Let me tell you about this heartwarming, fake dating Christmas romance you NEED to put on your TBR.
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Who hasn’t dreamt of having some supportive backup during the holidays, just to get their families and the rumor mill off their backs? I know I have, and so have Megan and Christian who come up with the perfect pact: they will pretend to be dating when going home to their small town while having each other’s backs at events and family dinners. What can go wrong?
I really loved Megan and Christian’s story for a multitude of reasons. Of course, we have Catherine Walsh’s trademark humor infusing the whole book with such amazing banter it will make you grin and laugh throughout. But more importantly, I’m convinced Walsh’s superpower is to create relatable characters who fall in love in a down-to-earth manner, while transporting you to Ireland and making you privy to Irish inside jokes. And if, on top of that, you’re weak for a charming, smug and (over)confident protector with a heart of gold, Christian will have you wrapped around his finger in no time. Seriously, the man knows how to be a swoonworthy romantic! It’s unfair, we don’t have a fighting chance! Anyway, I digress.
Read if you like:
❄️ Fake dating
❄️ Banter
❄️ Brief forced proximity
❄️ Sick care
❄️ Dual POV
❄️ No second act break up (hallelujah!)
❄️ Perfect amount of hot and intimate spice
❄️ A very natural relationship progression with a realistic and relatable ending.
Holiday Romance lovers will rejoice at all the Molly and Andrew content in this one. They’re such scene thieves, but it made me so happy to read more about how they were doing. I love them so much 🥺
That said, I wish the cover and title covered the entirety of Megan and Christian’s journey, instead of focusing on the few chapters they were stuck in a cabin (or telling us they’re old friends when they just went to school together). It is slightly misleading and can create different expectations as to what the story will turn out to be (i.e. more close proximity).
Other than that, I loved it and highly recommend it for your Christmas TBR!
Thank you to Bookouture for providing an ARC via Netgalley.
While this book is about our 2 MCs heading home for Christmas, it focuses more on their relationship and personal struggles/growth opportunities than it does the Christmas holiday. The banter and dry humor we get from our MCs was fun, but the storyline dragged a bit for me. Overall a good, holiday fake dating romance book.
Snowed in is the perfect holiday romance to start the Christmas season. We meet Megan as she is running away from what was supposed to be the most important day of her life. She’s a literal runaway bride. As she is looking for an escape, she spots an old classmate, Christian. While she wasn’t aware that Christian was invited to the wedding, she’s glad he’s the type to not be a snitch as he points her in the right direction to flee. Five years later, Christian and Megan find themselves in a Dublin pub and they’re both dreading the upcoming holidays. This is where they strike a deal to make the holidays bearable.
I was captivated by this story from the very first page. Catherine Walsh does a fantastic job engaging the reader and her writing is so detailed that I felt like I was in the book with the characters. Snowed in is the perfect romantic comedy that will tug at your emotions! It was sweet, funny, and the characters had immediate chemistry! I binged Snowed In because I could not put the book down! If you’re looking for a holiday romance, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Snowed in by Catherine Walsh. You can’t help but finish this book with a smile on your face!
i loved and enjoyed this book so much! this was such a well-written holiday story that had my attention the whole time. this book has loveable characters and writing that is easy and quick to follow. Snowed In is absolutely perfect for the Christmas season, so i definitely recommend reading it!
A perfect holiday Romcom.
It was a magical sweet love story.
Slow burn with some really nice spicy moments.
Childhood acquaintances to friends to lovers through fake dating for a holiday home coming.
The witty banter between them is what I love the most. It has every emotion in it. It made me cry, laugh, blush and kick my legs. The author has penned it in such a way.
The extended family along with the main characters were so adorable.
Definitely a good read dropping in today to be added to your holiday tbr.
Thanks to NetGalley, bookouture and Author Catherine Walsh for the eARC.
I loved the first book in this series, and the second book was just as good. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved the spin of the couple being old high school acquaintances as well. Just like the last book, I also loved that the book took place over Christmas and I adored the Ireland setting, especially the small-town vibes. There was the perfect amount of chemistry that built up over the course of the book, and the steam level was just right (not entirely closed door, but not over the top either). If you are looking for a small-town, fake dating romance with a holiday spin, then put this on your list. Perfect for fans of Holidate (Netflix movie) and To All the Boys I've Loved Before (Netflix movie). Instagram review to be posted soon!
I enjoyed the second half more than the first. I liked the prologue, the whole runaway bride meets the bad boy smoking a cigarette in the alley thing definitely got my attention. And at that point I honestly wanted more from that scene, but instead the author flash forwards 5 years after Megan and Christian meet up in pub away from their hometown. It's at this point that I honestly lost interest for a while. I didn't quite understand the big deal of their families and why they needed to fake a relationship to begin with. I completely get why Megan would be nervous given the whole 'everyone hates me because I broke my finance's heart issue. But a relationship to make her not look like a loser and then Christian thinking he needs to bring someone home to take the 'disappointment' pressure off him? It just didn't seem believable.
