This is a good book. The two main characters are Beth and Hunter. They used to date in high school but broke up when they went to college. Beth is an attorney and lives in San Francisco. Hunter owns an ice cream company and lives in Vermont. A large dairy farm is up for sale and Beth’s family owns it. Hunter gets part of his organic milk from that farm. So he goes to San Francisco to see Beth. Beth decides to go to Vermont to see the farm and Hunter’s factory. They wind up next door to each other. Sparks start flying. Beth goes back to San Francisco. The both fall in love.

When I Fall In Love is the second book in the Ashleigh Lake series. This book can be read as a standalone. This is the first book that I have read by Sophia Karlson and I would read more of her books.
Thank You to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Oh, what a lovely read this novel was! Not only is this the first novel I've read by Sophia Karlson, it didn't seem to matter at all that I hadn't previously read the first novel in the Ashleigh Lake series, and, thankfully, there was absolutely no character confusion. What initially drew me to request an advance reader copy of this novel was that it was set in Vermont, my adopted home state for almost the past 40 years, and the author did such a wonderful job portraying the awesome beauty that is Vermont in autumn, my favorite season, and she peopled this novel with wonderfully drawn characters, a pair of young lovers torn apart by circumstances beyond their control who get a second chance at love many years later.

Hunter, the last of his 6 siblings to learn that his parents died in an car accident while he was at summer camp, and as the eldest son, sacrificed his Stanford scholarship to stay home and care for his younger siblings, made worse when his younger brother, age 15, ran away from home. At the same time, the girl he loved, Beth, her mother, and her brother, Kyle, were forced to leave the Collingwood Farm where they lived, when the elder Collinwood died, and his wife threw them out and off the property.

Beth eventually beccame a successful attorney in San Francisco, is up for promotion to partner. She's overworked, exhausted, and stressed-out. Hunter, still in Vermont, started a successful organic ice cream company and has hopes of expanding, (think Ben & Jerry's, only healthier).

Although Hunter and Beth they lost each other physically, the love they shared never died, but when the organic dairy farm which supplied 30% or more of the milk needed for Hunter's company to survive, was willed to Beth and her brother, Kyle, they put it on the market, hoping to get big bucks from a developer who would turn the farm into a posh ski resort.

Beth's boss, seeing how stressed-out and exhausted Beth is, demands she take a vacation, and so Beth decides to head back to Vermont for a week of R & R, not realizing that it's Hunter who arranges to have her rent the cabin that is separated from his gorgeous lake home by little more than a canoe rack. From the outset, Hunter pulls strings to get close to Beth, but their reunion still leaves Beth wondering about his motives, and of course, they live at oppostire ends of the country.

So, I'll leave the rest of this wonderful rekindled love story for you to discover. It's charming, sweet, sexy, and emotional, and most definitely a 5-star read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

As stated at the outset, I read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

This was a cute small town read with likeable characters and the obstacles facing them personally and professionally. The story didn’t engage me straight away. It took me a week to finish it as it was slow in some parts. It was around the 70% mark that it really picked up and I became more invested. The side characters especially Hunter’s family were sweet and well established. I liked Beth even though she came off as cold but knowing her past it was understandable and Hunter was your typical Hallmark boyfriend (which isn’t a bad thing).
The story had some hot and sweet open-door spice and by the end you are rooting for these two to hurry up and get together.

Thank you @netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fun, entertaining read. Hunter and Beth are interesting, entertaining, intriguing, relatable, captivating, complex characters. Their romance was fitting for these characters with all it’s twists and turns – especially the climax. I enjoyed them as individuals and a couple. The various secondary characters added to the fabric of the story. I love the family aspect of this series and the various relationships. The story is easy to read and get into. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"When I Fall in Love" by Sophia Karlson delivers a heartwarming second-chance romance that captivated me with its emotional depth and sweet family dynamics. The connection between Beth and Hunter is intense, and I thoroughly enjoyed the push and pull of their rekindled relationship. The story weaves together elements of love, family, and personal growth, creating a compelling narrative that resonated with me. Karlson's portrayal of a large, interconnected family added an extra layer of charm to the narrative, leaving me eager to explore more of their stories. Quick Summary: A next time means forever romance

My Review: When I Fall in Love by Sophia Karlson is a small town, second chance romance.

About the Book: Beth Anderson and Hunter Logan were young and in love, once upon a time. They had the promise of forever before them. When Beth and her family were booted from Ashleigh Lake, the two lovers disconnected and lost their way. As a result, innocence was shattered and hearts were broken. Their paths merged again, however. What was meant to be strictly business became something more.

Question to Consider: If you were ever given a second chance to love the one you were meant to be with, would you take it?

My Final Say: What an emotional read! This was an ah in book form. I really enjoyed Beth and Hunter's story. I also liked Hunter's family. I will definitely be returning to this series to get to know the other stories.

The book honestly felt like a drag for me. I didn’t really want to DNF this book but I kept pushing through to see if my feelings would change regarding it but towards the ending it didn’t. I enjoyed the romance between Hunter and Beth but all these other characters in the mix I felt confused with who was who, who was doing what, who was with who etc. this book is the second boon of the series but I didn’t know until after so maybe that’s why I was confused. I didn’t really enjoy this as much as I wanted to, I guess I had high expectations but the romance was sweet and cute. I felt like the book had too many errors which I understand this is an ARC but the plot just felt confusing with the whole going back and forth between Hunter and Beth. The love story between them was beautiful and cute but not my cup of tea.

Hunter is the guy Ali want in my life. He loves his family and always put them first even when he probably shouldn’t. Beth needs to learn to slowdown and going back home is not how she expected that to happen. Beth and Hunter make a cute couple.

When I Fall In Love By Sophia Karlson
My Rating: Three stars
ARC review

Tropes
ღ second chance
ღ small town
ღ love, loss and growing up

Fall is my favourite season, and this book was the perfect fall fuzzy feel good novel. A great second chance, small town romance. If you enjoy this trope, Beth and Hunters story is exactly what you are looking for.

“This is the problem with life. You take the route you think is best, not being able to see beyond the next bend. Before you can see it for what it is, you’ve unwittingly slipped into a side road that only leads you to a dead end”

16 years later, Hunter unexpectedly meets Beth in San Francisco as he's trying to save his ice cream business in Vermont.

“Part of me still lives in the past we shared, and the other part isn’t allowed to think about the future we never got to have”

Returning home after so long away to wrap up the sale of her and Kyle's inheritance, Beth soon realizes how unhappy she had become being a hotshot city lawyer. The two are forced to face their undeniable connection to each other while healing from the wounds of being separated against their will.

My thoughts: the book was enjoyable, there was nothing wrong with it in anyway it gave all the cute, fuzzy warm feelings but it just wasn’t for me.
