Rom-Com/Christmas/Ireland
I think that since it is the end of October, it is Christmas book season!
Megan lives in Dublin and we learn in the beginning of the book she was a runaway bride five years ago. On that day, when she was leaving the hotel where the wedding was to be held, she sees a classmate, Christian, outside having a smoke. He tells her the direction to leave and that is it.
This brings us to present day where she runs into (literally) Christian at a pub.
They get to talking and he finds out she has never gone home after running out on the wedding and he does not like going home as the single adult.
He proposes a plan to have them pretend to be a couple and go home for the holidays.
That is all I will tell you about this book. It was fun, characters were people you rooted for and fun to read this season.
Thank you @netgalley for the advance copy.

What a delight! This book has all the cozy Christmas vibes you need, along with some sass, humor, love, and a ton of heart. Catherine Walsh is easily becoming a must-read author!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh is one of my favorite holidays books of the year so far. I loved Megan and Christian as a couple. Their banter was entertaining, and they had such great chemistry. I found myself rooting for them as a couple from the beginning. I was also pleasantly surprised with the amount of spice in this book. Megan is such a strong character, even in the beginning, leaving a relationship that she knew was toxic and coming back to a town that called her the "runaway bride". I was captivated by seeing her grow as a character and stand up for herself against Issaac. Overall, this is a fun romantic comedy for the holidays and am looking forward to reading Molly and Andrew's story in Holiday Romance.
Snowed In comes out on November 1st!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review Snowed In. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Super great read. I read this book in a day and a a half because it couldn’t put it down. It gave me all the feels!! We’ll be checking out more books by this author!
I just reviewed Snowed In by Catherine Walsh. #SnowedIn #NetGalley
I love the trope of the fake Christmas date, it this book is so poorly written that even this stand by trope could not save it.
I forgot how hilarious Catherine Walsh's book are! This book had me laughing throughout and I couldn't read this book fast enough. I may have stayed up late to finish it!
Megan is the town pariah after leaving golden boy Isaac at the alter and Christian is the village bad boy. They agree to fake date to get through the Christmas period and chaos ensures.
I loved Megan, I loved Christian and I loved them together. Their banter was honestly 11/10 and I could read 300 more pages about them.
This is the perfect Christmas read to curl up with on the sofa.

