I thoroughly enjoyed book one of this series and found book two to just be okay but I finished it and was curious to see the completion of the series.
Unfortunately the whole book hinges on Margrete and Bash's obsessesion for each other with no additional depth to create a larger conflict against the gods. A fantasy world should build beyond the relationship to create a higher level of intrigue and suspense but this book is clearly only going to depend on Margrete being mad her boyfriend is dead so it's a no for me.
This trio had been such a journey, my emotions roller-coasting through three beautifully spun tales. This last installment I don't think could have been done any better. It's rare that a series keeps the same momentum through all the books and I think that that is a real testament to how talented of a writer that Quinn is. This book was an adventure that never let up, there were so many ups and downs, so much growth with characters I loved and new characters that I loved to hate. The world building was done well and I really enjoyed the underworld and the homes of the gods that were visited. I love the love that Margret has for Bash, literally going to hell in back with out any thought. True to her nature. I agree with the ending and I think that it was written In such a great way for there to be closure and a sense of peace when finishing. Not only allowing me to thoughtfully think of feelings but also to not cause a book hangover or sense of in completion.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
(Completely spaced on writing the review. Apologies.)
First and foremost, a big thank you to the author and NetGalley for allowing me to review this ARC with honesty.
Okay, so I'm just going to get to the point. One. I love Katherine Quinn's writing. Said it for the first two books and I'll say it now. I loved seeing a badass Marguerite and this was fun to watch the shift from something (spoiler) to something else (not saying it.) That said, Darius actually had me more than a little interested. Some stuff wasn't what I expected and that's fine, other stuff, my jaw dropped. Overall, a very fun and exciting conclusion. (Please don't leave the world behind though as I'd love to read more of the people in it.)
My Rating: 4.5 (Rounded up)
Well what an end to the trilogy! Picking up from the moment the second book left off we are headed down into hell with Margrete and the gang.
I don't want to give too many spoilers for books one and two so I will say as little as I can about the story.
This book has plenty of love, drama, angst, action, and a sprinkling of spice. If you are a Romantasy reader then you will certainly love this series! There is plenty of character growth throughout and a wealth of relationship growth too. I found the side characters are as interesting as the main characters and I have a real soft spot for Darius, who also goes on a real journey in this book and as a reader we get to follow along with that as well.
This is a book that kept my focus and became a 'couldn't put it down' type read full of twists and turns. I have really enjoyed the whole series and would love to see a spin-off with certain characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and Orion Publishing for my copy.
The Azantian trilogy is among the most romantic television shows available! Since the first Discovery book, I have read every one of them in a few of hours. It's an epic book with thrilling passages that will leave your knees weak and heart racing. The writing is exquisite.
With each of the characters in these three novels' pages, I've gone on an engrossing journey. Despite all the turns and turns I have read in the three volumes, Margete and Bash remain close friends. Their love story is captivating; it shows the incredible strength and power of love. All the pleasures are in these pages, if you appreciate ethically gray characters.
This last book in the series was so good. It really was fast paced and it ended well. This was a great conclusion to the series. I highly enjoyed this and recommend this series to all romanticy readers!
I just reviewed Crown of Salt and Bone by Katherine Quinn. #CrownofSaltandBone #NetGalley

I decided to read the entire trilogy as soon as I noticed this book was available based only on the description! Thank goodness I discovered this series at that time. Compared to the recommended fantasy books I've seen recently, it's very different. Having saying that, this trilogy deserves greater publicity! The final novel in the Azantian trilogy is Crown of Salt and Bone. The book includes Romantic Fantasy, Magic, Gods, 🏳️🌈 side characters, Mythical creatures, Secret history, and Self discovery.
It begins exactly where the second book left off. I was here to watch Margrete travel to the underworld to retrieve her boyfriend! After going through the ordeal and losing Bash, she descends into the abyss and tries all in her power to save his soul and bring him back. But in order to accomplish it, she must bargain with the god of death. To exacerbate matters by returning above and eliminating the aquatic creatures Darius fashioned? She must collaborate with Darius. the one who started this whole problem in the first place. A lot of things happen! I was sceptical, I cried, and I thought the author did a fantastic job leading this series to an amazing conclusion. I heartily thank NetGalley and City owl press for providing me the Arc of this one. It was really an awesome experience.
Katherine Quinn proves once again to have a real knack for crafting intriguing storylines with deeply complex characters that feel both wonderous and real, plus, what and amazing conclusion it was!
A huge thank you to the author for this great trilogy! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received this as an ARC and was excited to see the ending of a trilogy that will draw in the reader. I love a good anti-hero who is morally grey but redeemed. And I love a strong lead female character.
Hope to see more from this author - spin offs would be good.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this fantasy book and it was the conclusion I was hoping for from The Azantian Trilogy.
The world building was brilliant, all the loose ends were tired up and explained and that last battle was breathtaking! I was sad for the series to be over but glad that it was a really good last book!
Crown of Salt and Bone - 1.75⭐️ 3🌶️
Romantic Fantasy

