Clean, Humorous, Regency Romance
copper-colored hair and a penchant for ham are two things our protagonists have in common, but are they enough to link them for life? One other thing must happen—Roland must prove his loyalty to Viola. How will he accomplish such a thing? Viola’s family members are known for creating situations to suit their purposes. What will they come up with next? This is an entertaining story that will get you laughing at the antics of the main characters. If you like clean, humorous, Regency romance, it might entertain you. The foolishness and the shenanigans might make you roll your eyes, too.
Not my favorite. The story was ok but the characters/writing style didn't click with me. Bottom of the TBR pile in my opinion.
I had so much fun reading this book! I have not read all the books of these series, but I will do so. If those couples are as fun as this one, it will be worth it. I have this feeling that Cordelia's story will be a blast. Hope to read more from you soon!
A very enjoyable historical romance to help you release all the stress in your body
I loved all the characters im so fond of this story
Thank you netgalley for the arc
This is the third installment of the series, A Very Fine Muddle. This book is about Viola, the third Bennington sister. She is ready to take on the season with the help of her dear aunt, Miss Mayton. Viola already has her sights set on Roland, Earl of Baderston, after they met briefly last year. He is handsome and has the same love for ham as she does. All that is left is for him to prove his loyalty. But how will that be done? Well, the Benningtons are well versed in creating interesting predicaments, and this time is no different. There is certainly never a dull moment with this eccentric and charming family!
Filled with humor, fun, romance, and plenty of mayhem and madness this was such a delight to read and had me smiling all the way through. A lighthearted, entertaining romance, and a great addition to the series!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
The Bennington sisters and their aunt Miss Eloise Mayton, are ready to take on London for Lady Viola's first season. Viola has already decided she wants to marry Roland Trewellian, Earl of Baderton. They met last year, but have had to wait for her first season. They both have a common affinity for ham. Roland hasn't been able to stop thinking about Viola. He is already making plans for what invitations to accept. His biggest problem is his mother. Viola demands loyalty and must think of a way for him to prove it. This could really backfire. Never a dull moment with continuous laughter with the Bennington family.
Woe to the gentlemen who marry into the family. More Benningtons to follow.
Clean romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is the third in the series of the five Bennington sisters and their batty aunt, Miss Mayton, who goes to extraordinary lengths to secure suitable matches for her charges while recounting her own very tragic love history; all of which has each of her beaus meet a very unfortunate and untimely end.
Lord Roland Trewellian, the Earl of Baderston is the object of Viola's dreams; he has copper coloured hair, a prerequisite for Viola, and the fact that he loves ham, gives him the leg up!
The sisters and Miss Mayton decide to embellish a story that took place when Viola was eight to start up a rumour that the ton will spread like wildfire and wait to see if Roland will come to Viola’s defence.
This story has many LOL moments and should be read as the farcical romance it is. The supporting characters are their father, the Earl and their brother along with a very tense Mr Tattleton, the butler who is unable to control anything in the household now the young ladies are on the market to find suitable partners. Added to this is a newly acquitted parrot named Chester who insists on screaming “Murder” constantly.
I thoroughly enjoyed this light-hearted read, and I hope this helps you decide to read it too. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through NetGalley and the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Not my best read. I found it too slow and rather boring unfortunately. And the whole conversations about ham, please!!!!
Another fun romp through the lives of the Bennington Sisters. In this third installment we find Viola getting ready for her Come Out. Though it's not needed. Viola has already chosen her life mate. After meeting Lord Baderston in the park the previous season while with her sister, she decided, subject to his proving absolute loyalty to her, he was perfect. Roland, having been equally smitten, goes out of his way to prove his loyalty. This makes for a hilarious and outrageous escapade. Not to mention the ham, atrocious painting and less than ideal chaperone! Wonderfully fun read. Can't wait for the next.
Thank you Kate Archer, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
This is the third book in a very amusing historical romance series.
These girls and their slightly batty aunt bring so much fun and misadventures. I can't wait for the next sister to have her turn.
Lady Viola Bennington is about to have her "come out season" in Town. She met the man of her dreams last year and just hopes he will be loyal enough to stand with her against anything.
Roland Trewellian, Earl of Baderston is waiting for a certain young lady to come to Town. Unfortunately his mother has her own ideas.
Great fun.
I was disappointed when I started reading this book as I had high hopes. I found the writing style somewhat silly and I honestly skipped some pages during my reading.
In want of abject loyalty, mayhem ensues!
Roland becomes a fool for love as he fights, in blinkered chaotic pursuit, his mother's meddling and ruinous rumour, to prove his infatuated love for his desired lady, Viola.
A romance to be read and enjoyed as the fun farce it is, where Archer orchestrates a well written array of misunderstandings, mayhem and madness as one misjudged idea sets off an unstoppable chain reaction, where all you can do is sit back, enjoy the ride and embrace the silliness wholeheartedly as it unfolds. Creating a light hearted, uplifting, bewitchingly nonsensical air to the tale, where the mantra I-can't-believe-they-just-said,-did-or-even-believe-that circles around your head becoming your constant companion from start to finish.