I wasn't ready for how much I'd love this book. I already had Catherine Walsh's other books on my TBR, but unfortunately, I hadn't read any yet. Now I know what I was missing. I'm totally obsessed with her writing – there's just no other way to put it. 😅
I started reading, and I couldn't put it down; the story had me hooked from the beginning. Christian and Megan are two characters I loved right from the start.
Megan decides to return for the holiday to her hometown. But the last time she was home was when she ran away on her wedding day. So, she's not exactly thrilled to face the people she left behind. Christian isn't too thrilled about returning and being the last bachelor in the family.
Christian and Megan have known each other since childhood, but they were never really friends, more like acquaintances. However, when they bump into each other at a bar in Dublin, where both of them are currently living, they end up sharing their concerns about going back home. They make a deal to be each other's fake partners during the holidays. As they have to spend more time together, the chemistry between them becomes undeniable.
I loved how the story unfolded, and I enjoyed seeing Megan's journey of growth. And I can't forget to mention how much it warmed my heart to see how much Christian cared about Megan.
This story has lovable characters, fantastic banter, and adorable, funny moments.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review, but all opinions are my own.
Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for sending me this ARC.
Snowed in is a wonderfully funny story that has absolutely everything! Runaway bride, friends to lovers, fake dating, small town, banter, slow burn... Need I say more?
This is my first Catherine Walsh book, but it will definitely won't be the last! She has become an auto buy author for me.
What I loved most about the book is how well paced it was and the delightful banter between Christian and Megan.
Highly recommend!
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved this book.
It’s been five years since Megan went to visit her family. That’s because, she made a decision to leave by the back door of the hotel on the day of her wedding to Isaac, who was waiting for her at the altar.
Then we meet Christian, who also lives in the same town as Megan. He likes going home for the holidays, but, what he doesn’t like is how he’s looked at for being single when all his siblings are "coupled up".
When they both meet in a pub in Dublin, Megan and Christian come up with a plan to see through the holiday season. They will go back as a couple and be each others dates at family occasions.
But, Megan proposes some rules and both sign to agree them. Will they stick to these rules or will they be broken?
I highly recommend this book.
The perfect winter cozy romance! A fun holiday romance with mature characters who actually communicate (no god-awful third-act breakup) While still maintaining the tension needed in the fake dating and forced proximity tropes.
Another cozy holiday banger from Catherine Walsh! I know I can always rely on her for a book that I won't want to put down. I also appreciate how conflict gets weaved into the story and there is not some big third act breakup at the end. It was also a pleasant surprise having Molly and Andrew show up in this one as I didn't realize the two books were connected! This is the perfect book to curl up with by the fire during the holidays.
Catherine Walsh's "Snowed In" is a heartwarming winter story that captures the magic of the season and the power of connection. The plot revolves around two main characters, their unexpected encounter during a snowstorm, and the ensuing adventure. While I thoroughly enjoyed the story, finding it utterly cute and delightful, I couldn't help but feel that there was room for more character
Despite this minor drawback, "Snowed In" remains a lovely and heartwarming read, perfect for those seeking a charming winter romance.
This book was such a breath of fresh air and I adored every minute of it! When you get a runaway bride in the prologue you know you’re going to have a fun story with some depth to it.
This was my first book by Catherine Walsh and I will definitely be making my way through her backlist after this. I found her characterizations so well done and the family dynamics so incredibly relatable. The small town setting of an Irish town full of a persons past clashing with their present really hit home as well, and wrapped up all in a sweet love story that made me swoon the entire way.
Highly recommend this read to fans of fake dating, acquaintances to friends to lovers, forced proximity, small town romance and family holiday shenanigans!
Thank you to the author and the publisher for the arc in exchange for this honest review!
Thank you so much to Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for the e-book and audiobook!
This was a dual perspective, fake dating (at Christmas), heartfelt snowed-in read!
I really liked the beginning and how we got the backstory on Megan and her (left at the alter) ex-fiancé'. I think that beginning scene really set the stage and helped me care more about Megan.
I think for once the romance between Megan and Christian was actually believable, too. It didn't seem like insta-love and their reasons for falling in love seemed real and valid. I appreciated how Christian was actually a nice guy and really looked out for her even while they were "fake dating".
As far as content goes, there were a couple spicy scenes that were more detailed than I typically prefer and rather long as well, but easily skipped if that's not for you.
I think this one will be a a big hit around the holidays for sure!
I went back and forth between the e-book and the audiobook and I really liked the narrators in the audiobook so spent more timing reading it that way!
This will be available for purchase Nov 1st.
3.5 rounded to 4
This one was cute! A fast paced fake dating story. Both Megan and Christian were trying to fool their families which added a fun twist and adventure. This one had great banter and holiday charm.
I loved Molly and Andrew in Catherine Walsh's last holiday book, and I'm so glad they made an appearance in this book, but OH MY GOODNESS were Christian and Megan SO CUTE in Snowed In.
The first chapter with Molly as a runaway bride and Christian, her childhood friend, helping her escape set the tone for the book. As we flash forward to present day, "bad boy" Christian isn't as bad as we think and Megan had her reasons for running away. As they fake date to get each other through the holidays (I love this trope!), they realize that maybe it's not so fake. I appreciated that they both recognized they wanted to be more serious together at the same time.
This book was filled with equal parts laugh out loud and swoon-worthy moments, as well as self deprecation, touching family moments and just so much fun. Can I get Hannah to make me a dress for the holiday ball?!
This is such a great book to get snowed in with!!
After loving Holiday Romance, I couldn't wait to dive into Christian's book and I have to say Ms. Walsh didn't disappoint, It was such a lovely, sweet and festive read with lots going on.
We get to see what's behind Christian's difficult relationship with his family especially his father, and his struggle to feel fulfilled. Megan's been through the wringer, and both characters need the help of a fake relationship to help with their visit home. We get to see real feelings develop after their initial attraction and how Christian supports Megan with dealing with the fallout from her past as the runaway bride.
All the snow helps set the mood for a cosy Christmas read, and loved seeing Andrew and Molly and the big surprise. Also, Zoe is the best; I really want her story! I can't recommend this enough and know this is going to be a reread favourite for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy. All opinions expressed are my own and happily offered.
Synopsis
“Megan is dreading going home for the holidays. She’s the village pariah, the she-devil who left local golden boy Isaac at the altar four years ago and ran away to the big city. So when Megan literally bumps into Christian (an old classmate) in a Dublin pub, they come up with a pact to see them through the holiday season. They’re going to be the very best fake dates for each other, ever.”
My Thoughts
I quickly read this book while on vacation and loved every minute of it. I didn’t realize that Holiday Romance (which is sitting on my shelf) was the first book in the series, so I’ll have to get to that soon! I loved the characters, the main characters chemistry, the banter, and honestly, I just wished that I was a part of Christian’s family the whole time. So fun and perfect for the holiday season - definitely pick this one up!!

5 stars for this holiday hit! I devoured this rom-com in a weekend, unable to put down the witty banter and slow-burn. Megan O'Sullivan left her fiance Isaac at the alter, making her the talk of the town. Five years later she unwillingly goes back for Christmas only after striking up a deal with Christian Fitzpatrick that they'll be in a fake relationship. Obviously sparks fly. I typically dislike the fake dating trope but the dual POV helped to make sure we knew how invested both characters were in each other.
The one liners in this book had me laughing out loud. This book takes place after Walsh's Holiday Romance - they can be read as standalone but that book was equally charming so I'd read in sequence! So happy to have read before the holiday season so I can open it back up in several weeks to enjoy it again.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC, all thoughts are my own.
I loved this holiday romcom! It had all my favorite tropes and flirty banter that had me audibly laughing out loud. I really felt for Megan on her journey back home and dealing with the life she left behind, and I loved how supportive Christian was for her the entire time. The endearing family members were so realistic and made the story feel like you really were returning home for the holidays. My favorite part of this story was it not just being fluffy romance that it had a bit of grit. The town hating Megan and having to watch her learn to stand up for herself gave this story depth that I appreciated. Thank you to Bookouture, Catherine Walsh, and Netgalley for allowing me access to this book for an honest review.
My review is on Goodreads now and I will be posting a review on tiktok November 1st for publication day!!
