Thanks to NetGalley for the arc!
This book was somewhat mixed for me, I loved it up until the ending. It did keep a fast pace and kept my interest. The book was split up into different parts that told different peoples stories, I loved the different perspectives of the same overall story! I did not feel like the ending was completely predictable, while it was easy to figure out how it would probably end, there were a few more twists that I hadn’t expected! The part I didn’t like was how it continued after the reveal, I didn’t see the point of most of what was happening then. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend!
Couldn’t put this one down! Quick and entertaining read! 4/5 stars because I felt the ending was a little rushed and honestly a little dull for all the suspense and twists during the book, I expected it to be built up a little more.
Overall, I enjoyed this one and look forward to more books from this author!
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! What a read.
Becka wakes up and Freddie, the 'perfect', husband is at her side. What follows is a twisty, heart stopping ride of pure adrenaline.
i cannot recommend this book enough.
could not put it down.
I absolutely loved this book. The book is written in 3 parts following 3 different characters, past and present. The writing was so good and so descriptive that the book came to life for me and I couldn't put it down. This is a well done psychological thriller that checked all the boxes for me.
The book begins with Becka, who has been in a near drowning accident, waking up in the hospital with no memory of her accident or life before she wakes up. I loved her character and loved the way she was portrayed. Some books just hook me and I don't want them to end. This was one of them. We follow Becka's journey to recovery and going to what her husband calls her home.
Too much more explaining will give away too much of the book so I'll leave it at that. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC I highly recommend this book. I greatly appreciate the copy to read.
"Such A Loving Couple" by Hayley Smith is an intense psychological thriller following the journey of a woman suffering from amnesia after an incident. The book is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different character. The book is written in three voices, two of them in the first person and one in the third person.
The book opens with Becka, a victim of an incident. She wakes up in a hospital without any memory, any past, or any recollection of what happened before the incident. All she remembers is water and being in a car. A man named Freddie, claiming to be her husband for the last 17 years, sits by her bedside. She doesn't remember him or their life. On the surface, he seems to be the perfect husband, loving and caring, but is he who he claims to be? As flashes of memory start to come back, something seems off about the whole situation. Becka tries to piece together the dots, but it is hard to do so without a memory. The book then moves to other characters, and as the story unfolds, more and more details tantalizingly come to light.
I enjoyed the book, especially the sections with the first-person points of view. The author used such vivid descriptions that the book came to life for me. I found the exploration of the characters’ mindsets fascinating and believable. I tried to figure out what is true and what is false and came up with different speculations about it all, most of them wrong.
I liked how the three storylines looped together and complemented each other. They were well thought out and engaging. The author juggled the multiple points of view and the characters’ storylines well. The three storylines started out separately and then overlapped in interesting and surprising ways. The characterization was very good. The author dealt with the amnesia part in a very believable manner, and I could experience the situation through Becka's eyes. I liked Becka and rooted for her. I could connect with her and found myself tensing up when things would take an ominous turn.
The last section dragged a bit, but the ending more than made up for that. The author weaves an intriguing story wrapped in suspense that draws the reader in from the very beginning. The pace is just right, in most parts, and has perfectly placed breaks that allow the suspense to build up into the action. Each event was more engaging than the last, leaving the reader wanting to know more and more about Becka's story. Overall, I loved the tale and rate it 4 and a half stars, rounded up to 5 out of 5 stars. Lovers of the genre will surely enjoy the book.
* Thank you NetGalley and (publisher) for the opportunity to read this arc. All opinions are my own.
I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
Becca wakes up in the hospital not knowing who she is or what has happened. A man visits her everyday and says he’s her husband but she can’t remember him. And so she heals and goes home with him,-everything feels wonderful until little snippets of memories start returning, And the more she remembers the more possessive Freddy becomes, What doesn’t he want her to remember? Is he really her husband? Will she ever remember?
You will consume this book!
The begging was very slow and felt like it was dragging, but around the half mark it started to pick up ( thank god). Other than that it was alright, nothing too shocking
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it is an exceptional work. From the moment I started reading, I was immediately drawn into the suspenseful world of this thrilling novel. The story centers around Becka, a woman in a baffling situation after a tragic accident. She wakes up with no recollection of her identity, friends, family, or even husband.
Speaking of her husband, Freddie, he is portrayed as a devoted and caring partner who has been by Becka’s side throughout her recovery. He is determined to make her happy and help her regain her memories. However, as the plot unfolds, Becka starts to experience fragments of her past through flashbacks, photographs, dreams, and unexpected encounters with a mysterious old lady who lives next door.
Through these moments of recollection, Becka starts to sense that something is not quite right. The author skillfully keeps the readers guessing and on the edge of their seats, constantly questioning what is happening and who is being truthful. The twists and turns in the narrative captivated me from the beginning, and I found myself unable to put the book down.
