If you're looking for a feel good fake dating holiday romance, this is it. I adored this story and the developing relationship between Christian and Megan. They had chemistry from the very beginning and the slow burn was totally worth it. I hadn't read the previous book but it's definitely on my to be read after this, and I'm glad I could easily read this without having read it as well. Thank you to the author and Bookouture for the advanced copy!
Two people who are dreading going home to their families for Christmas. You will fall in love with the main characters. It’s a lovely heartwarming story. Great for curling up with in front of the fire or a holiday read.
“I’ve been searching for something my whole life and nothing’s ever clicked. And I think it’s because I was looking for you. I’m falling in love with you. I’m falling hard and fast and I don’t want to stop."
Rating: 4.5/5
- Childhood friends to strangers to friends to lovers
- Fake dating for the holidays
- Set in small-town Ireland
- Snowed in
- No breakup
- Dual POV
Snowed In starts with Megan seeing her old school friend, Christian outside her wedding as she’s attempting to escape. Five years later, they serendipitously bump into each other (literally) at a Dublin pub.
Christian walks her home and when he realises they’ll both be heading back to their village over the holidays extremely single, he suggests a fake dating arrangement. Megan thinks he’s crazy but it doesn’t take long for him to convince her.
This book is brimming with sarcastic banter, which is 100% my cup of tea. I couldn't get enough of it. Even when he's trying to seduce her they can't help being witty with each other. Case in point: "You're wet." "We're in the water." "My mistake, I'll work harder."
I loved how Christian seemed to anticipate Megan’s needs without her saying anything. In the beginning, he was there for her as a friend, until they slowly became more. Besides their banter, their honest communication was my other favourite thing. All it took was Christian saying "No more pretending" and no breakup followed.
Add in great character development, fun family moments and some delicious snowed-in forced proximity and you have another winner from Catherine. The audiobook is also fantastic thanks to those Irish accents! I could listen to them all day!
Four years ago Megan left her fiance at the alter and now she needs to go back to the village, where her ex-fiance is now engaged again, but soon she bumps into Christian who is also in a dilemma during the holidays. Deciding they can help each other out the two fake a relationship, but it isn’t long until the two characters develop feelings for one another and maybe it’s not fake after all.
This is a great holiday romance, full of fake dating and character personal growth.
Walsh has given us a funny and entertaining read, with pages I laughed out loud to. The narrative is told through the characters of Megan as well as Christian giving us both sides to their emotional feelings towards one another.
This author is one on my go-to list and never disappoints.
I know I was a little grumpy about holiday books a while back but it was just a phase. I have read a few now and while not full out in Christmas mode, I am definitely ready for some Christmas romcoms.
This one hit the spot. It did take me a moment to warm up and love the main characters (could be me and that grumpy thing I mentioned), but I did and ended up loving this one. Megan as a run away bride and Christian as her protector. I didn’t know how much I liked the fake dating trope until last year, but I love it when it is done well and it is here.
There is some witty banter and this is my third book close together with an isolated cabin in the woods, but the use is quite different than in the other thrillers I read. There are a couple of side stories about a proposal and resolving Megan’s runaway bride slights.
While there are a couple of slightly spicy scenes, but this could really be a Hallmark movie. (but they kiss before the last page)
If you need a little romance, a laugh and some holiday spirit, you need this book!
I love a laugh-out-loud romcom. They have to be my absolute favourite kinds of stories because the banter is always top-notch. And I LOVE banter. All the banter, all the time. Yes, please!
Catherine did a perfect job with the banter and the progression of the plot. I loved every second of reading this book. So much so that I've read it twice because why the hell not?! There were the sweet moments, the moments of truth, and everything in between that makes a funny book like this really stand out. I love Megan so much, I relate to bits and pieces of her quite a bit, and that endeared her to me all the more. As for Christian, well, I need one of him, too. He's sweet and charming, and he KNOWS how to woo a gal. He's exactly what you want the rom-com hero to be.
I will not be taking questions at this time over my ABSOLUTE ADORATION of this book or the fact that I read a Christmas book before Halloween. We all need a palate cleanser, and this was the perfect book to shake off all those spooky reads!
This book was so sweet and such a cute wintery & holiday read! The plot and fake-dating trope worked so well and I adored Christian and Megan. I will say, I wish there was a little more drama (aka I love a break-up/second chance moment and there wasn’t one) but over all it was so cute! It put me in the holiday spirit for sure. I also now want a man to do a christmas movie night surprise for me, but it has to be Elf.
Megan doesn’t really want to go home for the holidays, but her brother is visiting for the first time in a while. Christian doesn’t want to go home either. But when they run into each other at a pub after not seeing each other for years, an idea starts to form. Maybe if they go home together, pretending to be a couple, then the holidays can be bearable after all.
I’ve read a few books by Catherine Walsh now. I gave last year’s Holiday Romance 4.5 stars, but funnily enough I didn’t even remember that the same characters were in this book. Oops. It’s not required to read the first book, as the two relationships are separate. But going back and reading my review of Holiday Romance, I don’t think I enjoyed this one quite as much, but it was still a really cute romance. I love a fake dating trope, and I really liked that they didn’t deny when feelings started to form, they just adjusted and went with the flow. There was some decent spice, and some funny banter that kept me rooting for Megan and Christian throughout.

