Thank you so much net galley and bookouture for an advance ebook in exchange for an honest review!
Relationships have been strained between Parker and his Mum and Dad, Nicola and Cal. Parker tells Nicola he has something important to tell her, but they must speak alone. That evening, Parker and wife Luna are in a terrible car crash with their lives at risk. Nicola and Cal have to look after their son Barney. Nicola goes to their home to pick up some clothes for Barney only to unearth something suspicious.
There is a lot going in the story yet it was never confusing. This was the perfect grippy book to read before bed and this author is slowly becoming a firm favourite of mine!
I did guess the twist unfortunately but that is a toxic trait of mine. 😂
If you like Lisa Jewell, C L Taylor and Adele Parks then definitely check out this book! #adprproduct
I enjoyed the book for what it was .....a domestic thriller and I appreciated the twist at the end. I ended up not liking any of the characters. However I do give this 4 stars because it kept my interest and was a decent read.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of Husband and Wife by K. L. Slater. #HusbandandWife #NetGalley
This book will make you wish you never got married!! Dark, twisty and FAST paced. I was hooked from the beginning and thoroughly committed to the ride! While I didn't figure out the ending I wasn't overly surprised!! Well done! Gripping!
Holy freakin’ cow was this good! I mean, I’ve read one K.L Slater book, The Liar and did NOT like it one bit. Now this thing…. I absolutely could NOT PUT IT DOWN!!! Today marks the second time I’ve ever driven and held my phone up just so I could continue reading. Yes folks, I endangered the lives of everyone else on the road just so I could keep going. I do not recommend this lol.
Saying Parker and Luna Vance have a troubled marriage isn’t the half of it. With jealousy and allegations, Luna is a mess. One night they have to attend a dance and leave their son with Parker’s parents, Nicola and Cal. As Parker is about to leave, he tells his mother he has something very important to tell her later. Only Parker and Luna end up in a terrible accident that leaves them both in the hospital.
While this is going on, Nicola finds a big piece of evidence that could lead to a woman’s unsolved murder. The evidence being at their home. Luna and Parker’s house. Suddenly she is scared of what she thinks could implicate her son and tries to hide it. Did her son kill this woman? Did Luna?
This story is all about psychological suspense! I sped through this thing as fast as I could! I highly enjoyed it and rate it 4.5 ⭐️ I’d like to thank Bookouture, K.L Slater and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. All opinions are my own. Release date next week November 3rd, 2023
Received this book off netgalley for am honest review.
Started this book two days ago. The first two chapters I was hooked I've had a busy few days so took me a bit longer otherwise I would of finished it faster. This book is about something happening to a young mother and a family it's focused on It keeps you guessing what's going on. I really liked that about this book it kept you turning the pages. I think I guessed it half way through but I still carried on reading it as it was a good storyline. I would recommend this book definitely five stars from me.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this eARC, I enjoyed this read it kept me guessing. The characters were all difficult to like and that was part of the interest as you didn't know who to believe! Told mostly by the mom, Nicola, about her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. The in-laws play a part too, so get ready to guess who did what. And enjoy a fast-paced well written story.
Great page turner! Interesting to see all points of view although sometimes I could see it coming but in the end it actually did surprise me a couple of times so really enjoyed it! Would definitely recommend
Nicola is devastated when her son and his wife are seriously injured in a car accident. When it comes to light they have been hiding something she decides to find out exactly what’s going on.
A story about secrets and lies and a family in turmoil with some interesting characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Parker and Luna are on their way back from an evening out, though the journey is unexpected as they had planned an overnight stay at a hotel. Their journey ends tragically when they are involved in a horrific accident. Luna sustains serious injury whilst Parker’s condition is life threatening.
The couple have a close relationship with Luna’s parents, but this is in no way reflected in the one they have with Parker’s mum and dad, Cal and Nicola. Parker’s mum is totally perplexed as to why their relationship with her son’s family has deteriorated so badly.
As the couple lie in their respective hospital beds, the local police are investigating the murder of a young local woman and are frantically trying to trace the whereabouts of the distinctive scarf she wore on the night of her murder. On making an unprecedented visit to her son’s home, Nicola discovers the scarf, but this is only the start of the family troubles.
This book was such a great read and I found it so easy to be drawn in. The plot shifts through the point of view of the various family members, moving seamlessly between the past and present, but is in no way confusing to follow. Another excellent book by KL Slater, to add to her already remarkable catalogue.
This one was a mixed bag for me. I liked the twist at the end and I started off liking the characters but in the end I changed my mind. Nicola was ok but then I realised she was a bit of a wet lettuce. Everyone else was pretty despicable, the only nice one was Barney, the seven year old.
