This winter I keep reading holiday romances that have been void of holiday cheer, but SNOWED IN finally delivered on the promise of a Holiday Romance!
Megan and Christian have mad chemistry from the very first scene and I loved their fake relationship turned real. Along the way there is plenty of Holiday cheer with quirky family moments, getting snowed in during a blizzard, holiday movies, and glitter!
SNOWED IN had a perfectly slow burn that I loved and really funny dialog between the lead characters. I chuckled a lot while reading this book!
I took off a star because there were too many characters in this book and it's easy to get lost (and I say that even having read the first in this series). There were both families and a group of former friends and an ex and his new fiance and her family. It was just too much.
But SNOWED IN is my best Holiday read of 2023 so far and definitely one I recommend!
If you picked up this book expecting a forced-proximity romance - based on the title - you will be disappointed. But that doesn't mean this isn't a sweet romance. Megan and Christian are a sweet couple, who grow both together and as individuals. I like a good fake dating trope, and this one was done very well.
Another amazingly funny book by Catherine Walsh!
I am a sucker for a good Catherine Walsh book. The writing was amazing, the story enticing, and the characters hysterical. The book reads like a movies. I always fly through the pages. There is never a dull moment in any of her books and Snowed In is not an exception.
Snowed In is a fake dating trope with a hint of forced proximity and 2 characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Man, do we all want a guy like Christian Fitzpatrick. A guy who pays attention to details, who wants to do the fun stuff, who compromises, and does the big gestures. We all love him and our love continues throughout the entirety of the book. Megan is just an infectious. She is described as a girl just like you and me who LOVES TO KNIT and does not want to draw attention to herself. They are perfect for each other and I love watching their relationship grow as I continued to read.
The writing was absolutely amazing, but the thing I loved most about this book was that it was real. It showed 2 people getting to know each other and then liking each other because of things the other has done. There was no sudden realization of OMG I LOVE HER I HAVE TO TELL HER ASAP. It was real, it was good, I love this book. I highly suggest this Christmas romance to anyone who wants to get in the spirit and get out of a reading slump. Fast pace and lovely the entire time!
Thank you to Catherine Walsh and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book!
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The month of November kicks off “EVERYTHING CHRISTMAS” for me….books, movies, decorations, baking, etc. I am so extremely happy to say that my first holiday book for this season was a PERFECT 5 stars! I loved it!! I absolutely adored Christian and Megan! Yes it was a predictable story…but aren’t most romcoms?! I didn’t mind at all. I caught myself smiling so much while reading this one. It definitely could be made into a Hallmark movie…but then again it was a lot more “spicy” than a Hallmark movie. The chemistry between these two characters was one of the best I’ve ever read in a romcom! I have all positive things to say about this book and highly suggest picking up a copy as it was just released on November 1st.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Forced proximity and fake dating? Count me in! I enjoyed Megan and Christian's story. Having them know each other from their home town was an interesting twist on the fake dating for the holidays idea. I loved that Megan had knitted hats for Christian's sheep as a child!
I was a bit worried because I am not always a fan of old drama in a romance but this felt more like Megan dealing with something that was overdue. I did feel like some of the characters could have been a bit more developed. I would have liked to see a bit more of Isaac and Megan's past for example.
While I enjoyed Megan and Christian I wasn't blown away by their chemistry. I was more interested in the aspects of this story that dealt with Megan's past.
After running away from her wedding a few years ago, Megan is dredding going home for the holidays for the first time since her wedding. Christian, is equally not looking forward to going home solo for christmas, the two run into each other in a pub in their town. Having grown up together/been in the same friend group in school. They hadn't seen each other since her wedding that wasn't but they end up catching up over a drink after he walks her home from the pub. She proposes they spend the holiday together with movies and take out and being to busy for their familkes. He proposes a ruse instead...go home together, madly in love.
Fake dating, holiday romance. Then getting stuck Snowed in in a cabin in the woods where they finally lean into their *very* real feelings. 🥰🥰🥰 this was such a fun read to get into the festive season. And it was so fun to have a visit from Andrew and Molly (I loved their book as well!!).
