I really loved this book. Megan is a likeable character and Christian a good male lead.
Supporting characters were well written and their personalities unique, each character contributed to the story.
My only small gripe, is why Megan kept Isaac’s controlling behaviour such a secret for so long. I couldn’t quite understand how after ditching him at the altar she felt that walking away from her family was an easier option than explaining things. If it transpires that she didn’t get along with her family then that would make more sense, but that wasn’t the case.
Anyway, despite that small thing, the book was great. I loved it. I loved the instant attraction and then the building relationship between Megan and Christian.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review 📚
I absolutely loved and raved about this one. It was cute and steamy and not a hallmark Christmas story, which I loved. It wasn’t cheesy, it was a solid romance that happened to be during the Christmas season. I loved this and keep recommending it to friends!
There is just extra magic that comes with a Christmas story that takes place in Ireland. If I had it my way every story would take place in Ireland. When this book finished I had to have a serious moment to collect myself. I had to separate myself from these characters. The fact that these people are fictional breaks my heart, I love them so much! Fingers crossed that the next book is Sophie and Aidan's story.
Welcome Catherine Walsh to my auto-buy list.
This was the @tiredmammybook club pick for December and it was a great pick. Although a standalone story, it includes some characters from the author's Christmas book last year 'Holiday Romance' , so I would recommend you read it first.
Snowed In is like an adultified and Irishified (both in the dictionary I swear 🤪) Hallmark Christmas movie. There's lots of cheeky banter between the main characters and a little bit of spice throughout.
Overall a light hearted , fun read, with a little bit of depth.....a nice read to curl up with at the end of those busy days we all know about in December
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy!
Megan has not gone home for Christmas for the past four years after leaving local golden boy, Isaac, at the altar. She's been in Dublin living her life ever since and has been fine living drama free and not going home. Until she literally runs into Christian at pub in the city, and since he's from the same hometown, concocts a plan to fake date at home for Christmas. Christian creates this plan because he's tired of being alone on Christmas and having to face his family's sad faces.
Megan agrees and they create a list of rules to follow throughout their dating. It's only for a few weeks, but what happens when lines begin to blur and they discover more and more about each other. All leading to being snowed in at a cabin on Christmas Eve.
I had not read Walsh's first book in this series, however, this book read well as a stand-alone. This was such a fun, fake-dating story and one of my favorite genres. I enjoyed watching the blossoming relationship between Christian and Megan. Even though they had grown up together, they were in separate circles, so it was neat to watch them discover more about one another during their time together. I liked how they leaned on each other in difficult family or town-related dynamics and worked through their feelings together. Highly suggest reading this quick and swoon-worthy novel right before Christmas!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoture for the ARC of this book. This is one of my favorite Christmas/winter romance series. It’s cute, funny, and a tiny bit spicy. This book is a tad bit of a slow burn and it didn’t quite get the passion I got from Molly and Andrews story but it’s still really enjoyable to read. Great choice for a Christmas romance read!
Thanks to Bookouture for the copy of this ARC!
I absolutely loved Holiday Romance, and jumping back into this world was just so much fun! This book started off with QUITE the scene and hooked me right away. I'm always up for childhood friends reuniting and falling in love, and there's no better setting for that than the holidays! This is a great holiday read!
I could not put this book down! I loved it so much. I want to keep reading more and more about the characters. I'm so sad this ones over.
"Snowed In" by Catherine Walsh is another fantastic read that's earned a well-deserved 4 stars from me. If you've enjoyed Walsh's other books, you'll definitely love this one too. It's got all the elements that make her writing so wonderful - humor, warmth, and a story that just feels good.
The book is funny in a way that's both smart and effortless, making you chuckle and smile throughout. But it's not just the humor that stands out - there's a real warmth to the characters and their interactions. It's the kind of book that wraps you up like a cozy blanket, perfect for those days when you just want to escape into a feel-good story.
In short, "Snowed In" is a charming and heartwarming read, showcasing Catherine Walsh's talent for creating stories that are as entertaining as they are endearing.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an ARC through NetGalley. As always, my opinions are entirely my own.
AN ADORABLE SWOONY ABSOLUTE MUST-READ ROMCOM THIS HOLIDAY!
I couldn't tear myself away from this book since the prologue. The not-so-meet-cute but fated one? The childhood friends turns to fake lovers to get through holidays? I love Christian and Megan characters, I wish they're real so I could be friend with them. They have such a buzzing chemistry and great banter. Not to mention how I was giggling so much every times Christian do something out of their contract. It's almost a year since I first read book by Catherine Walsh, which happened to be Andrew and Molly's story, it's so great to be reunited with them through Christian's story.
