Another brilliant thriller from K L Slater, she has written so many books and each one I have loved. This is another stinker of a thriller, I love how she writes her characters; the subtle nuances, and sense of something not quite right! Loved it!
K L Slater is the current queen of the dark thriller and this title will not make her lose that crown, thoroughly recommend
I found this book to be a fast paced, keep you on the edge of your seat domestic thriller/mystery. I finished it in one day, unable to put it down, anxious to watch everyone's secrets unravel.
I thought the pacing was great and the characters were interesting!

Thank you to Netgalley and the author the opportunity to revel in this masterpiece! I loved everything about this book BUT it needs a professional editor. It had TONS of grammatical errors.
The best kind of mysteries for me or the ones who keep me on edge and I would never guess in a million years. This book had me on edge the WHOLE time and the ‘whodunnit’ twists at the end…man so amazing!
It does need a professional editor BUT I could see this being adapted to a film! Suck a good book. I would give it a solid 4.9 stars (.1 shy of 5 stars due to so many grammatical errors).
Even so I would HIGHLY recommend this book a lot! I will have to get a copy. I hoping it gets professionally edited before it is released but either way I’m getting a copy to add to my collection!
Bravo!!!

This is my review of Husband And Wife.
The police show up at Natalie and Cal’s house and inform them that their son, Parker and wife Luna had been in a serious car accident and now fighting for their lives in the hospital. Parker is in an induced coma while Luna has less severe acute injuries. The couple had left their 7-year-old son, Barney with his mum and dad overnight while they attended a function.
Two people with secrets to hide. They had promised to keep each other’s secrets. …who should you believe?
Meanwhile, DI Helena Price and her assistant, DS Kane Brewster, of the Nottinghamshire Police are investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Sarah Grayson, a social media influencer and mother of a 4-year-old girl, Millie. She had failed to return home to her mother and daughter after an evening out in the city. Sarah Grayson’s body was found in an alleyway in the city and a scarf around her neck, possibly used to strangle her was missing.
Parker is being linked to the murder. What is his involvement?
This is a well-written fast-paced novel with intense descriptions that heighten the suspense level, and give depth to the characters. The tension builds slowly with twists and turns to a satisfactory conclusion. This suspenseful thriller that kept me hooked until the very end…and an ending I didn’t see coming. A great read!
Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for my digital copy.
This book was so hard to put down! Each time you think you’re getting close to finding out something, the chapter ends and you’re left hanging. I was desperate to know what happened the night of the car accident, which characters were shady and how everything was connected. At some point I had suspected every single family member. I love a book that has me back and forth, unable to guess the twists. My only complaint is that the timelines were so confusing. Instead of jumping back in order, the book jumped to 2 months ago, a year ago, 6 weeks ago, back to 2 months ago. Overall a great book.
Another fast paced thriller by KL Slater!
Luna and Parker are an unhappily married couple who get into an awful car crash. Now both are in the hospital with Parker fighting for his life. His mom, Nicola, was babysitting and went to their house to get some essentials for her grandson when she unwittingly stumbled on evidence in a murder investigation. Why was there evidence at her sons house? As the story unfolds, it is told over multiple time lines and characters and you see how this whole family is involved.
Great quick read with lots of twists! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
K L Slater has done it again, a book that completely holds your interest and not only that makes you wonder what surprise will come out next. Husband and Wife is the story of three couples Luna and Parker, Cal and Nicola (Parker's parents) and Marie and Joe (Luna's parents). The book is told from multiple individuals perspectives. Luna and Parker were just in a car accident and fighting for their lives. While mixed into the tale is Sarah Greyson a young woman found murdered. How does Sarah fit into this story and does Parker or Luna have anything to do with her disappearance or murder. The twists in this story are subtle enough that you think you have figured out the ending but nope....it's never what you think it is.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars)
K.L. Slater's 'Husband and Wife' is a thriller that explores the lives of a married couple after a life-altering car accident. The husband's critical condition is made more mysterious by the timing of a significant secret he shared with his mother just before the accident. Meanwhile, a murder investigation unfolds, and the connection between these two events slowly comes to light.
The story is filled with surprising twists, but for me, it occasionally felt a bit too far-fetched. It switches between different characters and time periods, with the first half being quite engaging. However, as I reached the middle, the urgency to finish the book dwindled.
I want to express my thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was another really enjoyable read by K. L. Slater. I’ve read a few books by her now, so I was really excited when I received this advanced reader copy!
The book was full of twists and was SO gripping, I finished it so quickly because I just couldn’t put it down. The chapters were nice and short, and it was a really easy read.
I loved the plot - I didn’t trust anyone and suspected most of the characters at one point or another, but I never guessed that the plot would develop in the way that it did! The ending had me shook. Considering that I read a lot of twisty thrillers, I’m not easily impressed, so it says a lot when I enjoy a book THIS much!
I went from loving to hating, and vice versa, the main characters, sometimes they were SO frustrating and other times, I couldn’t help but feel bad for them.
If you’re after a fast-paced and unpredictable thriller, I would definitely recommend this!
Thank you very much to K. L. Slater, Netgalley and Bookouture publishers for this advanced reader copy of the book, in exchange for an honest review.
I love K.L. Slater. She never disappoints! I enjoyed this book so much. Lots of household chores were put on hold so I could finish this page-turner. I was trying to figure it out before I finished it--Impossible! I like that it was told from different POV.
I recommend reading this book & everything else by K.L. Slater!!!
I think I have started each and every one of my Slater's reviews stating that I've read all of her books, aaand here I am, yet again doing it.
