I do enjoy Miranda Rijks style of writing, I haven't read a book that I've not enjoyed!! This book gripped my right from the start!!!
Another quick, fast paced thriller by Miranda Rijks! I really enjoyed the multiple POVs. That Maria was wacky, evil and quite entertaining. Lots of drama and suspense to keep you reading until the very end. I would definitely recommend this to any thriller fan!
Imogen hires Maria to be the housekeeper for her bed and breakfast but soon realizes she might not be as qualified as she led on. What are Maria's motives for being hired and what does she want from this family? It kept my attention but wasn't my favorite read.
A good read, full of short chapters that push the pace on nicely. A real page turner. Not as much tension as in other books I've read by the same author but by no means a disappointment either. It's as twisty as I've come to expect and very gripping.
This book was so easy to read, the chapter were short and the story was very fast paced, this book has two points of views, this book has a lot of mystery and suspense, I really loved the ending, this is my very first book of this author and I definitely enjoyed it, I cannot wait to read more books of hers, I also loved that the ending of the story did not feel rushed as some other books that I have read, this is a book I would definitely recommend reread
This was a very interesting book, with a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It kept my attention, and I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I love this author! The writing style is fast paced and fun especially in this book. It kept me guessing and has me never wanting a housekeeper. Highly recommend
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Great domestic suspense tale about what happens when you let someone you don't really know in your home.
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!
This was a pacy, gripping, tense + captivating thriller that I flew through. The twists kept me engrossed and the writing style was brilliant.
Thank you Netgalley + the publisher for my ARC!
My first Miranda Rijks book, and I was disappointed. I didn't feel any suspense at all, it was quite clear what was unfolding the whole way through. The writing was also not to my taste - I understand its an uncorrected ARC but at one point we are told the husband 'sequestered' the duvet when they meant that he hogged it. And the author frequently used dialogue to give us background information, making the dialogue highly unrealistic. Just couldn't get on board with this book.
Miranda Rijks is one of my go to thriller authors. This book was pretty good. Another cautionary tale about not letting strangers into your home. She does this trope well, as always.
I love this author so I had to read this book and I'm glad I did!
Imogen is trying to have it all and so when things become too much
she hires a housekeeper, unfortunately this housekeeper has her
own motives for taking the job and this is not to benefit Imogen....
Twists and turns aplenty - fast paced and fun. brilliant as usual from this author.
This book is nuts!!! And I mean that I’m the best way. Such a page turner. This author sure knows how to suck the reader in. My head was spinning with all the secrets and such unlikeable characters, I just had to keep reading to see what was going to go wrong next for Imogen.
I am a huge fan of this author so naturally I had to read this. Imogen is trying to have it all and when she finds that to be too much she hires housekeeper. Of course the house keeper has her own agenda. This is really twisty and fun.
It all could have been avoided if her husband wasn't such a putz.
I love it.
Aah! I was hooked on this book from the start. I loved the creepy atmosphere & discovering what secrets would unravel. The characters kept me interested & surprised throughout!

If you're a fan of twisty psychological thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end, "The Homemaker" is a must-read. Prepare to be captivated by Rijks' skillful storytelling and unforgettable characters.
Thank you NetGalley and Miranda Rijks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've made it 72 pages in, and I have to give up. its not for me, adoption and motherhood talk isn't for me. I have unwavering passionate stance on my own beliefs and I don't like them to be challenged or countered with. the writing and the story itself is already a middle of the road kind of book for me so I'm not feeling particularly bad about putting it down. It had a lot of potential at the beginning but 50 pages in it started to feel like a chore. not only to me, it felt like the author was over it and just aimed to give a few shock factor scenes and slap an end to it all- I think I will give another chance to this author in the future when I'll need a palate cleanser because the writing is easy to get through.
Maria is the perfect housekeeper but she knows your secret and wants your family. Chilling and disturbing.
Definitely a fast passing read. A few dark and disturbing surprises solid 4 stars or did remind me in areas of other housemaid books..