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my review!
Fake dating for the holidays is a classic setup and one that’s hard to resist – but make them childhood classmates who run into each other in a pub, her a runaway bride who hasn’t been back to her small hometown in years, him a constantly single workaholic who doesn’t want his family asking about his love life, add incredible banter, and set it in Ireland, and fake dating for the holidays gets cranked up to 11.
Though this book is very funny and filled with classic romcom tropes, the runaway bride angle brings a lot of interesting emotional depth and nuance to the story that keeps it feeling very realistic, and not too sugary-sweet.
Definitely pick this one up if you like:
🎄Christmas in Ireland
☃️complicated family dynamics
🪵cabin drama
💕top-tier banter
💋a bit of spice
I’m a sucker for great, witty banter and all things Ireland, so I really enjoyed this one – and will absolutely be checking out more of Catherine Walsh’s books.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
I am a Catherine Walsh fan and Snowed In is a continuation from her book Holiday Romance (another total gem!) Christian happens to be Andrew's brother from that book (and Molly also makes an appearance!) This story features Christian and Megan, both who are dreading going back home for the holidays. The two come up with a fake dating plan to make the holidays easier. Yes, the premise is a bit cliche', however, the execution is sweet and swoony perfection! The whole book just made me smile and my heart warm a happy glow...
5 stars
Another great novel from Catherine Walsh. It was lovely cosy Christmas read. I enjoyed the characters of Megan and Christian including all the supporting characters. It was great to catch up with Molly and Andrew from Holiday romance as well. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet with just the right amount of spice. I loved the fun family traditions that Megan and Christian's families took part in. I also loved the character growth that happened throughout the story. And of course, who doesn't love a little fake dating, forced proximity Christmas magic??
4/5 stars and definitely recommend for a great Christmas read!
Megan hasn’t been home for the holidays, in five years, not since she left Isaac at the alter and slipped out the back door of the Regency hotel on her wedding day. On the way out, she runs into Christian, the "bad boy" growing up. She forgets all about him as she begins her new life in Dublin. Now her mom is pressuring her to come home for Christmas because her brother Aiden will be home from Australia. When she runs into Christian at the local pub, spilling red wine down his shirt, they both remember that meeting and talk about going home. Christian enjoys going home for Christmas, but dislikes the pitying looks and comments from family and friends because he is still single. Even worse, his brother is going to propose to his girlfriend. They come up with a pact to get them through the holiday season-They will return home together and be the very best “fake dates” for each other, with rules and a contract. But, we all know, rules were made to be broken!
This was such a fun story. I love the fake dating trope and this was done perfectly. The banter was so entertaining and I loved their interactions. There was a lot of chemistry that they were fighting, but eventually gave in. There are a couple of steamy, open door scenes, but not too long and I was able to skim them. When Megan returns home, she is not welcomed with open arms, but doesn't defend herself. It is not until late in the story that we find out why Megan left Isaac at the alter, and I agree with her decisions. The family scenes were fun and festive and gave me that Christmasy feel. Getting snowed in was the final barrier to get past to make this fake romance a real one. This is a wonderful story that I highly recommend. I just downloaded the previous book about Christian's brother and can't wait to read his story. I highly recommend this Christmas rom-com.
Christmas came early with this gem! It’s no secret that I loved HOLIDAY ROMANCE so I was ecstatic when I heard we’d be treated to another book in this world.
SNOWED IN follows Megan, who is absolutely dreading going home for the holidays. Enter Christian, who has his own reasons for not wanting to fly solo at his family’s holiday gathering. Of course, the two decide the only solution is fake dating and I ate up every single minute of it!
No one makes me laugh like Catherine Walsh. Her books are hilarious but also heartwarming and real. This is friends to lovers perfection (and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a massive fan of the trope!). Also, this book is the first CW read that got a little spicy!
If you haven’t tried Catherine Walsh’s books yet you’re seriously missing out. You don’t need to read HOLIDAY ROMANCE first but it does follow Christian’s brother, Andrew.
If you’d like a non-seasonal recommendation, I loved THE MATCHMAKER.
Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader! All opinions are my own.