Holiday romances are a favourite genre of mine because I like to get into the Christmas spirit. This was a fast paced funny with great chemistry. This is the perfect book to read by the fire and have a cup of coffee and read.
The story begins with Megan, a runaway bride desperately trying to escape her wedding, only to bump into Christian, a childhood acquaintance and one of the wedding guests (thanks to her mom’s invites), on her way out the door. He promises to keep quiet about her running away, and that’s the last time they see each other until they unexpectedly cross paths years later in Dublin.
When they hang out that night Christian decides to pursue Megan for a fake relationship, because they both have something to gain. Megan is reluctant to return home because she hasn’t been since running away from her wedding, and Christian has his own demons to face at home. They promise to be there for each other and be each other’s support for everything the holidays entail back in their small town in Ireland. But of course, as you can guess, there’s sparks and chemistry between these two and it soon starts to become real.
I loved this! Sure, there are a lot of coincidences but romance books are meant to be a swoony escape, which is absolutely what this book was. The reasoning for Megan running away from her wedding was so well thought out and unpredictable, and Christian is a top-tier fictional boyfriend.
Best part???? NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP, and this was spicier than Holiday Romance which was a nice change. I’ve never read a fake dating story that didn’t include some awful and frankly, painful third-act breakup, but this one sidestepped it completely. This was just an entertaining, sexy, and heartwarming holiday love story with a perfect mix of conflict and romance!
Thank you so much to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my review!
I absolutely loved this book! Even better than the first one.
Megan is a runaway bride and is caught trying to escape by Christian. Fast forward 5 years and add a little fake dating into the mix and you have a fantastic love story! I also love how Molly and Andrew's story continued in this book.
Hoping for a third book! And I will definitely be reading the other books by Catherine Walsh! Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
So great to spend another Christmas with the Fitzpatricks! I have a feeling it'll be a holiday tradition soon.
Megan left her tiny village behind after running away from the altar years ago, but now she needs to go back home and she's not looking forward to it. Especially not since everyone still hates her for breaking her ex-fiancé's heart. Christian doesn't mind being single, but everyone in his family is coupled up and giving him sad eyes. So when they run into each other in a pub in Dublin, they come up with a great idea: go back home together and pretend to be dating. Because what could go wrong?
The chemistry between Megan and Christian was amazing. Their interactions with each other's families were funny and sweet, and it felt really satisfying to see them work through the issues from their past that were still haunting them.
This was a charming and cheerful holiday romance, perfect for when you're snuggling under a blanket on the couch with a steaming mug of hot chocolate nearby.
Catherine Walsh's romances are so easy to read. I am so engrosed I don't even realize I'm already half way through.
This is a fake dating let's-go-home-for-christmas book featuring a runaway bride. And it does what it sets out to do perfectly. The story is engaging, the MC are likeable, it's funny - you get the full christmas rom-com package.
The only thing for me is that Christian was way too invested and acting too much like a boyfriend from the very begining when he didn't even know Megan. And we don't really get much on him, why did all his past relatiionships not work out if he's the perfect boyfriend?
3.5 stars.
I really loved this one! This has all the feels I enjoy from a Christmas romance with fake dating! Christian and Megan were such fun characters to read from and I loved their chemyans connection. To be honest, I didn't know about the first book, so you bet I ran to get the next one! Probably my favorite Christmas read of 2023!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Very cute holiday laugh out loud fun romance. The best part by far is no third act break. Definitely recommend this Christmas season!
Wow this is the dreamiest and steamiest and absolutely laugh out loud holiday romance. No notes! I love a festive and fun storyline with characters I fall in love with and extra points for so many charming supporting characters. Can’t wait to read more from this author!
| loved Catherine Walsh's Holiday Romance last year and loved it, so when I saw Snowed In on NetGalley I had to request - it is set in the same world, but centers on Andrew's brother Christian and Megan who grew up in the same town and runs into Christian by chance at a bar in Dublin. Holiday romance with a small town Irish setting? Just say yes!
This is a Christmas themed fake dating book - Christian and Megan agree to fool relatives and friends into thinking they are back as a couple for the holidays.
They each have their own reasons for agreeing to this scheme but since they both dread going back alone it seems like a worthwhile option.
Christian and Megan are cute and good together and it was easy to root for them. Their interaction is a lot of fun and easy to read and digest.
I will continue to pick up any books by Catherine Walsh.
She does such an amazing job at writing loveable characters and fun dialogue.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced readers copy - I truly enjoyed my reading but I am very behind on my reviews so the book is already out !
Everything Catherine Walsh writes is magic, and this book is no exception. I admire Catherine's smart, funny writing so much, and this book delivered that along with plenty of swoony moments and great chemistry between characters. A fantastic follow-up to Holiday Romance! I want more in this series!
