Synopsis (From Netgalley, the provider of the book to review)
*******************************************************
We promised to keep each other’s secrets. Until they found the body…
The Wife: My husband and I are fighting for our lives in the hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belongs to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can…
The Husband: I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper. That I’ve not always been faithful. Will they think I killed her? I think of my wife’s jealous streak, of the lies she’s told our loved ones. But if I tell the whole truth, they’ll look into her past. And that will destroy me, too…
Two people fighting for their lives. Two people with secrets to hide. Who will you believe?
K.L. Slater can always be counted upon for a wonderful thriller and this one did not disappoint – wonderful characterizations and a gripping plot will keep you entertained for hours. Highly recommended!

FANTASTIC! 👏🏻
The writing and character development in this book are brilliant!
K. L. Slater hooks you right in and doesn’t let you go until you’ve been emotionally wrung out!
An innocent young mum has been murdered. Who killed her, and why?
I really enjoyed Nicola’s POV and her determination to find out the truth on behalf of her son, Parker, who is in a coma and unable to defend himself. A mother’s love is like no other.
As for Luna, I went from hating her to not early knowing how I felt about her; I really disliked her, but with a mother like Marie and with the secret she was keeping, I did feel a little bit sorry for her - only a little bit though!
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, K. L. Slater and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Love her books and this one lived up to the hype! Parker and wife, Luna are both in the hospital as a result of a nasty car accident. Their son, Barney is staying with his parents, Nicola and Cal. They've met her parents, Marie and Joe but neither seems to warm up to to Nicola, much to her chagrin. But there's a dead girl, a missing scarf online hijinks, blackmail, and all sorts of crazy, convoluted secrets. What's not to like?
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
I love all of KL Skaters books and this one didn't disappoint! It got my attention from the beginning and kept me guessing until the end! The end was a surprise I didn't see coming!
Thank you Net Galley and Bookouture for allowing me to read and review this book!
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I read this book in less than 24 hours!!! I really could not put it down. The twists were so awesome. I thought so many times I had things figured out throughout reading the book but I was so very wrong. Even though this book is told in parts by so many different people and also different timelines, the author did such a great job without making it confusing at all. This is definitely the sign of an excellent author. I would give this book 10 stars if I could as it was that good. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. I highly recommend!
Another great psychological thriller from K.L. Slater! There are many layers to the lies, betrayals and difficulties within families, all handled impeccably by the author. Could not put this one down!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!.
Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for the ARC! Husband and Wife is a fast-paced twisty thriller, told from multiple perspectives, and jumps back and forth on a before and after timeline. A young couple is in a car accident and while they are incapacitated, secrets are discovered and slowly revealed. I thought I knew, but I was surprised and then I was super surprised. This was the perfect guilty pleasure read on a snowy afternoon!
I would to say this is my first Slater book, I can’t recall reading any others. Boy, what a pleasant surprise. I was unable to put this book down. I love how each chapter ends suspenseful and makes you want to continue reading. Such a good thriller!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the ARC #HusbandAndWife by #KLSlater. Already a fan of K L Slater, I knew I would love this book, and I do. Between and terrible car wreck and who and why someone would want to kill Samantha, this book is great! So many lies and cover ups, family drama and the love of a mother and son lead to a shocking and twisty ending.
I loved this book, like I do every single one of K.L Slaters books. I always know that they are going to be unputdownable and I will be recommending it to others. I loved the characters and it really kept me on my toes until the very end! Can't wait to see what the next book brings.
This is the first book I have read by K L Slater and it did hook me in. Husband and Wife has enough going on in each chapter to keep you guessing. I enjoyed the timeline changes and the different perspectives, as it gave the characters a chance to develop. In the end though, it did seem a bit far-fetched.
I really love K.L Slater and have read many of her books but sadly I just couldn’t get into Husband and Wife it just wasn’t for me and I ended up giving up around the half way point.
Although I didn’t enjoy this read it won’t put me off reading more of her books as I think she’s a brilliant author and I’m usually hooked from start to finish.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.
A very fast paced, dark, twisty turn read. Once you start this you won't be putting it down.
Told over different timeframes and from different points of view, each chapter seems to end on a cliffhanger.
A brilliant plot, which leads you down so many false paths and to a very unexpected villain.