Reincarnation

I wish that there had been a mini recap to kick this finale.
The premise was good, but there was so much going on, all while not moving the plot forward in a way that was exciting or unique. I found myself bored and unconcerned throughout due to inconsistent pacing.
The magic system remained vague throughout all three books. I was hoping that with the setting for a lot of this book we would get some great opportunities for magic and world building… but the potential for clarification and really honing in was a big miss. The world building only expanded because the MC’s went to a different world…
The characters were consistently lacking depth. And while the redemption arc of Darius was nice, it was annoying to have to sift through him as a distraction from the main couple… and the main couple suffered for it. Their chemistry turned stale.
Thank you NetGalley and City Owl Press for and Advance eReader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
*****5 Stars!
“I see his darkness, just as he sees mine.”
First I would like to thank Owl City Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read an arc of this wonderful book! I am honored to have been given the chance to read it and leave an honest review.
This was a wonderful ending to a truly amazing trilogy! The Azantian trilogy has been a favorite of mine since I picked up the first book, each book hooked me instantly. As usual Katherine Quinn’s books are filled with adventures and swoon-worthy romance, as well as charming pirates, sea gods and various different sea creatures lurking beneath the depths--this is the perfect book for anyone looking for an engaging fantasy with a bit of romance!
Crown of Salt and Bone was such an emotional and beautiful conclusion, unveiling different sides to various different beloved characters and really putting them up against it all. I adored seeing all the characters grow and become the people they were meant to be, the character development in this series is beyond excellent! I especially enjoyed seeing how Margrete and Bash grew together not only as people but as a couple in this story, it really showed you the strength of their bond.
Katherine Quinn also has such a way with detail; her descriptions effortlessly pull you into the depths of the story. You can almost smell the brine and hear the crashing waves, I absolutely adore her way with words! There is nothing better than feeling as if you’re experiencing the extraordinary adventures yourself as you’re reading along.
I can’t wait to read more from this author, and I do hope we can have more Darius content in the future! Reading these books were an utter delight, and if you’re looking for a swoon worthy pirate romance filled with daring adventures then this is a book I would highly recommend!
Great ending to the trilogy! Margrete and Bash journey to happiness has been hard but after everything they keep fighting for one another.
Darious wants happiness for himself but after doing it all wrong he starts to learn the meaning of true love.
Great book. Katherine Quinn is an amazing author.
This book was everything. I absolutely loved Badh and Margrete. Truly an amazing read with phenomenal characters
I am a judge fantasy fan so when I read the description of this book I couldn’t wait to read the whole series. And am I glad I did. NetGalley providing me with an e copy of the third book meant I didn’t have to wait on a cliffhanger. I would highly recommend these books if you love fantasy books. Thank you NetGalley
After the thrilling cliffhanger of the last book, I was desperate to pick up this final installment. And it did not disappoint! Full of magic and angst and a beautiful romance, it was an excellent ending to a series that I have really loved.
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
A huge thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for granting me an arc.
I was thrilled to receive the arc for the third and final book in the azantian trilogy.
When we left off Bash had been killed by Bay and Margrete turned into an immortal Goddess. In her rage she opens a portal to the Underworld and races in to save the soul of her beloved pirate.
I was not let down at all. Margrete and Bash's love is the kind we all dream of. Passionate and fiery. Even with Darius trying his hardest to make Margrete love him, she is loyal to the end. Nothing and no one will come in the way of the love she feels for Bash.
I was provided an arc from Netgalley for a honest review.
I saw this book available and by the description alone I knew I wanted to read the whole trilogy and that’s just what I did! I’m so glad I found this series when I did. It’s so much more different than the current fantasy reads I’ve seen recommended. With that being said this trilogy needs more hype! Crown of Salt and Bone is the last book in the Azantian
trilogy. It starts right off from when the second book ended. Margrete is on her way to the underworld to get her man back and I was here for it! After facing the trials and losing Bash she goes the underworld to do whatever she can to retrieve his soul and bring him back. But to do that she has to make a deal with the god of death. To go back above and kill the sea monsters Darius created and to make it worse? She has to work with Darius. The very one who caused all of this mess in the first place. So much happens! I laughed, I cried, I was suspicious and the author did such a great job bring this series to an end. Everyone add to your TBR! You won’t regret it. 😜
Thank you to City Owl Press and Katherine Quinn for letting me ARC review Crown of Salt and Bones, the final book in the Azantian trilogy.
The Azantian trilogy is one of the best romantasy series out there! I’ve devoured every book in a matter of hours since discovery book one. It’s a rollercoaster read of epic portions, full of beautiful writing and intense scenes to make your knees weak and heart flutter.
I’ve been on the journey a captivating journey with all the characters within these pages of the three books. Margete and Bash are old friends through all the twists and turns I have read across the 3 books. Their love story is enchanting – the power of love and the strength it endures is breath-taking.
If you love morally grey characters, all the goodies within these pages. I love characters who are put on cliff edges with choices for the good all or what is right for them. Difficult choices made with evocative pulls on the emotions of the read so you feel every degree of pain and strife of the characters.
No spoilers, but if you are looking for series with an ending that can hold its head up high with and still surprise you this is the one you will want to read.
