Catherine Walsh does it again!!! I absolutely loved everything about this book. Catherine Walsh writes the most relatable characters. The banter between characters was laugh out loud funny. I don't know what else to say except this is definitely one of my favorite books of the year. I highly recommend reading anything by Catherine Walsh.
Catherine Walsh has done it again - this is Christmas Magic in the form of a book! Just like every Catherine Walsh book before this, Snowed In swept me off my feet and found me laughing out loud in coffee shops, trains, and hotel breakfasts - basically every time when I had the chance to continue reading, read this book I did.
Snowed In - about two old classmates from the same small Irish town who fake a relationship because that might make going home for Christmas easier and avoid all those 'How come you're still single?' questions - continues the story started in Holiday Romance last year but can be read as a standalone, too. However, since Holiday Romance is another brilliant Christmassy novel by Catherine Walsh, I would highly recommend getting your hands on both of these witty, funny and heartwarming books the first chance you get! That's a surefire way to have yourselves a merry little Christmas, if you ask me. ❤
5 lovely holiday romance stars
This author delivers again! This time, with a fake boyfriend trope that hooked me right away and characters that I cheered for again and again.
Megan and Christian have known each other since childhood and bump into each other in Dublin near Christmas. Both want to go home for Christmas but don’t want to show up single for another year. They cook up a scheme to be boyfriend/girlfriend to make the holidays easier for them both.
Megan has a history with her hometown. She left as a runaway bride years ago and hasn’t been home since. And Christian is tired of his family questioning him about love interests.
They have everything figured out and even write down some rules. Can their fake relationship hold up under family scrutiny?
I loved this one, with witty, realistic dialogue, family dynamics, and a love story I could completely root for. Throw in a great luxury remote cabin and a giant snowstorm, and you’ve got some spicy scenes to enjoy on a cold winter evening.
If you’ve read her earlier book “Holiday Romance,” you will enjoy the return of Andrew and Molly in this one.
Really sweet Christmastime romance!
Things I loved about this book:
🎄 dual point of view
🎄 fake dating!!
🎄 he falls first
🎄 small town vibes
🎄 family antics
🎄 dancing
🎄 they actually get snowed in!
Christian and Megan are such a fun fake couple. Known each other their entire lives, but not really known, and they meet up as adults in Dublin and decide to be one another’s dates to Christmas back home. The fake dating scheme is one of my favorites, and I love that Christian takes the reigns for it. He’s funny and flirty and really likable. And Megan is so sweet. She loves knitting, she is troubled by her past and the way people in town view her, but I loved getting to know her.
🌶️ There are a couple of spicy scenes, but I skipped them easily since spice isn’t my cup of tea.
I couldn't stop smiling as I read this book! This book takes forced proximity to a whole new level - in the best way!! I will be buying and recommending this book. I loved every minute of it! 5 stars.
I have to say that I truly loved Snowed In!
It was just a perfect holiday fake dating romcom read that gave me all the feels.
The main characters, Megan and Christian, were just perfectly lovely. Their personalities were quirky, funny and just so loveable. The development of their romance was definitely slow burn. But, you could feel the chemistry between the two of them right from the beginning.
All in all, a perfect, cozy holiday read I highly recommend if you like fake dating/romance books.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Honestly have not read a Catherine Walsh book I have not loved with my whole heart! She writes characters with such personality you can’t help but fall in love with!! As always have already bought a physical copy of this book so I have a copy on my bookshelf!
Christmas book of the year. Easily. If you love fake-dating, cosy small town and cute Christmas holiday vibes you need to read this. The characters are SO well written, so hilarious with a unique type of humour and banter that I've never seen before in a romance book. I love a dual POV with the guy and Christian is PERFECT, so cute and handles things so well between him and Megan. These characters clearly care for each other so much in a unique best-friend way as they slowly begin falling for each other. Cannot wait to read the rest of this author's work!
I was so lucky to get the chance to review this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Catherine Walsh for the opportunity.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher and author for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved Snowed In. It’s set in Ireland over the Christmas season, so it was a very cozy read. Since the fake dating trope has been done a thousand times, I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this book. The characters were great. I even loved the side characters. I loved that there was a runaway bride situation on top of the fake dating. Megan and Christian are so likable and fit together and with each other’s families so well.