Ms Slater never disappoints
I feel like I say this every time I read a KL Slater book - but Slater has definitely done it again!!
I was hooked and gripped from the very first page, and that is no exaggeration!
The chapters were short and pacy and at the end of each one there was a cliffhanger that just added to the excitement.
The plot started off fairly believable for a KL Slater thriller, using the idea of someone in a coma as a scapegoat felt like something that could actually happen. (that's not a spoiler, there's a hell of a lot more twists and turns in there)
The reason I didn't give this book the full 5* was how quickly everything seemed to wrap up. How the police could reveal the truth in one major climatic scene towards the end of the book (very Agatha Christie-esque) - I was kind of waiting for a further twist on this big reveal - but it didn't come.
I think I thought this about the last KL Slater book I read.
So much fun and so fast paced! Just what I needed!
A KL Slater book never disappoints- this one is no different! The short chapters going back and forth in time from different character’s stories draw you in and keep you on tenterhooks. The number of times I said “one more chapter and I’ll…” no, there was no getting on with my day as one chapter pushed me onto yet another gripping chapter.
Twists and turns were the hardest part as surprise after surprise come at you until the final couple of chapters things become clear and you wonder why you hadn’t guessed what was really going on!
Fabulous story- thank you to the author publishers and Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review
Another fabulous read from Ms Slater! This story was full of characters with secrets and hidden agendas. Lots of red herrings along the way keeping me guessing until the end.
Husband and Wife is the latest thriller by KL Slater and is brilliant as usual.
As usual K L Slater can do no wrong when it comes to her psychological thrillers with twists and turns coming from every direction and keeping you hooked throughout.
A good and quick read that will keep you up until the very end!!
A big thanks to Bookoutre and Netgalley for the chance to read and review an advance copy.
As a fan of k l slater i have never been disappointed and once again this is spot on..The burb tells the story in essence a husband and wife inteoven into another missing mother myatery. Its a skillful blurb and you believe the story is based on parker and luna and the other characters mainly their both sets of parents are side characters but that is so wrong.
This is a psychological thriller that has you hooked from page 1 told from the pov of parker. Nichola his mum and luna his wife with the interwoven missung story from the pov of the police. Skillful writing brings everything together and you are lead betwern luna and parker and then bang bang twist after twist and you realise she's done it again with her creativity i loved every second of this from the front cover and burb and had to admit I was sad for it to end.
Thanks so much netgallery, publisher and author for my highly tecommended 5 star arc.
Another outstanding tale from one of my go to authors.
The author is a master at writing psychological thrillers that have you guessing the outcome and still getting it wrong!
Believable characters, although some of them were not likeable at all.
A story that shows the lengths a mother will go to when protecting her family.
A superb tale that had me gripped from start to finish.
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC copy of Husband and Wife by.K.L. Slater. What an excellent thriller full of suspense, drama, deceit, liès and twists! Personally I think that this is K.L. Slater's best book by far. It was a bit slow paced at the beginning but picked up quickly.
The story revolves aroubd Parker and Luna, whose marriage is in deep trouble due to secrets. A young single mother goes missing and is found dead in an alley, strangled with her own very destinctiv scarf, which later becomes a vital piece of evidence as the police appeal to the public to come forward if anyone has information,
One night, Parker and Luna leave to attend a function and leave their son, Barney, with Parker's mother, Nicola, just as they are about to leave Parker tells his mom that he has something important to tell her later, but he never gets the opportunity to as he and Luna are involved in a horrific car accident in which both are seriously injured. and end up in hospital.
As Nicole does now how long they will be in hospital, she decides to take Parker's house keys to pick up some clothes and toys for Barney. Nicola notices that the neighbours bins are and decides to take Parker and Luna's hin outside, and she notices that there is a plastic bag next to the bin, filled with various items like a framed photograph, makeup etc and right at the bottom, she finds a bag with a scarf. Which looks very familiar. Nicola decides to take the scard as she is concerned whether her son or daughter in law may have had something to do with the murder of the young woman.
An excellent thriller filled with nailbiting moments. I could not put this book down as the characters were fascinating, each with their own secrets. I most certainly did not suspect the ending, as the story had me guessing and trying to figure out who was guilty of the murder.
Definitely 5 stars from me and well done to K.L. Slater