Megan O'Sullivan is building her life back up after leaving her fiancé at the altar five years ago. She's living in Dublin, enjoying her job, and trying to get back in the dating scene, when she runs into Christian Fitzpatrick, a classmate from her village, who also happens to be the one person she saw before she became the runaway bride. Christian proposes that they pretend to be dating when they go home for Christmas - for him, to get his family off his back, and for Megan, to provide a buffer since this will be her first time returning after her unsuccessful wedding. As Christian and Megan try to convince their families they are in love, the rules they've agreed to get broken and the line between real and fake starts to blur.
I absolutely loved this one! It was just so sweet and I was head over heels for Christian and how he fell first. This was just so heartwarming and the way that Megan and Christmas just GOT each other was so tender and made my heart swell. Christian is that strong support that lets Megan stands on her own two feet, which Megan brings Christian out of his shell and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. There were also so many great side characters and I'm excited to go back and read Andrew and Molly's book! This book also had some good spice (only a couple scenes, but they were well done and satisfying!) and allllll the cozy Christmas vibes.

Cat Walsh keeps writing the funniest, swooniest books ever, I’ve been anticipating this one since it was announced and it did not disappoint! I positively ADORED Christian and Megan and was so happy to catch up with Andrew and Molly my beloveds as well!! I cannot say one bad thing about this book and will forever read whatever Cat writes.
I just love this cute holiday cover. I am such a fan of the fake dating trope. I loved both their families. Megan was awesome. Christian has that bad boy feel while still being a good guy. I love him. I love their families. I cannot wait to read more by this author. This was such a sweet holiday romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
I TRULY LOVE AND ADORE CATHERINE WALSH'S BOOKS!!!!!!! Snowed In written by Catherine Walsh was honestly the cutest book I have ever read by her, hands down this was my favorite book by this author. This was the easiest five stars I have EVER given out. Christian and Megan are my newest favorite book couple. Since it doesn't really ever snow in the part of North Carolina i'm in, I was so excited to dive into this snowy beautiful book. Don't even get me started on that cover, it is absolutely gorgeous. I won't lie, this book actually broke my heart at times because of what the main characters went through with their past relationships. Snowed In was so snowy, festive, cute, and overall one of the many best books I've read this year. There's absolutely NOTHING I would change about this book, it gave me all the Christmassy vibes I could have ever asked for. The characters weren't perfect in any way, they each had their own flaws, the beautiful country of snowy Ireland just warmed my heart. Snowed In made me kick my feet up in the air so many times, I found myself giggling so much, I even found myself getting misty eyed. I can't recommend this book enough, please do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this gorgeous book immediately.
THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND BOOKOUTURE FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!!
Megan is truly dreading going home for the holidays, but her mom asked her to and her brother Aidan is coming home from Australia to spend Christmas together. Megan is the village pariah, and the she devil who left her ex fiance at the alter four years ago. Megan knew she should have canceled the wedding way before their vows were due, but she didn't, so four years ago, Megan got cold feet and booked from her wedding, honestly for the best reason. Megan's ex fiance, Isaac, annoyed me so much. This man was so controlling and wanted everything his way, so of course I cheered Megan on. As Megan returns home, she could really do without the drama and side eyes, but when Megan goes home she runs into Isaac and finds out he's engaged to someone else again. Megan could honestly go without the drama this Christmas season because Isaac is engaged to someone else, and Megan has just been dumped for the fourth time this year. I adored Megan she was literally the sweetest. After being dumped for the fourth time, Megan thought something was wrong with her because she couldn't hold a relationship down, but she put that aside and decided to focus on herself before finding someone else.
