This is my first Lucy Dawson book, but it definitely won’t be the last. This has been everything I had hoped for and more. One of those books that will keep you turning pages until the end. Every family has secrets, the question is how far would you go to bury the truth? If you’re looking for a multi-layered tale of suspense and family secrets, this book is for you. The beginning is slow but I’m glad I persevered as the ending is gripping and compulsive reading. This is one of my favourite thrillers of the year and will definitely be looking for more Lucy Dawson books.

I really enjoyed this — it’s full of twists that keep you guessing until the end!! I’m usually quite good at guessing who’s done it. But this one took me by surprise!
'The Night She Lied' was an okay read, the plot is darker than I expected and also took unexpected twists and turns and had a longer time period. Dawson jumps around with the timeline which is fine however it was not always clear what time I was reading about and it took a few lines to get there which did not help the flow of the book. The main weakness for me was that some of the events the characters take are ridiculous and unfortunately the characters are not likeable and I did not care what happened to them.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy.
This didn't really feel like a thriller to me because it moved SO slowly and really lacked action. Didn't really feel like a thriller to me. It was a very disappointing ending too - was hoping for another twist or reveal. I was also left with a lot of unanswered questions, which I find really annoying when I am done reading a book!
I also didn't really care for any of the characters. They were not developed well and I did not connect with any of them.
Trigger warning: sexual abuse, child abuse, suicide
Too long and too slow. I couldn’t get into this novel. I kept picking up other books, looking for other reads. Than would come back and hope for something else
This is a gem from @lucydawsonbooks and I was hooked very quickly. This resulting in me devouring this book in just one sitting.
Jude is a nurse, working permanent nights. A call from her mother changes everything. This had me hooked. I have loved this book. Margaret is not a likeable character at all. The phone call is the start of a nightmare for Jude.
This book is well written and pulled me in. I felt as though I was watching this play out ahead of me and became completely engrossed.
This is definitely a character driven book. The characters are in complete control of this one and I can safely say that I have not disappointed.

I have no hesitation in recommending this book. It’s a great read
Great author, but not her best work. It was just too much of a slow burn for me, but the writing was good enough that I’d definitely try another one of her books
I loved this book! so many lies, so much covered up, sad but a happy ending. the court case was told really well, I could feel the emotion
I found it hard to connect to the characters in this one. I liked this book but I couldnt say I loved it. It was confusing at times which led me to put the book down and come back to it.
Ahhhhh im so annoyed with the ending of this book. I really enjoyed the whole thing, the suspense, the build up, the complicated storyline....but the ending just let me down so much!

Jude is an A&E nurse working the endless night shifts, at her behest, having lost of her partner a year before and suffering insomnia ever since. Becoming nocturnal is her way of coping. During the break of one of her shifts, she meets charasmatic Rik who is also nocturnal by choice and the two form a kind of understanding and, dare she say it, friendship. Until one night, she receives a troubling phone call from her mother prompting her to drop everything and race up to Berkshire. What awaits her is nothing short of a nightmare. Lady Margaret Fawkes has been evicted from her lifelong home at Highcombe (Hall, Manor...I can't remember which - a big stately house at any rate), in which she had grown up as a child and spent her married life there alongside her newspaper mogul husband Benedict, at her father's and then her brother's discretion. Highcombe is entailed to pass down to the next male heir in the line and after the death of Lady Margaret's brother Anthony, the estate is then passed down to her nephew Timothy who has returned from his home in South Africa with his family to restore Highcombe and make it a working/running estate gaining income from functions and open days. Lady Margaret is appalled at the idea. But Lady Margaret has been evicted to a cottage on the estate, which is still a mansion by most people's standards...but not Lady Margaret. When Jude arrives at Highcombe, it is to the devastating news that her mother Lady Margaret has been arrested and charged with historic sexual abuse. Jude is shocked. Her mother? This cannot be true. But there is an even bigger shock to come. And the hole that Lady Margaret pushes for Jude to dig herself just gets bigger and bigger...until she is left to flounder alone!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
This one really wasn't for me, which is a real pity because I have loved Lucy's work in the past. It just moved too slowly, I like a fast paced story, especially in the thriller genre. The characters weren't fleshed out enough.
I also felt that the ending was a bit confusing and I had to read other reviewers take on it to try and get some clarification.
Wow. I have no words. This was so good. Had me hooked from the beginning and could not put it down. I started reading this book yesterday and only read to 21% and the rest I finished today. Thank you netgalley giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! What a ride! This hooked me right away and never let us. I highly enjoyed all the twists and turns it took and will definitely be recommending to my friends.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
The Night She Lied by Lucy Dawson was an absolutely unputdownable read! Lies, secrets, murders and trials! Jude meets a mysterious man on named Rik while on her night shift. Little does she know he has a history with her family. Soon Jude is standing trial for murder but she insists it was suicide.
Thank you #NetGalley for the wonderful read!
Oh I loved this one. Could not out it down. read it in one breathless sitting. Absolutely brilliant. One that I was thinking about long after I'd finished reading. Just wonderful.
A gripping thriller, and as the title suggests you don't really know who to believe. I've not read any courtroom dramas before so this was a new one for me, and really enjoyed the suspense and climax!
I absolutely loved this book!
Lucy Dawson is a wonderful author who is able to completely draw you in from start to finish. I loved Jude, Timothy. Johnnie and Richard, they’re all great characters! I love how truths are revealed throughout the book and you never really know who to believe from one chapter to the next.
I also love how it ended, I found it very emotional.
Such a great book!
