire time. Not your typical thriller, and for that, I am so thankful! Very well done!
Thank you, NetGalley ARCs for letting me read and review this before it's publishing date; I know so many are going to love this one!
Thank you for the arc from Netgalley.
This was an addictive story that I read in a day. It kept you guessing up until the end. I liked the story line about the main character having memory loss and guessing if she was crazy or kidnapped. 5 stars!
I absolutely loved Hayley Smith's first book, The Perfect Girlfriend, so I was super excited to discover that she had a second book being published. Such A Loving Couple is another fabulous read. It starts off with a popular trope - a woman has been in an accident and has lost her memory - so I was concerned that the storyline might be too similar to other things I've read. However, Smith takes it in a new and different direction. It's done really well with lots of thrills, mystery and craziness. The first person narration is shared by several characters which allows the reader to share in their confusion, anxiety, fears, hopes and passions. I truly enjoy Smith's writing style and the way she describes her characters, feelings and scenery. And just when you think you've made it through all the twists and turns, the reader is left with another surprise at the end. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this enjoyable eARC.
This is a tough one to review. I loved the premise of the book. The beginning had my attention, but not enough to just keep reading and reading in long sittings. The middle of the book was rather long, but it did set the back story of information that we needed. But since it wasn't so intriguing to keep me reading and reading I was tending to get confused while reading it. By the end it all pulled together and it did make sense, so I was thankful for that. Plus a twisty makes you think at the end. I will definitely continue to seek out this authors books. Thank you for the opportunity to read this one. #SuchALovingCouple #NetGalley #amnesia #braininjury
This book opens with Becka. She wakes up after a tragic accident and then is rushed to the hospital. When she finally wakes up she has her husband Freddie by her side. Problem is she doesn’t remember him. Once ready she is taken to her mansion and hidden away for healing purposes according to Eddie. But things don’t feel right and Becka has flashbacks of what happened to her on the night of the accident and a little girl she doesn’t remember. What is going on? Is Freddie the doting husband? There are a few more characters that unfold in the story. The plot was slow throughout the last section but the ending was satisfying in the end.
I loved The Perfect Girlfriend by Hayley Smith and Such a Loving Couple was excellent too! This story explores what could happen if your suffered amnesia and then slowly, your memory started to return and the life you thought you knew wasn’t quite how it seemed to be, A gripping page turner that held my attention from beginning to end. 5 stars!
Author Hayley Smith wastes no time drawing us immediately in to the conflict of 'Such a Loving Couple', a domestic psychological thriller. Becka is in the hospital following a terrible accident and facing the terrifying reality that she doesn't know herself...or the man named Freddie who is caring for her. But he's kind, and thoughtful... and handsome. Knowing she can't trust herself, Becka forces herself to believe that the things around her really are as good as they seem. As her strength and connection with Freddie grows, Becka's memories-- and past relationships-- begin to be revealed. Following more twists and shocking turns, we are left to question reality alongside Becka, leaving us wondering if history is better left in the past.
'Such a Loving Couple', the second book by Hayley Smith, was a suspenseful and creative thriller with a classic unreliable narrator. The writing is quick but thorough and kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting to know more. Even though the book is set in three sections with various narrators, the author does a great job of connecting the relationships and history, which allows us as readers to focus (with bated breath) on the story and mystery. In the end, the terrifying pieces come together-- albeit a little rushed and slightly over-dramatically-- and leave us asking ourselves, can anything really be trusted?
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC of 'Such a Loving Couple' by Hayley Smith
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of Such a Loving Couple. Awesome Book!!!! Becka went through sooooo much with men but what a Great story. Really nasty men characters, they were creeps. A fast read and the cover definitely caught my eye, perfect colors. Definitely worth the read.
Very clever and intriguing plot. . Hard to put down. Will look out for more books from this author. Thanks for the early access.
First off, thank you Bookouture for allowing me to read this ARC story.
This book was wonderful! I love a book with a good amount of deceit and this doesn’t disappoint.
