I did not realize that this book was a novella! There is nothing wrong with this, but I was surprised. Given the shortened book length, I felt like the story was started and wrapped up nicely. It did not feel rushed at all.

One of my favorites parts of the book is how he fell first. I definitely enjoyed reading how Peter had a crush on Kara. I was not sure how she felt at times though (like when her friends tell him how she is quiet around him). I did feel as if the ending was a little unrealistic, but then the hopeless romantic in me has me saying chances need to be taken!

I really felt the love of Peter's family and quaintness of being in his hometown.

I will say that I do not feel like the book summary really captures what the book is about. I definitely like the book after reading it more than I did when reading what it is about. I was not a fan of something of the things that Kara would think, but I try not to nitpick so much if I overall enjoyed the storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of Frosty Proximity by Liz Alden. This was so much fun to read and got me in the christmas mood. I loved reading about how different cultures celebrate events and seeing both Christmas and Hanukkah was really interesting! I also loved the mentions of so many romance authors; some of my favourites were talked about by Kara and she’s got great taste. Bring on the Christmas books!
I also loved the trans representation; the makeup scene made me so happy.

A snowstorm in Switzerland means stylist Kara can't fly home to New York for Christmas. Faced with the reality of spending the holiday season alone in an airport or at a random hotel, Kara's client Peter steps up and invites her to spend the holiday with his family. The twist? Peter's family are Jewish and are celebrating Hannukah. This was a cute short story with a pinch of spice. It was so nice to delve deeper into Hannukah traditions, and bonus points for the sensitive trans rep - I really loved these elements of the story. I personally didn't think the epilogue was necessary as I don't need a resolution at the end of a timeline, but appreciate that a lot of people love that!
Special shout out for the super cute snowflake chapter dividers, loved these so much!

Frosty Proximity by Lix Alden is part of the Winter Wanderlust series. I had not read book one and felt it read well alone. It is a quick read.
Liz includes many topics in the book. Kara and the family’s acceptance of a gender identity teen. And Kara spending Hanukkah with Peter’s family and participating in the celebration.
I enjoyed the opening scenes where Liz was performing her job as Peter’s stylist. I felt it was fascinating. She is the sunshine to his quiet personality that sometimes comes across as grumpy.
She gets to know him as they are trapped at his family’s house in a snowstorm. The story was short so there wasn’t time for a lot of character development but it was a cute read.

Frosty Proximity, from new to me author Liz Alden, is a holiday romance with a focus on Hanukkah. What a treat! This is a short, quick read that should not be missed.

Kara is a professional stylist and Peter is one of her clients. They are both in Switzerland, where Kara has just finished with Peter and two other clients. Due to a snowstorm, Kara can't fly home to New York for Christmas. Peter invites her to spend the holidays with his family, who celebrate Hanukkah. Although a bit awkward at first, Kara fits into Peter's family seamlessly, and together they have the best holiday ever. Peter's grumpiness and Kara's sunshine are a perfect combination.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

I loved this grumpy/sunshine forced proximity steamy holiday romance! Kara is a stylist and when she is in Switzerland on a job, she gets stranded due to an epic winter storm. Luckily, her client dropped her off at the airport and realized her flight might get canceled so he goes to pick her up and offer to drive her to a different airport near where he is going to visit his family for the holidays. When that airport also gets shut down, she ends up accepting an offer to stay at her client’s family’s home.

I liked the way this unfolded. The steamy scenes fit well to the plot. I enjoyed getting to know Peter’s family and appreciated the trans representation. I thought Kara and Peter had great chemistry and I loved the way the conflict at the end was resolved.

Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy. Opinions are my own!

5 stars!

Every single time I read one of Liz Alden's novellas, they get better and better. "Frosty Proximity" is my favorite one so far! I absolutely loved it. This novella perfectly balances hotness, sweetness, family bonding, and Christmastime merriment to make one heck of a story. I adored the main characters, Kara and Peter. in my opinion, they feel realistic and are fully fleshed out. They are both more than meets the eye. We get to know them quickly and efficiently, bonding with them in just a short time. Though this is a short story, each page packs a potent punch of emotion and slow-burning sexiness. Only one bed and forced proximity? Yes, please! Grumpy main male character? You don't have to ask me twice! They need to be quiet because there's family around? OHHHH YEAH. A wholesome family and a wonderful plot about acceptance and kindness? yesyesyes! This novella has everything. I highly recommend reading this during the holiday season. It's got something for everyone!

When Kara gets stranded in Switzerland near Xmas due to a storm, her only option is to stay with her Client Peter, & his family.

This was a really quick sweet read with a little bit of spice!. Pulling in all the familial love we have during the holidays be it Christmas or Hanukkah. It gave me all the warm fuzzies.

A well rounded inclusive read.

Frosty Proximity was a cute, sweet read intertwining both holiday traditions of Christmas and Chanukah. I really enjoyed both Peter and Kara but I really did want more of their story.

While it is clearly stated that this is a novella, I'll be honest and say that I felt there was definitely more to the story. Everything was just too fast so I didn't get fully invested in it because it just flew by far to quickly for me.