I received this book from NetGalley.
Let's be honest, we all know exactly how this book is going to go, and that's one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. It was a fun, easy, holiday read. I liked the characters, all of them, which doesn't happen often.
Christian is amazing and I would have had no hesitation in pretending to be his girlfriend! Megan was a likeable character as well.
Something I really enjoyed was there wasn't some huge miscommunication that pulled them apart and then brought them back together. It was simple, feel good, and a fun read.
Thanks so much NetGalley and Bookouture.
This is a cute holiday romance where Megan and Christian dread going home for the holidays so they draw up a contract to be each other's fake partners. They get snowed in, so will Christmas work its magic?
I loved the characters. This was so funny, and Walsh is such a great writer. I will be reading more of her!
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh
I adored Holiday Romance last year and I was thrilled to see a story for Christian. This book was amazing. It was incredibly entertaining and fun. I immediately loved Christian and Megan and didn’t want to stop reading about them. I loved Megan’s storyline as she returns home after 5 years to face her ex-fiancé and ex-friends.
This is honestly an entirely perfect holiday romcom that had all the Christmas cozy vibes and a fake dating trope. Quirky side characters (really loved the parents), a snow storm, long car rides and a hot tub. This is exactly what I want in a romcom anytime of year, interesting characters and a realistic (yet fun) storyline, no miscommunications and laugh out loud moments. Highly recommend this one, along with Holiday Romance if you didn’t read it last year! These books have hilarious banter and a lot of chemistry.
Thank you to @bookouture for my early copy, I’m going to buy myself a paperback so it can join my annual holiday rereads. This one came out last week!

So much fun! I really enjoyed this book. Lighthearted and fun. A little bit of spice but not super graphic. Frequent use of mild curse words. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for a fun Christmas romance.

I’m starting early with the holiday rom coms because I just can’t wait any longer!! And SNOWED IN was the perfect one to kick off the season❄️🫶🏼This adorable book had absolutely everything I love in a seasonal romance & literally all of my favorite tropes. I was totally smitten by Christian from the start. The banter & the spark between Christian & Megan was just swoon worthy. Their families were so cute & endearing & I especially loved Mr. Fitzpatrick🥹. The author did a great job with the subplots also. Everything was tied up perfectly & ended just the way I wanted it to. I also may or may not have picked up knitting after finishing this book last night🤪I can’t wait to read Molly & Andrew’s story, Holiday Romance, next!

