This book had me on the edge of my seat! It kept me awake longer than I should have allowed but you just don’t want to stop reading. Thank you Bookouture for inviting me to be part of the Books on Tour for “We All Keep Secrets” by Sheryl Brown.
Ellie starts working as a nanny for her boss’s two young children. Jake and Megan seem to have it all but looks can be deceiving! If you are looking for a quick read that you won’t won’t want to put down, this book is for you!
I’m looking forward to reading more books by Sheryl Browne. Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
We all know that the nanny knows everything. She is there 24 hours a day and sees a family at their worst. However, this one took it to a whole different level. Ellie thinks she knows everything, but she is only seeing what they want her to see. This was a vicious game of deceit with deadly consequences. It is proof that one lie will begat another lie until everything boils over.
Ellie was flattered when her handsome boss asked her to come home with him. They have lost their nanny, and are in dire need of someone. There is only problem with his ask, he did not bother to let his wife know. Megan is not happy to see another one of Jake's young women in her house. She also immediately assumes that things are different for Ellie than they actually are. Ellie immediately falls in love with the children, Ollie and Fern. Ollie is at an age where he can sense the tension in the household, and Ellie finds herself trying to protect him from the war going on in this house. The story is told from dual points of view, and you will not know who you can trust. I immediately disliked Megan. She seemed to be a diva who took great joy in crushing those she felt were beneath her. However, it did not take long for me to dislike Jake as well. There was just something about him. I could not quite put my finger on it, but I did not trust him. I actually did not trust any of these characters. Ellie appears all young, sweet and innocent, but she is hiding secrets as well. When it all comes to the boiling point, you will still be wondering what just happened even though you just finished reading it. Sheryl Brown is a master of writing domestic suspense thrillers which will drag you along as the cat and mouse games race to the finish. This one is not for the weak of heart.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Well, this was an easy to read, page turning thriller! I couldn’t put this one down, I was flying through the pages, glued to the story and the characters. The prologue starts the story off strong. Then the first part of the book is told through Ellie’s point of view. The second half of the book, we get Jake’s and Megan’s points of view as well, which I really enjoyed. And while it meant that some of the scenes were repeated, it also meant that we were given extra bits of information from those scenes that we didn’t have before.
I liked that while that there were multiple mysteries here – not just the mystery about Fern, but the mystery of what happened with Ellie, between Megan and Jake, and who is telling the truth? And then the epilogue will make you finish the book with a big shock! I don’t want to say too much more, because I don’t want to give anything away. But I feel like even though I don’t know that there would be a sequel to this one, there could be! I’d love to continue reading the story of these characters!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of We All Keep Secrets by Sheryl Browne. This domestic thriller was quite entertaining. I t was based on a lot of secrets and lies amongst the characters of the story. This jeopardized all of the relationships. The story is told my various points of view of the main characters. This leads to some interesting insights. There were many twists along the way. I would recommend this book to others and I gave it a 4 star rating.
#WeAllKeepSecrets should win an award for the book with the most twists and secrets ever!! Jake and Megan have to be the most complicated couple in the world, with two children who now require a new nanny. Megan is instantly hostile and seems determined to keep her safe and distant from Jake.
This is one book you won't be able to put down, it's such a fantastic book, and no way did I guess the twists and secrets ahead.
As usual, Sheryl has written another cracker.
Oh dear. After reading the description I was really hoping to enjoy this book, but as another reviewer pointed out, whoever wrote the description hadn’t read the book! It was quite early on when I realised that the plot was just too over-the-top and I didn’t like any of the characters. Honestly, who in their right mind would start a babysitting job that they desperately needed, and on the very first night go and root through wardrobes and then wash their hair in the designer bathroom?! Ridiculous, Ellie! Then to be shouted at and spoken to by the crazy Megan – surely she’d have walked straight out. The writing was good but all the repetition in the second half really grated on my nerves, and by that time I couldn’t have cared less who was lying about what. I just wanted it to finish. I could go on and on, but I’ll just say thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book, and I’m happy that others enjoyed it a lot more than me.
There's no better way to spend an afternoon than being curled up and cosy with the latest Sheryl Browne thriller.
It's narrated from several different POV allowing us to recount the events from both Ellie, Megan and Jake's side of the story.