Overall I enjoyed it and definitely want to read more in this world.

Frosty Proximity is a fun steamy holiday novella. Kara and Peter worked together and both harbored and adorable crush, when chemistry and a snow storm changed it all.

Frosty Proximity is the perfect holiday read. It is like a Hallmark movie but with a little added spice. I really enjoyed the relationship building between Peter and Kara. It was a little cheesy at times but that is what I expect from a holiday romance. I especially loved Peter’s family and how they made Kara feel like she was one of them. The banter between Kara and Peter had me laughing out loud at times. This was an all around feel good read and perfect for a palette cleanser. This can easily be read in one sitting and will definitely help you get into the holiday spirit.

Kara is a fantastic personal stylist . Through one of her clients turned best friend she met her newest client - Peter . While trying to help Peter out one last time before the holiday, a massive snow storm hits leaving Kara stranded in Switzerland . Having no where else to go, she ends up at Peter’s family home for the next several days . There is no christmas in sight but there are sparks flying everywhere between Peter + Kara . Could this be a Hanukkah miracle ?

This was such a fun + quick read to get you in the mood for the holiday season . So much feel good energy with great messages tied into the story perfectly . As always I love Liz’s writing + I can’t wait to see what her next christmas novella brings us !

A sweet short story to read during a relaxing bath. I enjoyed the level of smutty goodness involved. It was just right for this home for the Hanukkah story. It felt more like an emotional love story not just Peter, but with his family as well. Including a young Trans character was also an added bonus. Normally it wouldn't be worth mentioning, but I adored the way Sylvie's character was written and all that was done to make sure she feels loved a included. It was special

Hits the mark.

Frosty Proximity is a great read. Sweet, funny with some sex timer and C blocking going on in a modest house, shared bed and plenty of family around. In a snowstorm.
Kara gets stuck with Peter and his family instead of flying back to New York to spend Christmas with her family. Instead, she's spending it with Peter, his family in a four bedroom house, lots of family and doing Hannakah. They are sharing a fullsized bed, baking cookies and in three days, somehow finding themselves fallin in love. I really liked Peter and Kara, who had great chemistry and fun together.
Recommend.

I seem to be in the minority with this one, but I really didn’t enjoy this book. The writing style was just not my cup of tea, the main characters had zero chemistry and neither of them felt fully fleshed out. The dialogue between the MCs was often dull and just generally felt stilted and awkward rather than cute/flirty/romantic in any way???

I kept thinking that this book may have worked better as a single perspective rather than dual since the character voices just weren’t distinct IMO. Also, when reading Peter’s perspective he kept making references which seemed inconsistent with his character (e.g. he refers to Hallmark Christmas movies which to me as a Brit are a super American thing).

I also felt like we kept being given detailed info about random characters and plot points which were never mentioned again - like why did we need to know that one of Kara’s sisters works at Lockheed Martin???? Especially in such a short novella, it really seemed unnecessary to tell us about so many named characters who only feature briefly or don’t feature at all in the book. I felt this book would have worked better if the author chose to either keep it a novella and focus more on the characters and the developing relationship OR make it a novel and spend more time fleshing out the main and supporting characters.

I have given this book one additional star because I did really appreciate the positive trans representation. There are some cheesy but really sweet scenes with Peter’s trans younger sister and it was nice to see this sort of representation in a fluffy romance.

2,5* rounded to 3* It felt like this novella aspired to be more, but was too short to be...

Kara and Peter are working together: she's his personal stylist and gets stuck in Swizerland due to a snow storm.
They're both trying to stay professional and avoid each other but the holidays and the weather are playing "against" them, or maybe not...

I liked the start of this novel, it showed a group of people knowing each other through work and personal connection, infact there is a previous novella about two other characters: "Nutcraker with benefits" published last year.
It was well written with nice banter, then we get to the part where Peter and Kara are stuck together and it kind of stalled. I think the author tryed to put too much in the oven for such a short story, a little overdone: like the gender theme about Peter niece, the prejudice, past experiences, the long distance issue, the religion and different tradition...
I was looking for something easy and dreamy, romantic and fun and more I read, the less I felt that way.
It was not bad, but not what I was expecting.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this book as an Arc in exchange of an honest review.

This book is a captivating journey through the depths of imagination. Its rich storytelling and well-developed characters kept me engaged from start to finish. With its thought-provoking themes, it transcends genres and offers something for every reader. A must-read for anyone seeking a literary adventure.

Kara is in Switzerland for her work as a personal stylist for her client Peter when the storm of the century blows in, stranding her over the Christmas holidays with his Jewish family. Peter doesn't want Kara to crash his family's Chanukah festivities, but they invite her to stay with them while she's stuck in their country.

This has all the makings of a fun holiday romance read for me. I love the forced proximity, and I always enjoy work dynamic romances. The banter between Kara and Peter was so much fun. The author did a wonderful job showing both Chanukah and Christmas holidays. My only complaint is that I want more of these two!