Freddie, Mags, Toby, Becka, they’re all wackos but in such a great way.
I felt the parts leading up to the ending were a little rushed but then the ending came. What a complete mind twist.
Was she evil too? Did they all deserve what happened?
Overall, this was a reallly good book with a lot of twists. I also enjoyed how it focused on multiple people. It wasn’t just Becka’s story. You’ll definitely have to put this on your TBR.
This is one fast paced dark and twisted thrillers that you binge read. Seriously, just sit back and enjoy the crazy ride as this one unfolds.
Becka wakes up in a hospital bed and struggles to remember her name. The nurses are quick to tell her how attentive her husband Freddie has been and how worried he has been about her. She doesn't remember him or anything about her life. She is nervous to leave hospital with him.
Once she gets home she feels like this isn't right and that Freddie is hiding something from her.
This captured me in the first pages and I couldn't flip the pages fast enough to see how it was all going to unfold. Karma gets you in the end.
I blink open my eyes, taking in bright lights and a white room. A man smiles warmly at me from the end of my bed. ‘Honey, I’ve been so worried,’ he says gently. ‘Do you remember me? I’m your husband.’ My blood runs cold. I don’t know where I am, or who I am. All I know is I’ve never seen this man before…
This is a story that I've seen before but it was really well-written and suspenseful, so I didn't mind.
Becka wakes up in a hospital bed, barely able to remember her name, suffering amnesia after an accident. Her doting husband is by her side, and after a while, she returns home. As snippets of her memory starts coming back to her, things don’t quite seem right… is her marriage really as perfect as her husband is making it out to be?
Told from multiple points of view, Such A Loving Couple is a fast paced psychological thriller that will have you gripped from the start. What a page turner, I absolutely devoured this in just two sittings!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my advanced copy.
Such A Loving Couple by Hayley Smith is a psychological thriller with some good twists. This is the second psychological thriller by this author, and I hope it is not the last.
The storyline is kind of spooky to wake up with no memory and be told that the person next to you is your husband. The author unraveled this intense story with solid twists and suspense. The author's writing style was engaging, and the plot made sense. You get drawn into the story from page one, and the characters are well-written and complex.

I absolutely loved this book! I was drawn in to this book from the first page and read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down!
Let me tell you , this book will keep you on the edge of your seat! Drama , suspense, murder! It combines everything you would expect in a good thriller!
Love how the author combined the storyline from each character’s point of view and how each character developed through the story!
Thriller lovers this one is DEFINITELY for you!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC! It was absolute pleasure to read this book!
I really enjoyed this book and absolutely flew through it - The story begins with Becka who wakes up in hospital with no memory of the accident with put her there, but with husband Freddie by her side to look after her Becka returns to her home. After a time Becka starts to feel that something is fundamentally wrong and following her instincts and chats with the neighbour across the road she starts to put things together. I am not saying any more as it will spoil the story but wow, what a twisty page-turner.
I cannot recommend this highly enough.
This book of mystery and intrigue moves quickly. Characters are realistic. Secrets and red herrings. This talented author has written a page turner. The main character interacts with others in a way which adds to the intrigue. Thanks Netgalley.
Imagine waking up in a strange room. Ok, that scary, but not remembering anything at all anymore, it must feel like you have ended up in a horror movie. Add to that a man you don't know, claiming to be your husband and ready to take you home as soon as you are allowed, ... Does he mean well or is he some kind of weirdo?
What to do though? Trying to make the best of it and hoping you can reclaim your life as soon as possible.
The more time goes by, the more you are convinced that some things don't add up and the more the readers is getting confused, because everything you believed up till now are poured down the drain. What is the truth and what are lies? Who is the culprit and who is the victim? Who did what to whom?
Questions, questions, questions waiting for an answer... :)
This book leads us on a very twisty and curvy road to the revelations that I never saw coming.
Great bad characters were created by the author to haunt the readers minds. 5 stars
Thank you