As we've come to expect from Browne the story is twisty, immersive and as I found, it's extremely hard to tear yourself away from, until you've reached the last page.
What did happen to Phoebe Anderson and who do you trust? Who's lying and keeping secrets? I found myself doubting all of the adult characters throughout the book, from the very beginning they had me questioning them and their behaviour.
Ellie has recently been hired by Jake Harington at his PC store. A personable man, he treats his employees with kindness and interest. When he asks Ellie what she did before coming to his company, she said she worked in childcare. This peaks his interest and he asks her if she is available to babysit his children that night as he and his wife, Megan, both have meetings. She agrees and is impressed by their palatial home. They are parents to Ollie, age 6, and Fern, 3 months. it appears their au pair recently left abruptly and they need help with their children. After her first night with them, they ask her to work full time for them. She loves the children and is happy to do so. But she soon notices that there is friction between Jake and Megan which makes her feel uncomfortable.
I did not like these characters at all. My pet peeve here is the way we first read these “scenes” and then it’s repeated from another character’s point of view. Very tedious and simply adds pages to a novel. Just a very depressing and boring book. Sorry. Not for me.

We all keep secrets:
This book really pulled me in! There were so many secrets, and lots of suspense, I couldn’t put it down. A shocker of a twist at the end!! 5 stars Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I always enjoy Sheryl Browne's books, but whilst I did enjoy this one I found it a little repetitive. Hence 4 stars.
Sheryl Browne knows how to write a twisty thriller! In We All Keep Secrets, everyone is keeping them until the new nanny's spill forth - what will she do with the secrets she has on them? And what really happened to baby Phoebe?
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
I couldn’t put this book down! Definitely a 5 star read. It had me questioning who the crazy one was the whole time. Thank you for the opportunity to read it first!
The story in this book was clever! I enjoyed the plot and the twists. However, the way it was written, you had two read everything that happened from the other persons perspective later in the book and it felt like you were reading the same things twice.
This was another gripping domestic thriller from this author. Things are never as they seem on the outside and resin this makes you question is anyone who you think they are.
This was a slow burning read that had me hooked from the beginning and had lots of twists and turns to keep the reader on Their toes.
A great addictive fast paced thriller which I found very hard to put down, full of twists and turns with a great ending and well described characters, just brilliant as always.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.
This book is so twisty. You think you know what’s going on when you’re hearing everything from Ellie’s point of view but as soon as the half way mark hits, it gets crazy. I did like the housemaid vibes this book had. Different points of view made this book much more interesting and has you going crazy trying to figure out who to believe. I didn’t realize it contained such an emotional trigger, so you should look into the trigger warnings on this one. I would have loved to give this book 4 or 5 stars but the ending wasn’t resolved in my eyes. I feel like I didn’t get the closure on who was lying, who was telling the truth and what actually happened. The last few lines of the epilogue was a big twist, but I personally didn’t care for it. If you don’t have triggers and don’t mind drawing your own conclusions, this was overall a good read. Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced copy!
I'm SUCH a sucker for stories with unreliable narrators and this one didn't disappoint! While I typically prefer books with a singular main character, I found each of the main characters in this one to be equally captivating. Every time I thought I could trust one of them, something else happened that threw me for a loop and had me second-guessing everything I had just read! I was hoping for more of a shock twist at the end, but the writing and character traits made up for it as I STILL don't exactly know who to believe in the end! Sometimes that can be frustrating, but it fit perfectly with the rest of the story. This will definitely be one I bring up in my thriller book club - thanks for the ARC!
We All Keep Secrets is a first class domestic thriller that had me captivated right from the prologue . This is a twisty and suspenseful read, packed full of secrets . Told from the perspective of the 3 main characters I really had no clue who was telling the truth . Each character is hiding something but which one if any can we trust ? From beginning to end this book never once dipped in enjoyment for me . OMG that ending left me absolutely lost for words . Brilliant .
Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I was drawn into this book right away . I felt connected to all the characters. There were twists and turns from the very beginning. When I wasn’t reading it I was excited to get back to it. I read it in 2 days. All the characters have secrets. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I will be looking for the next book from this author.
I enjoyed this domestic thriller. The main characters backgrounds were fully developed to that you knew what was driving them. I was hoping for a bigger twist, but I was still left wondering which of the main characters “did it.” Solid four stars.