The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because for me I personally like an “oh no” moment where some kind of drama goes down and even though you know it’s going to end happily, you’ve got a moment of tension thinking things might not work out. That never happened in this book. While that did make it a cozier, happier holiday read, I think I would have enjoyed that bit of drama. Overall this book was great and I’d definitely recommend it as a December read!
Having read the first one, Holiday Romance, I had to read this one as well, and it did not disappoint.
Megan hasn't come back home in five years, after she left her fiancée at the altar. She now lives in dublin where she runs into Chrisitan, and old school friend, who was there n her wedding day and the only person who saw her escape.
Both dreading to come back home for the hoidays, they decide to fake date while they're there.
The chemistry these two have is incredible, with all their banter and the way they support each other. Especially Christian, he really is there for Megan, not only when she needed him for the the "social events" they had organised to attend with their respective families, but especially when she needed him the most, when she had to face the past and the people she had left behind.
The realisation they both got hit with, with sudden and unexpected to them, but it was so sweet to read.
The chapters when they got snowed were perfect, hallmark movie perfect. And I loved - and laighed - when Andrew and Molly picked them up at the cottage, "unannounced".
Thank You to the wonderful Bookouture for the gifted ARC provided through NetGalley! It was my pleasure to read and review this wonderful book
The perfect hallmark movie turned into a book!!
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶️🌶️
Omg!! This book was everything you’d want out of a fake dating Christmas time romance!! I have no shame in admitting that I am 100% an Christmas obsessed girly, and this book hit on everything I love about Christmas, the love, time with family, decorations, even the weather while still being a magical story all on its own!! If you are looking for a fake dating romance between a runaway bride and the town playboy, with an interesting plot, amazing dates, and just the right amount of spice to light up your Christmas tree than this book is everything you could want and more!!
In this book we’re dropped right into the middle of a wedding with a bride on the run… I’ll let you read to find out why. But after her getaway our MFC Megan finally starts making a life for herself, a life she enjoys, a life she’s confident in even if she has had to leave some things behind to achieve it but with her newfound confidence comes her desire to return home and face the demons of her past, thankfully for her our MMC Christian is looking to head home for Christmas as well, with his own demons to face. And when they decide to be each other backups to facing their family Christmases well let’s just say their fake dating turns into something a whole lot more!!
Not only was the plot of the book perfect for all Christmas romance lovers or really romance lovers in general, but the characters were astounding!! I loved Megan from the get go! She was so relatable, just a girl in her mid twenties trying to figure out life after being tied to one guy for far longer than she should’ve been. She was fun loving, witty, and while she had a few insecurity stumbles she never let that stop her from keeping her heart open to those around her! Then you had Christian the perfect book bf honestly, while not morally gray or an alphahole he was just the perfect amount of protective and possessive that made at least me swoon!! Not to mention he loved his family, and was ready to do anything for them whether it be taking them to a pub or replacing a boiler. Not only that but he treated Megan like a princess and honestly it was so cute!!
Overall this was just an amazing book! So if you’re looking for a book that’s got cute characters, a sweet fake dating romance, or just some Christmas time vibes I would highly recommend adding Snowed In to your TBR!!
HAPPY READING 📖
Holiday Romance was such a fun read last year! So when I heard that Catherine was releasing another book this year (with the MMC being the brother of Holiday Romance's MMC no less), I *had* to read it asap. And oh my god, this book was totally fake dating heaven. The fake to not-so-fake to real love arc was >>>>. And the hurt/comfort and "who did this to you / what did he do to you" scenes had me screaming. Also, the banter!! Loved it smm 😭
TWs - controlling relationship (past), mild victim blaming (present)
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!
Forced proximity plus fake dating set to the backdrop of Ireland at Christmas? Yes please! I found this cozy winter romance sweet, funny, and moving. The one trigger warning for this story was relevant to me, and without spoiling anything, I can say that it was authentically written. It felt validating reading it. Beyond that, I truly loved the chemistry between Megan and Christian, and I enjoyed the development of true feelings out of fake dating. Snowed In is the perfect romantic holiday read!
Who else adored Catherine Walsh's last release, Holiday Romance? It was one of my favorite romances of 2022.
Snowed In is just as sweet and hilarious as its predecessor. It's a loose sequel, following the brother of Holiday Romance's male lead. It's charming and funny and festive, but not overly saturated with Christmas cheer.
