This was a bit difficult to get through. It did not captivate my attention. I wanted to love it but the plot needed to move faster in the beginning.
This title has been pulled from publication because of the author's actions so I will not be reading it.
I will no longer be providing feedback for this book due to the author’s actions and the book having been pulled from publication.
This book was promising, but the controversy surrounding the author really turned me off the book. It seems like such a big waste: securing a book deal, having the hype, and then seeing all that crumble because of really bad behavior fueled by prejudice and jealousy. This is the main reason I will not be recommending the title nor getting it for our collection.
Publisher no longer requesting feedback for this title due to cancellation of release. Title was archived prior to original publication date.
I’m being kinder to this book than I should be given the circumstances. Im aware that this book will no longer be published in 2024 due the the poor actions of this author. I shouldn’t have even read it given what I know, but I did and I’m here to say that it was actually alright. I thought it was a unique take on Greek mythology and I’m a sucker for SciFi. I think this really could have done well if it weren’t for the author’s own self destructive behavior. As always, thank you to NetGalley for a copy of the book.
Thank you to netgalley. Unfourantley I will not be reading this book due to the author's poor behavior
Well considering this author’s atrocious behavior and removal from the publication schedule i will not be reading or reviewing this title. I just need to write a review for the system ya know
Thank you to Del Rey for the arc.
However I will not be providing a review based off the authors actions and the fact that this book has been pushed back till never.
I will not be providing a book review since this book is no longer being published. I was looking forward to this book release based on the concepts of the story and description.
Greek mythology revision of Ariadne and Dionysus. Steamy, queer, vicious gods; that sounds fantastic, but unfortunately it was not all that good. The writing style was jumbled and abrupt to say the least. It went from one thought to another, very contradictory. I couldn’t keep the characters straight and they entered the storyline with no real explanation. I didn’t get a real reason for most of what was going on.
My review is based solely on the book itself not the author or their behavior.
Thank you to NetGalley for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
This book showed a lot of promise. I enjoyed the retelling of the story of Ariadne and even learned more about Dionysus as a god (and as an Olympian). I'm not convinced entirely of the sci-fi elements as they weren't too prominent once Ariadne left Naxos, but I suppose that's better than the sci-fi being overbearing and taking away from the story. However, the author's racism has left a bad taste in my mouth and completely overrides the beautiful story written here. I'm rating the book 2.5 stars because it was good, but I had to deduct over Corrain's antics.
I actually really enjoyed this book, which now causes me literal pain after learning of the author’s scandal. What a complete waste. This was amazing. Ugh. I feel weird saying anything else.
Thank you to Netgallery and Del Rey for the ARC and also for canceling the publication of this book. I will not be reviewing it because it is no longer being published.
No. Not even going to start this one after what the author was cancelled for. Deleting it from my dev ice upon submitting this "review"
This book is so easy to read. I could finish it honestly but it will be just me reading it without feeling anything. The plot feels so out of place. And the character depths are not accurate, I already love Ariadne and Dionysus so much that’s why I found this book because I am searching for more of their books but omg I don’t feel any connection between them at all. Ariadne has this trauma that’s why she’s acting so protective of herself with Dionysus but I did not feel her trauma when I was reading it.
I will not be completing this book due to the recent discourse surrounding the actions of Cait Corrain on Goodreads.
This book totally snagged itself a sparkling five-star review from yours truly! I'm all about that Greek mythology life, and let me tell you, the plot was like a literary black hole—it sucked me right in! Can we take a moment to appreciate the eye candy that is the gorgeous cover? And when I peeked at the description, it was like destiny calling—I had to get my hands on this gem!
The writing was so vivid that I sometimes felt smack dab in the middle of the action. And who knew you could take the solar system and turn it into a wild ride of a story? The genius behind this book did well. I was on cloud nine as someone who's all about space AND mythology.
Let's talk about that perfect blend of political drama and a slow-burn romance. The feelings between the characters were on point, and the timeline of their love story was like a well-choreographed dance. Plus, can we give a shoutout for the steamy romance? It was hotter than a supernova! And let's not forget the clever use of Greek mythology for some queer representation—brilliant move!
The character arcs were so juicy, the romance was sizzling, and the plot stole my breath in the final stretch. I was begging for more! I'm officially stuck in a post-book haze.
Thank you to NetGalley and Del Ray Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I don't feel comfortable reading or reviewing this book after the actions of the author. I did start it, before the controversy, and had to put it down because it was a bit dry for me.
Seeing how this book is no longer being published by Del Rey next year (or possibly ever?) due to the controversy surrounding the author, I am going to refrain from providing a full review for this title. Thank you very much to the publisher for providing this ARC to me, I was looking forward to this title based on the book description, but completely understand the decision to no longer include this title on the publishing roster for next year (or perhaps any year?) based on the author's actions.