I liked that they eventually went from a fake relationship to a real one, but it still felt like they were more friends than romantic companion material. When they were getting intimate, sure, there was chemistry, but outside of that? It just seemed like they were going to be the best of friends. They kept battling their feelings and switching between fake and real relationship and I think that lessened the credibility of their feelings.
The 'snowed in' part of the title also doesn't happen until well towards the end of the book. That's when the real romance part starts. Up until that point, it's all them hiding their feelings from each other and just being awkward when around each other more than I'd have liked.
There are A LOT of side characters and at times I would get Megan confused with Molly and Hannah confused with Sophia (I think that was her name). It was just too much. I remember saying the same thing was an issue in "The Matchmaker" by this author before too. There's just too much focus on those side characters and it honestly takes away from the romance between the H/h.
Side note: I'm not a knitter, but who can knit a whole sweater in a day or two?
Snowed In is a very cozy holiday romance with a gorgeous snowy Ireland setting. Christian and Megan are both really likable main characters which makes the dual POV a fun read. A quick and cute story for every Christmas romance reader!
Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for the eARC.
Megan hasn’t been home since that day she ran from her wedding. Christian is from her hometown too, in fact he saw her escaping that day. She runs into him again five years later after dumping wine over him. They’re both going home this year for Christmas and decide to pretend to be a couple.
This was a fun book and the most Christmasy one I’ve read yet. I liked Megan and Christian together. The log cabin sounded magical, somewhere you would want to stay. Definitely add your her holiday reading list
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Catherine Walsh for the opportunity to read this e-ARC!
This was such a fun book to read! The trope of faking a relationship has been a fun one for me to read recently. It’s a light read and the perfect read to cozy up to as it starts getting colder.
The story alternates perspectives each chapter. Megan and Christian haven’t seen each other in years. Actually the last time they saw each other was when Megan ran out on the day of her wedding and left her ex-fiancé at the altar.
They’re both dreading going home for Christmas and decide to fake a relationship so their family won’t worry about them. They’ve agreed to help each other navigate the twists and turns of family events and friend dynamics and in the process discover more about each other than they ever knew!
I absolutely love Catherine Walsh, she’s fast become one of my favourite chick lit authors that I actually discovered on Netgalley. This is such a wholesome and cosy fake dating/friends to lovers story between childhood friends Megan and Christian, with lots of laugh out loud moments along the way. There are some references to an abusive relationship, so bear this in mind if this is a potential trigger. A solid 4.5 stars for me!
*Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
The events takes place in Ireland. ☘️☘️☘️
That’s all I’m gonna say. 🧡
First of all, the MCs are both smart, established and they COMMUNICATE. It was so refreshing, I loved it!
Megan ran away from her wedding, that’s how the book started. She had very valid reasons which I will not spoil because there is some mystery around it in the book. I wished she had ran away even sooner and not stayed in that relationship for 10 years. They were high school sweethearts in a small town, so. She got caught on the way by an old acquaintance, Christian, and he helped her.
And then, it jumped 5 years forward. She has moved to Dublin, has a job she loves, a hobby -knitting- she enjoys, a very cool roommate, and a lot of flings throughout the years. She was in a good place, really.
Christian has also moved to Dublin, got promoted to be boss, has the coolest best friend (I loved Zoe and her humour!) and he seems he can’t maintain relationships longer than a few weeks.
Of course, they ran into each other in an Irish pub.🍻And things started.
Megan never returned to their hometown in the last 5 years, she lost her friends as they all took side of her ex-fiancee, Isaac, and she never really told anyone, including her family, why she actually ran away. This year, her brother coming home from Melbourne and her mother insisting convinced her to go home for Christmas. Christian has one of the loveliest families in the world, I loved their dynamics, but he doesn’t get on very well with his father, so he has been avoiding home as well, but this year he also decided to go.
So, with some convincing and a trip to Dead Zoo lol, Megan agreed to pretend they were together and be each other’s support system. Christian was really cute, trying to convince her.
Of course, it raised suspicions from both families and friends, they got some side eyes and a few unkind remarks but I loved Christian’s unwavering support here.
I LOVED their banter! Because I love banter but they were both smartly written so it made it even better. When things got tough, they talked. When they realized they had feelings, they talked. When they had problems they talked. Their communication and chemistry were perfect.
"I want to spend next Christmas with you, Megan. And every day in between."
At some point, they got stuck in a cabin in a snowstorm, which helped them understanding their feelings better without presence of families. I thought this would take more place in the story and happen earlier but it was kind of a brief, later part.
I loved Aiden and his support for his sister. He was cute. I loved Andrew and Molly (Christian’s brother and his gf) I actually loved the whole Fitzpatrick clan. And Zoe! I wished she was in more scenes, really. I loathed Isaac and his patronizing, narcissistic attitude also Sophie who was best friends with Megan before wedding and took Isaac’s side without talking to her properly. They resolved their issues eventually but again in a sensible, distant way.