You can definitely pick it up without having read Holiday Romance, but I recommend adding both to your Christmas TBR!
I’m typically not a fan of fake dating trope but this book did it right. I didn’t feel like as the reader it was clear as day to me that they were developing feelings and yet both parties seemed to be oblivious to it. It was a slow burn romance with so many swoon worthy moments.
It’s marketed as a stand alone but it features another couple. My Spidey sense kept tingling the entire time and lo and behold, the other couple had their own book, which was also a holiday romance, that I read last year and gave 5 stars to. Lol. So yes, Ms. Walsh knocked two holiday romances out of the ballpark. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next year!
What a lovely Christmas treat! I hope you love this book as much as I did. Megan and Christian are adorable and charming. I loved the way they interacted. I can’t wait to find myself in Dublin and remembering these characters! Highly highly recommend. And I’m gonna say it….is Catherine Walsh my new Emily Henry? Yes. Yes she is.
Cute, holiday romance. Megan and Christian decide to be fake boyfriend girlfriend and go home for the holidays. This was a fun read to kick off the holiday season.
I've read all of Catherine Walsh's books other than The Matchmaker, and I really enjoyed all of them, so I had an inkling that I'd love this one too. In general, Christmas romances are something I really love, and this was no exception.
Megan hasn't been home for Christmas since she became a runaway bride - but this year, her brother is coming home all the way from Australia, so Megan has to go home. Christian grew up in the same town, and when he goes home for Christmas, he hates being the only single one, surrounded by his siblings in loving relationships.
When Megan and Christian meet by chance in a pub, Christian proposes they go home under the guise of a fake relationship, to support each other through the holiday season. Eventually, he convinces Megan to go along with it under some strict conditions which they eventually break.
I found Megan and Christian's chemistry really believable and Megan's initial reluctance to lean too heavily on Christian was quite believable.
I'm an absolute sucker for forced proximity, and I love how mature their conversations were, and how natural it felt when their relationship progressed. I really enjoyed how respectful and careful they were with each other's feelings and families, and how they went along at the pace that was comfortable for the other person.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with this ARC for review. The book comes out on 1 November, and you should absolutely pick it up this Christmas!
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this arc.
Megan is dreading going home for Christmas for the first time since she skipped out at her wedding. Christian is worried about going home alone for Christmas and doesn’t want his family to pressure him about his failed relationships. So our lovely couple agrees to fake date whilst they’re in their hometown for the holidays and end up falling love.
That’s the premise of this wholesome, warm and sweet romcom. It had drama, it had romance, it had sibling bonding, and healing old wounds, getting closure, and falling in love. By the time you reach the ending snowed in leaves satisfied and content.
As much as I enjoyed this one I gotta admit Holiday Romance is still my favorite of Catherine’s. And I loved that we got the see Molly and Andrew’s relationship develop, they have a special place in my heart.
A lovely read for the holidays, I recommend. ❤️🩹
I LOVED this book! i consider myself to be a relatively slow reader, but i demolished this book in a day - i couldn’t put it down!
First of all, i adored the plot of this book. The combination of fake dating, Christmas, and small town romance tropes made this book such a cozy read that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. The tension between Megan and Christian had me completely hooked and desperate to read more, and their relationship was perfectly paced - not too slow and not too fast. This book was set in Ireland, which i thought was absolutely perfect for the small town, festive vibes of this story, and i already can’t wait to re-read it over Christmas!
Secondly, the characters within the book were all fleshed out so well. Each character had such a unique personality and their own little back story, which made this book feel extra captivating. I especially loved Christian’s character, he was so refreshing and had me giggling and kicking my feet all throughout this book! Not only was his character chivalrous and consistently respectful of Megan’s wants and decisions, he was SERIOUSLY funny and had me laughing so much!! If you love sarcasm and whitty characters, you will absolutely love Christian.
Lastly, this book was just written SO well. The dual POV was perfect and each POV switch was timed perfectly. The spice was chef’s kiss; not too much that it dominated the story, nor too little - each spicy scene felt progressive to the story line. If i had to change anything about this book, i’d make the ending just a little longer, i’d like to see how it all played out after returning to dublin, but the epilogue was a cute little insight into Christian and Megan’s future together <33 highly recommend this book if you’re after a cozy, tension filled Christmas romance!
