I’ve read several books by this author and once again this author hit a home run!! This book was a complete roller coaster ride. My who done it prediction changed several times and didn’t know for sure until it was revealed.
This book was definitely fast paced, keep you on the edge of your seat and couldn’t put it down.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this great book!!
Superb read, full of unexpected twists throughout the book.
Grabbed me from the offset and kept me wishing for more and unable to put it down.
Thoroughly recommend for readers of this genre.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.
Unputdownable! This is my first read by K.L Slater but it’s safe to say it won’t be my last. The story is told in multiple POV and timelines which kept me guessing with each chapter!
A woman is found dead and Nicola is determined to prove her son’s innocence. A woman suspects her husband is cheating but soon realizes it’s much, much worse!
I was super excited for this one because I love the author! It took me a while to read this one as i started it before Christmas and then i wanted to get some Christmas reads in but I went back to it yesterday half way through. I really enjoyed this one, there were so many elements to the story which all added tot he suspense of finding out who done it. I didn't guess at all!. Great thriller.
This narrative unfolds as a gripping and intense exploration of a couple's tumultuous relationship, where secrets, accusations, and a mysterious murder threaten to unravel their lives.
The story revolves around a husband and wife, both hospitalized after a devastating car accident. As the wife, battling pain and injuries, contemplates what will be discovered behind the closed doors of their home, a sinister element emerges—a scarf that connects them to the murder of a young woman with honey-colored hair.
Tensions escalate when the wife begins to speak to the police, accusing her husband of the heinous crime. The husband, grappling with consciousness, is consumed by fear and uncertainty. The narrative skillfully weaves between their perspectives, revealing layers of deception, jealousy, and infidelity.
The central question looms large: Who can be believed? The husband, acknowledging his flaws and temper, wonders if his past actions make him a likely suspect. The wife, harboring her own secrets and displaying a jealous streak, raises doubts about her credibility.
This book is sure to keep you on edge, eagerly turning pages to uncover the truth. The suspenseful atmosphere, coupled with the exploration of the characters' hidden pasts and the intricate dynamics of their relationship, adds depth to the narrative. The author adeptly plays with perception, challenging the reader to question the reliability of the protagonists and their versions of events.
This psychological thriller is a compelling exploration of trust, deception, and the consequences of keeping secrets. The narrative unfolds with twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the final revelation, making it a gripping read for those who enjoy suspenseful and intricately plotted mysteries.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this arc.
I can’t believe it took me this long to read a KL slater book, this one was absolutely fantastic and I will definitely be reading more.
I love the different povs, it really helped keep the plot entertaining.
I absolutely did not see that ending coming which is surprising as I read a lot of this genre!
This book was disappointing for me.
I really wanted to like it because of all the positive reviews but I just didn't. I read a lot of thriller books as it's my favorite genre. It did have a twist I didn't expect. However, it was just dull and dragged on. Especially the last 20% of the book was unnessary I feel like. It literally spent most of the book just eluding to something more going on but not even giving enough snipets to keep me interested.
We follow multiple POVs. The most important ones are Luna (wife), Parker (husband), Nicola (Parker's mom), and the police. Luna and Parker get into a car accident. Nicola and her husband, Cal, are watching their grandson, Barney. It turns out Nicola needs to go to Luna and Parker's house to get some things for Barney since his parents are going to be in the hospital for an extended period of time. Nicola ends up discovering something in connection to a murder investigation, and that just spirals everything.
The idea sounds better than the execution. I was really not a fan of the twist. It seemed out of character for the person who did it, and it was just... dull. I hate to say it, but I just didn't enjoy it.
Thank you to K.L. Slater, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the ARC of this book.
Another great book from K. L. Slater! This book told the story from multiple point of views, and it was really interesting to see how the story unfolded. It had plenty of twists and turns along the way and it kept you intrigued to find out what happened! I recommend giving this book a go.
KL Slater does it again! This author never disappoints me. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this one. I can't wait to read more from her.
The story is filled with surprising twists, but for me, it occasionally felt a bit too far-fetched. It switches between different characters and time periods, with the first half being quite engaging. However, as I reached the middle, the urgency to finish the book dwindled.
I want to express my thanks to the publisher for providing me with an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Slater is one of my favorite authors but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had expected. Maybe it was my high expectations, but the characters didn't seem well fleshed out. Overall the story was great and the twists and turns kept me wondering what would happen, but I couldn't really get into it
HUSBAND AND WIFE was a fabulous read - twists and turns plenty but still easy to follow and be engaged in. The different POVs and timelines made perfect sense in the overall progression of the story and built up the narrative. There was one final twist at the end that seemed a bit overdone but otherwise a great story and will definitely be seeking out more from this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review HUSBAND AND WIFE.
Three couples are linked through marriage - Parker and Luna, plus their respective parents. When Parker and Luna are involved in an RTC, their secrets are gradually uncovered by other family members.
I found this hard to put down. The story moves at a good pace, told by various narrators, as each character shares their part of the story. Virtually every character has some secret to hide, which is gradually revealed as the story unfolds. The story kept me guessing right up to the end. Thoroughly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was very gripping and was a great read. I would read from this author again and would recommend to all
Karin slaughter never disappoints. True to form, this book kept the twists and turns coming. My husband pointed out that I kept putting my hands up to my face. Even though this book was told from multiple pov's, I didn't have an issue keeping up with it. This book will really make you think, "how far would you go for your family?"
Parker tells his mom that he has something important to tell his mom but never gets the chance because he is fighting for his life. His mom is watching Parker and his wife, Luna's son and needs to go pick up some things for him. She ends up finding a scarf that could belong to a dead woman. She doesn't know what to think or who to trust. This book was just riveting. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
This was twisty and kept me guessing. I thought I had it figured out, but I didn't. I just didn't feel the urge to jump back in and find out what was happening though. Most of the people in the book are pretty terrible. And I agree with other reviews that said it was a bit repetitive.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love this authors books and again this one is just great. One minute in and I'm hooked -a great story line, and i could not put this diwn . Very reccomended.
Luna and Parker are husband and wife, and they are fighting for their lives after a car crash. They both have secrets to hide, and a murder seems to be linked to them. Both parties look guilty of something, so who will you believe?
I honestly struggled to get through this book. I could not pinpoint what it was, as the story intrigued me, but ultimately, I had issues with the writing style. I found it choppy, and heavy on the telling, rather than showing. So much of the story was characters over-explaining things to each other that the reader had already figured out. Given that the story was first-person perspective, I was expecting to see more inside their heads, but it felt very surface-level due to all the dialogue. Additionally, the dialogue sounded unlike any human I have ever heard speak, therefore I found it hard to rate this book any higher than 2 stars.
I am not opposed to reading other works by this author, as I found the premise interesting, but the execution was a slight miss.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have read SO many books by this author, and as I hoped, I was not disappointed in her latest. The story was fast paced and the characters felt quite real and believable. Another entertaining and cleverly plotted page-turner!