A huge thank you to the team at Bookouture and to K. L. Slater for letting me read 'Husband and Wife' in advance.
I absolutely loved that DI Helena Price made yet another appearance (previously appeared in Slater's Missing andThe Widow)!
It wasn't long ago when Kim asked me which one of her books is my favorite, and seems like I have to backtrack and say it is this one. Husband and Wife is a PRIME example of Slater's masterful writing psychological thrillers.
If I compare this one to Slater's previous book, the pacing, the different points of view, emotions, atmosphere. Everything was so spot on!
I always enjoy Kim’s books, and Husband and Wife is another brilliant domestic thriller by the author.
Set in the present day and jumping back up to 18 months ago, and the story is delivered by various members of the extended families. It really had me hanging on every word. I was so keen to read on to ascertain what had happened to Sarah, who killed her and why did they do so? I raced through the book in one sitting.
Highly recommend for all those familiar with the work of KL Slater or those searching for a new author who love a good domestic thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Nicola is very close to her son Parker. She finds it very sad that there has been a rift between Parker and his Dad Cal. In fact, there are too many family rifts keeping them apart. Parkers wife Luna seems to think she is too good for Parkers family and that really saddens Nicola because they don't get much time with their beloved grandson Barney.
When they are given the chance to babysit for the night Nicola is delighted. Until...... the police turn up to tell them of a terrible tragedy. And that is where secrets and lies start unravelling and Nicolas world and what she thought she knew are blown apart.
I really enjoyed this twisty thriller and it had a good twist towards the end.. The characters were very well written and I was engaged throughout, Highly recommended!
What a page turner!… Absolutely breathtaking … I can’t believe I read this book in one sitting , it was so gripping
Really enjoyed this. I read another by this author and enjoyed it as well. Enjoyed the twisty ride. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
K.L. Slater's thriller Husband and Wife seems like your typical family with normal problems, but it that quickly takes a turn, and things aren't so ordinary. With multiple points of view and different timelines, this slow paced story builds until you realize nothing you assumed was true. No one can be trusted, everyone is keeping secrets, and the truth is ugly.
Parker and Luna leave their son with Parker's parents overnight while the go out for a special event. But before they leave Parker secretly tell his Mom that he need to talk to her when they get back about something important but she can't tell his dad or his wife. But that day doesn't come because Luna and Parker are in a serious car crash leaving both of them to fight for their lives in more ways than one. The truth of what they have kept secret is about to come out, and when it does nothing will be the same.
I really enjoyed this book despite it being filled with unlikeable characters, I thought I knew what was going on but in the end I was duped just like everybody else. If you are a fan like me of twisty thrillers, with endings you don't see coming, then this book is for you. I can't wait to check out more from K.L. Slater.
This certainly was a page-turner with a big twist that I was not expecting.
We start by meeting Sarah, a young mum on a rare night out who meets a shadowy figure in an alleyway on her way home.
We then switch to the point of view of Nicola - a woman who worries that her and her husband are growing apart from her son, Parker, with his cold and snobby wife Luna and their 7-year-old son Barney.
One night Parker and Luna drop off Barney for a rare overnight stay with Nicola and husband Cal and Parker alludes to having something to confess to Nicola. But she never hears the confession as Parker and Luna are involved in a car accident that night and Parker is critically ill.
From here the story ramps up as connections start to emerge linking Parker to Sarah’s murder. We switch from Nicola’s present day perspective to Parker and Luna’s memories of the past - from Luna’s wild jealous streak to Parker’s growing lies.
Whilst the short chapters, constantly switching between characters and timelines, made for a story that was hard to put to one side, I somehow also felt like it wasn’t moving fast enough and was ready to just find out what was happening! Perhaps it was just lacking in a bit of substance for me - it was all build up and tension and not so much story!
When the reveal finally arrived it was a surprise and it was cleverly kept hidden throughout. There were some very unlikeable characters, but I held hope that Nicola would get her answers and Barney would get to stay where he wanted to! I’d have liked to learn more about the real Parker and felt his character was really only seen through a negative light.
A definite page-turner, lacking the thriller X Factor!
A scorned wife is no match for a mother's love in the latest shocking thriller from KL Slater.
Nicola loves her son Parker more than anything and wishes she was able to see him and her grandson Barney more. Parker has a strained relationship with Cal, Nicola's husband and Parker's father, and she isn't sure if that's the reason or if it's because he has more fun with his wife Luna's wealthy parents. They see them all the time!
Nicola finally gets the chance to keep Barney overnight so Parker and Luna can attend some sort of fancy work thing. She couldn't be happier and savors every moment until the doorbell rings late that night and she gets the news every parent dreads. Parker and Luna have been in a terrible accident and Parker may not pull through.
Before he left the day before, Parker had told Nicola he had something important to tell her the next day confidentially. The wait was already stressful but now she may never know.
With new developments in the case of a murdered e-girl, she needs to find out what Parker was keeping from her. She had previously hoped it was something to bring them closer again, but now she just wants a way to clear his name, if only to bring peace to her own soul.
Parker is an easy target to blame because he can't defend himself. Perhaps there are other suspects involved, also close to home.
This was great! It took me a second to get the hang of the format. Switching back and forth in time and narration from too many people, but it ended up being easy to follow because I was so into the story. This blew my mind! It definitely has a lot going on and takes you to some crazy places. This author is amazing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review!
WOW! MAD love for this book. K.L. Slater is Brilliant at weaving a storyline that lets you think you have figured it out- I was shocked by this one and didn't figure it out. Her books are cleverly written and leave you wanting more .Another 5 star read for me. She is one of my most fave Authors and her books are just getting better and better with each one.