Christian is fed up being on his own every Christmas. Christian doesn't mind being alone, but he hates his family's sad puppy dog eyes and soft tones as the rest of his family sits coupled up. in Snowed In we meet Molly and Andrew from Catherine Walsh's previous book, Holiday Romance. Molly and Andrew are so cute. Christian struggles with feeling like he's always a disappointment to his father, this truly broke my heart. Four years after fleeing from her wedding, Megan and Christian bump into each other at a Dublin pub. As Megan and Christian reunite, they come up with a deal to see them through the holiday season. Megan and Christian are going to be the very best fake dates for each other, they are going to act like they are madly in love with each other just to get through Christmas. Rules are drawn up, a contract is signed literally on a wine stained napkin. When a snowed in cabin and a little Christmas magic are added to the mix, anything could happen, it could be very messy, but it could also make Christian realize he's actually in love with Megan. Christian and Megan were so adorable, I couldn't help but root for them both, they just deserve the world. The snow fight Isaac and Aidan had was truly hilarious.
Thank you @Bookouture and @netgalley for the digital ARC.
I love Catherine Walsh's writing! She knows how to write romance with plenty of humor, a true romcom author. Snowed In is a dual POV fake-dating Christmas romance. I really enjoyed reading Megan & Christian's story and their flirty banter. Christian is almost perfect and had me hooked from the beginning. They both have some issues to deal with at home and those side plots really added depth to the story. If you've read Holiday Romance, Christian is Andrew's brother. So, we also get lots of Molly & Andrew in this book. I highly recommend reading Holiday Romance & Snowed In if you like Christmas romance books that will make you laugh out loud.
Bonus: If you have KU, you can read both Holiday Romance & Snowed In.
Absolutely loved this book. super cozy and just a fun time. If you are in the mood for a funny and cozy holiday romance pick up this book today!!!
Megan is dreading going home for the holidays, especially given she hasn’t been back to her small Irish village since she left local golden boy Isaac at the altar four years ago. Christian is fed up with being on his own every Christmas, especially when he needs to deal with his family giving him sad eyes around the dinner table. When the two bump into each other (literally!) at a Dublin pub, they come up with a pact to see each other through the holiday season.
Fake dating is probably one of my favorite tropes and this book definitely hit the spot in that regard, especially given Megan and Christian's history. I also appreciated the natural progression and growth of their relationship that led up to the highly-anticipated forced proximity moment. The book tackled tough relationship topics and past relationship trauma in a delicate and informed way, displaying the complications of just up and leaving an abusive relationship.
I thought both Megan and Christian's families were so endearing and enjoyed watching the familial interactions throughout the book. That being said, Hannah's 180 turn toward Megan felt a little rushed and sudden, but I can also appreciate an overprotective sibling. Andrew and Molly's miscommunication also felt a bit silly, but it was such a minor point of the book it didn't take away from the overall storyline.
I wish we could have seen more of Zoe. She felt like a rather large character at the beginning, especially given she was one of the first side characters we are introduced to.
Despite my minor frustrations, I really enjoyed this one and recommend for a fun holiday romcom!
Thank you to NetGalley & Bookouture for this book in exchange for an honest review.
🧡 ARC REVIEW 🧡 Snowed In - Catherine Walsh | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5| 🌶
"...I want to spend next Christmas with you Megan. And everyday in between. I want to wake up knowing I'm going to see you. I want to know everything there is to know about you and I want to start right now."
- S Y N O P S I S -
Megan O'Sullivan is infamous for being the town's runaway bride. Christian Fitzpatrick is known as the moody kid at the back of the class. When these two bump into each other 5 years later at a pub in Dublin, somehow they form a contractual agreement to fake date so that their families can get off their backs during Christmas break in the village.

I loved this one!!! This was my first Catherine Walsh book and it was fantastic! I've seen my book bestie, Melanie, talking about this author quite a bit so I had to give this one a shot! Christian and Megan had such great chemistry and banter, even from the very beginning.
Such a great fake dating story. This is one of my favourite tropes because I enjoy the characters uncertainty of whether the other person feels the same way. When they're not sure what's real and what's fake. When all along...the feelings were always real?! I know, cliche, but that's why it's called a trope right? This was the quintesential fake dating Christmas romance. It was perfect, and everything I wanted it to be!
I haven't read Holiday Romance (the 1st book in the series) yet, but I know I will love it as well! I got a glimpse of Andrew & Molly in this book, and I'm excited to learn more about their love story!
Highly recommend Snowed in if you're looking for a cozy holiday read!!!