I also found that there was too much jumping around timewise and too many POVs, things didn't seem to always add up, it got a bit confusing. It was OK but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other reviews I've read.
Another amazing book by my absolute favourite author. Really enjoyed the narrative of the story, characters well Developed and as always a twist to leave your mouth open!
Another brilliant book from one of my favourite authors who never lets me down. The storyline was dark and twisty with interesting characters and I just couldn't stop reading from the beginning until the end which was so well thought out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this fantastic ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.
I did not see that coming. I usually can guess the twist but K.L. is amazing. The story is so well done I thought I knew who it was but then I was wrong and wrong and wrong....
So many lies. Everyone has a secret.
Parker is just a loving son but he never wants to visit his parents. Luna is convinced Parker is cheating on her. "Emerald" is a fantasy that has infected his life in the worst way possible. Now she's dead and Parker's in a coma with evidence of the murder being found in his trash.
The story is told from multiple points of view and with multiple timeslines. K.L. does a great job of giving you just enough that you need to read the next chapter now.
Thank you to NetGalley, K.L. Slater & Bookouture for this ARC. This book is being released Friday, November 3rd. Buy your copy now!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC!
This is my first book by K. L. Slater and I was not disappointed! Parker and Luna get into a terrible car accident and that’s just the beginning of this wild story. Loved how things were told from the point of view of Parker’s mom so we found out right along with her this maze of secrets and murder!
K.L Slater has done it again with her latest offering ‘Husband and wife’.
Parker and Luna are unhappy with their marriage but, decide to go out for the night, but tragedy strikes, and they have a car accident which leaves Parker in a critical condition. Luna gets off a bit more lightly and is in the main hospital ward.
Nicola, Parkers mum is looking after the couple’s son and as decides that Barney will be staying with her until the couple come out of hospital. Which Luna’s parents and none to pleased about. Nicola takes Parkers keys and decides to get some of Barney’s belongings to make him more comfortable. After getting some of his things and she is leaving the house she sees that the rest of the street has put the bins out. So, she decides to do the same for the couple. When she sees including a picture of herself and Barney in the bin. Underneath that she finds a scarf that she recognises the Police are looking for in the connection of a murder. Nicola’s wonders in Parker or Luna has something to do with the woman’s death. So, she takes it and waits to see if Parker wakes up to aske me about it. But as she told Luna of her findings. Luna’s tells the Police.
Thank you Bookoutre for a copy of ‘Husband a wife’ I have followed this author since her first book, and I reckon this is her best one yet. This is brilliant unputdownable thriller from the author that I read it in one sitting. It kept me guessing and guessing. I loved it. Told in several POV’s this about one family and evidence that leads to a murder. 5 stars from me
I love this author's books, I am never disappointed! This was another twisted family drama in which most of the characters were self absorbed and pretty vile. I found I still had a couple of questions at the end, but I am one of these readers who like everything sewn up watertight. Enjoyable read with plenty of twists.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and review first! This was another great read. When you’re stuck between doing the right thing and protecting your child, it’s a tough decision for a mother to have to make. The book kept me engaged and I never saw that ending coming!
A twisty turny thriller that took me less then 24 hours to read, a great storyline as always with a K. L. Slater read, and a twist I certainly didn't see coming
K.L. Slater's 'Husband and Wife' delves into the lives of a married couple following a horrific car crash. There is a hint of problems even before the crash. The husband's precarious, agitated state becomes more enigmatic due to a significant secret he has. Simultaneously, a murder inquiry unfolds, gradually revealing the link between these events. While the story abounds with unexpected twists, at times, it veers into the improbable. Shifting between characters and time periods, the first half captivates, although at times keeping track of timeframes was rather difficult, but the sense of urgency wanes in the middle. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Husband and Wife’ written by K L Slater in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Parker and his wife Luna are driving home from a hotel when their car goes off the road and they’re both taken to hospital. Whilst Parker’s mother Nicola is taking care of their young son Barney she goes to their house to collect some of his clothes and as discovers what she believes to be the scarf belonging to a young woman who was murdered and that the police have been searching for. Nicola can’t believe Parker could be involved but how else can the scarf be at their home.
‘Husband and Wife’ is a first-class psychological drama where two families find themselves involved in the murder of a young woman. As the story progresses the tension builds and as secrets are unearthed lies and deceit immediately become apparent. The characters are perfectly portrayed with so many twists and turns that I’ve had no idea how the story was going to evolve and I’ve had to keep turning page after page to find out. This is another excellent thriller from a very talented writer who has the ability to bring excitement and suspense into each novel, and ending with a surprising and unexpected conclusion that I could never have guessed.