It's strange I'm book 3 in and still can't decide if I'm just plain irritated by the Bennington sisters' kooky ridiculousness and manner or rather in awe and charmed by their bizarrely bewildering, childlike rose tinted romanticism. But what I do know is I'm drawn back everytime, sucked in by the novelty of what they might do next and addicted to needing to find out what madcap schemes and mayhem they will become embroiled in. And Roland and Viola were a hoot as love at first sight fed wayward imagination and fantasy and rather wonderfully became their reality!
A tale that strongly follows the plot of its predecessors, with a cast of characters from the long suffering, on the verse of a meltdown, butler, Tattleton, the scandal minimising yet care-free, over-indulging father and brother and the steadfast, voice of reason, Conbatten, to name but a few. In competition, with a whole menagerie of adopted waifs and strays and a gentle governess with another duke dilemma to solve, all adds to the fun. Where I strongly believe you really need to read the series in order to understand and appreciate the inside jokes and humouring reactions to the quirks of the Bennington sisters who have come before, now and in the future who remain just as coddled in their quest for an all encompassing love match they crave and the chaos they undoubtedly cause as a result. Novel, good fun!
I don't believe that I've ever read a romance that was as heavy on the comedy as this one! This series is about the unconventional Bennington sisters. Each of the girls is looking to find her ideal husband and this gets them into all sorts of predicaments. In this book, sister Viola tries her hand at roping in Roland, Lord Baderston. Viola seems to be the Lucy Ricardo of the Regency Period. She adores Roland's coppery hair and believes that they share a mutual love of ham. Yes, ham. Even worse, Roland hears about Viola's peculiarities and begins to increase his ham consumption. Additionally, Roland must also prove his unfailing loyalty to Viola. What could possibly go wrong?
One of my favorite things in this book is the interplay between the family's long-suffering butler Tattleton and Chester, the wicked parrot. Good times, for sure. I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
Lady Viola Bennington, third daughter to the Earl of Westmont, has been thinking of a certain Lord Baderston all summer. All the lord need do is prove his abject loyalty, as that is a gentleman’s most important quality. It is a quality she will insist on. Miss Mayton, the dear aunt who has raised all the earl’s daughters, is rather buoyed by her charges’ success in Town. Roland Trewellian, Earl of Baderston, heard quite a lot about Lady Viola from her sister, Lady Rosalind, when they met last season.
The third book in the series & I must admit I’m starting to warm to the Benningtons & this is my favourite of the series so far. A very amusing romance in which the couple share a love of ham! It’s chaotic, it’s fun & it made me laugh. The dialogue is witty & those sisters do know how to cause problems
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
A Fun Mad Entertaining Read
Viola Bennington had already met the man she would love to marry but he had to prove himself plus it also helped that he loved ham!
Roland Trewellian, Earl of Baderston had set his heart on Viola the Summer before and he knew she was due to have her come out. He had every intention of impressing her and wooing her but his mother had other ideas.
Such a fun entertaining read that will keep you laughing at all the antics going on within the story. Wonderful characters and Chester was just brilliant.
Recommended romantic read with a wonderful but unusual HEA!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Another light hearted story in this series which is full of chaotic incidents witty dialogue and problems caused by the sister's themselves. While fun and quirky this is not a series to be taken seriously so if that is your preference these are not for you. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
These Bennington girls are so funny. First we had Beatrice and stuffy Van Doren, then we had Rosalind arranging her own fake-turned-real-kidnapping to test Conbatten and now we have Viola, her red (or copper, as she would say) haired earl and a very badly behaved parrot.
There are some truly funny scenes in this book - a meeting with Mr Turner, another of Rosalinds 'tours through music', numerous Odes from Juliet and another book for Miss Mayton to read from, about a gentle governess, who is trying to work out which one of the two Dukes vying for her hand is in fact genuine.
Chaos ensues. I have read every one of Kate Archer's books and they are without exception a hoot. This one was possibly not quite my favourite but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
The third book in the series with a funny plot that includes ham of all things. The two main characters are well paired both in personality as well as maturity. The author does a lovely job bringing them along in maturity after a series of rumors and mistakes. Witty and engaging without the heaviness of great drama. Fun read.
I haven't read any of the previous books in the series so I did not know what to expect. I found the whole story a bit on the silly side. Viola and Roland were well suited for each other and, of course, there were many bumps in the road on the way to their HEA. I'm not sure if I'll read any more of the series as I skipped quite a bit in the middle just to see how it all got resolved.
Though Viola met Baderston briefly in the park, she decides he is the one for her. Intrigued by Viola and her quirky family, he decides to court her. Valuing loyalty above all, Viola sets out to test his loyalty. Things quickly go awry. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