As a relatively fast reader, I usually breeze through books within a few days. However, this particular novel had me hooked and completely engrossed. I was desperate to uncover the lies, the secrets, and ultimately, the story’s resolution. It was a rollercoaster of emotions as I delved deeper into the mystery, trying to piece together the puzzle alongside Becka.
The author’s ability to create suspense and maintain a sense of intrigue throughout the entire book is truly commendable. The story’s pacing was perfectly balanced, keeping me engrossed while allowing me to savor the unfolding of the plot. The characters were well-developed and complex, adding depth and layers to the narrative.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a gripping thriller with a touch of mystery. It is an enthralling read that keeps you guessing until the end. Prepare to be captivated by the author’s masterful storytelling and prepare for a thrilling journey alongside Becka as she unravels the truth about her past.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is a great book. It’s a near perfect thriller. It’s a nail biting, can’t put it down storyline. The story starts with Becca in a coma. Freddie is there for her, she recovers and returns back to her life. Or is it her life? I really wanted more from the ending but it’s still a great read.
This was my first time reading author Hayley Smith, but I hope it won't be my last. "Such A Loving Couple" was a fast and exciting read. While the amnesia/memory loss plot is something I've read many many times before, this was so different it felt new and fresh. There were quite a few twists & turns and the ending was absolutely perfect!
Wow! What a book! I couldn't read it fast enough. The tension and pace were absolute magic! Brilliantly unsettling, with characters so deftly woven that you never quite know who – if anyone – you can trust. Another riveting and powerful psychological thriller from this talented author.
There's something about the way the author writes that makes the words flow easily, and the pages turn themselves! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Such a loving couple is a page Turner that I couldn't put down, I haven't read anything by this author before so I am looking forward to reading more.
This was an excellent thriller which had me gripped throughout. It has everything I want from a thriller - exciting, fast-paced, strong characters and a fantastic ending. I really enjoyed the short chapters it made it a real page turner which I could not put down.
It starts with Becka coming out of a coma that she has been in since an accident, she can’t remember anything about the accident doesn’t know who she is, who her friends or family or husband is and how she ended up in a coma. Freddie is her husband who’s been at her bedside and seems to be completely in love with becka and wants to give her the world. After a short hospital stay he takes her home. Over time Becka starts to remember certain things through memories pictures and dreams. What happened to Becka and can she trust the man who says he loves her.
Highly recommend fantastic thriller which you will not be able to put down once you start. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
This novel was fantastic. I gave it four stars. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. This is suspenseful thriller and definitely a must read. It starts with becka who was in an accident and doesn’t know who she is, who her friends or family or husband is and how she ended up drowning. Freddie is her husband who’s been at her bedside and seems to be completely in love with becka and wants to give her the world. After a short hospital stay and some mixup with paperwork he takes her home. Things don’t always seem perfect but things feel off . Over time becka starts to remember certain things through memories pictures dreams and a little old lady next door. There were a lot of things that kept me questioning what was happening and kept me on the edge of my seat. As a somewhat fast reader I typically can read a book in a couple days one day if I really love it and this was one of those books that I had to know what happened. I had to figure out who was lying who was keeping secrets and what the ending would be. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars :I expected a little bit more of an ending and some of the characters could have been developed more. I’m also a huge romance/spicy romance girl so I would’ve like more of that but that’s just me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes thrillers or wants to read something different or try out a newer author.
I received this book as an arc from net-galley for an honest review. #net-galley
The book starts when Becka comes out of a coma that she has been in since an accident, with hardly any memory. Luckily, Freddie is there for her, and as she recovers, she tries to get back to what she thinks is her life.
This gripped me from the start.
The book was everything I wanted from a thriller - exciting, fast-paced, strong characters and a brilliant ending. I loved the short chapters. They made it a real page turner - in fact, at the end I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough! Bring on novel number three, Hayley!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoture for an advanced copy.
I really enjoyed this read. The short chapters kept me so engaged and I was desperate to figure out what was going on. I loved how the characters were slowly revealed as the book went on and that I was given just enough back story into the characters to understand what was happening but not too much that it was boring.
My only tiny negative would be that the ending felt slightly rushed, it all concluded very quickly and felt a bit unrealistic.
Thanks so much to NetGalley & Bookouture for the ARC copy, I would definitely recommend!
Such a Loving Couple is another brilliant psychological thriller from Smith.
This time a woman wakes up in the hospital with total amnesia. The nurses tell her that Freddie is her loving, devoted husband.
Why, then, does she feel like she is in the wrong life and why can't she figure it out. She feels locked in. She feels called to another life - one in which a child needs her.
It is a page turner and watching her go after the truth is terrifying.
This book kept me guessing. The twists, turns and tense atmosphere kept me gripped! Definitely recommend it.
So sad...........that i finished so quickly! I was thrilled to receive a copy after reading this author's previous book and this one did not disappoint. Brilliantly written characters and a well thought out storyline. It takes a while to understand who is who and what part they play in the story but that is not a negative. Creepy and twisty with plenty of what the hell moments.
Keep them coming Hayley Smith.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Easy five stars from me.

The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