Overall, it was a cheery perfect holiday romance with two amazing MCs and many hilarious side characters. I only wished the epilogue was more about Megan and Christian, but loved to see how their relationship grew among other things. This is my first book by Catherine Walsh but I’m sure it won’t be last, I enjoyed her writing a lot.
I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Catherine Walsh for this ARC, it was a perfectly cozy holiday read!
A funny and sweet book . Megan five years ago left at the altar the golden boy of their hometown and since then she hasn't been there . Now few days away from Christmas her mother expect her to come home because her brother will visit from Australia . Her problem is that she is single so when she meets Christian an old classmate who helped her then . They agree to fake dating so they will be able to spent Christmas without being presoured they their families . While they singed a contract they seem that there is attraction between them . When they have to prepare a cabin for his big brother and they get snowed in and have to spend few days in they realise that they are in love .
I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
Catherine Walsh has my number! Wow, I like the books she writes.
Megan was a runaway bride. Now, her mother wants her to come back home for Christmas.
Christian (who, by the way, witnessed the runaway) has to go home for his family, too.
Hey, why not just fake date until Christmas and get everyone off their backs? What could go wrong, right?
READ IT!
This was such a cute Christmas-y romcom! It's sweet, with short chapters and it makes for a quick read. While it's the second in a series, it can be read as a standalone, but I'll be going back to read the first one for sure. While it is sweet, this story also deals with a past controlling relationship (brief mentions of it) and it made me appreciate Megan and Christian's connection even more. Perfect for a light holiday read! Thank you to @netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
You’ll laugh, you’ll swoon, you’ll feel *all* the emotions!
I’ll start of by saying how much I absolutely loved this one! It only took the prologue to have me hooked with the plot and in love with the MMC!
Before I get to the characters I just want to list off a few things that this book has and are sure to make every romance reader happy:
-dual pov
-no third-act break up
-fake dating
-forced proximity
and soo many more!
On top of all this, the two main characters were so incredibly loveable and had great depth! I found their problems and insecurities relatable and I loved reading how they navigated through them both on their own and together. You know how when you find the right person they bring out the best in you? I think that‘s exactly what Megan and Christian do for each other. Megan’s kind heart and Christian’s dedication and need to care for his loved one’s will stay with me for a long time. One thing this book did was show me in just how many ways you can express love and appreciation, not only in romantic relationships but familial and platonic one‘s too!
This is the perfect holiday romance that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside (and make you wish for a Christian under the Christmas tree)! And to make the anticipation just a little sweeter, here‘s one of my favourite quotes:

„I‘ve been searching for something my whole life, and nothing‘s ever clicked. And I think it‘s because I was looking for you.“

Snowed-in is out on November 1st!
Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with an earc through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
Another wonderful read by Cstherine Walsh. I always look forward to reading her books. Snowed In was such a festive, romantic (with a good bit of spice), funny and heartfelt read. I loved the banter between Megan and Christain. Megan was a very relatable and resilient character and I instantly warmed to her. Add in the family dynamics and some festive fun and you have yourself the ideal Christmas read. There are some strong supporting characters throughout the book too which make me want to read more about Aidan and Zoe.
Both Megan and Chrire running from their pasts. Megan is known in their hometown for being a runaway bride. Christian is known as a "criminal" for the practical jokes he used to play. Both are unhappy about returning home for the holidays. After running into each other by chance in a Dublin pub, Christian proposes they return home together as a couple (fake) so that they don't have to deal it alone.
This book was a slam dunk holiday read for me. Every year I look forward to Catherine Walsh's holiday romance and this year exceeded my wildest expectations. I highly recommend this read.
Reading this book is the perfect way to kick off your holiday book season! This story is exactly what you want a rom-com to be: the characters, the chemistry, the mishaps. While the premise is “going home for Christmas,” it doesn’t feel overly Christmassy, which makes it a good choice for transitioning into the season. I loved seeing the relationship grow between Meagan and Christian, and I appreciated their relationships with their family members growing, too. Add this book to your holiday TBR!
Rating: 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review & Thoughts:
I liked the second half of this book more than the first half. I just felt like nothing really happened until halfway through. It was a bit too slow for me.
I enjoyed Christian’s character a lot more than Megan’s. Although, I do love how Megan was able to get out of her past controlling relationship and make a new life for herself. I really liked both character’s families. I didn’t know this was technically a second book to Holiday Romance before I picked this one up. I might give that a read soon because I loved Andrew’s character!
The spicy scenes in this book were spicing but I felt that that chemistry between Megan and Christian could have been more. I just wasn’t feeling that burning fire between them even though it was telling me there was?
The book is called Snowed In but the actual snowed in part of the book doesn’t happen until like 70% of the way through. I enjoyed it when it happened but I felt like it could have been done a lot sooner. It started and finished so quickly.
Overall it was a cute holiday read and got me into my cosy winter feels!