Catherine Walsh. You did it again. You freaking did it again. 5/5 stars.
I love Walsh’s writing. She’s funny and doesn’t need to use endless tropes to write a good story. Christian and Megan made me laugh out loud! I loved experiencing these two falling in love.
I might be biased to this book but Megan’s story was so relatable to me. I called off my engagement after countless people already booked trips to another country. Him and Isaac are very similar. The reactions were similar. I loved reading a happy ending to what felt like my life.
Snowed In is a cute, fun, wintery read, set in Ireland. I read most of the book, snuggled up in front of a wood burner, whilst Storm Ciaran was battering the UK. The snow, a cabin in the woods and festive Christmas cheer were much more fun than what was going on outside the window at home, so I imagined myself there instead.
I loved Megan and Christian, our two protagonists, who bantered their way into my heart very quickly. They were so good together, right from the beginning I knew they’d hit it off. Megan made a rapid exit from her wedding four years ago and has never been back to her home village since - until now.
Full of love, romance and family loyalties, Snowed In is a beautiful read and will leave you wanting to spend some time on Christian’s family’s farm with the newborn lambs in knitted hats!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!!! an absolutely brilliant rom com!!!… It made me laugh, cry, scream, shout, angry i thoughly enjoyed all of this book and cant wait to read more from this author.
This heartwarming holiday romcom by Catherine Walsh is filled with protective siblings, overbearing parents, gossip galore, and a small town that either frowns on you, kisses your sweet arse, or simply suffocates you with their lovey duvey sweetness.
*fake dating
*opposites attract
*set in Ireland

At a Dublin pub, Megan, the village outcast who left Isaac at the altar, reunites with Christian, an old acquaintance from her small Irish town. Both dreading the holiday season for different reasons, they decide to be each other's fake dates to avoid family drama and pressure, complete with established rules and a signed contract for their charade.
Christian's charismatic nature wins over everyone he meets, but it's his vulnerability within his family that's truly heartwarming, tugging at your emotions, especially during his moments with his father. Megan, on the other hand, grapples with concealing her true self from the judgmental town, as her family remains unaware of the real reason behind her abrupt departure from Isaac at the altar. A heart-to-heart conversation with her mother brings intense emotions to the forefront, evoking a poignant sniff sniff moment.
And the romance? It's simply chef’s kiss perfect. Catherine delivered on her promise to "amp the spice," with sizzling couple scenes that took me by surprise.
You'll adore Christian and Megan, as well as their endearing, silly siblings who are sure to bring a grin to your face.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read Catherine Walsh's Snowed In!
What a fun novel to kick off the holiday season with! Fake-dating is a trope I really seem to enjoy, and this book was no exception. I loved the romance, the comedy, the feels, the holiday warm and fuzzies!
Thank you for this advanced read, just in time for the upcoming holiday season.

The Story 📚
Megan hasn’t returned to her hometown since running away from her wedding day four years ago. But with her brother back from Australia for Christmas, she can’t put it off any longer. She’s dreading stepping foot in the town where everyone has something to say, and everybody is team ex fiancé.
Christian faces into another Christmas being alone. In a big family where everyone is loved up, he feels disconnected from them all while convincing everyone he’s grand. What exactly is his life missing?
But, when Megan and Christian bump into each other in a pub in Dublin, they decide to form an agreement - fake a relationship for the holidays. With a lot of history, big families, and a great deal of snow - things can be expected to get a little messy! But how much Christmas magic is in store for Megan and Christian?
The Review 👩🏻💻
I just adored this book!! It’s been my favourite of Cat’s so far (I’ve read The Matchmaker and Holiday Romance - so 3 out of 5 of her books!). Sometimes the auld imagination when I’m reading books is terrible. But not with Catherine’s books. The way she writes dialogue between her characters - honestly I could be watching a movie!! The Irish elements and humour just finish it off perfectly. This would be the perfect Irish version of a Hallmark Christmas movie!
Both Megan and Christian’s characters were just so lovable. I really appreciated both of their own individual stories, with some really important topics included (which I don’t want to spoil, but let’s say very related to a former social care job I had, so really welcomed the subject being covered). There was such perfect spice and genuine character building. The worst part of the book was simply the fact it ended! I would have stayed with them forever! It’s also dual POV which worked great!
If you want a fun, Christmas themed romance, I highly recommend! Would make a perfect Christmas present also! But maybe not to the mother in law, things might get awkward…
So cute!! Megan was the best! I loved how everything started with her leaving the altar, and it her hesitance to go along with Christian’s plan made everything feel more realistic. So many times the fake dating trope happens too quickly or too conveniently, but this felt just right. Loved the family and friends of both characters, definitly had some good spice, and I loved the way this wrapped up. Definitely recommend for a cute romcom holiday read!
